Agent Venom: Agent Venom reporting for duty! I've always dreamed for this day to come. I'm teaming up with Spider-Man to save the world! Eggman Nega stole the Flames of Disaster from a secret SHIELD facility and escaped with it. Everyone was pretty mad at Fury for putting the world at risk, but we're pushing those grudges aside to work together and stop Nega. I'm partnered with Spidey and Sonic to find the remaining Chaos Emeralds, while everyone else is trying to find Nega's secret base before things get worse.

Issue 13: Toying with Time

In the Sky

BGM-Sonic the Hedgehog 2 OST-Sky Chase Zone

Tails pilots the X-Tornado above the peaceful clouds while Sonic and Peter are standing atop of the plane, and Miles, Silver, and Agent Venom sitting in their passenger seats, as all of them are working together to find the remaining Chaos Emeralds and stop Eggman Nega.

"So who are you behind that suit?" Peter asks Venom, still clueless that it's Flash Thompson bonded to the symbiote.

"I can't tell you my secret identity. You of ALL people should understand the reason." Flash replied.

"I'm just worried about you." Peter crosses his arms, "I'm sure the guy behind that symbiote is a great man. It's the symbiote ITSELF that I don't trust. Once we save the world from Nega, promise me you'll get rid of that thing. It's for your own good." He said, concerned for the symbiote soldier.

"I understand. This thing HAS been messing with my personal life lately. But at least until the mission is over, I want to do as much good with this symbiote as I can." Flash responded.

"Just keep an eye on that temper of yours." Sonic quips smirkingly.

"I still can't believe SHIELD spent DECADES trying to experiment on Solaris to control time. It's like Project Shadow all over again. What did Fury tell you about Project Pegasus, Venom?" Tails asks his co-pilot.

"Not much. Only about an accident of a 'prototype energy engine'. Didn't learn the true story until recently when we were all together back at the Bermuda Triangle." Flash answered.

"That's Fury for you, hiding secrets with lies and more secrets. Kinda glad their experiment failed." Peter remarked.

"Kinda?" Sonic raises a curious eyebrow.

Peter explains himself, "Well, I'm not happy that accident spawned Iblis and we have to deal with whatever that thing is now. But if their experiment was a success, then the government would have unimaginable power over the timeline, and that's not right. Sure they might've had good intentions, but it was too risky. NO ONE should have that kind of power. Messing with time will ALWAYS have dire consequences."

"He's right. Most of us suffered through those consequences. The Time Eater. The Phantom Ruby…" Silver lists off.

"Alchemax…" Peter says somberly, reminiscing of the time his future self from an alternate timeline was the CEO of Alchemax and tried to conquer the timestream, "Even if the intention was to save the love of your life, it's not worth sacrificing the entire universe…" He said, which got Venom silently thinking about Weiss and how he's sacrificing his humanity to protect her and the world.

Sonic stares at the webslinger, recalling the Alchemax adventure himself, and looks somberly himself, "Yeah…got a point there."

Suddenly, the Spider-Men feel that tingling sensation in their heads about imminent danger approaching. "Spider-Sense tingling!" Miles exclaimed.

"Mine too. What's up?" Peter wondered, glancing for the danger.

Tails looks at his plane's sensors, "I'm picking up an unusual energy reading."

BGM-Sonic Adventure 2 OST- ...for Sky Rail

Up ahead, several red Time Rifts appear and spawn an army of fiery dragon-like phoenixes that roars and are flying towards the X-Tornado, much to the heroes' surprise. The orange lava phoenixes throw fireballs at the plane, forcing Tails to roll to the side. Then, the purple phoenixes fire energy balls at them, in which most of them were blocked by Peter's web shield.

"Do your business on a car, not a plane!" Peter quips while blasting the monsters with web shots, with Sonic assisting with his Homing Attacks.

"Venom, take control of the weapons!" Tails orders, focusing on dodging the monsters' fierce attacks.

"On it!" Venom fires rapid bullets at the lava monsters, destroying several of them easily.

"Is THIS what you all were going through back in New Vale?" Tails asks those who were dealing with the time distortions.

"Yeah. These are the Time Rifts, but something's off." Peter notes the portals are colored red instead of the usual green.

"We need to get rid of these things! They're about to swarm us!" Sonic says while attacking the relentlessly spawning lava monsters.

"Got an idea! Hold on tight and cover your breaths!" Tails dives through the clouds at high speeds while being chased by the lava monsters. As Tails flies down towards the ocean, Venom targets the monsters behind them and kills as many as he can with bullets before they dive into the ocean, swimming through the waters for a moment before swooping out, as the remaining lava monsters are tricked into weakening themselves the moment they dived in since they are vulnerable to water, allowing Venom to finish them off with one, explosive missile attack.

"Nice flying." Venom compliments the fox's piloting skills.

Tails smiles from the compliment, "Thanks."

Unfortunately for Sonic, he didn't like their brief underwater tour as he's wet, annoyed, and spews out water from his mouth. "Just what I needed: A surprise bath during the apocalypse." He quipped.

"Best way to fight your fear of water I hear." Peter quipped, annoying the hedgehog.

"Really? 'Cause it's not workin'. It's making me hate water more." Sonic snarks while patting the water out of his ears.

"Just what the hell were those things? We never fought anything like them back in the city." Miles remarks on the mysterious lava creatures.

"Sonic and I fought them before. I remember…During that whole mess with the Time Eater, we visited a timeline where an entire city was in ruins and on fire because of those things." Peter recalled that time-traveling adventure.

"Do you think that timeline and those monsters are somehow connected to Iblis?" Sonic questioned.

"I have a bad feeling they are." Peter replied.

Suddenly, Tails is receiving a call from SHIELD through the ship's interface, "I'm receiving a call from SHIELD. Must be Director Fury." He answers the call, putting Fury on via video chat.

"Sup, Nick. Is there anything else that SHIELD messed up and we're forced to clean up, like anything involving lava monsters?" Peter jokingly asks the director.

'Those are creatures crafted from the Flames of Disaster. What they lack in numbers, they make up for it in ferocity. Completely mindless and are only hellbent in destroying everything in their path. SHIELD fought them shortly after the accident of Project Pegasus, and before Iblis was sealed.' Fury explained.

"Nega must already be experimenting with Iblis, causing these new time distortions." Tails guessed correctly.

'And unlike before, these anomalies have gone global. These Iblis Monsters are spawning in every major country causing havoc and destruction!' Fury informed the team, showing live footage of the Iblis Monsters attacking cities and villages.

"They're like Grimm except they're on fire." Sonic quipped.

"This is getting out of hand. If only I had the Chronoblade to seal these rifts, but Nega took it from me when I was captured into his ship." Peter said, feeling guilty and feels responsible for these creatures attacking the planet.

'The only way we can stop these rifts is by destroying Nega's time machine. Eggman is still looking for his base. In the meantime, find the remaining Chaos Emeralds and keep them safe from Nega!' Fury ordered.

"We're closing in on the next Emerald. It's located somewhere within Toy Kingdom." Tails informs the director, locating their next Chaos Emerald.

'Hurry over there! Getting reports that Iblis Monsters are already attacking the Zone, and the civilians need to be evacuated immediately! I'll send in support for the evacuation efforts!' Fury replied.

"We're on it!" Tails nods, propelling his jet forward as it boosts at sensational speeds towards Toy Kingdom Zone.

BGM-Shadow the Hedgehog OST-Circus Park

Once a happy land filled with toys, balloons and castles has become the frightening playground for the newly-spawned Iblis Monsters. A lizard creature known as an Iblis Biter scares civilians with its terrifying roar, forcing them to run from its firebreath before lunging at a toy soldier and biting it violently like a dog on a chew toy. A worm monster known as an Iblis Worm surprises civilians when it sprang out of a toy box and scares them away with a fireball barrage.

Tails flies the X-Tornado over the theme park, as his friends jump off the plane and skydive. "We need to protect the civilians 'til SHIELD Evac arrives! Tails will be our air support! Miles, you're with Sonic! Venom and Silver, you're with me!" Peter gave out the orders to his team.

"Roger that, Spidey!" Venom uses his symbiote to pull the pins of six grenades and tosses them down at once, killing numerous monsters and clearing a landing zone for himself, Spidey, and Silver as they attack more monsters together.

"WOOHOO!" Sonic hollers, as he and Miles ride down an elephant slide and leap towards several Iblis Monsters attacking scared civilians. Sonic quickly takes out the lizards and worms, while Miles delivers an electrified webstrike on the back of an Iblis Golem's head, jumping over it as he falls flat on its belly.

"I prefer the toys at Six Flags. Let's go play over there, people! It's cheaper!" Miles jokes while leading the civilians to safety.

Nearby, some people are having fun riding a cute panda teacup as it jumps off a large ramp into the air, where they are about to be attacked by Iblis Takers and Trickers. The civilians scream in terror, and before the monsters could kill them, Peter swingkicks the creatures away from the teacup while quipping, "This ride's closed. As is the new one. We're calling it: The Psychic Rescue!"

Silver flies to the airborne teacup and uses his powers to effortlessly lift the civilians out of it, before the teacup crashes into a wall. As Silver flies the civilians to safety, Peter lands near the area where Agent Venom is fighting off tons of monsters while keeping a group of people safe. He has his symbiote unload all of his guns to rain hell on the monsters, while the man behind the symbiote devastates the monsters with punches. A purple Iblis Titan surprises Venom with a punch to the face, flinging him away. It creates a molten boulder out of nothing and throws it at Venom for additional damage.

"Play ball!" Peter catches the boulder with his webbing and throws it at the Titan's skull, exposing its core and allowing Venom to smash through it with a powerful punch, killing the creature.

"Thanks." Venom said to his idol.

"You're welcome." Peter replied, "Hate to admit it, but you're pretty good with that symbiote. If it wasn't so evil, I might allow you to keep it." He acknowledged.

"I'm a trained soldier, and the symbiote hates anything that's on fire. And you." Flash says, using that symbiote strength to lift up a mountain of rubble to save the civilians that were trapped below it.

"If my alien ex wasn't so controlling and insane, we wouldn't have broken up so violently." Peter web-slams an Iblis Taker, which briefly bounces up to get spinkicked away by the web-warrior.

Just then, the cavalry has arrived in the form of several police cars and SHIELD Aircrafts. The police officers assist fending off the Iblis Monsters, as the civilians are being escorted to the aircrafts so they could be evacuated from the area. "Sweet. The cavalry's here." Peter says while helping people to an aircraft, before contacting Tails, "Tails, have you located the Chaos Emerald yet?"

'Yeah! It's…coming to you?!' said Tails, confused.

"To me?" Peter questions, raising an eyebrow.

BGM-Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 OST-Planet in Peril

"Spider-Man!" said a purple long-haired woman wearing futuristic armor colored black with purple glowing highlights, sporting a faceplate that has no eyes or mouth. She suddenly appears next to Spider-Man standing on a police car, posing like a stoic ninja with her hair flowing with the wind. "Love the retro outfit. Are you as primitive as these Public Eye wannabes that chased me in their antique vehicles?" She asks, revealing that she is a time-displaced villain from the year 2099.

"You mean police cars? Heck no: I'm state of the art." Peter quipped.

The futuristic criminal then glees with excitement when she spots Sonic escorting a few people to an aircraft, "Oh my gosh, is that Sonic the Hedgehog? THE Sonic the Hedgehog? The fastest thing alive in all of history?!" She expressed, being a big fan of Sonic and his legendary speed.

"You betcha! What do you want?" Sonic asked her.

"Was planning to race Spidey, but you'll be so much for fun to beat!" The futuristic criminal touches the police car with one hand, using a mysterious power to cause it to glow purple and transform into a deadly jetcraft for her to pilot. "Come on, old-timer: Try and catch Overdrive! Beat me and I'll even toss you this shiny gem I found." Overdrive 2099 introduces herself, while holding the white Chaos Emerald in her hand.

"2099 has its own Overdrive?" Peter quips, as he's familiar with the Overdrive of the current era.

Sonic chuckles excitedly by the proposal of the race, "Ah yeah! Not often I get challenged to a race by someone from the future! I accept your challenge! Let's do it to it!" He says while revving up his Super Peel Out.

BGM-Sonic Colors OST-Vs. Orcan & Skullian

Sonic rockets off at super speed, just as Overdrive 2099 does the same with her jetplane. Both high-speed racers race on a long track in the theme park, moving so fast that they appear as a blur and dash through Iblis Monsters without blinking an eye. "Nice! You're already keeping up with me!" Sonic smiles, as he and Overdrive are neck-and-neck.

"Not too shabby, right? Lemme kick things up a notch." Overdrive boosts farther ahead of Sonic, who whistles in surprise and excitement. She turns her vehicle around to face the hedgehog, attempting to gun him down with an energy machine gun as he runs on the road. Sonic swiftly moves from side to side to avoid her bullets, speeding himself closer to the criminal and attack her with several Homing Attacks, damaging her vehicle.

"You're pretty good, AND fast. My type of girl." Sonic complimented.

"Thanks. But flattery will not save you from KILLER embarrassment!" Overdrive fires a large, powerful laser at Sonic, who narrowly avoids it with a worried look on his face. She quickly flies to his side and launches missiles at him, destroying the section of the road he was on after he jumps and counters with a powerful Homing Attack.

Sonic lands on the road and begins running backwards with a smirk on his face, facing Overdrive 2099 who is desperately trying to catch up. "C'mon, c'mon! Is that the fastest your future jetplane could reach?" He taunts her.

"Somebody's being cocky. I like that. Didn't think I have to do this but I guess I have no choice. I will not have anybody be faster than me! Gotta go fast to the max! Activate Light-Speed Engine!" Overdrive activates her special engine, rocketing pass the surprised Sonic and accelerating her vehicle to light-speed levels. She chuckles arrogantly, "The only way he can beat me now is if he can run faster than the speed of light!"

Overdrive continues to chuckle, but at the corner of his sight, Sonic zooms right past her at light speeds, emitting a bright blue bio-electrical aura and unleashing a sonic boom as he easily breaches the sound barrier and rockets down the track. His electrified speed was so powerful that it left behind shockwaves that shatters Overdrive's vehicle, blowing her Chaos Emerald away while she is blown back towards a Time Rift that leads to 2099.

"NO WAY! Had no idea he could run THAT fast!" Overdrive 2099 shouted in utter surprise, "That was GREAT!" She said, surprisingly cheerful despite losing the race.

"'Great?' You know you just lost to my totally awesome speed, right?" Sonic smirks at her, braking to face her.

"It's not about winning; it's about the speed, the rush, the CHASE!" Overdrive says, while slowly being swallowed by the portal.

Sonic smiles in total agreement, "You definitely have a point. But 2099 just called; it wants its nutcase back. How about you answer it?"

"We'll have to do this again sometime." Overdrive smiled behind her faceplate.

"I hope next century works for you. Oh, and…pick a new name." Sonic quips, as Overdrive returns to her time period. "Now where did that Chaos Emerald run off to?" He glances for any sighting of the Chaos Emerald.

"HERE!" shouted a villainous woman, hurling pumpkin bombs that explode near Sonic and blow him away.

BGM-Sonic Colors OST-Vs. Rotatatron & Refreshinator

Sonic recovers, shaking his head and stares at a blond long-haired woman with green skin, clad in black and red Goblin Armor with a red cape and with a horned helmet. She's flying through the skies on her Goblin Glider, holding the Chaos Emerald that was flung from Overdrive's hand and being chased by Miles and Tails, via his X-Tornado.

"Was that…the Goblin?" Sonic questioned.

'Nope, that's Menace.' Peter contacts the hedgehog, 'Real name's Lily Hollister. She was one of Harry's old girlfriends until she accidently discovered his father's Goblin tech and got infected with the Goblin Formula. She's still pretty new at the job. Thought she was in jail.'

"Not anymore. Must've escaped through these Time Rifts. Things are getting crazy!" Sonic responded.

Meanwhile, Miles is riding atop the X-Tornado, as Tails pursues Menace through the skies. "Stop right there, Menace!" Miles demands her to surrender.

"Well, well…I should have known. No matter where I go, the little spider follows me to SPOIL MY FUN." Menace retorted, acting like a child.

"Actually, I was already here. How about I get YOU back where you belong, which is jail?" Miles quips, as the X-Tornado fires its machine gun at the criminal, who easily dodges them with a crazy smile on her face.

"Not without visiting the souvenir store, my little spider-knock-off." Menace chuckles, "But let me give YOU and the fox something to remember Menace by!" She hurls a barrage of pumpkin bombs at the Tornado, nearly blasting Miles off of it while Tails did his best to dodge them.

"Is she planning to visit the future through one of those Rifts and steal their tech? That would be one disaster on top of another, especially with that Chaos Emerald in her hand." Tails remarks, firing a missile that was easily avoided by the laughing Menace.

"Get me closer! I have an idea!" Miles told the two-tailed fox.

While laughing maniacally, Menace hurls numerous pumpkin bombs at the Tornado, which does a barrel roll to deflect the bombs. "Let's see you dodge THIS!" She grunts with annoyance, firing all of her glider's hidden explosive rockets at once. Tails destroys most of them with a machine gun, while Miles webs one and throws it back at Menace, nearly blasting her off her glider and slowing her down considerably.

"Was gonna say the same thing!" Miles leaps onto her glider, proceeding to clash fists with the goblinfied villain.

"Really think you can beat me, punk?!" Menace swings her brutal fist across his face, nearly knocking him off her glider.

"When I do this, yes!" Miles punches through the glider and electrocutes it with his Venom Blast, damaging it to the point that it catches fire and swirls down towards the ground.

"Can't control the glider! NOOOOOOOOO!" Menace screams in her defeat as she's about to crash.

Just before the crash, Miles jumps off of her glider and lands on the X-Tornado. "Adios, muchacha." He quips, as the jet flies away.

As Menace crash to the ground and is left unconscious to be arrested by SHIELD, her Chaos Emerald is still falling down high from the sky. "I see the Emerald!" Silver points it out while hovering near Peter and Agent Venom.

"Better nab it before someone else from another timeline takes it…" Peter quipped. Just before Silver could make a move to nab the Emerald, a Time Rift suddenly appears above him and summons a colossal and grotesque lizard-like beast that swallows the gem. The giant lizard drops down in front of the trio, startling Silver and surprising Flash while Peter remains calm and quippy, "Like whatever the heck THAT thing is." He pointed out.

BGM-Sonic Generations (3DS) OST-Boss: Biolizard

The giant lizard fires an energy barrage down at the three heroes from its mouth, forcing them to dodge them restlessly. "What IS this thing?" Venom asks whilst dodging the blasts.

"Clearly a giant lizard that wants to kill us and the entire theme park. At least it's not green!" Peter quips, as he charges at the lizard and kick its face with a Web Strike.

Sonic then contacts them through their comms, 'That's the Biolizard, the Prototype of the Ultimate Life Form created by Gerald Robotnik!'

Peter chuckles, "Wait, seriously? This thing is Shadow's big brother? I'm not seeing the family resemblance." He quips while swinging away from its energy mouth barrage, "How do you go from a giant, mindless lizard to a three-foot brooding hedgehog?"

'Aren't you supposed to be a scientist?' Sonic mocks, 'If you were, then you should know that its weakpoint is that life support system on its back.' He points out the Biolizard's major weakpoint.

"Don't need to be a genius to figure that out." snarks Peter, webstriking its mouth before jumping onto the Biolizard's pipe and grind towards its life support system, hitting it with a Web Strike that stuns it briefly. "HA! Take that, you overgrown iguana!" He mocks while swinging away.

"GRAAAAAAAAGH!" The Biolizard roars in pain before vanishing, much to Peter's surprise.

"What the?! Where did it go?! Don't tell me it knows Chaos Control?" Peter senses the Biolizard warping behind him, then violently whips him through multiple attractions with its tail, nearly leaving the hero unconscious.

"This mission keeps getting weirder and weirder with each new thing that pops out of those rifts." Venom quickly somersaults under the dark energy balls projected from the lizard's mouth, then zips to punch across its mouth and pins it down with thick webbing. The Biolizard roars, using its immense strength to easily rip through the webbing while forming several floating pink eggs around it and fire them at Venom rapidly. The symbiote soldier dodges some before bouncing off the rest towards the air at high speed, swinging over its life support and drops powerful grenades that severely wound the prototype.

"GROOOAAAAAAARGH!" The Biolizard roars in greater pain, rearing up and forming several eggs before starting to levitate both them and Venom in a disc surface.

"It's manipulating gravity? SILVER! What's the hold up, man?!" Venom shouts, floating helplessly in midair and blocking the bombardment of flying eggs.

"I'm nearly done! I'm coming, I'm coming!" Silver retorts, a tad annoyed from the request while using his psychokinetic powers to pick up various debris in Toy Kingdom, mashing them into a giant ball many times his own size. He glares down at Biolizard's life support system and shouts "METEOR SMASH!" and meteors the ball down on the life support, crushing it. The Biolizard roars in great and critical pain before exploding, erupting the Chaos Emerald out of its body and finally caught by Silver. "YES! I have the Emerald!" He smiles, extremely happily.

BGM-Sonic Generations OST-Cutscene 2

Just after the Biolizard was destroyed, Tails lands the X-Tornado as the team regroups near it. "I never expected to see Biolizard again!" He commented.

Sonic shrugs with a grin, "Eh, that was easy. If I could beat him, then Spidey and the others surely can."

"Don't patronize us." quips Peter, "Are the people safe?"

Sonic smiles with a thumbs up, "Of course! They've all been evacuated and the Iblis Monsters are gone."

"For now anyway. Until we can close the rifts, they'll just keep coming." Tails frowned.

"Then we should trust SHIELD will find Nega's base before we find the remaining Emeralds." Venom remarked.

"Hard to trust them since this is kinda their fault, but I won't let petty grievances stop the world saving." Peter quipped.

"Weren't YOU initially hesitant to add Venom to the team?" Sonic snarked.

"Get bonded to as many symbiotes as me and you'll understand why I was like that." Peter remarks snarkly, "But I am warming up to you, Agent Venom. I'm liking you more than when Eddie Brock was wearing that thing."

"Coming from you, that's an honor." Flash smiles behind his mask.

"My words are a treasure." Peter quips while jumping onto the X-Tornado. "C'mon, we have one Emerald! Let's hurry and find the others before the whole universe collapses on itself." He says, as everyone else jumps into their respective seats on the jetplane, before Tails flies them to their next destination.

KFX Here: Biolizard of the past. Menace of the present. And Overdrive of the future. The timeline approaches a temporal armageddon as the hunt for the Chaos Emeralds continues. Who will the heroes meet next when they track down the 6th Chaos Emerald? Find out next time!

Nexus240: The Sonic cast will NOT regain their memories of the Sonic 06 timeline, but there will be numerous references throughout this saga. Peter's parents reappearing as LMDs did not happen in this continuity. No Iblis Trigger. Mephiles will show up in a future storyline, just not this one.
