Cheering, Gina ran around the living room, hoping that she wanted a pet soon,
"Doggy! Kitty!"
Gina hopped on the couch, put her hands on Dim and Rosie's shoulder.
"Mommy, daddy! Can I have a dog and a cat for a pet?" she asked happily.
Her parents thought for a moment.
"Uh..." Rosie stammered for a bit.
"I'm sorry, honey, but getting both a dog and cat has a big responsibility," Dim answered calmly.
"What if we get you a pet aphid, like your cousin Flika has?" Rosie said with a comforting smile, but Gina cuts off, wailing as she flew away.
Dim and Rosie looked in confusion.
Meanwhile...
"I WANT A DOG AND A CAT!" Gina cried in echo.
Meanwhile, King Flik, Queen Atta, and Princess Flika are giving Aphie a walk, but when they heard Gina's sniffles, they look confused.
"Hey, what's wrong with Gina?" Atta whispered.
"What's she sad about, dad?" Flika asked in a whisper.
"Not sure. I'll deal with her," Flik whispered in a reply.
Then, he went over to Gina and said,
"Hey, what's with the sad face, my cute lil' niece?"
"I wanted a dog and a cat, Uncle Flik," Gina whimpered a bit, but paused with a smile,
"Wait a second, you CAN get it for me!"
"Oh, no, no, no. I could never," Flik responded as he waved his hands in disagreement.
Gina pouted as her eyes became big. Flik stared at her, and gulped.
Why does she want THAT kind of pet?!
"I've got the pet!" Flik yelled as he ran inside Gina's house,
"It is surprise..."
Atta, Flika and Aphie came as well, for a visit and playdate.
Gina stared at the cat mealybug. It softly meows. Gina gasped with delight, and ran over to it, hugging the cat mealybug.
"Kitty!" she cried.
The cat mealybug licked her face with a smile.
"Mr. Ant!" Dim said sternly to Flik.
"What? Gina wants to have a cute pet," Flik said embarrassingly.
"Like Flika's having a pet aphid," Atta agreed with a smile.
"Yeah! And his name is Aphie!" Flika said in agreement, but walked over to Gina's pet.
"Aww, it's cute!"
"Thanks, Flika! It is a cat mealybug," Gina smiled.
Aphie growled at the cat mealybug, who shrieked a little.
"Aphie, be nice to my cousin's pet. It wants to play with you," Flika told Aphie.
Aphie just shrugged, but was still caring about Gina's pet.
"This cat mealybug looks just like Shira," Rosie said,
"The pet of my twin sister, Sally."
So, what do you want to name your cat mealybug?" Atta asked with a smile to Gina.
"Kevin!" Gina cheered to her aunt as she played along with her joyful, meowing pet.
"Come on, Dim, just let our daughter have this cat mealybug. It's adorable!" Rosie said to Dim in comfort.
"You're right," Dim nodded his head.
A doorbell rang, and Rosie opened the door. It was Ramona! Her parents, Manny and Gypsy are with her.
"Ramona!" Flika and Gina cried happily.
"Gina, Flika!" Ramona said cheerfully, and the three cousins embraced each other in a hug. It felt like a bliss.
Kevin ran over in surprise, and it hissed at Ramona, who yelped.
"Oh, you cat mealybug, you better be nice to my dear daughter Ramona, this instant," Manny urged a little.
Rosie carried Kevin, who kept meowing, and said,
"Sorry, Manny and Gypsy, Kevin just needs some time alone."
As Rosie takes Kevin to Gina's room, the playdate got clear.
Sometimes, having a pet is somewhat a humiliating part of the family, but it just doesn't matter. Caring for it counts and helps it as a family, hopefully, indeed. The playdate got much fun when the girls are playing with their pets, Aphie and Kevin, who now remained calm. Their parents are watching them happily. This day could continue in next week often, for sure.
