Stephanie could see in Paul's face that every time Murphy had to go with Randy, he hated it. He tried to cover it up but Stephanie could see it over the last two months. Stephanie was in her office at the arena. The kids were with Paul. There was a knock at the door.
"Come in." She said. Randy walked in. "Hi."
"Hi."
"Can we talk?"
"Sure." He sat on the edge of her desk.
"I wanted you to hear this from me first."
"Is everything ok?"
"Yeah." "I'm proposing to Sam this weekend."
"That's great." "I'm really happy for you."
"Thanks."
"Nervous?"
"More then I've ever been in my life."
"I'll bet." "Don't be everything you be great." "Do you have it planned or are you just going to wing it?"
"I'm taking her to our favorite restaurant." "I'm proposing during dinner."
"Don't worry she'll say yes." "I know that's what you're worried about."
"I am."
"She'll say yes." "She loves you."
"I've had talks with Murphy about it, she mostly just listens though." He said smiling.
Stephanie laughed. "Yeah she's a good listener."
"You don't have to worry." "Sam loves Murphy."
"I know." "I'm not worried." "Have you thought about what you're gonna say to her?"
"I've thought about it but it all seems so stupid in my head."
"I'm sure it'll come to you when the time comes."
"I hope so, I don't want to sound like a dumbass."
"I'm sure you won't." "Obviously I can't come to the wedding but I'll make sure you have Murphy that day."
"Thanks."
"Even though I want to marry Sam, you'll always have a special place in my heart."
"That's sweet."
That Saturday Samantha and Randy were at the restaurant. Randy's heart felt like it was going to pound out of his chest.
"They always have great food here." Samantha said.
"Yeah." "Sam um…
"What?"
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"When you came into my life I didn't know I needed you." "Now I can't imagine my life without you." He took the ring box out of his pocket and opened it as he got down on one knee.
"Oh my god." She said with tears in her eyes.
"You're so great with Murphy." "I love you so much." "Samantha, will you marry me?"
"Yes." She said tearfully. He put the ring on her finger. They kissed.
