"Ha! I won again Seaweed brain! You know what that means!" Seventeen year old Annabeth Chase said.
"Yeah, yeah, wisegirl. It means that I buy you ice cream. Again." Percy said sadly. The two were currently in the training area at the castle. The two were both extremely skilled with weapons, Annabeth with the dagger and Percy with the sword.
They were best friends since the day they first met. In fact, Annabeth was friends with the rest of the royal family. Queen Sally, King Paul, Prince Tyson and Princess Estelle. Annabeth wouldn't admit it, but she had a tiny,small crush on Percy.
Percy suddenly grinned, like he had a plan in mind. Slowly, He inched forward toward Annabeth.
"Um, Percy? Ha ha... what are you doing?" Annabeth asked warily. She slowly backed away, unsure what Percy was going to do .
"This." He tickled her at her sides, her arms, and her stomach.He knew she was ticklish, so he took advantage.
"HaHa! P-percy stop," She laughed harder. "We probably look like children right now!"
"On one condition, Annie; Only if you buy me ice cream this time."
"Okay, Okay. Fine." Annabeth straightened her clothes. "Come on, let's get ice cream. I'm hungry."
Time skip
"Bye, Perce." Annabeth said. They just came back from a nice trip up to the ice cream shop, and it was now nearing night. Percy thought to droo Annabeth off at her house.
"Bye, wisegirl. Good night." Percy smiled as he watched Annabeth go.
Once Annabeth got inside, shendashed upstairs, wanting to avoid her brothers and Hellen, Annabeth's step mom. She never knew her real mom, because she died giving birth. From her dad's words, she was a smart, kind, and caring lady. Annabeth wished she met her.
She quickly changed into her pajamas and hopped in bed. She fell asleep happily, Unaware what would await the next day.
RING RING RING! She woke up to her alarm clock blaring.
Ugh, five more minutes!
RING RING RING!
Stop, you're so annoying! I said five more minutes!
RING RING RING!
Annabeth decided to get up, releasing that the alarm clock wouldn't stop. She took a quick shower, and changed into A plaid skirt, with black leggings underneath, a woolen sweater and then tried her hair up in a half bun.
She went downstairs and found no one. Typical. Breakfast was prepared and the T.V was on the news.
As she was watching the news, The royal family came up. It was Queen Sally and King Paul. Sally said:
We will be having a selection of young ladies tomorrow for Prince Percy of Oceania. The selection will consist of 35 girls, from the age of 17.
Annabeth was astonished. When did Percy plan on telling me? She thought.
She ran to the castle and quickly greeted the guards, maids and cooks. Not looking where she was going, she bumped into someone.
"Oh! Queen Sally!" Annabeth quickly bowed. "I'm so sorry! I didn't see where I was going."
Sally just laughed. "Its quite okay, dear, no need to apologize. I was looking for you, actually. "
"Oh, okay. What did you want to tell me?" Annabeth asked, curious.
"Well, Annabeth, as you probably know, prince Percy is having a selection, and well..." She trailed off.
"Yes I know that Percy is having a selection." Annabeth grit her teeth.
Sally took a deep breath.
"I signed you up for it, Annabeth."
"What..?" She took some time to process this news. "You singed me up?!"
"Yes, dear."
"B-but why? I'm not a princess, and I'm only friends with Percy. I stand no chance between the others!"
"Annabeth, you're a wonderful girl. We love you! I made an exception for you because you'd make a great Queen. And, I'm sure Percy wouldn't mind. He certainly likes you." She explained.
Huh. If Sally thinks that I can do it, maybe i do stand a chance. And i don't think that I have any choice in this situation. Annabeth internally thought.
Annabeth smiled. "Okay, Sally. I'll try."
