Melissa
Dad was glad to see that I wasn't hurt badly after I explained that I accidentally got hit by a new friend with his jetpack. I'm also happy that my glasses didn't get damaged. I felt like exploring the new neighbourhood, so I ask him.
"Sure, sweetie. Please be back by five."
"Got it. Thanks, dad."
It's a beautiful afternoon as I walk and pass many colourful houses and then I come across a cool-looking playground that has swings, monkey bars, a roundabout, things you would typically find in a place like this. I see that no one is around.
"Hmm," I smirk.
I reach for my silver Samsung Galaxy S9 phone and go to my music library until I find the one that feels suitable for the playground in my opinion.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (x4)
Jungle life
I'm far away from nowhere
On my own like Tarzan boy
Hide and seek
I play along while rushing 'cross the forest
Monkey business on a sunny afternoon
Jungle life
I'm living in the open
Native beat that carries on
Burning bright
A fire blows the signal to the sky
I sit and wonder, does the message get to you?
Eddy
"Hey guys, check it out!" exclaims Nazz.
Part of the gang; Kevin, Nazz, Sarah, and Jimmy, are glancing at something curiously when we arrive at where they are. The Eds and I turn to look at what's going on. And to our surprise, we see Melissa dancing freestyle rhythmically and lip-syncing to a song while she's playing in the playground. She astonishes us with her skills in the monkey bars…
"How is that possible? Her height is similar to me and Nazz. How could she reach them with such ease?"
…roundabout, basketball court, and others. Even at the swings, especially her jump. Heck, she even lands with a cool Spider-Man pose. I don't admit to the others that it's better than my last swing jump.
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (x8)
Night to night
Gimme the other, gimme the other
Chance tonight
Gimme the other, gimme the other
Night to night
Gimme the other, gimme the other world
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (x4)
Jungle life
You're far away from nothing
It's all right
You won't miss home
Take a chance
Leave everything behind you
Come and join me, won't be sorry
It's easy to survive
Jungle life
We're living in the open
All alone like Tarzan boy
Hide and seek
We play along while rushing 'cross the forest
Monkey business on a sunny afternoon
Night to night
Gimme the other, gimme the other
Chance tonight
Gimme the other, gimme the other
Night to night
Gimme the other, gimme the other world
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh (x8)…

After I land with my Spider-Man pose, I hear claps and turn to where it's coming from. I give an embarrassed smile as I walk to the audience.
"That was awesome!" says a teenage blonde girl standing next to a ginger-haired female teen. Both are grinning widely.
"Yeah!" says two teenage boys, the one has a red cap on and the other a cyan shirt.
"How did you do that?" says Eddy.
"Do what?" I say.
"All those things you did. And your jump from the swings."
I smirk. "I practice a lot."
Then I'm greeted by the other kids who seem friendly.
"Hey, I'm having a house party Friday night," Nazz says, "Want to come and get to know the neighbourhood?"
"Yeah, that would be awesome," I smile.
"Cool. Here," she writes and hands me a note that details her address and what time the festivities begin. Also, the party takes place two days from now. "See you all there," she says to everyone before walking away with Kevin, Sarah, and Jimmy. Now it's the Eds and me.
"You dance pretty, Melissa," says Ed.
"Aww, thanks."
We start walking around the playground.
"Have you had any professional training before?" Double-D asks.
"Nope. Actually, I do a lot of that back home."
"And I'm guessing that's one of your interests, 80s music?" Eddy grins.
I laugh. "You caught me. But my taste in music is described as eclectic."
"Ah, so one minute classical then something with rock?" Double-D says.
"Uh-huh." Then we are at the monkey bars. I giggle as I jump to grab one. Then Ed goes next.
"Come on, Eddy," Double-D says after he bounces up to hold a bar too.
He is leaping as hard as he can but to no avail.
"Do you need help?" I say.
"No, I got this," he says. More jumps but still no luck. I let go and lift him. "Hey, put me down! I don't need your help!" But I assist him in reaching a bar. He doesn't look happy.
"Well?" I say.
"Well, what?"
"A simple thank you would suffice."
"Thanks," he says rather reluctantly.
My brief irritation instantly fades away. "What's wrong, Eddy?"
He releases the monkey bar and lands on the ground. "Nothing."
"Your face right now indicates that's not nothing. Please tell me."
"It's just…you're lucky."
I'm astonished. "Lucky? About what?"
"You're about the same height as me, and you can do things that short people can't do."
"I don't see what's wrong with that. It's a part of who you are as a person and it doesn't define you."
"She's right, Eddy," Double-D says.
I say. "I mean, there are a lot of famous short people. Peter Dinklage, Dolly Parton, Michael J. Fox, Gandhi, Beethoven, Picasso, Charlie Chaplin, Yuri Gagarin, Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger, and look what they've done and doing for the world."
Eddy is totally silent, looking at me with eyes that imply not only annoyance but maybe sadness too?
"And of course, let's not forget about Napoleon. And it sounds to me that you have a Napoleon complex."
"No, I don't!"
"Well, well, well," a female voice says coming from behind us. We turn to see that it is a curly redhead. "If it isn't our old boyfriends."
Author's Note; the featured song is Tarzan Boy by Baltimora.
