"Yume!" Midoryia yelled while running swiftly over. More like gliding as his feet barely touched the ground as he ran into his older sisters' arms.
He was used to these dreams by now, the girl with pale green hair and golden eyes who started visiting him when he was merely 5 years old, and the very night he was declared quirkless. She had appeared and said she was his sister and that she loved him and believed in him more than anything else in the world. That he could do anything he wished to do… that was more than either of his parents had ever said or done for him. He remembers just sobbing when he awoke, as it was a good dream and he didn't want it to end... to have a sister and someone who encouraged and believed in him. However, the night after, and after, and after… she continued to appear almost every night if either at the beginning or end of his dreams. The nights she didn't come he would have dreamless sleeps. Sometimes he would have nightmares of his childhood bully or his faceless father who left. Every time this happened there would be a golden mist that would never fail to appear, and he would always dream of something better. He never could remember what his nightmares were after this happened. He asked if the mist was her to which she responded with a dark swirl in her eyes that she would never let him suffer in his dreams. She was one of the only things that was good in his life, to the point where he wished he could stay dreaming as it was his happy place. The one time he said that she smiled a dark smile and with a light in her eyes said she could if that's what he wanted. It was the only time she said something that kinda scared him. Regardless, she was his personal hero. She asked him not to tell his mother about her which he promised as he didn't want to lose his dream sister. He questioned his sanity whether she was real or not. She assured him she was real, and, when he turned 15 she told him she would visit him for real. It was 1 week before his 15th birthday and he was excited. He couldn't wait... a small part of him questioned what he would do if she wasn't real.
"Zu!" Yume responded laughing as she caught him and twirled him around. As she set him down she noticed him clinging a bit tighter before letting go.
"Zu? What's wrong love?" one thing in dreamland is that Izuku told her everything. Perhaps its because he perceived her as part of his imagination or her constant support since he was a child… but he never hid anything from her
"Kachaan…" Izuku muttered and that's when Yume saw the burns that appeared in front of her eyes.
"I see… don't worry Zu. Maybe I'll pay him a visit sometime" Yume smiled with a glint in her eyes
Izuku laughed and shrugged it off. "Don't worry about it. He'll be a great hero someday… I'm just in the way."
"Don't say that! Do you know what makes a good hero?" She snapped harshly. "This!" she said poking him in the chest
"M-m-my chest?" izuku stuttered nervously. Yume was usually pretty calm and talks with smooth voice almost like honey. It's not often he hears her get worked up.
At this Yume sighed and ruffled his hair, "No Zu, your heart. You have a heart of gold... you're already more of a hero inside than 'Kachaan' has in his whole body!"
"Kachaan has an amazing quirk tho... He-"
"Quirks don't mean anything! Quirks are just that, quirks! He's still a bully and you're worth more than anything Kachaan ever could be.. wait no.. Katsuki. You're worth more... Ugg no!" Yumi puffed her cheeks out and the clouds floating around them turned a bit darker. "He doesn't even deserve to be called that! Ugg I cannot wait to get my hands on him! How dare he! You're my green bean, my ray of sunshine! If this BOY thinks for one second -"
"Yumi, Yumi!" Izuku chanted while waving his hands and a blush dusting his cheeks slightly amused by his sisters antics. "Yumi, its okay, I'm used-" "If you finish that sentence..." Yumi trailed off glaring.
"But Yumi! He does have an amazing quirk... and me... I just... I'm a quirkless, useless, Deku..." Izuku said while shuffling his feet in the ground. He noted with interest that the ground was getting blurry before he felt something wet hit his cheek.
"Oh Zuzu," Yumi sighed while pulling him to her chest and stroking his hair "Even someone quirkless can do amazing things. Even someone quirkless can be a hero. I know you Zu, you can do anything you want in this world. And I will be there every step of the way." she said pulling him back to smile down at him and wipe the stray tears away
"R-re-really? I-i I can b-be a h-Hero?" Izuku said staring at her with wide eyes.
"Yes Izuku, you can. And don't worry about Bakugo, leave him to me." she said smiling at him and pulling him back into a hug
Izuku sighed and smiled, feeling thankful for his dream sister he was about to find out was real. Her threat was just his subconscious making him feel better he reasoned, he had no idea what he just unknowingly cursed upon his friend. As Izuku's dream reality faded into a full on dream of him being the #1 hero running around and saving everyone, Yumi lingered in the background, her hair glowing golden and her eyes turning into dark honey pots. She stared at a sleeping Katsuki Bakugo. His peaceful form and smirk made her clench her teeth and slowly she started to sing, his dream of getting into UA started to shift into something darker. She continued to sing as the golden strands of his dream she touched, they became dark, black, and horrific.
Three houses down you could hear Bakugos scream, he screamed and screamed and couldn't wake up while Izuku slept peacefully with a smile on her face.
Yumi faded in the background and the only thing both boys could faintly hear on the edge of their dream, one golden, and one hellish, was the same tune.
"Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream..."
