Vlad was still laying on his bed with his eyes closed, Jack and Maddie beside him, when the house shook. Vlad's eyes opened and he looked around him. A scanner on Maddie's hip began beeping.
"Level seven ecto entity detected." Maddie read off from the screen.
"What?" Vlad said, sitting up. "That's impossible. There's nothing here like the ghosts in Amity Park."
"Well I don't know what else it'd be, unless…" Maddie gaped. "Did Phantom follow us here?"
Vlad internally rolled his eyes. "Maddie, I don't think-"
Jack gasped. "That must be it! Why else would there suddenly be an ecto entity with that high a level here?"
"Jack, Maddie-" Vlad tried again, but the house shook and the ghost hunting pair opened the door and took off down the stairs. Vlad followed after them, wary of whatever was waiting for them outside.
As Vlad makes it to the bottom of the stairs, Anastasia turns and looks at him, her brow furrowed. "Vlad what's going on? What is that thing outside?"
Making his way towards Anastasia, Vlad looked outside to see a large ghost nearly the height of the house. It was sniffing at the ground.
"Jack and Maddie say it's supposed to be a ghost. We don't know why there's a ghost like this here though, usually these ones stay in Amity Park."
"You don't see Phantom, do you Jack?"
"Nope, it looks like it's just the one."
The ghost roars and starts heading down the driveway towards the road. This prompts Jack and Maddie to get out their weapons, cocking them as they open the door.
"You can't tell me you're gonna go fight that?" Oliver asks.
"Well we can't let it get into town!" Maddie exclaimed.
The ground shakes again and Jack and Maddie head outside, Vlad quickly following behind them. They head down the driveway, tucked behind bushes and trees until they have a clean shot of the ghost.
Jack takes the shot, the ectoblast firing and heading straight for the back of it's head. When it makes contact, it fizzles out into nothing. The ghost roars again, turning around.
Jack and Maddie both fire rapidly at the approaching ghost. Each hit fizzles off of it's pelt, never leaving a mark on it.
"It's too strong!" Maddie said, firing another shot. "These weapons weren't designed to take on a ghost this powerful!"
"Keep firing! We can't let it get back to the house!"
Time seems to slow as Vlad watches the ghost finally let loose an ectoblast with the swing of it's tail. Throwing himself in front of Jack, he blocks the blow with his own ectoplasm, fighting it back until both the ghost's and his own ectoplasm singe it's fur.
"Vlad?!"
He ignores Jack's shocked shout behind him, instead focusing on the ghost that just let out another roar. It begins charging and Vlad fires shot after shot of ectoblasts with the swing of his arms.
It keeps getting closer and Vlad finally shouts over his shoulder at Jack.
"You guys need to get back to the house! It's too dangerous!"
"What about you?!" Jack exclaimed. "How are you doing that? We can't just leave you here!"
"Jack, please, trust me on this! Leave me to it. Get back to the-!"
Vlad's eyes widen as a hit collides with his side. Looking down, Vlad sees a splatter of pink ectoplasm staining the grass below him along with his jacket. With a shaking hand, Vlad presses down on the wound.
He shoots a couple more shots at the ghost, but soon he's crumpling down on the ground, falling into Jack who bent down to catch him.
"Vlad? Vlad, c'mon. I need you to stay awake. Please-"
Vlad's eyes droop shut, the sound of Jack's voice and Maddie's gun fading out until he's left with nothing.
