Prompt #4 Karma
Chapter 22
What wrong had he committed in his past life to be repaid with this kind of tragedy? Or was all this karma from his current lifetime? However, that could only be true if he believed in Buddhism. So could this still be considered karma?
If anyone had told him a few months ago that would be so deeply and completely in love with the Odango Atama that he argued with on a nearly daily basis, he would have laughed in their faces.
However, here he was pining for the affections of a girl two years his junior, and one who was completely on the opposite side of the spectrum from him, her light to his dark, her smiles to his sneer. He was in love with the very girl that he had fun of for months and instead of realizing his feelings, he had made a complete ass out of himself in front of her. To the point where he had to go the Secret Admirer route because she would never believe him if he come out and told her that he loved her.
The very few times he had tried to make nice with her, she had viewed him with so much suspicion and to be honest he couldn't blame her. After all this was the destiny he had brought upon himself. There was no one to blame but himself.
Mamoru paced his living room as he had done all morning, his thoughts chaotic as he thought his plans over and over again. His mind was a mess, Usagi's reactions gave him hope that she would accept him when she saw him but at the same time he couldn't help the doubt that creeped into his mind, what if just what if when she saw him she didn't throw herself into his arms and accept his identity but ran the other way, horrified. He didn't know if his heart could take that pain.
He had tried to deny his emotions and now when he finally realized the truth he was at the point where only going above and beyond may be the only way to prove his live to her. Now all he could think of was contingency plans because although his heart was hopeful his mind wasn't 100 percent sure.
Mamoru's heart shuddered at the thought of Usagi turning him down. The pain was unbearable and brought tears to his eyes, why couldn't he realize what emotion had been brewing inside of him before he had commenced all the teasing and belittling phrases. He wasn't a child and even if he had been that was not an appropriate way to show that you liked someone.
Karma was truly paying him back the day that all the pieces clicked into place and he realized that he had fallen in love with the only girl in the entire city who would not believe him when he declared his undying love for her.
