Two days later- Cyborg
It feels surreal knowing Raven is in the Med bay right now, I never thought I would see her around here ever again and now she is out like a light in our infirmary. I try to keep my mind off of it though and turn my attention to the recruits I am supposed to be training. I think even they can tell my mind and circuits are else where. Jamie has been the most help, hasn't been asking too many questions on how we know she won't wake up and attack us. Conner however...seems a little un edge. His dad probably told him stories about Raven and what she can do. I know most of the League doesn't have the best views of her.
Jamie's beetle has taken over for his protection as Conner runs full speed of Jamie, the bug's guns have been drawn out and pointed directly at him but waits until he is close range to fire. Conner is shot back breaking through our cement scaling wall. Great. Conner groans getting to his feet and racing towards Jamie again this time the bug doesn't wait until he is close, now it fires three bigger shots directly into Conner's chest. Once again Conner gets to his feet, fuming.
"Okay! Let's not damage anymore walls okay?" I say Jamie's beetle de-forms it's armor releasing back into itself. If only I could figure out how this thing works I would have better ideas on how to help him control it.
"He shouldn't be able to close range me like that!" Conner shouts
"Anger dude!" I yell back he sighs dusting off his pants as Jamie gets closer to me.
"How is the girl?" He asks I shrug
"She's been better. Hasn't woken up yet but that's how her healing works." I reply, it's also been nice to have someone else to trust with watching over her. When we have other things to do, as of late we have been taking turns staying by her side to be sure if she wakes up she doesn't flip out. However With Garfield being a father that has been slightly harder on him.
"Loco, I am sure she will wake up soon. She came here for a reason. You could get the job done Ese" He says, I nod and smile to him.
"Wanna go let Garfield get back to Rae?" I ask he nods throwing a towel over his bare shoulder as he makes his way into the Tower's air conditioning.
I too make my way to the Med Bay, I want to check her vitals again. A nasty habit I have of needing to know if there has been any change at all, it helps me keep my mind off the bad things that could happen or wondering how she got this wounded. Being Stabbed three times? Doesn't seem like something that would happen normally if she could help it at all, which means there were other things that could have happened. As I open the door I panic, Blue Beetle's armor is back up with it's gun pointed straight at her, while she sits awake in the bed with a black shield over her.
"I can't control it!" Jamie yells through his blue mask
"Garfield has his hands up trying to seem as non threatening to the beetle as he can, any type of danger it thinks it is facing it goes off. Raven's shield goes down as she looks over at the Beetle, for a minute neither of them move but her eyes are whited over. Then the armor goes away.
"How did you do that Ese?" He asks, her eyes droop from lack of blood as she leans back down onto the bed. She looks exhausted. Being in the clear I step closer to her looking over her vitals on the machine.
"Can I check your stomach?" I ask she nods weakly, I lift up her shirt seeing the wounds are gone completely, I nod to her as I put her shirt back down. "You are healed. You still have low blood levels it looks like so you are going to need a lot of sleep for the day until your body replaces it"
"What am I doing here?" She asks
"You uhhh...teleported here. We didn't know what to do or what happened so we just did what we could" Gar says, she creases her brow as if trying to remember what put her here, I only think she remembers because the look in her eyes change.
"Jason cheated. I left." She says I don't know why but I feel a sudden urge to bang Jason's head into a wall.
"How did you get hurt though?" Gar asks
"Ummm...the girl he cheated with she is working with someone in a cat mask and someone really fast like Flash fast was wearing his colors too" She says, I look to Gar and he nods already on his phone getting ready to dial.
"Get him over here" I demand Gar nods walking out of the room, I don't think she has caught up quite yet with our train of thought but that's fine right now she needs to rest. "I need to ask you, you woke up panicked while we were trying to stop your bleeding and you told us not to tell someone you were here. We haven't told anyone since we didn't know who you were talking about but...who?"
"Anyone...Jason is with the Wayne, we were helping on a mission. If Jason knew where I was I think the girl would find out and then they would know where to find me. I can't trust my powers right now" She replies sadly
I don't ask for any more information just look over at Jamie who knows what I am thinking already, stay with her. I walk back out into the Hallway where Gar is on the phone whispering into it. He is already late to go wake Rae up for lunch so I can see his hurry and the obvious urgency. He nods hanging up the phone and shoving it into his pocket.
"They are on their way" He says
"They?"
"Bart and Wally are also bringing Barry. I guess this is a whole problem for the flash Clan" He says, it makes sense someone with Flash like abilities hurting someone or helping hurt someone is probably a problem.
The sound of something glass breaking followed by the voice of Wally snapping at someone alerts us that they have arrived. I should have known to clear some space, Bart doesn't always have the smoothest of stopping skills. Gar and I both walk through to the living room as Bart and Wally argue about whose fault it was that the lamp now shattered on the floor broke. Barry just pinches his nose with irritation. The moment they see us, they fall silent.
"Is she okay?" Wally asks I nod
"She finished healing and woke up just now, I don't know who would be wearing your colors and have your ability who would be working with someone who hurts old Titan members or even someone with the Bat Clan" I reply, Barry nods
"Reverse Flash, I knew he would be cooking up some sort of plan" Barry replies
"Why did he attack her?" Wally asks I shrug
"I don't know but he knew she was leaving. He was working with the girl who Jason Cheated with. They planned that attack on her." I reply Wally's face distorts into a kind of shocked but yet very irritated at the same time, I forgot about their history. Not that they ever dated but back when Titan's East was first coming to they had a little flirt thing going. After that they were always great friends. He was on of the few who didn't agree with the Leagues choice to kick her.
"Jason cheated? With the girl who attacked Raven? Does he know?" Wally asks I shrug
"I don't even think they know she's here. She teleported mindlessly while trying to get help after being stabbed...three times" Gar adds, I look over to him in shock
"Mindlessly? That's a big word for you bro"
"Can it" Gar snaps I snicker to myself
"Do you want me to alert the League, this is League level threat, if Reverse Flash is in with some more bad people" Barry asks I shrug
"Do you know anything about someone wearing a Cat mask? Raven said she was involved as well" I ask Bart and Wally look at each other and then back to me, so they do know something, calling the Flash Clan was a good idea then.
"Cheshire, she's an assassin level, where's a painted cat mask" Wally answers, well now we know two of the players, this leaves the mystery girl that Jason...dumbass.
"I don't think the League will care much" A voice monotones from behind us, Jamie comes running in behind the form of Raven who seems to be having a hard time staying up right. Too much blood loss will do that to you.
"Raven believe it or not, not all of us were okay with you being kicked. When Batman and Superman and WonderWoman say something, the rest of us listen." Barry says She shakes her head
"Batman isn't who I am worried about, he's extended his olive branch." She says collapsing onto the couch " I don't think this is a matter for the League, yes whoever did this had to know Jason was going to cheat and could be planning the whole thing but I am sure we can handle it"
"That's the thing you can't Reverse Flash would only be doing this to find a way to get to us. He works the system of other peoples plans for his own. I think he plans on doing a lot more than this" Barry replies.
"No one can know I'm here. We don't know the extent they have of knowing things." She says, everyone nods in agreement with her.
It's true none of us know how they knew so much and were able to succeed without anyone seeing or anyone being suspicious. Somehow they knew that Raven was going to be by herself and there is too many unanswered questions to go head first into this. I look back at Raven, she looks paler than normal and the color from her cheeks is drained. I wonder how she got here if she wasn't trying to come here, did her teleportation just take control and teleport her anywhere she could get help?
"We could say you went to a hospital and they notified us. Remember the hospitals here were told to tell us if you came in" I suggest, she doesn't disagree but she doesn't look like she is whole their either, her eyes struggling to stay open and her head leaning on the back of the couch sleepily. She sleepily puts up a thumbs up and then drops her hand back down in her lap probably falling asleep.
"I need to go wake Rae up for her lunch" Gar says excusing himself to the bedrooms. Bart and Wally exchange looks and then both pairs of eyes fall onto Raven's sleeping form.
"I am sorry for what happened" Barry says
"We all are, but it doesn't erase it." I say he nods understandingly. I never will understand why they never tried to fight if they didn't agree with it. Isn't that why there is so many of them? To make sure they all agree and to not make wrong choices, Obviously a flawed system.
"I'll tell the League she showed up at the hospital, attacked by Reverse Flash. It will get to Batman and I am sure he will either fill in the Bat Clan or keep it on the down low if we ask him to" Barry replies, We all nod as he speeds out of the tower leaving Bart and Wally here, under different circumstances I would be happy to see them, want to catch up but it seems like this isn't the time.
Gar walks into the living room with Rae in his arms, her sleepy head against his shoulder, I swear she gets bigger everyday. He sets her down in the Highchair next to the counter walking through pouring some apple juice into her sippy cup. I can see her start to wake, stir as her eyes open more. Everyday she looks more and more like her mother and I worry about the affect it has on Gar, if it bothers him he doesn't show it.
"Here baby" He says softly handing it to her she takes slightly longer to grab it from him but when she does she wastes no time drinking it.
"Hard to believe she's three now" Wally says, Gar nods
"I know, it feels like just yesterday she was born. It went by so fast" He says as he pops some frozen chicken nuggets in the oven.
I can say I have been impressed with how he has handled having a child. We all thought he wouldn't ever want them to eat meat. However he hasn't let his own views on eating animals affect what he feeds lil Rae. He also happens to have grown up a lot since having here. A part of me is definitely proud of him, not that I'll ever tell him.
Present day- Dick
It's never good news when Bruce calls me into his office, never. The twisted feeling in my stomach makes me think I am going to be sick but I haven't eaten anything yet. I can't eat when all I can think about is how much I want Raven back here to tell us she is safe and sound, we have looked everywhere through the City. Especially Jason. I don't think I have ever seen him like this but it is obvious something is tearing at him.
I walk into the office sitting down in the leather chairs, Bruce has his hands folded neatly on his desk and he looks into my eyes, I can't read his expression but boy do I wish I could. I want him to skip this dramatic pause and just tell me if he knows anything, did they find her body? If she safe?
"It appears...she teleported herself to a hospital in Jump. Your team was notified. After she gave her description we thought it best to keep it on the down low" Bruce says finally, I feel my heart leap from my stomach. So she's okay? Thank fucking god.
"So why are you telling me?" I ask
"We are keeping it from Jason." He answers, that tells me most of what I need to know. I think. "Raven described two people the Young Justice League and the Flash Family have come into contact with, which would be Reverse Flash and Cheshire"
I crease my brows trying to see the connection here, why would that need to be kept from Jason? He would surely help track them down and pummel them. I don't think I have ever seen him so ready for a fight.
"I think telling Jason might help" I admit he shakes his head.
"I'm not finished Dick. She said the girl Jason cheated with. Was with them. Which means the whole time she was working with them. We don't know what they want or who else they are working with. We also don't know how much info they have and how they are getting it. How they knew Raven would be alone when she was. Telling Jason could blow the cover. They don't know we know" He explains, it all connects in my head and I slowly nod as he speaks to make sure he knows I understand.
"I won't tell him. Though, if they used Jason to get to Raven then we should tell him. Make sure that girl doesn't come near him." I reply he nods leaning back in his chair
"I agree, however I don't know how I could do that without telling him. He would suspect" Bruce answers, he's right. There isn't a way out of this in which we keep our knowledge a secret and keep him away from her.
"Where is she?" I ask letting my concerns take over
"With the Titans. No one can know she's there. You aren't supposed to know either. So keep it to yourself" Bruce orders, I nod
"I will" I reply getting up from my seat. I feel a bit lighter knowing that she is safe. That I know she is okay. I need to head to the Cave and do as much research as I can about the girl. Need to know where she came from and how she convinced Jason to sabotage his relationship.
I don't make it all the way there before Jason bumps into me blinded by more of his aggression for himself and to whoever attacked Raven. I wonder if Raven knows that it could have been a set up. I have too many questions rolling their way into my head without any answers. But I will find them. I look at Jason stalking his way to the training room the only way he will get his aggression out I am sure. I can see the green tint in his eyes. I turn back to my own mission sitting down in the desk chair and logging in. It would help if I knew her name. I don't even think I know what she looks like.
"Hey Bruce just filled me in, what the hell are we going to do" Tim says I shush him gesturing to the computer.
"I need to find out about that girl, I don't know what she looks like or her name, but you said she worked at the movies right?" I ask Tim nods moving behind me to look over my shoulder, he clicks away something I can't keep up with and then it loads up a screen with many different faces.
"Check for someone named Tess in the workers database." He commands, I do so scrolling through them hoping anyone would jog his memory. I don't think he see's anyone who does. We reach the bottom of the page and still nothing. I sigh almost in defeat.
"Well her name is Tess, I know that. She is blonde...maybe five foot four and...umm I don't know. Maybe we need to figure out how she got to Jason and then back track from there" Tim says, I nod it makes sense. If she used something special to get him we can find it from there.
"He seemed pretty himself, so I don't know how she could have done something to him. Maybe he is just a cheater" I reply Tim nudges my arm
"He did seem like himself, though if you saw their interactions you would see he was confused. I don't think he knew why he was drawn to her" Tim replies, I roll my eyes. Sure Jason isn't an awful person but we can't rule out that maybe he was just easy. Jason could have very well seen some girl who wanted to fuck who happened to be working with the bad guys and just went for it. It wouldn't be the first mistake he made.
"Okay so what? Some tech making her irresistible?" I ask, she shakes his head but thinks deeper.
"Or power? Think about it...maybe she's a Meta." He suggests, I do think about it and as much as I hate to admit it...it would make sense. If she is a Meta though she would be in the Meta Database which means we can find out. I turn around in my chair towards the computer clicking away until I can find myself in the site. I have needed this site many times in the past so this...this is nothing.
I search up her name, and go down the surprisingly long list of Tess's that happen to be in the database until Tim stops me pointing to a mug shot of a blonde. I click on it allowing it to take me to her file. Tess Goods She was arrested four years ago for robbing a bank. She somehow seduced the guards into letting her through but couldn't do the same for the women so when someone called the police and a women cop was the one on the scene before she was Meta cuffed she was put in jail. Released on good behavior. Hasn't been in trouble since.
"So what caused her to pop up now?" Tim asks
"If she tried to get her life together she wouldn't be so easily drawn back if she was doing good. It says she hasn't been in trouble for so much as Jay walking I doubt she was itching for crime. And to go after Jason. Something else is behind this" I say
"You think Reverse Flash put her up to it?" Tim asks I shake my head, no Reverse Flash has only one motive.
"No, he has no need for Raven. He is after the Flash Family. I think all three who attacked Raven are working for someone else." I answer
"Okay...who? Witch boy?" He asks
"No...I think if Witch boy was behind it and he wants Raven's powers to himself he wouldn't send minions to get her out of the way. He would come get her. So...I don't think they are after her at all. I think they needed her out of the way" I answer as the pieces slowly start to come together.
"Okay...who? Why?" Tim asks
That's the question isn't.
