As soon as he killed a bear that they came across a while back, Jak held onto Daxter as he rode his jet board to find some help, as he tapped into the eco that he somehow kept inside himself to use for Daxter, panicking quickly in his head.

"This is really bad. I should have been more careful in putting Dax in charge of the first watch when that bear attacked. What am I going to do? What am I going to do?" He thought as he looked down at Daxter before remember the time Keira used bandages on his form when he himself was injured, thus he stopped on his tasks at hand, after stopping in a cave to protect him from the elements and starts working on his quick patchwork on Daxter's wounds while trying to remain calm before sighing and left him to rest while sitting on the ground to think in deep worry.

"I'll stay here for you Dax, as you were always there for me. I may not want to admit it, but I had a crush on you for some time as we were kids and frankly, I couldn't express it without harming my friendship with you and Keira would be upset with us flirting with each other, so I kept it inside myself. Samos should have warned me about this." He sighed and stood up for the time being while he waited as Daxter, his best friend, to recover, which kind of lasted for about three to four days when he changed his bandages and such until Daxter woke up from his fever on the fifth day, which Jak was grateful for his friend to feel better, as well as having less sleep for that time period.

"Jak? What happened?" He asked as he was waking up from his rest.

"It's ok. You have been out for five days after that bear attacked you." He said to him while getting some water for him to drink as he is caring for small form, which Daxter accepted in great thirst for water for that long.

"Thank you, Jak." He breathed while wiping his mouth with his arm as he sat up slowly. "Ow…"

"Take it easy Dax." Jak said as he picked him up gingerly into his arms while hopping onto his jet board that he can travel on, thus he kept going to a friend's place to let Dax recover more on the way.

After a while of travelling, they stopped at a fancier hotel than the last one that they have been in and it was abandoned due to faulty plumbing and some mysterious events that happened in the past, but it was slightly cleaner than before, thus they took a rest there.

"Ehh… Jak I don't trust this place." Dax said as he was wary with the scene in front of them.

"Relax, Daxter, we can handle it together while you are recovering." He said with seriousness while going in and explore.

Daxter hang onto Jak's shoulder while weary as his own chest was healed with some time and all that remains is a scar on his chest.

The two walked in the hotel. It was more fancy, Yet has that creepy feel since no one was in it. Jak walked in the place with his ottsel friend on his shoulder slightly shivering a bit of fear

"Don't worry Daxter, I will protect you as you will to me."

Jak walked around slowly as Daxter was on his fours shivering a bit. Then one of Daxter's ears flip straight up as he heard a noise

"Hey Jak, I think I heard something."

He tapped his shoulder as he motion his head to the noise, Jak nodded as he walked with him. He opened a door then the noise was getting louder. The two boys walked downstairs slowly. Jak bent over quickly seeing that they were too late. Daxter grunted in slight pain placing his paw on his chest

"Dax, You ok?"

Daxter looked up to Jak as he took a deep breath

"I'm fine, Just don't go so fast. Anyway, we should get moving or som-"

As Daxter was about to finshed that sentence, they heard a rumble in the tubes. Then Jak looked closer and saw some dark eco, he gasped as he quickly ran but it was already about to burst. He gripped Daxter's body and looked at him deeply

"It will be ok, Daxter.. It will be ok"

Daxter placed his paws on his hands, tearing up and shaking his head

"Jak, don't do this.. Please don't"

his ears lowered as Jak was tearing up a small bit. It was very rare to see his ottsel friend be upset.

But his crush.

It was very odd for him to love an animal but he was once human, He patted his head and looked at him deeply.

"Daxter, Trust me."

Then he threw him up to the roof as Daxter quickly gripped onto some wood. He was shivering a lot, mostly worried for Jak as he was tearing up lots as he looked at him deeply in worry. Then a loud bang came as parts of the metal tube broke and landed on the ground as lots and lots of dark eco came out as a flood of darkness. A small bit of dark eco hit Daxter as he quickly fell over and landed on some table. Then lots of dark eco came onto Jak as he fell over, covering his whole body.

Some small sparks of dark eco lighting was around.

Daxter grunted as he slowly woke up, feeling very weak and dizzy. He placed his head back down as his body healed. Then after a couple minutes of quiet. The room drained as Daxter woke up. He placed his paw on his head and groaned

"Ah jee.. that felt werid. Wonder if Ja-"

Then he quickly got up and ran on the edge only to find Jak's blue clothing. He gasp as his ears lowered to his back tearing up. His eyes lowered as he was taking quick breaths. He leaped off of the table and rushed over to Jak's clothes. He went on his knees, picking up his sleeve.

"Jak... no no... please..."

He was starting to cry as he pressed his face to his sleeve then he crawled onto the clothing and laid down like a dog crying as he whinced. He lost his friend, His ally, Brother. But little did Daxter know Jak had someFeelings for his ottsel friend. After a while of sobbing, he felt movement. Daxter's ears went up as he felt it. He thought it was a rat that was in the tubes. Then he heard a simliar voice that is muffled

"Its dark, Can't see."

Then he gasped he did not touch the movement. Then ears peeked out of the clothing. It looked like some ottsel ears it was like Daxter's but black at the tips of it. Then he saw some paws coming up as he saw two stripes on his wrist like Daxter's bright two orange stripes but black with gloves. The his face peeked out. It was Jak, he could not believe it. He knew it was him due to his hat that shrunk and his green goatee.

Jak looked at his arms then his shirt. Then Jak started to panic a small bit

"Dax? Imma... Imma, I'm like you... A precursor."

He was quickly breathing from panicking. As Daxter placed his paws on his shoulders and looked at him deeply

"Jak. relax, Breath.. Let's just take a minute to process"

As he and Jak took a deep breath. Daxter shouted

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?! YOU'RE LIKE ME!"

Daxter was not wrong. Besides him being a ottsel. He really did look like Daxter. Like really looked like him. The exrta chest fur fluff. The body just.. everything was like Daxter's.

Only diffrence was the slight taller height, The darker shade of orange fur. Even his front body part was a slight darker shade. His feet had some black spots and his tail was also had that black spot on the tip of his tail. The tip of his ears had that black marking. His paws was covered in that black markings. His wrists even had that two strips Daxter had but black. And his green goatee along with his eyebrows having that green still. Some of his fur on the tip of his head was green also.

The only things that Jak got to keep was his scarf, hat, goggles, and gloves as it was small enough for him to wear.

Jak placed his paws on his shoulders

"Daxter! We need to take a breath!"

The two ottsels looked at each other. Jak was calm but Daxter was worried for him. But Jak's mind was going crazy with stuff

he said in his mind

"I think my feelings for Daxter grew. Now that i am like him i feel much less afraid since I had feelings for him when I was human and he was an animal.. Oh god, but how will Keira, Sig, Torn, and Samos, All the others react.."

Daxter was starting to calm down as he looked at Jak

"Guess you lost your shoulder partner now ey Jak?"

He chuckled a bit as Jak smiled softly.

"Come on, Dax. Let's get out of here."

The two ottsels walked back upstairs and quickly ran out the hotel. Jak looked at Daxter

"Guess were now The Ottsel Brothers now huh Dax."

Daxter chuckled a bit as he wrapped his arm around his neck

"Yeah I guess so."

The two walked away from the hotel and started walking back to the HQ where they were staying for a bit. Little did Daxter know. Jak's feelings for Daxter grew a lot more since he is now like him.
