Issue 1: Heroes to the Rescue

Speed Highway Zone, New Vale City (Present Day)

BGM-Sonic Adventure 2 OST-Let's Make It

In a zone of the city that's famous for its speedy highways, a super speedy hero stands atop of the tallest skyscraper in the area with their arms folded and a cocky grin. It's Sonic the Hedgehog overlooking his favorite city in the world. He jumps off the skyscraper and skydives, then briefly grinds down on its wall before running down. As he nears a highway, he bounces off the building and then several more at high speeds before landing and running on the high-speed highway. He races pass several cars as a blue blur, shocking each driver that were too late to spot him. Sonic runs alongside a family car, waving at the kids inside to get their excited attention before speeding forward.

While running, Sonic notices large smoke emitting from the SHIELD Helicarrier floating near Manhattan as if it had suffered a major accident, "That smoke…Something must've happened to the SHIELD Helicarrier. It's coming in low. Might as well check it out." He chuckles cockily, "You can always bet on this city starting something excitin'!" He joked with an adventurous grin before boosting towards Manhattan to investigate the commotion.

Meanwhile in Manhattan…

BGM-Spider-Man Unlimited OST-Tutorial

The Amazing Spider-Man swings spectacularly through downtown in his Enhanced Suit in search of a new adventure for himself. He jumps off his webline to land and cling on the side of a building, clenching and shaking his head before noticing this section of the city is in ruins and partially covered in flames. "My Spider-Sense has been going wild all morning! What the heck's wrong?!" He then gazes at the Helicarrier hovering near downtown, "Is that coming from…the Helicarrier?! I should check it ou-."

"HELP!" screamed a woman on the streets, as she's about to be mugged by three thugs. Spidey flips off the building to dropkick a thug, smacking him to the wall, and then knockout the second thug with a quick uppercut before swiftly defeating the last goon with an upside down roundhouse kick. The webslinging hero approaches the woman to check if she's okay, only to be called a, "Freak!" before she runs away from her hero.

Spidey sighs shruggingly, "No really. I've never heard THAT before."

Spider-Man walks away, only to be stopped by a speeding police car braking near him. The officer exits his car to talk to Spider-Man, "We got a situation up the street! Some super-nutjob's gone off the rails; whole city's gone crazy with her!"

"I'll go take care of her, officer." Spidey nodded, before walking away towards a burning shopping center, "As soon as I figure out who she is." He stops upon sensing incoming danger from behind. He catches a quick glance of a villainous woman with long dark green hair, wearing a large golden headdress and a crimson and black dress alongside technological cuffs and boots. She also wields a staff while standing atop of a bus, which she mystically commands to charge at Spider-Man. The webslinger quickly dodges it and watches the woman mockingly laugh at him before fleeing further downtown.

"Iron Queen…" Spidey recognized the supervillain. "She's supposed to be locked up in the Helicarrier. Not anymore apparently. She looked to be having fun wrecking the city with technomagic. Glad to know who I'm dealing with here." He quipped.

BGM-Spider-Man Unlimited OST-Gameplay A

"Gotta stop her before she uses the whole city as her playground." Spider-Man muttered, launching a webline onto a nearby building and swings off the ground to follow Iron Queen's trail, "I don't fight her as much compared to the Freedom Fighters, but I'm confident I can still embarrass her like the rest of my rogues' gallery. Just gotta be careful of her technomagic."

Suddenly, he senses something about to attack him. A blast of fire cuts through his webline, forcing Spider-Man to land on the streets and confront several criminals that look to be on fire from the inside out. "And be careful of these fine gents. What have you folks been eating? Chili peppers?" Spidey jokingly asked the enhanced thugs.

"We dunno ourselves, but we're likin' it!" A thug grinned before releasing flames of fire from his lungs towards Spider-Man.

"I like it better when you aren't on fire. Mind chilling out for a sec while I beat the flames outta ya?" Spidey quips while dodging the firebreath, then web-zips to uppercut the enhanced thug into the air and follows up with an aerial barrage of punches before kicking him down.

"Come down here and fight like a man!" Another enhanced thug taunted while shooting a frenzy of bullets at the web-swinging arachnid.

"Don't suppose I can convince you to come up here and fight like a spider." Spidey webs his gun, and then the face of the criminal before knocking him out with a powerful web-strike. He swiftly ducks under another flamebreath from a thug before swiftly smacking him down, "Lay off the chili next time. Your breath smells."

His Spider-Senses tingle again, alerting to a crowd of dangerously-enhanced thugs approaching and surrounding him. "More of you? Guess I can stick around for a little longer…" Spidey jumps into the air, firing webbing in all direction to unleash a large area web attack that instantly subdues all of the enemies, sticking them from the streets to buildings. "To stick YOU guys up and down and all-around for an hour!" He quipped upon landing on the ground. "Boy am I good. Just wish I knew what is going on."

"Spider-Man! We need your help!" shouted Agent Phil Coulson from across the webslinger, who was surprised upon hearing and noticing the familiar SHIELD agent.

Spidey approaches him while saying, "I was gonna say the same thing to you, Coulson. Is there some work release program for supervillains I don't know about?"

"No. Roxxon had moles inside the Helicarrier. They were experimenting with the Extremis Virus onboard. Something went wrong and caused a massive explosion." Coulson revealed.

"Infecting several thugs with Extremis while freeing Iron Queen. And I'm assuming every other supervillain in SHIELD custody." Spidey deduced.

"Iron Queen is our biggest concern. Iron Man will arrive soon with a cure for the infected thugs, but SHIELD needs your help to apprehend Iron Queen. Her Magitek is strong. That's why Director Fury wants you to help him on the front lines with your unique abilities." Coulson replied.

"I always love the days when the Big Boss of SHIELD wants MY help. Tell you what. Just this once I'll push my four o'clock tea and pencil in your request." Spidey quipped, accepting his request to help SHIELD.

"They're at Time Square. Go!" Coulson pointed in the direction for Spider-Man to swing towards.

BGM-Spider-Man Unlimited OST-Boss!

Meanwhile at Time Square, Nick Fury points his SHIELD army at Iron Queen and commands them to attack her from a distance, relentlessly shooting energy bullets at the villain. "Last chance, Iron Queen! Surrender or I'll be forced to bring out the big gun!" He threatened the techno sorceress.

Iron Queen laughs while protecting herself from their assault with a strong mystical barrier, "Bring them out, so I may turn it against you and CRUSH you!" She retorted, unleashing a shockwave through the barrier that knocks back SHIELD and stops incoming projectiles mid-flight.

"I'm not big, and I hate guns, but I'll try to live up to the hype regardless." quipped Spider-Man, surprising Iron Queen and smacking her away with a swift swing-kick.

"'Bout time you showed up, webhead." Fury scowled.

"Excuse me for running into Extremis-enhanced traffic." Spidey quipped.

Iron Queen recovers from the surprise attack and growls angrily at Spider-Man. "You will not be enough to stop me, Spider-Man!" She fires continuous energy bolts from her staff at Spider-Man, who dodges them with his acrobatics, "I too was infected by Extremis during the explosion, but unlike others, I have COMPLETE mastery of the nanites inside me thanks to my Magitek. I am a different woman than I was before!" She boasted.

"Not seeing it. You need better makeup, lady. Extremis is not a good look for you." Spidey quipped while shooting a pair of webs behind himself, pulling up a chunk of earth and hurling it at Iron Queen, stunning her long enough to be kicked away.

Iron Queen growls once more, and getting angrier judging by the enraged scowl on her muzzle. She spins her staff before stabbing it into the ground, unleashing nanites onto the streets of Time Square and uses her magic to manipulate it as she pleases. She manipulates the streets to effortlessly hurl a nearby vehicle at Spider-Man, who quickly jumps over it but was immediately sucked and smacked away by a deadly whirlwind of nanites.

"Careful, Spider-Man! Her staff was storing millions of nanites! She's using them to transform Time Square into a weapon!" Fury informed the webhead while watching the fight.

"I'm noticing!" quipped Spidey while he's jumping away from erupting metallic spikes nearing his position. As he jumps high into the air, the smiling Iron Queen manipulates the nanites to conjure up a missile barrage and fire them at Spider-Man. The webslinger uses electric webbing to quickly zip down from the missiles, stomping onto the ground while unleashing an electric shockwave that short-circuits the nanites in the area.

Spider-Man goes for a quick web-strike at Iron Queen, who tries to conjure up a metallic barrier but fails to do so because her nanites are weakened. "What happened?!" The surprised Iron Queen shouted.

"Short-circuited your nanites. What? You didn't notice my electric webbing touching the ground?" Spidey mocked, knocking her away with his web-strike. He then web-yanks her staff and breaks it into two, leaving the broken pieces on the floor.

"But did you notice that my staff is ALSO made of nanites?" Iron Queen retorted, manipulating her broken nanotech staff to transform into a strong pair of tentacles that wrap themselves around Spider-Man, slowly squeezing the life out of him.

"Realizing it right now…" Spidey quips, struggling to break free from grasp.

BGM End

Iron Queen laughs mockingly at Spider-Man while using her powers to slowly crush him to death, until suddenly a bright blue ball shatters the tentacles, thus freeing the webslinger. "What?!" She reacted in shock, as the ball lands, skids around and smacks Iron Queen onto a large TV screen.

"Always gotta make an entrance, huh?" Spidey quips, watching the ball lands in front of him, spins and springs up to reveal Sonic the Hedgehog.

"Gotta make a lasting impression on the audience." Sonic snarked, wagging his finger smirkingly.

From a hole in the TV screen, Iron Queen rubs her cheeks while recovering from Sonic's surprise attack. She looks down and notices her old nemesis and growls angrily at him, "Sonic the Hedgehog…"

"Yo, Queenie. Long time no see. Haven't seen ya since I wiped the floor with you and your Iron Dominion. Wanna repeat of what happened last time and send you flying all the way back to the Dragon Kingdom, or do you want to give up and go back to jail? Take your pick." Sonic mocked, smirkingly annoying his nemesis.

"I choose…NONE OF THE ABOVE!" Iron Queen shouted angrily.

BGM-Sonic Unleashed OST-Boss Battle (Day)

Suddenly, Iron Queen conjures the nanites and machines in Time Square into a vortex that surrounds and begins fusing with her being. She floats ominously in the air before Sonic, Spider-Man, and SHIELD as she forms a massive green robotic dragon around herself, roaring monstrously at the heroes below her.

Spidey whistles calmly with his arms folded, "You made her mad."

"Awesome! Love embarrassing her when she's all feisty!" Sonic quipped while eagerly waiting the showdown.

"FIRE!" Fury shouted, commanding his agents to unload their entire arsenal at the robot dragon. The dragon roars in pain before retaliating with a massive fire blast that knocks away everyone, including Sonic and Spidey. The heroic duo quickly recovers, with Sonic blasting forward with a Spin Dash while Spidey swings by his side to launch their counterassault.

From the sidelines, a young man with strawberry blond hair is watching the fight between the heroes and Iron Queen. It's Flash Thompson, a soldier for the United States Army and Spider-Man's biggest fan. "Fighting is getting intense, but I have full confidence that Spider-Man can beat her. He ALWAYS comes out on top." Flash proclaimed, placing his full confidence in his hero's abilities.

Flash hears his cellphone ringing from his pocket and takes it out to check who is calling. It's Weiss Schnee, the huntress heiress of the Schnee Dust Company and Flash's girlfriend. He answers the call, "Weiss! Sorry I'm running late to our date! Spider-Man and Sonic are fighting another supervillain that's wrecking the city!"

'Heard the news. I know they'll handle it. I don't blame you for running late. Just get here safely, okay?" Weiss asked.

Flash replies, "Don't worry, I'll-."

"HEEELLLLP!" Suddenly, a wounded man screamed for help near Flash's position, which caught his attention and spots the man partially buried beneath debris.

'Who screamed?' Weiss questioned.

"Someone needs help. I'll go check it out." Flash responded.

'Okay. Just don't do anything reckless.' Weiss advised.

"I won't. See you soon." Flash responded.

'Stay safe.' Weiss said sincerely.

Flash hangs up the call and puts his phone back in his pocket. He rushes and then kneels to the wounded man's side, "Stay calm. I'm a soldier of the US Army. I'll get you out of there and take you to the nearest ambulance." He assures the man while throwing aside the pieces of debris.

"What do we have here? Some punk tryin' to be a hero?" taunted an Extremis-enhanced thug approaching Flash.

Flash stands up and takes out a pistol from his back pocket, standing in front of the wounded man to protect him while pointing his gun at the criminal. "A punk who's trained with a gun and knows what'll happen if he shoots a bullet through your skull. Highly recommend that you don't move." He threatens the enhanced criminal.

"You're not the boss of me." The criminal ignores his threat while walking towards him.

"Dumb move." Flash shoots the gun out of the thug's hand, then shoots through his leg and force him to kneel on the other one. Flash approaches the wounded thug and points his gun at his face. "Walk away and I'll pretend that this never happened. Final warning." He threatened him again.

"You're the one who won't be walking away from this." The enhanced criminal smirked ominously.

Suddenly, the criminal breathes fire in point-blank range onto Flash's legs and severely burns them. Flash yells in agonizing pain from the unexpecting attack and falls on his back while trying to tend to his bleeding legs, "AAAAAAGH…My legs…"

Meanwhile, the Extremis Virus helped the criminal heal quickly from his wounds as he stands right back up as if he was never wounded at all. He grabs his gun from the floor and prepares to kill Flash, only for the wounded soldier to use his own gun to shoot through the thug's skull and instantly kills him. Flash pants, grunting and struggling to ignore the pain to his legs as he stands on them. "Warned you…" He weakly joked.

Through his willpower alone, Flash ignores his injuries while freeing the wounded man from the rubble. "Thank you…" The wounded man said weakly to his savior.

"You're welcome…Stay strong. I'll get you through this…" Flash assures him while ignoring his own injuries. He spots the nearest ambulance and carries the man to them. "This man needs medical attention STAT!" Flash told a paramedic while placing the wounded man on a stretcher.

"Okay, but, what about you? Your legs look like they're in bad shape." A paramedic said, noting his bleeding and burnt legs.

"I'm fine…I'm a corporal in the US Army. Went through hell during the Superior Empire War…Compared to that, these injuries are nothing…" Flash states while lying about his injuries.

The paramedic calmly says, "I understand, but…"

"Forget about me for a moment. Noticed other wounded in the area…Will bring them for you." Flash ignores the paramedic's warnings as he carefully walks through his own pain to search for anyone else that needs help.

BGM-Sonic X OST-Sonic's Fight

Meanwhile, the battle against Iron Queen rages on through the streets of the city. With her robotic dragon, she tries swooping Sonic and Spider-Man but they were able to leap over her tackle and land on the other side. "NOW, FURY!" Sonic shouted.

"You heard the hedgehog! FIRE!" Fury shouted, commanding his agents to fire rocket launchers at the dragon's back, damaging it while inciting her furious rage.

"Damn you, Fury! SHIELD will NOT imprison me again!" Iron Queen shouted furiously, unaware that Sonic is about to brutally stomp her to the ground with a powerful Spin Attack, then comes Spider-Man smashing his web hammer across her face. "You haven't heard the last of me, you wretched vermin!" She proclaims through her rage while attempting to escape to the skies.

"Oh no. We didn't say you could leave." Spidey quips, racing alongside Sonic up the dragon's spine.

"There's no 'Next time, Gadget!' built into that thing!" Sonic snarked.

"NO! Stay away from me!" Iron Queen screamed, attempting to hit them with laser cannons mounted on the dragon's body, but they dodge and launch themselves far above its head.

Hanging in the air for a moment, Sonic announces "It's been fun, meanie-queenie, but it's time for us to win now." He joked smirkingly.

"NO!" Iron Queen shouted.

"Too bad!" Spidey quips while ensnaring Sonic into a web ball and swings him around in lightning-fast overhead circles towards the scared dragon.

"NOOOOOOOOO!" The Queen screams uselessly as Spider-Man spindashes down the length of the dragon's body, splitting it apart.

Amid the debris, Iron Queen falls from the sky, screaming, "I HATE THAT HEDGEHOG AND SPIDER!"

BGM End

Iron Queen crashes into the streets, ensuing her own crater that she lies unconsciously in it. Sonic Seconds later, the heroic duo lands on the edge of the crater and share a little secret handshake to celebrate their victory.

BGM-Sonic Forces OST-Fist Bump (Piano Ver.)

A SHIELD agent places handcuffs on the disheveled Queen, who is lead away by Agent Coulson. Meanwhile, Fury approaches the heroes who helped him save the city, "Ferrum's back in custody and Iron Man is distributing the cure for the Extremis Virus as we speak. Good job, you two. We couldn't have stopped this without your help."

"No problem. We're all about lending a hand! But try not to have any more explosions over there. I got a brutal exam coming up!" Spidey quipped. Fury nods in silent acknowledgement before walking away, leaving Spidey and Sonic to have a little friendly conversation. "Wasn't expecting you to visit today. Thanks for the help. Not that I needed it…" He quipped to the hedgehog.

"Nah, but you owe me for not inviting me to that Morningstar adventure." Sonic joked.

"That was reserved for family members only." Spidey remarked.

"Aren't I an honorary brother of the family?" Sonic smirked at his friend.

"Honorary pet at least." Spidey shrugged.

"Heh. Jerk. See ya around." Sonic quips, sharing a friendly fist-bump with the webslinger.

"Yeah." Spidey nods, before the duo went their separate ways either by swinging or running through the city.

And while talking to some SHIELD agents, Fury takes notice of Flash nearby, as the young soldier carries a wounded civilian to the paramedics for treatment. The paramedics were impressed that, despite severe injuries to his legs, Flash was able to save multiple people. Flash nearly collapses in exhaustion while carrying the civilian, but they were caught by the paramedics.

"Amazing…And through his injuries no less…" A paramedic commented on Flash's bravery.

"Sir, we REALLY need to take you to a hospital." A female paramedic helps the soldier onto a stretcher, while another paramedic helped the wounded civilian onto a stretcher of their own.

"Alright…Think I accomplished my daily service to the country. Let's make this quick…I'm running late for a date." Flash pants weakly while being transported into the ambulance.

A male paramedic uses a device to scan Flash's legs and get a detail on his injuries. "Son, I'm afraid you won't be able to run again." He told the soldier, much to his shock.

"What? What do you mean?" Flash retorted while his injuries are being stabilized.

The paramedic calmly explains, "Take deep breaths and listen. I've been doing this job for a long time. Know the ins and outs of injuries like this. You lost a lot of blood. Your legs are burnt and there's extensive tissue damage. I'm afraid the doctors will have no choice but to amputate below the knees to save you." He said, silently shocking Flash even more with the news of his legs being cut off, "I'm sorry. If you got medical attention sooner, this wouldn't happen. But, maybe there's a chance we can save your legs. It's slim, but miracles can happen." He said, trying to reassure the patient.

"If it doesn't happen, I'm okay with this sacrifice." Flash said, reacting surprisingly calm.

"Why? Why willingly endanger yourself like that?" The paramedic asked the wounded soldier.

"Because good guys think of others before they think of themselves. The best people I know taught me that lesson." Flash answered firmly, reminiscing of the same sacrifices that Spider-Man had often committed for everyone else and was glad to have had the opportunity to imitate him.

BGM-Sonic Adventure 2 OST-2-Player Select

KFX Here: Added a new character from the Sonic Archie series (PRE-Super Genesis Wave era): Regina Ferrum, aka Iron Queen. Originally wanted to add Spider-Queen from Marvel Comics, but I thought she'd might be a little more complicated to write and replaced her with Iron Queen to have more Sonic villains in this series. For the next 2-3 chapters, I'll take things slow until the main plot rears its head.
