DUN DUN
Present day-Dick
Since the moment we got here it feels like something could go wrong at any moment. We are far enough from the building not to be seen but close enough for us to see everything that goes in and out of that building. I have my eyes peeled for anything yellow blurs, I have my communicator on too. I need to know if something goes wrong. I guess I will know anyway if Reverse Flash shows up, but I feel for some reason having a line to Wally helps me feel like I am not leaving him and his family out to die for us.
The others haven't gotten here yet, Cyborg is going to Boom here as soon as they think it's free, and Raven just needs to teleport herself into the building, luckily they are also over comms. Allowing us all to stay in contact with each other. In these type of missions I feel like I need to. Tim is by my side looking down at his tablet hastily doing something on it. I never know what he is doing on there, coming up with back ups of his own. I guess it is his way of calming his nerves.
We have been waiting up here for the last ten minutes, even though it feels like so much longer. It always feels like longer when you are just waiting. Especially when your nerves feel like they are going to go into hyper drive, that could be my ADHD though. I notice a slight shake in my hands as I perch myself up on this building. It could easily be a thousand or so feet away. I start planning my way over, how I am going to approach. For now we want to stay back in case...Wally wasn't successful.
"Time?" I ask
"5:27, Three minutes still go time" Tim replies his voice is void of any real emotion, it just sounds dutiful.
We fall back into a silence the nerves seem to fall away the longer the clock ticks, I notice movement around the building and set my domino mask to zoom, looking for whatever is moving. I see Jason in his Red Hood uniform dragging a large case onto the roof. Something tells me he isn't just getting fresh air. I notice him kneel down to the case but the wall on the roof is just at hip level for him standing up so it blocks me from seeing what he is doing.
"Is that Jason?" Tim asks looking up form his tablet
"It is" I answer
"What is he doing?" Tim asks unable to see either
"I would have to guess they are making sure that if something happens, he is there to make sure no one can come in or out. Which means they might know something is wrong" I answer. There isn't a way they could know. Reverse Flash hasn't even started running yet. We still Have sixty seconds. Which feels like an hour to me. E
"Be safe, don't let Taila kill you" I say looking to Tim, he just nods placing his tablet onto the edge of the roof of the adjacent building we are using. It was the only building close enough for us that also had concealment for the boom tube.
I tense up as the clock ticks by, my watch on the inside of my wrist finally clicking 5:30. It's time for us to move, I hear the boom tube behind the building, we picked that spot because even if Taila had her eyes out she wouldn't be able to see it. I don't look for anyone behind me, I keep my eyes trained on the building and that's when I see it. The rifle. They have Jason sniping, which means it is either going to prove that he is on our side, or prove to us he is on their side.
"Alright, I'm in" I hear someone monotone over the comms, I breath out in relief knowing that means the power is out and Reverse Flash hasn't made it back. It's not over yet.
"Are you secure in the Batcave?" I ask, I don't hear a response right away and it makes me nervous. I keep my eye on Jason and his gun as he looks around through the scope of the Rifle. "Raven, are you secure in the Batcave?"
"Zarinna is in the Batcave, Alfred is watching her. I am coming back" She says I exhale deeply rolling my eyes at her not replying right away, I hear footsteps behind me that I recognize. Cyborg and Garfield have mad it up to the roof.
"Tess met us back at the Boom Tube like planned, she is on her way to the Tower and then Raven will Teleport her to the Batcave." Cyborg answers, I nod looking through to Jason who I think by now knows everything has already taken place.
"We need to wait for Raven to come back before we can go in. We don't stand a chance against Witch Boy" I admit, no one disagrees.
5:27 -Raven
Vic and Garfield seem to be more on edge than needed, we have this plan down as long as no one fucks it up. I half-assily meditate trying to keep myself centered and focused while also making sure all my emotions are in check. I haven't though much about how I am going to react when I see Jason. I just know I can't let my emotions get the better of me in the middle of a battle. It could be deadly to everyone involved. We try to seem like we are not waiting around for something to happen, Conner and Jamie sit in the room with us talking about something I haven't been keeping track of as Cassie sews something in her lap while bouncing her leg as if she is going to be going with us.
The Clock strikes 5:29 and I get up from my meditation walking away from the middle of the living room to get to my bedroom. It's the only place I know for sure will be dark enough for be teleport without draining me too much. Everything right now is riding on the hope that Flash family can get their part done.
My alarm beeps, telling me it is time. I suck in a deep breath and allow myself to squeeze through the darkness, when I open my eyes the room I am in is completely dark, I wave my hand in front of my face and don't see it. Perfect.
"Alright I'm in" I whisper into my comms
"Are you secure in the Batcave?" I hear Dick ask on the other side, I don't reply
Sensing someone else is in the room I follow the small sound of their rigid breathing. A soft whimper escaping from them as well. Me grabbing them will probably scare the absolute shit out of them. I just hope I am grabbing the right person. Quickly I grab hold of someone's shoulder, I can feel them jump under my touch as I hastily squeeze us through again. When I open my eyes once again I know I made it to the right place, Alfred sitting in the desk as poised as ever. The girl I grabbed looked for sure to be Zarrina. She looks around terrified, breathing in and oit hastily.
"Where am I? Who are you?" She asks I roll my eyes
"I need to go get Tess" I tell Alfred, I tell her as well hoping she calms down knowing this isn't another kidnapping. Well okay it is but, to safety.
"Raven, Are you secure in the Batcave" Dick repeats, I roll my eyes sighing loudly
"Zarrina is in the Batcave, Alfred is watching her. I am coming back" I reply before stepping back into the dark.
I come out into my room and hastily make my way to where the Boom Tube would have dropped Tess. She sits in the middle of Jamie, Conner, and Cassie all watching her with care. This could still be a trap and I don't plan on giving her free access to the tower. Jamie's bug wouldn't allow for him to be tricked with her spell and Cassie may be bi sexual but Tess wouldn't risk it on someone she doesn't know is into girls. They move aside allowing me to grab her, she follows me back into the darkest room her heels clicking behind me.
"I'm sorry for stabbing you...twice" She says, I scoff as I squeeze her through again into the Batcave. She looks like she is going to throw up when she steps out of the light. Tess looks around with her hand on her stomach, she is wearing the exact same thing she tried to kill me in. I watch as she hugs Zarrina tightly gasping with shock. I don't wait around for anything else, as I head to the building where everyone is waiting for me at.
The inside of the building is dark enough I didn't use much more energy as I fly my way up to the roof, everyone sits at the edge of the room with their faces all towards the building I was just in.
"Alright should we do this?" I ask startling everyone, they jump turning around to see me. Vic smiles while shaking his head rubbing his forehead with his index finger.
"Don't sneak up on a brother like that" Vic jokes, I crack a small smile moving to the front next to Dick and Tim.
"Starfire in position?" I ask Dick nods
"She's ready if Jason tried to shoot any of us. Though I have to admit that wasn't what we thought was going to be the case. We didn't think she meant to snipe us" Dick replies, Starfire we thought would be needed for some more muscle since she is stronger than all of us. If we need her to do some heavy lifting she is ready. She is also bullet proof and metal can't really phase her, so if she needs to get up close and personal to anyone who likes to stab, she's there. I nod as I levitate myself down. If anyone was going to be ready for this it had to me be. If Witch boy finds a weakness he will exploit it.
Dick and Tim pass me on their way, I almost worry about them as they get closer in range of the sniper, what if he tries to miss but doesn't? What if he isn't trying to miss at all? I can't help the feelings of mild panic but I push them down and allow myself to take a couple of centered breaths. The first shot I hear sends shivers down my spine but when I look around both Tim and Dick are standing. Allowing my soul self to take over I shift through the bricks of the building going through the walls and into an open hallway. It's dark but I don't seem to have any problem. I levitate to be sure not to allow anyone to hear my footsteps. I can feel the energy of someone close to me, it has to be Witch Boy. He is the only person with an energy stamp this large. I can hear voices, two people talking which tells me more about where they are.
"We can't fight them all in the dark" Taila says, I know it has to be Taila.
"Then go outside" a snotty voice replies, it has to be Witch Boy. I can hear another gun shot from outside which must alert Taila.
"We might have to" She spits, against my better judgement I choose to go back outside. If they both are coming out I should be out there before Witch Boy gets his hands on anyone else. I keep going through the dark hallways shifting through the walls as my soul self. When I finally feel the warm air of the outside I make myself solid again as Dick and Tim are finally getting to after avoiding so many bullets. Is he aiming at them for real?
"They are coming out" I say to them both, Tim looks over at Dick unsure on if they should keep their plan in tact.
"It's dark, they can't see. We have the advantage" Dick says I shake my head
"Not if Witch Boy finds you first" I counter, they both scowl but Tim takes a step back shaking his head.
"I'm going inside. You guys can stay out here for all I care" Dick grumbles shoving past me and into the building. I sigh turning around to follow him inside I can't let him get himself killed. The air in here is thick and humid. I am not sure why but it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stick and a bead of sweat roll down my back. I can keep Dick close to me, following where he goes. As we turn another corner I hear a grunt followed by blows being blocked or hitting.
"Attacking in the dark how original" Taila says
"Where's your magic dick?" Dick asks, I scoff to myself. What is it with Robins and their god damn nicknames
"He went out side, he needed to get some insurance that we would get what he wants" She sneers before another punch lands. A small panic rises in the pit of my stomach. Dammit I should have stayed out there.
"Raven" Dick grumbles
"On it" I say allowing my soul self to absorb me taking me to the roof.
I don't hear anymore gunshots and that is what worries me more than anything else. I get to the roof and become solid seeing Witch Boy's familiar holding Jason in a tight clawed grip. Jason struggles from the inside but doesn't seem to be able to free himself and if he does he will drop right onto the cement.
"Klarion" I growl he turns his head to me an evil smile spreading across his lips
"Ahhh The gem! What a treat!" He sneers
"Let him down...safely" I monotone.
"I don't think I will...but you can come get him" Klarion replies, I suck in a deep breath throwing an AC unit from the roof at the big Cat using my soul self, it hits but all it seems to do is piss both Klarion and Teekl off.
"No Fair!" He squeaks sticking a hand out as a random rope appears wrapping around my ankle and dragging me to his feet. I use my magic to cut me loose as I struggle to get to my feet. I can feel his powers trying to enter my mind but I force them out.
"Are you too scared to let me into that head of yours?" He muses taking a step towards me, I glare putting my soul self into a pipe and ripping it from the roof, I release it to him but he opens a pocket dimension and lets it fall into it. I keep myself backing up from him as he tries to close the distance between us. He throws out a spell at me, one I don't know but don't want to know what it does. I throw up a shield allowing it to bounce off. It hits the roof and that part of the room crumbles down.
My heels hit the edge of the roof one more step and I could end up falling. I release a breath of annoyance as Klarion moves towards me, I put another shield up as his hand reaches forward. He glares at me putting his hand out once again looking at his hand with concentration. I see as his blue fingers start to move through the shield. I struggle holding the shield further but don't drop it.
"Let me in" He struggles to say
"NO" I reply pushing the shield out making him fly back. He rolls onto the roof and I take off towards Teekl who has tightened it's grip on Jason. Jason struggles trying to get himself out but also knowing he won't be able to do it safely.
"Starfire!" I yell out, I see her lowering herself down and I point to the large cat
"Get Jason out of there" I say she nods and begins her attack on the cat which at first does nothing but attempt to swat her away. She doesn't stop.
"No Fair!" Klarion yells out sending a spell to me which hits in my chest.
I stumble back struggling to breath before not being able to feel anything, my legs or my feet. I can't even move my hands. I groan as I struggle against the spell. Klarion gets to his feet dusting the small rocks which cover the roof off his hands. He closes the distance between us once again an evil smile spreading across his blue lips. I fight harder against the spell as he gets right in front of me placing both of his hands on the sides of my head.
"Let's see what is in here!" He squeals with excitement. I get a rush of pain before my vision goes bright white and when the white fades I am in a dark place. A place I don't want to be.
I am back in the bunker.
present day- Tim
I couldn't go back inside and risk facing Witch Boy, he almost killed me the last time I went up against him. However so far Cyborg has been shut down by some kind of device and Garfield has a large Gorilla is trying to grab up this slippery Cheshire Cat. I think we all almost forgot about her. I manage to jump to the left barely missing one of her kicks as I extend my staff. I use it to block her large blade she seems to pull out of no where. She swiftly takes her blade back tripping me before I even know she has dropped down. Beastboy does manage to grab her but not for long as she sends her blade into his gorilla hand. He drops her and shakes the hand with some strange pain noises I have never heard a gorilla make before.
She comes at me hard thrusting her blade out with every intention to stab me in the gut. I kick her blade away grabbing it for myself. Not that I know how to use but I don't want her to have it. I send another kick hitting her mask and she stumbles back. A piece of the mask breaks off revealing a very light chin. Even with the mask I can tell I have pissed her off. She comes at me hitting me hard in the jaw with her foot. It hurts but it doesn't at the same time. I guess adrenaline has made that very helpful input.
Beastboy tries to grab her again but fails as she jumps up once again, I put my Staff up to block her blow which it does as I also kick out. My foot connects with her chest sending her flying back which allows Beastboy to finally grab her in a "bear hug" type position. Which keeps her arms to her sides. I put a hand to my jaw which has now started feeling more of the pain of her kick. Cyborg's lights begin to twitch back on as he glares over at the two of us.
"Why do I always get knocked out?" He asks
"We might need a full body cuff for her." I say rubbing the left over pain in my jaw.
"Nah, I got this" He says as Beastboy lowers his fist to the ground. One of Cyborg's fingers move into a needle as he presses it into her shoulder. Within seconds she goes completely limp, Beastboy lets her go as Cyborg puts cuffs on her feet and hands. Good, the more secure the better.
"Do we need to help anyone?" Cyborg asks as Beastboy turns back into his human self
"Uh...Jason is hanging from a Cats hand" Beastboy says pointing to the giant cat holding Jason in it's paw. Looking at the cat sends chills down my spine remembering the last time we had a run in with it.
"We should Help Dick, he went in by himself and hasn't come back out" I suggest. Without question everyone nods as we begin to head into the building to hopefully help Dick kick Taila's ass. Let's just hope she hasn't already killed him, since apparently no one is pulling any punches today.
