Marinette was sat on a bed in a softly lit grey room. There were no windows shining light into the small square room, and the gentle hum of an extraction fan sounded in the background. Legs crossed as she leant against the wall, tired, dirty and slightly damp, she stared blankly at the door, wanting her memories to return. The ring which had enabled her transformation that had enabled her to escape earlier, was not on her finger, and her earrings were also missing.

The last thing she could remember, was barging into Adrien's room, still transformed, finding Adrien lying motionless on his bed, while Nathalie cowered under Gabriel's raised fist. Then, nothing.

Nothing, until she had awoken on the very bed she was now sitting on. Staring. Searching her mind for anything, any moment from what had happened in Adrien's room, but nothing could be brought back. The feeling of dread consumed Marinette, as she struggled to stay calm in the unknown surroundings.

A knocking came from the other side of the door, followed by a man's voice:

"Are you awake miss?"

Marinette found her words stuck in her throat, unable to answer.

"I think she's still out of it." The voice murmured.

Another man's voice replied, "open it up."

"But what if she's-"

"I'm awake," Marinette eventually managed to call out shakily and unsure.

"Miss, we mean you no harm...are we ok to enter?" The second man's voice sounded.

"Yes."

Marinette watched the solid metal door, as the lock turned to open it up. The light from the area outside creeping in as the door was opened with caution. Stood in the door way were two men, one she recognised as Chase, the other, she could not place, but something about him seemed familiar. They shut and locked the door behind them, sitting on fold out chairs which were attached to the wall, and handed a bottle of water to the bluenette.

"Miss Dupain-Cheng, we understand you must be very confused right now, but we need to explain a few things before we can get you cleaned up and properly assessed by the medical team." The man she could not place started.

Marinette sat not focusing on anything in particular, as she racked her brain in thought. Nodding in response to his words, she barely registered what he was saying.

"We have spoken to people who were present during the incident, and have collaborated their independent accounts to come to the conclusion; that while you were the one to carry out the actions, you were in no way to blame for them. We have spoken to Plagg-"

"Plagg?" Marinette snapped her head to focus solely the man sat beside Chase.

"Yes," he confirmed, "Plagg confirmed to us that he took over and acted through you in a moment of madness." He looked to her, to gage her response to this information. He was met with confusion as a look of bewilderment graced her smudged face. "Miss Dupain-Cheng, Marinette, you don't recognise me, do you?"

She shook her head, not knowing who he was.

"We met in a Café, two days ago." He said quickly, as what he was telling her was beginning to register. "I was wearing a disguise, I'm Jaques, and although that is not my real name, my identity still needs to stay secret." He looked at her, watching her process his words. "Your identity needs to stay secret too."

"What day is it?" She asked in shock.

"Friday," he replied, "you have been out of it for the whole night-"

"Where's Adrien?"

"In hospital," he answered, "he is conscious, but when he arrived, the toxicology report on his bloods showed high levels of sedatives, and an unidentifiable anomaly which has not been seen before." He gestured to her, "we need to check your blood too, to see if you have any traces of this same anomaly."

Chase spoke up, "maybe we should let Marinette get cleaned up and changed out of those clothes."

Marinette looked down, and realised just how disgusting her skin and clothes were. She nodded when looking back up to the men sat in the room with her.

"We need to keep your identity safe, so we will be required to clear the area out there before we can take you down to the shower and changing room." Chase informed her, "until we come back to get you, we will lock the door to ensure you are not discovered in your civilian state. Would you like to speak with Plagg?"

"Yes please," Marinette nodded, as she pulled her legs up to her chest. "Where's Tikki?" She asked meekly.

In response to her question, Chase held out her earrings, along with Adrien's ring, and Marinette took them gingerly. She rubbed her fingers over the items as the men stood. "Carapace is here also, and he will be able to join you once you have cleaned up and spoken with your, uh, friends."

Jaques informed her they would be back shortly with clothes for her to change into once she had showered, and the men left the room. She put on the ring as soon as the door was closed and locked once more. Plagg flew out of the ring, coming to rest in her cupped hands. Wanting to speak to only Plagg, she kept the earrings in her hand, making sure to insert them once she had been given Plagg's version of events.

"Hello Marinette," he greeted solemnly, "I guess you want to know what happened."

Plagg had seen through Marinette's eyes, the scene as she entered the room. His rage mixed with her immediate, intense want to protect, allowed Plagg to take over her motions.

In a fit of rage, Plagg called his cataclysm and launched himself at Gabriel.

Gabriel, caught off guard, managed to narrowly escape the hand that Plagg now controlled. Plagg was amazed at the anger he had felt from Marinette earlier, and was in awe of her menacing thoughts when faced with Agnès in the suit. Her emotions were strong, and he felt their individual thoughts merge as soon as she saw the cause of her love's pain. Taking the forefront of their combined minds, he pushed Marinette to the back of her consciousness, forcing her to completely give him total control.

Plagg lunged once again at an evading Gabriel, watching the evil smirk on his face, sneer at him tauntingly. Rena could be heard in the background, but her words did not register, as Plagg intensified the cataclysmic power to form a beam shooting out of his hand.

A shout rang out through the room and Gabriel's face shifted to fill with fear. The older man stumbled, as he failed to dodge the line of darkness which hit him square in the chest. The villain, who had plagued Paris for all those years, crumbled into nothingness, as the Butterfly Miraculous fell to the ground.

Before anything else could be said or done, the room was filled with masked members of the GIGN. Plagg allowed himself to be lead out of the room without protest, knowing that when the ring was removed, Marinette's transformation would drop. He informed the two officers at his side, that he would only speak to Jaques, surprised to hear his own voice exit the mouth of Marinette.

When they had reached the GIGN building, he was taken to the room Marinette had found herself in when she woke. He instructed Jaques to bring Carapace to the room to remove the ring from Marinette's finger to give her rest. Once the ring was now present on Carapace's finger, Plagg proceeded to explain the events of the night. He ate five times his size in Camembert, while also informing them on how Marinette was not a willingly active participant in the death of Gabriel Agreste.

Marinette sat silent, as she listened to Plagg's account of the night before. Internally chastising herself for allowing her emotions to get the better of her, thus allowing Gabriel's death.

The question on the minds of both Plagg and Marinette was:

'How will Adrien feel about their actions leading to his fathers death?'
