Missing Scene from the L word
Dana walks in the kitchen after returning from her trip to Harvard. She had rode back with Rich. No one was in the kitchen so she headed upstairs to her bedroom. When she walks in she finds Karen and Al.
Al: Hey, Dana. How was Harvard
Karen: Forget Harvard. How's Jeff?
Dana: First of all Jeff is a jerk. All he did was hit on me.
Karen: so what's the problem?
Dana: Karen, I have a boyfriend.
Karen: Yeah, but Jeff is so much better then Rich.
Dana: no he isn't
Al: Dana, what happened?
Dana: Well, I think I have changed my mind about Harvard. It's not that great plus Jeff goes there and I don't want that to cause any issues with Rich. When I was with Jeff it just didn't feel right. He kept implying that we belonged together and we were "perfect for each other".
Karen: but isn't he the type of guy you usually like?
Dana: yes, but when he was talking all I kept thinking about was Rich. He didn't want me to go. He admitted he was jealous. I felt a little bad for me there.
Karen: so your trip was lame because nothing happened with the hottie
Dana: That's not completely true.
Al: so something did happen?
Dana: yes, just not with Jeff.
Al: what do you mean?
Dana: Rich showed up.
Al: Rich showed up. He drove all the way to Harvard.
Dana: Yes, he did. He said he wanted a chance to tell me how he feels about me. Jeff said that Rich is the kind of guy that doesn't think about his future and asked him where he would be in the future. Rich said he didn't know what he would be doing but if he married me that he would make sure that he had time for me. I interrupted and asked him "Rich, you thought about us getting married?" Then he said he loves me.
Karen: Wait, Rich told you he loves you?
Dana: yes
Al: Did you say it back?
Dana: I did
Al: So you are in love with Rich.
Dana: Yes.
At this moment Carol walks by the room and overhears this part of the conversation. She walk in the room.
Carol: Welcome home Dana, how was Harvard?
Dana: It was good.
Carol: Did you figure things out with the other issue?
Dana: Everything is great.
Carol: That's good. Well, I will leave you girls alone.
She leaves, just as the phone rings. Karen answers it.
Karen: Hello?
(on the phone)Rich: hey Karen.
Karen: Oh hey Rich.
(On the phone)Rich: Can I talk to Dana?
Karen: Yeah hang on she's right here. Dana it's lover boy
Dana: give me that (grabs the phone). Hey baby
An hour later Dana is still on the phone with Rich. Karen and Al are talking.
Karen: Is she ever going to get off the phone?
Al: Karen leave her alone.
Karen: HEY, I am waiting for a phone call.
Al: just because its usually you on the phone, doesn't mean Dana can't use the phone to.
Karen: I just don't get it why did she choose Rich? Jeff is so hot.
Al: Karen, you are being petty. Rich drove all the way to Harvard and told her he loves her.
Karen: so what
Al: I give up. (She walks out of the room)
A few minutes later Dana is finally finishing talking to Rich.
Dana: babe, I should get to sleep. I will see you tomorrow. I love you.
They hang up.
Karen: Finally.
Dana: what is your problem?
Karen: You been on the phone for over an hour.
Dana: So what
Karen: other people need to use the phone.
Dana: Well it's free now. I am going to get ready for bed.
The Next Morning
Dana goes downstairs to the kitchen, Carol is the only one there.
Dana: hey mom
Carol: hi Dana, your up early
Dana: I am always up early. Except that you would think I would still be tired from the 22 hours drive.
Carol: what?
Dana: Well, Rich showed up at Harvard. I rode back with him.
Carol: Rich drove all the way to Harvard?
Dana: Yes, he did
Carol: so what exactly happened at Harvard?
Dana: I realized something important. I thought I liked Jeff but I really don't. I think that was more just seeing him again. Then I saw Rich walk over and I realized something else.
Carol: Is it that you want to be with Rich?
Dana: Yes.
Carol: That's great.
Dana goes to sit at the table.
