It sucked.

It utterly sucked.

How on earth could she get sick now? Kazuha had a very strong immune system and rarely got sick, but somehow she did! And on Halloween too!

Halloween was Kazuha's second favorite holiday after Christmas, and she looked forward to it every year. She loved dressing up in costumes with Heiji and going out to party with him. She loved eating candy and making pumpkin pie. She loved the spooky vibes and autumn weather. She loved everything about Halloween.

But there she was, sitting on the living room couch, surrounded by a sea of dirty tissues, while watching videos of her friends enjoying Halloween. She groaned in frustration and turned her phone off.

Kazuha sighed and leaned back against the comfortable cushion to try and make her headache feel better. She rested her eyes for a few seconds before she heard her doorbell ring. 'Ugh trick or treaters again'

Kazuha groaned and struggled to get up and reach the door. She grabbed the bowl of candy that was next to the door.

When Kazuha opened the door, she instinctively looked down to see the kids, but instead, she saw long legs. She slowly looked up and was met by her childhood friend's face grinning at her.

"Heiji!" Kazuha exclaimed in surprise, which she immediately regretted as her throat hurt like hell. There he was, standing in front of her wearing his peter pan costume.

Kazuha knew that Heiji didn't like this costume, so she thought that since she can't celebrate Halloween this year, then Heiji would happily and without hesitation throw his costume in the trash.

"Easy now," Heiji said in a cocky manner as he walked in the house, "I know you're very excited to see me, but go easy on your throat."

Kazuha rolled her eyes at him but smiled nevertheless because she was indeed excited that he came. Then she noticed that he was carrying a backpack.

Kazuha pointed at it, and said in a quiet scratchy voice, "What did you bring with you?"

He looked at her and smiled mischievously, "You'll see, but first you have to change to your costume."

Kazuha whined, "But I'm so tired, Heiji. I can barely walk from the couch to the door. There's no way I can walk upstairs"

"I won't accept any excuses," Heiji said before he pulled Kazuha closer to him and carried her bridal-style causing her to squeak.

The sudden movement made Kazuha dizzy, so she just held on to him and buried her face in his chest to hide her blush as he carried her upstairs.

Heiji slowly put her down when they reached her room, "Now go change into your costume," Heiji said, "Or do you want help with that too?"

Kazuha's face turned red from anger and embarrassment, "Get out!" She yelled then she started coughing from the pain. 'God I hate being sick'

"Fine! I'm out, I'm out."

After Heiji went out and closed the door behind him, Kazuha changed into her tinker-bell costume, which was a huge challenge for her.

After she was done changing, Heiji carried her downstairs, which was unnecessary but she wasn't going to complain, because one: she didn't have the energy, and two: she enjoyed every second of being held by him.

"Okay now, aho-bell! It's time to have some Halloween fun!" Heiji exclaimed after he set her down on the couch.

"You're the aho," Kazuha said in her quiet scratchy voice.

Heiji ignored her and kept going on, "First, we're going to have a Halloween dance!"

"Huh?" To say that Kazuha was confused was an understatement.

Heiji took out small speakers from his backpack and connected it to his phone, "We're going to have a Halloween dance, aho. Did your cold affect your hearing too?"

"Shut up."

Heiji held both of Kazuha's hands and slowly pulled her up, and danced with her. He made sure to dance in a way that wouldn't make Kazuha too tired but still enjoy the music. Heiji knew how much Kazuha loved to dance, and Kazuha knew how much Heiji hated to dance to these kinds of songs, so she was very surprised by his behavior.

"I thought you hate dancing," Kazuha said as Heiji slowly twirled her.

"I do, but I like you," Heiji slipped up.

Kazuha stopped and looked at him in shock, "What?"

"What?" Heiji said and swallowed visibly. 'Oh shit'

"You said something."

"Nope, I didn't."

"Yes, you did. You said you like me."

"Kazuha, don't say nonsense!" Heiji said, and Kazuha could see beads of sweat appear on his forehead, "Let's watch a horror movie! That will bring you back to your senses!"

Before Kazuha could say anything, Heiji went and grabbed a CD from his backpack. Kazuha sat down and watched him with narrowing eyes as he was preparing the movie.

After a minute, Heiji sat down next to Kazuha, "Don't start clinging to me when you get scared."

Kazuha huffed and said, "I don't need you. I'll just hold my pillow."

But in the end, she did cling to Heiji, because no pillow was going to make her feel as safe as she does with Heiji, and she knew that he didn't mind from the smile he had on his face whenever she got close to him.
