Hello.
This is for day thirty: weapon.
I don't own Legend of Zelda or Linked Universe.
Enjoy!
Ever since her creation, Fi knew what her role was. She was the Goddess Sword, the weapon of the Hero, crafted by the Goddess Hylia to be used by Her Chosen, a weapon used to destroy evil. Meeting Her Chosen went according to how she predicted it would be: the one chosen by Her had an 87% chance of accepting the role.
The odds were sufficient enough for Fi to continue following Her previous orders.
Master Link, as Her Chosen was called, was not of an age recommended to do the will of Her Grace. He was barely older than a child, yet with the spirit able to wield the Goddess Sword. Fi assisted Master Link whenever possible, relaying to him information about observed enemies and life throughout the Surface. She would warn him when his health was inadequate, and Master Link would speak to her.
Fi understood the words he used to describe Her Grace Incarnated and friends. She knew the meanings of all the words, all of the speech acts beneath his sentences, yet the words he said would never match with his facial emotions when he spoke of one called Groose.
But when he spoke about Her Grace Incarnated, both his words and actions matched. He never spoke wrongly about Her Grace Incarnated, and he seemed to always smile at his memories. This information wasn't critical to their quest, but Fi remembered it anyways. She could understand the concept of emotions, but she didn't have any of her own. Analysing Master Link, she could only come to one conclusion:
Master Link was in love with Her Grace Incarnated.
A weapon had no emotions, it didn't need to feel. A sword did not care for whom it was foin. Master Link loving Her Grace Incarnated didn't change anything regarding their quest, it was impractical information. Emotions were inoperable, they clouded judgement and compromised efficiency in battle.
Such as with every encounter with Ghirahim.
Through their quest, both Master Link and Fi grew stronger. He forged her in the flames of the goddesses and made her stronger; he completed every obstacle given to him and thrive. Soon, she wasn't the Goddess Sword anymore, she was the Master Sword. A blade worthy of the titles donned upon her through time.
Fi did care for Master Link. She was his weapon; she was there to keep him safe. And although she did not feel emotions, she held a slight concern regarding his safety. When they had to depart, she could sense his sadness and grief. But she had to remind him that her duty was over and that goodbyes were never forever.
Master Link was her master, and she cared for him.
She told him this in her own way before slumbering dormant.
A child pulled her out of the pedestal. She recognised him as her master, but he was much too weak to wield her. There was an 89% chance that trying to wield her would kill him.
He was placed in a sleep. Through that time, she kept watch over him. He was her master, the one chosen to be the Hero of Hyrule. She never left the blade, rather keeping to its confinements for she was not needed. Another, Navi, informed her master of all the information she would explain.
When he awoke an adult, he left the Sacred Realm. Her master was stronger, powerful, yet still a child. The mind did not necessarily grow as the body did. In his actions, in his hope, she could still see the childlike wonder and optimism that had left the world during his slumber.
She knew he wasn't fond of her. Although her master never spoke of his anger and hate out loud, she had become accustomed to understanding facial expressions. Master Link had been quite expressive facially. There was nothing she could do to ease his pain; she was just there to help him fight evil. Comforting distress was nothing she was able to do.
So, she didn't. She stayed as a sword on his back, shining with the light of the heavens as he charged against the Evil King.
When he put her back in her pedestal, she slumbered once more.
The timeline shattered.
One timeline: she was abandoned. Broken, rusted, alone in the forest. With no master, she merely slumbered once more, waiting for her master to prove himself worthy. She knew he was out there; she could feel the presence of the Triforce. There was a 76% chance he would come.
Then, her master came. He was a few years older than her fallen master. He stood on the pedestal and pulled her out, she shined with ancient power as the hope of this world stared at the blade with hardened eyes. Being in the forest, she didn't know what had happened to him, but a child should never have that look.
Much like with Master Link, he gave her more power. The means weren't godly, rather done through mortal equipment. But, as she shone with the bright orange glow of power, she knew that her master did not mean her harm. In fact, she felt more grounded than before, stronger, sharper, and the power that left her in her slumber returned.
She had no idea what she would look like.
Yet, in the end, all went well. There was only a 23% chance they would fail.
Her master used the Triforce to fix the broken, to resurrect his uncle, to save the world. He didn't return her to the pedestal in the forest of overgrown vines and bushes. Through his next quests, she stayed with him and saw him slowly break, until the child with the hardened eyes she met years ago cracked and hid himself away.
She wished she could comfort him.
The master after did not retrieve her.
One timeline: her master was coated in darkness and dark magic. She fought against the darkness, fought against the wolf that slowly moved towards her. No! She was created by Her Grace in order to help her master against the darkness, she was not going to allow him to be consumed by it!
There was a 56% chance this prolonged submission in darkness was fatal.
He tumbled to the ground, the last of the darkness fading from him. For a second, he merely breathed, then, he stood and raised her from the pedestal. The darkness was condensed into a crystal, which he wore around his neck. With her beside him, he would never be consumed by the darkness.
Or, so she hoped.
This master was nothing like her last. He was as old as Master Link, if not older, and could harness the darkness she purged from him. This cleansed darkness did not harm her master, so she did not fight against it.
She fought with him against the Evil King, against who tried to destroy all that was good about the world. She fought with him as Her Grace Incarnated's blood used a bow of light to strike the vile fiend.
They succeeded in their mission as she nestled in the Evil King's chest. He froze, and although he didn't fall, his lifeforce stopped.
Unlike her last master, her master replaced her in the temple where she slumbered. She felt him leave before turning away and resting for her next master.
One timeline: a child pulled her from the pedestal. Her power sealed away from her true potential as her master left the ruins of Hyrule. The land of her master was one full of water. Strapped to his back, she sailed with her master once more.
Her master took her all across the world, restoring her long-lost power as she finally became whole once more. This time, her master was a child, older than the previous. As he slowly strengthened her power, he became stronger as well. When she opened, he was powerful enough to wield her.
They fought against the creatures of the sea and land. They fought against phantoms and puppets. He used her once more as she was plunged into the forehead of the Evil King.
Time returned to normal as her master sailed all across the world. He was so optimistic about the world, so full of a life that her previous master slowly lost. It reminded her of Master Link, of their interest in the world, and of their love of exploring.
Her master was going to grow up to be one of the greatest.
Before meeting Her Grace's Chosen, she met Master Link. Fi was awoken when Skyloft was attacked by monsters, she left the Goddess Sword in order to help her master fight against evil. Master Link was so powerful and confident that it would be his undoing.
Fi was not present when Master Link pulled her from the pedestal. But she could feel him becoming stronger with every monster slaughtered and enemy killed. This was war, she would go where she was needed, and she learnt more about the world.
She helped to protect Master Link when the Evil Sorceress had him cornered by her dark creations. If none of his allies had arrived, there was a 79% chance of his demise. But, working together, everyone managed to defeat the creatures of the Evil Sorceress.
Even though she was not there, she knew the moment the Evil Sorceress had been killed. Portals were opened and she returned to Skyloft; Fi returned to the Goddess Sword, where she slumbered in wait.
Her master used her against the Evil King as he rose and took over the land. She kept him protected from danger and he used her to defeat the enemy.
As with every war fought, her master was victorious and she was returned to her pedestal.
The timeline merged.
Her master failed.
Her master died. She felt his lifeforce stop as Her Grace Incarnated's blood clutched his body. But he wouldn't stay dead—no! She would not allow that to happen. There was still a way to save him, a way to bring him back.
She pulsed with an energy she long forgot as she told Her Grace Incarnated's blood.
As her master was taken to help, Her Grace Incarnated's blood took her to the forest. There, she would be protected underneath the eye of the Great Deku Tree. Her Grace Incarnated's blood spoke to her, and she waited until her master would return.
Time passed and the creatures of the forest comforted her in her slumber.
Then, her master returned to her. He was warned about her power but still he persevered and freed her. Once again, she was in her master's hands. Although, he had changed mightily from the young boy she first met—if not in age, then in spirit.
The world changed as well. Death and destruction littered the ground and everything her previous masters built had crumbled. She watched everything, analysing and remembering all of the fallen structures, the new structures, and the people they met.
He was so different from when he last wielded her. Through the years of slumber, he had grown stronger and more determined, but more broken and alone. She tried to comfort him, but he didn't understand.
The Evil King was an abomination. He wasn't even anything relating to humanity anymore, he wasn't a king—he was a beast. A scourge. The Scourge fought against her master, and she felt her power from Her Grace strengthen into the bright blue colour of the Goddess.
It didn't take long before the Scourge was defeated.
Her master saved Hyrule, and he freed Her Grace Incarnated's blood. They returned her to the pedestal for rest. She pulsed for them once more before falling into a slumber.
Under the eyes of the forest, she could finally rest.
Later, she would see all of her masters in the same spot. All of them would be safe as she could care for them in her own way. She hadn't seen any of their faces in centuries, but she still knew what they looked like.
All of her masters, safe and sound.
Hope you enjoyed!
Fi's an interesting character. And when I saw this prompt I thought, "Hey! Fi's a weapon!"
Can y'all believe this is the second to last day of Linktober 2020? I can't! It felt like October flew by! And this year, I wasn't as stressed as last year! (Probably because I didn't have to spent like 6 hours away from my computer in school)
Anyway, I don't know what else to say…
Fiddlerinthewoods OUT!
