I believe I forgot to mention last time, in case you haven't figured it out Phantom Planet has not happened, whether or not a meteor starts coming towards the Earth at some point though is up in the air, or space, at the moment.
Disclaimer, I do not own Danny Phantom or Cultivation Chat Group. DP belongs to Butch Hartman and CCG belongs to Legend of the Paladin.
Trust me, this will be a better read if you open the web-comic along with reading this, mostly so you can see the chat and emojis you can't see here. It's difficult to type certain emojis and it certainly doesn't have the same feel as the web comic/manhua. This chapter starts from chapter 2 of the comics.
Sorry for the slow start, things will speed up at some point, however if I speed up too much I'm going to run out of content too quickly. I'll try to come up with my own content here and there so that things aren't exactly the same as the web comic but don't expect too much.
Warnings: Slightly OOC/more mature Danny, slow start/chapter, censored swear words.

Still May 19th, 2019 - 3rd Person POV (Danny Focused)
After Danny's first patrol for the day, nothing too interesting occurred, no criminals to stop or citizens to help it was just a normal peaceful day, which Danny appreciated, he may have gotten used to fighting so often and may or may not have developed some bad possibly eager to fight habits in his years as Phantom, but peace is still always preferable. No big supervillains or world ending threats to take care of, just a nice invisible flight around the city keeping an eye and ear out for any trouble that may be around. It was nice. On a slightly less related note, this is also why Danny has come to not dislike Christmas as much, the peace treaty is a very nice break to get.
Back to the topic though, Danny had finished his first patrol for the day, and since he was supposed to be playing sick didn't really have any classes for the day, he just gamed, watched some movies/shows, did some left over home-work and started making a plan for what he might have to do if he's about to be in the company of cultivators in the near future, ones that would most likely very much want to seal or enslave him if they fin out what he is, though he really wasn't sure what he should write or make plans for, knowing the future is Clockwork and The Observants' thing and he highly doubts either will tell him what to prepare for.
"Sigh~. I just don't know what I should be preparing for, the most I've ever really planned things in the past was how to lie to everyone and hide my secrets. I don't know how to do this planning thing-" Danny grasps his hair and the sides of his head as he thinks or more aptly agonizes, "I've always just faced things head on and hoped things would work out, usually with a fight first ask question later approach, which now that I think about it again, really was a bad habit, huh? Anyways! The plan. Ugh. C'mon Danny your not C student anymore your more mature, you've got chest hairs, you've got experience, you've got this. Okay so first I should obviously try to keep my secret from the cultivators as much as possible, or better yet just not let them find or meet my ghost half in the first place."
Danny keeps staring at the open notebook in front of him, the reason he's even trying this method of doing things in the first place is because Jazz, Clockwork, and even Pandora have told him he should try planning things sometimes, instead of his usual hotheaded approach of heading into danger head on. And this definitely qualified as danger since he had no idea what kind of people these Cultivators are.
"Wait, wouldn't they just be able to sense my ghost energy or something? I mean, I don't really know much about Cultivators but I've still come across the basics and their stories that anyone thinks of when you mention Cultivators, they use some kind of spirit energy, flying swords, defeat monsters, which I'm pretty sure I count as to them, meditate, and sense the spirits or souls of other people, right? Agh, maybe I should just ask Clockwork or Ghost Writer what they know, surely that would be a lot."
Suddenly when Danny looks down he sees a note written in his notebook.
"You're on the right path but I've instructed Ghost Writer, Pandora, and Frostbite to not tell you anything for now, good luck. -CW"
"SERIOUSLY CLOCKWORK! Hah~ I guess I'm on my own then. Should I band together with Shuhang since he seems to be involved in this too? Hm, maybe later for now I'll just keep thinking." ... "Maybe if I meditate I'll think of or find something? Worth a shot I guess."
Danny falls through the chair he's sitting on and lazily floats up to his top bunk bed. He's really glad he doesn't have room-mates, though he still somewhat suspects that's due to an outside interference. Elsewhere, Vlad sneezes, "Huh, am I getting a cold?" "Come on, Plasmius, join us for hot cocoa!" "Coming, Frostbite."
Danny sits in a cross legged position and thinks about what he's supposed to do next. As Danny ponders exactly how to meditate he thinks to start with what he does know, clearing his mind and breathing in a relaxing controlled manner. So he does just that.
It takes a few minutes for Danny's mind to fully calm down and his breathing to regulate, he may not need to breathe in his Ghost Form doing so only out of habit but he still does in his human form, mostly, when he was testing how long he can hold his breath in his human form he ended up unconsciously transforming into his alter-ego, that was a scare for everyone involved.
Not really sure what else to do Danny decided to try to sort of feel his insides or something, since that's another thing he can remember Sam describing about meditation. Grimace. Yeah, he really doesn't want to think about her right now, back to thinking about himself, or his insides whichever. Eventually after a moment of searching Danny actually did find something, something very familiar that he has become very well acquainted with over the last few years, something very comforting, something cold yet warm in a strange way. It was his core. His core isn't a physical or material aspect or object in any way, not really for any ghost, at least it isn't most of the time but that's a more forbidden topic, it's a much more metaphysical and ethereal entity than can be comprehended, in essence it is our essence, our soul and being. It's also much more than that but Danny has yet to receive those more advance lessons just yet.
Danny just relaxed his body and mind in the bask of his core, while in his human form and not transforming, he hasn't reached out to the core to will a transformation just basked in its comforting nature. A couple years ago, had he done this in his human form when he was fully used to and accepting of his nature, before he had gone through what he calls his "ghost puberty" (which involved a lot of ecto-acne, that certainly didn't help his standing at school), his human side's instincts would be screaming at him to get away from the supernatural and unnatural existence, from being so close to the unknown existence of death, now though? Now it was a welcomed existence in both his forms. Good thing that he never got this close to his core before then, then.
An odd thing he noticed however was that his core seemed to be a little buried?, sort of like it was trying to hide itself but still be accessible, it felt sort of like a combination between a thin ecto-shield and his partial invisibility ability were surrounding his core, he assumed that was probably due to the fact he was in his human form, and while he was partly correct, it was also because of a certain bracelet on his wrist.
Eventually Danny did get what he was meditating for, more ideas to use regarding Cultivators and how they may soon enter his life and what he should do. So he reluctantly left his meditation, and floated down, to, and through the chair into a seating position to write in his notebook.
Had Danny not been so focused on his core and letting his mind wander in whatever way he willed it he may have noticed another existence around the same place or plane as his core, something more empty, waiting to be filled.
"Alright so, I may have to work on concealing my ecto-signature or ghostly energy, but I get the feeling that I'm not going to like the feeling of burying my core any more than it already is. Hmm. Well I guess I'll see what happens and if I'll jut have to bare with the uncomfortableness or something. I'll see if I can bring my energy or aura to stay within myself and see if that helps. Next order of business is whether or not I'm actually going to try cultivating myself. *Smirk* I'm not dumbing fertilizer on myself, though I guess life does that for me anyways. *Snicker* In all seriousness though, the easiest thing for me to do would be to just avoid the cultivators but that is probably not the best idea considering Clockwork has probably set this up, but it's not like I really want more power so I'm not really motivated. Hm?" Danny looks at his notebook to find a new note from Clockwork written in it.
"A very powerful enemy will try to destroy everything in the future and even the current you would be unable to stop them. -CW"
"Well that's that I guess. I'll strive to become stronger in order to protect everyone and everything. Guess I got my motivation to get stronger now. Though I do wonder who the enemy is. *Shudder* I really hope its not him. No no, I'm just being paranoid, Clockwork said that the current me would be unable to defeat them and even he isn't that strong. Let's just, let's just get back to planning."
"So I will be cultivating then, but how will I learn what I need to? Will I need to make trades for tips and techniques or something? What do I even have to trade? Maybe I can give them a vial of liquid ectoplasm or even a solid ball of it, it would be pretty difficult for non-ghost to get pure high-quality ectoplasm, which now that I think about it, I still don't know how my parents even got the needed ectoplasm for the ghost portal to work in the first place, it's not like they could just synthesize the stuff it's nowhere near as scientific and understandable as they thought it was and yet so many of their inventions worked. They learned one aspect of ectoplasm and how to harness it. Using ectoplasm as a power source for their inventions worked only because ectoplasm is basically partially-sentient but not really at the same time, Clockwork explained it to me but now really isn't the time to be recounting a old lesson. (AN: Full theory is in the AN on the bottom.) Focus, Danny, focus, alright, what else do I've got? Maybe they'll accept my ghost ice, it's supposedly rare even in the ghost zone so it'd probably have some value to them, probably. Ghost hair? Does my hair even stay in it's white form if I transform back?"
One quick test later...
"Alright, yes it does, that's sort of good to know. Ah! What should I tell them if they ask how I got these things? I'm supposed to just be a mortal who hasn't learned anything about cultivation yet. So I guess I'll need a backstory, hmm, maybe, I was a part of a small group of Ghost Cultivators that had unfortunately met with an accident before they could teach me anything about the world of cultivation and only left me with some treasures. It sort of works but I really don't like lying about death, even if I did just make them up. Why do I get the sudden feeling this might bite me in the butt later? What am I talking about, I'm me, of course it's going to. Well since that's all I've got for now let's end it here."
Danny looks at the time only to be surprised by how late it is, 'How long was I meditating for? Guess I'll make some dinner and go on my late night patrol.'
So he did just that. It was a nice night, so Danny was stargazing after his patrol ended and fell asleep incredibly quickly after heading back to his room and setting his alarm.
May 20th, 2019 - 3rd Person POV (Danny Focused)
Danny woke up to find that Shuhang inviting him along for his morning jog around the track, apparently he wasn't feeling like he was at 100% but he was feeling better than yesterday. So of course Danny did what any sane and sensible person with only a few hours of sleep does to a person inviting them for a jog before school starts, he agrees - wait what. Danny is in a difficult situation biology wise when it comes to sleep, as a crime fighting half-ghost he doesn't need as much sleep as the normal person, though he still needs sleep and thanks to his core adapting to some of the properties of always being in Nocturne's lair his human form actually tries to get more sleep. If that makes sense.
Shuhang breaches the conversation first on the way to the track for a jog, bringing up a topic that Danny himself would've brought up had Shuhang not done so first, "So your WeChat name is Heroic Phantom, right? Were you also invited to that chuunibyou group chat by Yellow Mountain?"
"Haha, yeah, I was. Do you have any clue who this Yellow Mountain is?" 'Though they probably aren't chuunibyou.'
"I've got no idea either. But it is pretty amusing to just read their conversations in my free time. Gives me a good laugh."
"Haha. Yeah. Wonder if we'll ever find out."
"Who knows. So should we go get breakfast?"
"Sounds good. To the cafeteria then? Or should I cook us up some eggs and bacon?"
"Ooh! That sounds good, better than whatever the cafeteria would have, let's go! I'll provide the eggs, it's the least I can do."
"Alright, sounds good."
Thus the two friends went to Shuhang's dorm room to use the stove to make breakfast. It's no secret to Shuhang and is friends/room-mates that Danny is an excellent cook, even for things as simple as eggs for breakfast. Something about having to take care of feeding himself and sometimes his sister who would be stuck with her nose in her psychology books, though sometimes she was the one who cooked for them both. Though for some reason he won't tell them he doesn't like to eat or make toast, so Shuhang typically does that for himself nd his room-mates. It's not the first time that Danny has offered to make breakfast for everybody. They have long since learned it's not worth refusing the offer out of politeness, especially with how good it taste compared to the cafeteria foods. If Jazz were there she would make some kind of claim that Danny likes to make food for others as a sort of subconscious effort to rekindle what he once did with his sister, her.
Speaking of their other friends and Shuhang's room-mates: "We smell something delicious. Oh yeah! Danny's cooking breakfast again! I love you man! No homo though."
"*Chuckle* I knew you guys would be joining us, the third serving is almost done. Just two more to go after that, so be patient."
They seem to barely acknowledge his words as they stare with eager faces and salivating mouths. Danny just chuckles as he sees this and goes back to flipping the eggs.
As they all enjoyed their meal they started talking about this and that to start off the day. Soon as they finished, Shuhang said he would go to the campus library to read a bit before classes start, which reminded Danny that he was going to check the library for any books on Cultivators to help get a better idea on what he may be dealing with. So they left together and bid their other friends an adios until classes start.
While at the library Danny and Shuhang went their separate ways with Danny going to ask the receptionist if they've got any of the books he's may be looking for. They did, in the fiction aisle, obviously, and Danny found four books about the topic or with main characters who begun on the path of cultivation, and one non-fiction book about meditation. So Danny began reading, until Shuhang began approaching him. Danny had noticed his footsteps coming towards him even while engrossed in the book but made no obvious sigh=ns of it until Shuhang was near him.
"Hey Danny, if we want to make it to class on time we should get going."
"Alright, thanks Shuhang. Let's get going then, I'll just sign out these books to take with me."
"What are they about?"
"I got curious so their about Cultivators and cultivation, plus one about meditation."
"Oh, because of the chat group?"
"Yep. Anyways, I'll sign these out and we can walk together."
"Alright."
Classes went by pretty quickly for the first part of the day and before they knew it, it was already lunch time. Danny's stomach growled, he's got an especially high metabolism in his human form and the energy he gets from food seems to split between regular body energy and turning into ectoplasm, so put simply, Danny's known to be a big eater who also has Jack Fenton's sweet tooth. However, Danny also does his first patrol of the day at lunch time so he always start lunch by going to the washroom both to wash his hands and to create a duplicate, one for eating with his friends and one for his patrol. The downside to this, even more food consumption. He's often gotten many questions about where he puts it all. He'll later rejoin his duplicate and merge their memories and experiences.
Danny's duplication ability is one of his more useful abilities depending on how he uses it. Danny can currently summon five "clones", though he has trouble maintaining that many forms for long. He can hold one duplicate of himself without issue but any more and it's only for a limited time or until they take too much damage. Previously his duplicates worked only in a hive-mind sort of situation however now if he provides enough energy/ectoplasm/whatever to the duplicate it can operate with his personality and will but on its/his own only sharing memories and experiences after remerging together or disappearing, in which case the ectoplasm will seek out Danny to remerge memories. This makes it easier for Danny to do multiple things at once and not have to split his attention, though creating one like that does drain him more significantly in their initial creation but less draining to keep active afterwards. Luckily Danny has a lot of "energy" to use before he's drained now that he's older. Another skill to do with his duplication that Danny learned is the ability to swap places in a way with the duplicate, sort of mimicking long distance teleportation. Whereas Danny can only teleport short distances, unlike Vlad who can do longer. But enough about that.
After a generally peaceful but fulfilling day of classes and homework Danny checked the group chat to see if there were any updates. There were but it was all just idle chatter and nothing really significant to Danny himself. So he had time and decided to get started on practicing concealing his ghostly energy or signature. He began by meditating again.
After what felt like a few minutes Danny was back to where he was inside himself the day before, near his core. Though just to be clear, Danny can't actually see anything so much as feel, perhaps if he were better at meditating he would be able to but for now that is out of his reach.
As Danny was feeling the area around his core he thought to search for if there was an aura leaking out which he could follow, but didn't have much luck. So he decided to switch to his Phantom form to see if it'd be easier. He reached out to the core and in an all too familiar sensation grasped at its power to initiate his transformation. As he was in the middle of meditating he felt the transformation in a way he had never before, in a more intimate way then he already was. He didn't understand it, but felt like he should, instinctually. As if it should be on the tip of his tongue but he lacks the knowledge needed to put it into words, it was powerful, it was protective, it was comforting, it was fear-bringing, pressuring, and in some strange way it was unknown. He would have figured he would understand his core better after all these years and with Frostbite's help, but in that moment he realized how wrong he was, that he didn't fully understand it, in a similar way to there being many things about our bodies, world, and universe that humans can't understand, not truly. He wasn't sure what to make of that so he just made a mental note to perhaps dwell on it again in the future and continue with what he was trying to do in the first place.
His core felt A LOT brighter and there than it did in his human form. He feels like he could almost see it but alas he couldn't not yet. It was extremely easy to find what he was looking for now, amidst the strums of power coursing through every part of him. He found what he instinctually knew must be the glow that surrounds him in his ghost form, he had figured that literal aura around him might have a clue to what could be considered his power that could be sensed. So he tried to pull that in, he could dim it fairly easily but it was actually much more difficult to fully pull it into himself. Maybe he could could douse it in invisibility and intangibility to hide it? No, that wouldn't work, if he tried to do that on just that aura he'd end up just turning himself that way instead, plus he would need to focus to keep that active; he did come across a ghost once who was capable of making things permanently invisible and intangible even without concentrating on or touching it, but he has yet to master such an ability himself, though Clockwork says that for him it is indeed possible to learn how to do; CW prefers he learns most of his new abilities or potentials on his own rather than relying on him.
After what felt like hours Danny finally managed to pull his glowing aura into himself, he thinks, he has yet to open his eyes to verify it. It felt uncomfortable, like he was compressing himself and basically sealing some of his own powers, he didn't feel truly free this way. He feels weaker. So he decided to open his eyes to see if this feeling was worth it. Silently hoping it didn't work so he wouldn't have to keep this up, but then admonishing himself as he felt his aura try to react to his will and release itself again, forcing it back inside.
As Danny looked down at his now ghost form body he realizes the glow is indeed gone and let out a sigh knowing he'll likely have to get used to this constrictive feeling, though it isn't as bad as the feeling he gets when his powers are fully sealed off. This feeling more akin to being uncomfortable in his own skin, more numbed, and deader, torpefied would be an apt term; than the powerless, missing, fearful, empty and truly numb feeling he gets from his powers being completely sealed.
"Well I guess that's that. Wait, how do I know if this worked? Would they still be able to sense me or did I just make myself less of a lightbulb? Hah~. I'm going to have to create one of those ghost detection devices that used to be so common at my old house and see if it can detect me. You know if this works and I can avoid detection this would have been extremely useful to learn how to do in my younger days."
So Danny sat at his desk and started creating blueprints for the general device he'll be creating or re-making based on memory. Thinking about where he'll get the metals he'll need. He could custom order the shapes from a metal workshop but that may get expensive, well if there's one thing aside from training he's got from Vlad, it's money.
Though he certainly doesn't like the idea of using the money Vlad got by overshadowing people he offset that by making him donate a lot of it to various charity causes, a sort of Robin Hood-esque scenario that he didn't really appreciate but figured was better than nothing. Seeing as the money was already stolen. The only ones Danny doesn't really have as much of an issue taking money from is big criminals, typically drug or weapons deal type situations he's stopped before. So all in all, he's not exactly poor or average in the wealth department.
Back to the blueprints, after an unknown amount of time Danny finished the blueprints and translated them to a computer program in order to place the orders to a local machine shop that accepted custom orders. Now he'll just need to wait for those pieces to be complete, allow the pieces to soak in ectoplasm, shock the pieces with his ghostly electricity to properly fuse the two materials, remove any sentience that forms by ripping them out of the metals and tossing them into the thermos and later into the Ghost Zone, he should be left with pseudo synthesized ecto-ranuium metal or at least something similar. As long as the device has compatible parts and a clear directive plus my will the ectoplasm will do the rest to make the device work as intended. A fusion between technology and ectoplasm with the ectoplasm becoming an energy source and doubling as an AI code to make it work.
For the time being however, he'll just eat his dinner and go on his late night patrol.
May 21st, 2019 - 12:48 am - 3rd Person POV
Danny had just gotten back to his room after doing patrol for a few hours. It however wasn't a peaceful night as there was gang fight going on between what seemed like two factions.
Flashback To An Hour Or So Ago
Technically Danny wouldn't need to have gotten involved as there weren't any civilians or innocents out however that not all there is to being a hero. Or as they liked to call him a f****ing freaky busybody. Well technically it was true but that came with the territory of his morals so it didn't really bother him, he's been called much worse before. In any case though, Danny decided to intervene when they brought out guns and began shooting each other, only to find their bullets bounce off some invisible forcefield (Ghost Shield + Invisibility), "Now now guys, you shouldn't be so careless with each-other's lives. Play nice, if you've got so much against each other why not try competing at the arcade? Fun, safe, and decisive. No takers? Well then I'll just have to take good care of all you to make sure non of you are seriously injured."
As they look up after following the echoing voice they felt a chill at what they were witnessing. One guy's knees were shaking right before he collapses on his behind. He had good instincts.
The rest try shooting at whatever the f*** it was above them, these people did not have good instincts. All the bullets they shot merely went through him, for good measure Danny let one of them hit him so that they could see the bullet flatten against his torso. To actually pierce his body they would need much more powerful bullets and even then it wouldn't really keep him down, especially so in his Phantom form. It did hurt though, he may have increased durability but he's also got increased senses, and increased senses includes increased pain senses. He's just dealt with many things much worse.
It was at this point more of them were shaking and collapsing while others kept trying to unload their entire clips on him. Still not actually hitting him though.
"Look at you cooperating, see you can work together."
One person decided to take a shot at the other group after he said that but his bullet was still deflected from the barrier. Danny had left the top of the shields open so they wouldn't hurt themselves with by shooting at him. Seeing this man shoot at the other group Danny focused his attention on him and shot a stunning etco-ray at him, the man collapsed and was knocked out but was otherwise fine. "Now that wasn't very nice of you. Well fun's over now that your out of bullets,-" Danny dodged one last bullet fired at him as he said that, "okay now out of bullets."
Multiple guys collapsed at this point while others attempted to flee the scene, they weren't so lucky as they ran into an invisible wall.
After rounding them all up and taking their knives and other weapons, one guy had a fr***ing katana, with telekinesis. He bound all of them in a rope he found nearby, which he tied around them telekinetically while keeping an eye on them, seeing as using ecto-based binds would have been difficult for the police officers to deal with.
"So I'm going to bring you to the station and your going to not resist and turn yourselves in, alright?"
He got a few fearful nods.
"Got it?" He flashed his toxic neon-green eyes brighter which resulted in more of them nodding vigorously.
"Good." Smile.
And so that's exactly what he and they did. Danny had dropped them off at the nearest police station with their weapons in a box out of their reach. Along with a note solely saying, "Gang War."
As Danny hadn't really given his name out while doing these kinds of arrests in Korea and they've never seen a ghost of Danny's kind before, he quickly became known by many as the only word many could mutter, "Monster."
Though a few did call him other things such as, "Guardian Angel" by those he saved, or even "God" by a few cultists, those guy were pretty annoying, but didn't do anything really bad, either out of reverence or fear of retribution noticing what kinds of deeds he does, luckily since they have no clue what he actually is they can't actually summon him or anything.
Back To The Present - 1:00am
Danny decided to get ready for bed and check out the chat group to see if anything interesting appeared.
As Danny turns on the computer and accesses the WeChat he notices they just began a new conversation, and it seems to involve him and Shuhang.
In The Group Chat
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: Yellow Mountain, who were those cultivators that you added yesterday?
TRUE MONARCH YELLOW MOUNTAIN: The person I added yesterday? Did you guys not talk to her? That was the daughter of one of my old friends from this era. Seems to have a lot of potential, and has already reached the top of the third stage acquired realm... will soon step into the fourth. Pretty amazing! {Snot nosed amazed emoji.}
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: If she was born in this era, then she's probably under 40 years old. And to be at the top of the third stage at that age, must indeed be a genius. {Thumbs up emoji.} However, "Stressed By A Mountain Of Books And Heroic Phantom" does not feel like a Daoist's name. Rather it even sounds like two different people as well, not just one.
TRUE MONARCH YELLOW MOUNTAIN: Eh? My friend's daughter's Daoist name is not "Stressed By A Mountain Of Books And Heroic Phantom." And I only invited one person. Who exactly is Stressed By A Mountain Of Books And Heroic Phantom?
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: ... ...
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: Yellow Mountain, you didn't add the wrong person, did you?
TRUE MONARCH YELLOW MOUNTAIN: Let me take a look {Sweat drop emoji.}{Sweat drop emoji.}{Sweat drop emoji.}
A Moment Later...
TRUE MONARCH YELLOW MOUNTAIN: Indeed the wrong person. The number was off by one. I put in 9 instead of 8. I never thought I'd make a big mistake like this.
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: I was going to say, even someone who has blended completely into modern society would never call themselves "Stressed By A Mountain Of Books And Heroic Phantom."
TRUE MONARCH YELLOW MOUNTAIN: Actually, even though I only added one person yesterday, they're only called "Stressed By A Mountain Of Books", "Heroic Phantom" is a separate person and I have no idea how they got invited. Though my logs say I did, I do not remember doing so.
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: ... ...
SU CLAN'S SEVEN: ... ...
MEDICINE MASTER: ... ...
SPIRIT BUTTERFLY ISLAND'S SOFT FEATHER: ... ...
THRICE RECKLESS MAD SABER: {Heart eye emoji.} Woah, the new Daoist is a lady? Share a pic, as well as your three sizes!
THRICE RECKLESS MAD SABER: If you're pretty, wanna go out?
SPIRIT BUTTERFLY ISLAND'S SOFT FEATHER: ... ... ...
SPIRIT BUTTERFLY ISLAND'S SOFT FEATHER: Seeing as it's rather late, my daughter has already started training and meditating. Her account is currently in my hands, waiting to be added to this group by Yellow Mountain. Heh... I've heard that Mad Saber of The Nine Provinces Group is quite the charmer. You certainly live up to your reputation. Mad Saber I am quite the fan, why don't we get a drink sometime? {Handshake emoji.}
SPIRIT BUTTERFLY ISLAND'S SOFT FEATHER: My friends, please take good care of my daughter. I'll be going now.
THRICE RECKLESS MAD SABER: {Grinning emoji.} Well that's good, looks like this senior knows how to take a joke. Perhaps in the future, there may be a chance to chat with Miss Soft Feather herself.
TRUE MONARCH YELLOW MOUNTAIN: ... ...
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: ... ...
MEDICINE MASTER: Good luck.
THRICE RECKLESS MAD SABER: ?
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: You get what you ask for. Why can't Mr. Mad Saber understand this simple principle?
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: Take a look at the prefix of the newbie's Daoist name.
THRICE RECKLESS MAD SABER: Prefix? Spirit Butterfly Island?
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: Yes, Spirit Butterfly Island! Add on the fact that they're a Senior. Don't you know who that is?
A Moment Later...
THRICE RECKLESS MAD SABER: {Screaming panicked buff man picture.} (AN: Seriously, just open the manhua on chapter 2 in a new tab, it'll be a better experience.)
THRICE RECKLESS MAD SABER: IS IT THE VENGEFUL VENERABLE SPIRIT BUTTERFLY?
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: {Shocked? emoji.} That's not what I implied!
TRUE MONARCH YELLOW MOUNTAIN: {Sweat drop stare emoji.} Mad Saber, my friend has hung up, but is still online.
Another moment later...
THRICE RECKLESS MAD SABER: {Screaming apologizing buff man picture.}
THRICE RECKLESS MAD SABER: Yellow Mountain, please intercede for me!
TRUE MONARCH YELLOW MOUNTAIN: {Cat ignoring you meme picture.}
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: Yellow Mountain what should we do about that "Stressed By A Mountain Of Books" and "Heroic Phantom?"
SU CLAN'S SEVEN: Should we kick them? As they're just a normal person, it's probably best they didn't join in on our conversations. And this "Heroic Phantom" character, we don't know how they joined or anything about them.
TRUE MONARCH YELLOW MOUNTAIN: Heh. Getting added by mistake and finding a way into our group could be a machination of fate.
Danny, back in his room, "You have no idea. I also really want to say something but don't know how long I'm supposed to just lurk for. I'll just consider it safe to join in when Shuhang does."
Yellow Mountain's Room - 3rd Person POV
"Kick?"
"I added them."
"They'll kick, just like that? Won't that cause me to lose face?"
"MM~ Let me draw a lot."
"I'll start with that 'Stressed By A Mountain Of Books' first."
Yellow Mountain proceeds to invoke a flashy fate reading technique.
Yellow Mountain smirks, "Since I started learning how to draw lots, this is the first time it's given me such a feeling."
Slowly his smirk drops to something resembling more of a frown as he reads what is now in front of him.
The texts formed by the technique read, "YOU'LL BE TOGETHER AS BIRDS IN THE SKY. OR ON THE EARTH AS TREES INTERTWINED."
"'AS BIRDS' MY A**, 'TREES INTERTWINED' MY A**! TREES INTERTWINED?!"
"I MAY AS WELL THROW MONKEY DARTS!"
Fuu (AN: I think that's a sighing sound?)
"This must be because I haven't trained enough. After all, I've only been learning for a month... and so, I should try again!"
"Yes, that must be it!"
He begins to activate the technique again. Fwoosh~
Shuu Shuu Shuu Shuu (SFX)
Grin. "Hehe." "A perfect display of this secret technique."
Clenches fist. "THIS TIME FOR SURE!"
This time the text in front of him read, "WHEN AFFECTION IS SO STRONG LASTING LONG ABOUT. IT MATTERS NOT IF THEY'RE TOGETHER DAY IN AND DAY OUT."
He pushes the fortune away and tries again.
Fwoosh~
Text: "A LOVE FOR WHICH ONE SEEKS MAY APPEAR WHERE UNEXPECTED THE LEAST."
He closes the book he was using as a median for the technique and sighs.
"It would seem that I have no talent for drawing lots."
"I am not fit for this."
"And so, my lots must be...
...completely wrong!"
"Well, I suppose I should at least try one more time but for this 'Heroic Phantom' person this time."
And so, Yellow Mountain prepares to do the technique one more time.
Fwoosh~
Shuu shuu shuu shuu (SFX)
"... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..."
"Agh, this one just gave me a headache, why does it feel like this 'Heroic Phantom' doesn't even exists?!"
Several Minutes Later - Still In The Group Chat
TRUE MONARCH YELLOW MOUNTAIN: Stressed By A Mountain Of Books... and Heroic Phantom... Let's leave them around for now. I just pulled some lots and found that Stressed By A Mountain Of Books has some affinity with me. Adding them to this group was not merely coincidence, but was driven by fate! What happens from here... is up to their own fortune. As for Heroic Phantom, I got a curious feeling pulling their lot, I'm now curious, so this must also be fate.
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: So be it. Besides, they'll probably leave on their own soon enough. By the way, what were the results of the lots you drew?
TRUE MONARCH YELLOW MOUNTAIN: Uh, just chat amongst yourselves, okay? I have something urgent to attend to.
NORTHERN RIVER'S LOOSE CULTIVATOR: {Snot nosed stare emoji.}
Back In Danny's Room - 1:30am May 21st, 2019
"Alright, I think that's enough for today. Let's go to sleep now. I've got a lot of practicing to do over the next however long I have and a ghost detector to make."
So Danny slept that night, unaware of just how much more the future is going to hold in store for him.
Non-Canon OMAKE - Yellow Mountain's Room Earlier (THIS DIDN'T ACTUALLY HAPPEN, JUST A FUNNY OMAKE.)
Yellow Mountain, "Alright, so I seem to maybe have some kind of affinity with Stressed By A Mountain Of Books but this Heroic Phantom may have too many secrets to stay a part of the group, and since I didn't really add him I probably won't lose too much face by kicking him."
As Yellow Mountain goes to kick Heroic Phantom from the group Doudou comes barreling into the room and unplugs the desktop before he could do it.
"DOUDOU~ Why did you just do that?"
"To annoy you."
"GRRRRR. Alright Doudou you've asked for it, get over here!"
As Yellow Mountain give chase and then punishment to his demon dog some time passes before he goes back to his room and re-plugs in his computer.
"Alright, let's try this again."
As soon as he gets to the screen showing members of the group, his computer crashes.
Later...
"Alright, this time."
A sudden stray lightning strike causes a blackout.
"Okay, this time for sure."
A tree crashes through his window and hits his computer pulling it out of the socket. Luckily the computer is fine due to a talisman formation of durability on it.
"Oookaaay. Something's up. Is this really fate's will, for Heroic Phantom to join the group?"
On his computer screen is just one word.
"Yes."
It was later said that Yellow Mountain did whatever he could to get on the good side of Heroic Phantom.
More-Important AN: As you can see, I write a lot with just Danny's perspective (~8K this chapter) and while not every chapter will be nearly this long, I don't really intend to extend them by writing in Song Shuhang's perspectives too, not fully at least. I'm too lazy and unmotivated for that. So I really do recommend you follow along with the actual manhua series on (wu xi a world.s-i-t-e) (slash)novel(slash)cultivation-chat-group-comics so that things make more sense and you have a better experience reading this. This does not mean I won't include any of Song Shuhang's perspectives in the future but that this will be mostly centered on a 3rd Person POV focusing on Danny.
Theory + Reality for this Fanfiction: Alright so the way I see it, ectoplasm is partially-sentient in the same sort of way as AI, only really limited by what it's coded to do and the power of whatever it is operating on and from. It is something that will act in accordance to the will of its "hosts" to sort of do something akin to self-writing its functions to work. When it comes to technology fusing ectoplasm, ectoplasm must be the power source to work as intended, since it doubles as its own AI source even if the machine wouldn't actually be coding compatible it still acts in a way similar to that. When using ectoplasm in technology the person has to make the technology with a clear purpose and the ectoplasm will then absorb that purpose to make the technology work as intended. Does this make sense so far? I don't think Danny's parents' inventions would work at all if they weren't so obsessive with their inventions and their purposes or if they used a different power source than ectoplasm at all. This theory is also proven by food contaminated by ectoplasm coming to life, where since it wasn't given an exact purpose or directive since it just contaminated food it used what the food used to be as its directive, living. This also works with the case of Jack Fenton's Ecto-Dejecto which was meant to destabilize ghosts but instead stabilized them, the reason for this is that since it was mostly just ectoplasm in a vial with the purpose by Jack Fenton to destabilize ectoplasm it took the along the same purpose as was intended but in a way that wouldn't harm itself, turning destabilize into stabilize by removing the "de". Something like this, I explained this better before I deleted this accidentally the first time.
(Alright, so I wrote this once already and it was a pretty fleshed out theory, but of course I accidentally deleted it so I may be lazy in this second attempt at writing this out.) AI ENERGY. Ectoplasm = Energy + Versatile self-encoding-AI, Ectoplasm + Will of user/Intent of "hosts" (machinery or otherwise) = Working Ghost Equipment.
Cultivation Chat Group takes place in Korea, so there are honorifics but it's different than Japanese ones used in animes and mangas, I don't actually know if Song Shuhang's first name is Song or Shuhang, I just assume its Shuhang. That being said, if you want there to be honorifics, imagine them being used, it'd be too annoying for me to write out the correct ones every time and I've also read reviews before about honorifics being used in a story taking someone out of the immersion so I'll be avoiding using them, that doesn't mean their not there, unless expressly mentioned, just that you'll have to imagine them for the most part.
In this Fanfiction ghost portals don't show up as often as they do in the show, so not much is known about ghosts or the Ghost Zone, even to cultivators. I mean they called a green blob at the beginning of the comic a "mid-tier or higher" while to Danny it'd have just been a weak barely-sentient blob. Maybe a strong spirit but not on the level of even weak full ghosts from the Infinite Realms. They also said that "ghosts can't procreate" which Danny will find is just untrue as The Lunch Lady and Box Ghost are having a child. So expect Danny to be educating some cultivators on some of the truth about ghosts.
Do you have any idea how damaging it is to a writer's motivation or will to write when he writes a lot of decent content then accidentally deletes it all by closing the tab? That hurt on an emotional and psychological level. I'm annoyed, that I can't recall exactly what I wrote and am not happy with the new text.
Don't expect this many words for each chapter, or even a very consistent update schedule. I'm a very whims based writer, doing this for fun, and as you may have just read in the above author's note it becomes a lot less fun when you accidentally delete your progress. Tl;Dr: Sporadic updates and lengths.
In case you guys' didn't notice, I am purposely avoiding saying what Danny's Phantom form looks like exactly until later. Though it's not too different from his original so you don't need to worry.
