"You can run from your past all you want, but it will always follow you. Forever and ever and ever and ever." ~Durarara!!

Shikaku wasn't exactly pleased by his late night summons to the hokage's office. He was even further from ecstatic when he was informed on just why he was summoned. Watching one of his best friends preform a mind walk on a child the same age as their own children made his stomach turn even more. Requested or not it didn't change the vacant look in the tiny redheads eyes or how when she fully came too just how broken they looked.

Then when Inoichi went on to say everything he'd been suspecting and confirm those suspicions Shikaku decided that this was just great. He'd never had any problems with either of the Uzumaki twins. Sure Naruto had been a little hellion and had caused lots of the jonin grief but he never had issues with the boy. Of course he'd never made any effect to change the situation the two had often found themselves in, and that Mitomi getting to this point was probably roughly all of their faults.

Especially his.

Minato and Kushina had been his friends. He could have done something more for them, as the head of his clan… Shikaku decided a guilty conscious would do him no good now. No one could change what had already happened.

The past was unfortunately in the past for a reason. There were no restarts or redos to fix your own mistakes. All any of them could do now was try to be better. Do better by the children of the Yondaime.

"So you've had this knowledge your entire life and just now decided to come forward. Do you know how suspicious that is?" The Godaime spoke looking directly at the girl standing next to Inoichi. Mitomi's expression turned to steal as if she had no care for the consequences of her next words.

"Why would I share information with people who do clearly didn't like or trust me? The only reason you have even learned my truth now is because there is no other way." Bit out the tiny teen, steal in fire in her voice. Heat on her tongue. She was not happy about this.

Tsunade just about growled at the teen slamming her hands down upon the desk. "You ungrateful brat. I am your Hokage, you should be a little more respectful."

To show how much she cared about that statement Shikaku watched as Mitomi crossed her arms with a slight huff. "Anyone who has to declare themselves the ruler is honestly not worthy of their title. To think the Godaime feels so insecure of her post that she threatens a little girl. Don't worry Lady Tsunade I'm not my brother I have no desire to sit in that seat." Shikaku groaned. Yes she was definitely the Yondaime's daughter. She had inherited his sharp tongue it seemed.

Minato may have been nice but he'd never in his entire been one to tolerate bullshit.

"How dare you." And apparently his ability to not give a shit too. Mitomi just stared blankly at the irate Godaime. Obviously she didn't care.

Shikaku cleared his throat drawing their pissing match to a pause. "As important as this argument is Lady Tsunade aren't there are more pressing matters to get too." He pauses his sentence to stare directly at Mitomi. " What is it exactly you want from us? You said there was no other way. Way to what?" The girl took a moment before she offered a small pleases smile.

He'd just asked the right question so now she could get to whatever point she was trying to make. "First of all you can formally execute Shimaru Danzo for his treacherous actions against the Leaf village. Ordering a massacre alone would be enough to justify it. Not to mention that when you tack on ROOT and the murder of my parents-the Yondaime and his wife, it's a crime to let him continue living." And of course what she wants isn't a lighthearted request.

What she wanted was a public execution.

"And we're just supposed to take your word on it? Reincarnated or not is no way to verify information." Tsunade sounded done. Outraged and irritated. Mitomi offered her an extremely displeased look.

Disappointed is what Shikaku would peg it as if you asked him. Man this was turning into a major headache. He really needed a drink.

"Yes you should, it would make this easier for everyone if you just trusted me." Shikaku could feel the spite, the bitterness of her words.

Trust.

Yes it would have made this an easier process… but as it stood there were very few people in the village who actually trusted the red headed Uzumaki girl. Even when her brother started to warm people over to him there was still something about her demeanor that unsettled people.

They didn't trust her.

They never had.

He listened as Inoichi interjected his own opinion on the matter. His teammate of course had a better understanding of this whole thing, having delved into her mind gave him an insight the rest of them were still missing.

"Perhaps it would be best if we all take a moment to collect ourselves and resume this with clear heads." It's a suggestion for their Hokage to get a hold of her emotions and for the girl in question to really think about her actions.

Mitomi huffs annoyance obvious. She turns those sharp disappointed eyes at Inoichi. "My head is clear thank you, I'm still thinking corrosively. This is entirely too important for us to take a break just because some people cannot show more control over themselves." She states viciously, impatiently.

Shikaku bit the inside of his cheek. This was beginning to become a problem. They needed to come to an agreement soon, before either Tsunade or Mitomi exploded. He couldn't shake the feeling that if it were the latter it would be a huge headache.

Tsunade drew in a breath through her nose. "Despite how easy you assume to pull this off all of the 'evidence' is subjected and some even S-rank secrets. And furthermore, I can't just take your word for it Mitomi, an honorable elder of this village reputation, honor, and morality is being questioned here." Wrong answer, Shikaku could tell immediately by the dark look that overtook Mitomi's face. She was not pleased, she ran her hand over her face concealing her eyes from view.

The half demented laugh to follow set them all on edge. She dropped her hand to reveal red foxlike eyes.

"You are a disgrace. His honor? His fucking honor?! Are you kidding me? Where was his honor when he kept fueling the flames of the third war? Where was his honor when he decided to pit children against one another? Where was his honor when he fucking let Uchiha Obito MURDER MY PARENTS!! I expected better from you of all people." Her last sentence is barely above a whisper, it sounds so defeated. And then just as he sees tears began to stream down her cheeks in what is probably frustration Mitomi disappears from the office all together.

This had turned into a bigger problem than he'd wanted to deal with that late at night. He watched as Tsunade runs her hands over her face before reaching for a hidden bottle of sake. She settles in her chair turning her attention to Inoichi.

"Can you verify the truth to her accusations? Is she really telling the truth? She said Uchiha Obito is the one who killed the Yondaime…" Tsunade trails off. Inoichi nods his head slowly.

"I combed through everything, every corner, crevice, her entire mind. She's not lying. In her life before this one this world, our world was a children's story. That's how she knows, everything we've ever done was documented in a book published for children to read." Inoichi takes a moment to collect his next thoughts. To put them into careful words.

"We're lucky that I'm her heart she loves her brother more than even her own self. If not this could have gone so much differently for all of us."

As it stood Mitomi only held loyalty to one person. The only person who had ever put all their faith in trust into her. Shikaku sighed.

This was extremely problematic indeed.

If anything ever happens to Naruto… he didn't even want to think about what exactly she'd do to them.

It wouldn't be pleasant that's for sure.

XOXOX
