Today was the day. The day that all the girls arrived at the castle. Annabeth spent most of the night pacing her room, thinking. She had told her family, and they mostly had neutral expressions.

"Sure, sweetie, have fun." Her dad said as building a model airplane.

Helen, however was outraged, and well, let's just say that Annabeth learned some colorful words that night.

She was in bed, reading a letter.

Annabeth had gotten a letter from the castle that had information about the selection. It read:

Dear Miss Chase,This afternoon at exactly 1:00 you will be picked up by one of our royal chauffeurs. Once you get there you will be provided with your own clothes, and personal quarters.

The list of girls participating are:

Calypso Nightshade

Rachel Elizabeth Dare

Hazel Levseque

The list went on. Annabeth recognized some of the girls. Most were either famous, rich, princesses, models, etc.

Oh god, compared to them, I'm a pile of trash! Annabeth was stressing out. Her stomach sank, and her Hope's of being with Percy did, too.

"Its not that I like him like that..." she muttered. "Or at least I think?"

Sighing, she got up from her bed. She decided to wear a casual outfit today, because she would change at the castle anyways.

Today, like always, she found no one at the table or anywhere. She looked at the clock. 12:30.

She had 30 minutes so she figured she should watch the news. She saw a girl emerge from a private jet wearing expensive luxury clothing.

PIPER MCLEAN AND OTHERS ARRIVE AT THE CASTLE FOR THE ROYAL SELECTION TODAY. The headlines said. Annabeth

Suddenly, she heard a sharp knock at her door. She opened it and was greeted to a thin man in a black suit.

"Miss Chase! Your carriage is here." He greeted.

"Oh! uh thank you, sir." She flashed a polite smile at him as she got into the carriage.

The ride was boring and un eventful, mostly because she took this path almost every day. However, she was surprised when she pulled up at the castle.

Limousines and fancy carriages were circled around the entrance. People buzzing everywhere, swarming around. Her stress came back again.

Well, here goes nothing. Hopefully I can make some friends... She bit her lip nervously.

She carefully walked steped out of the vehicle and was immediately greeted by paparazzi. Lots of them. She made her way into the castle and headed to the dining room, because most of the girls were going there.

Seaweed brain! She mentally called out. He was at the head of the table, talking and laughing along with some girls- A pretty redhead and another girl with a short dress that showed off a lot of skin.

She took a seat beside a girl that looked fine. She remembered her from the news, Piper MicLean.

"Hi," Annabeth shyly said.

"Oh, hi!" Piper shook her hand. "I'm Piper. Piper McLean."

"I'm Annabeth Chase. Nice to meet you." She warmly greeted.

"So, do you like Prince Percy?" Piper suddenly said.

"What?" Annabeth said, surprised at this question. Piper repeated the question.

"Oh, no! Me and him are friends. Best friends, actually. Queen Sally was the one who signed me up."

"Huh. Me neither." Piper smiled, staring fondly at the ceiling. "I like... someone else. His name is Jason Grace." She blushed, scratching the back of her neck.

Before Annabeth could respond, she heard a shrill voice.

"Excuse me, excuse me, everyone! Here come the rest of the royal family of Oceania." A person said. Trumpets sounded as the large, mahogany wood doors flew open at the front of the room. Annabeth saw Sally, Paul, Tyson and Estelle. Estelle caught Annabeth's eye and she waved at her, excited. Annabeth waved back with the same energy.

They sat down and the feast finally begun. Quiet chatter filled the room , and Annabeth eagerly filled her plate up. Halfway through, she caught Piper gawking.

She nudged Annabeth. "What is Percy eating? " She whispered to her, pointing at the blue food.

Percy was eating blue chicken, with a blue drink. Coke, Annabeth thought. "Oh, that's just blue food. It's a tradition for the royal family."

"Oh, okay, but why?"

"Well, long ago, when Percy was a baby, he had a different father, Gabe Ugliano. He was abusive and Percy hated him for that. Then Sally met Paul and she genuinely loved him, so she left Gabe on the streets. Blue food is just a reminder that anything is possible." Annabeth explained.

She turned around to Piper to see her tearing up.

"Oh... that's so sad and beautiful... at the same time." She quivered.

Annabeth chuckled. "Well, everything is resolved now. Gabe was put in jail and they lived a better life. So, here we are now."

The rest of the meal was okay. Percy got to know everyone a bit, and the girls got to know him a bit. Some were clearly flirting boldly but percy was oblivious to all this. Annabeth and Percy stole glances at each other a lot.

"Okay, ladies! Time to go. your sleeping quarters will be down the hall to your right. I wish you all a good night, and make sure to be ready tomorrow, because tomorrow will be interview day!" A lady said.

"Bye, Annabeth!" Piper said, walking to her room.

"Bye, Piper! until tomorrow! "

Annabeth decided to wait until everyone left. She didn't know why, but she was tired. After a few minutes of sitting, She got up and started to leave. That is, until she heard a voice call for her.

Whew! that was a long chapter. For me at least. Anyways, I'm SO excited about the pjo adaptation! I have lived long enough to see this miracle! I just cant wait.
