Percy's the only one not wearing a sweater. He's looking around at these people he's known all of his life, but yet he feels so out of place. He's the only one of them not wearing a famed Weasley sweater, and it feels so weird.

"So, Perce," Fred says, and Percy can tell that there's venom behind his usual smile. "Have you decided to join us?"

George, from besides him, gestures to an empty spot at the table.

Percy crosses his arms over his chest, and it just makes him more aware that he's not wearing the right clothes for Christmas.

"Can we at least try and be realistic, please?" Percy says, his voice also dripping with anger. If Fred and George want to be blunt with him, he can do that too. "Why would I sit down with you guys? I'm simply here to accompany my boss to a meeting."

"Oh, and here I thought the Minister was telling the truth!" George says, smiling innocently up at Percy. Percy purses his lips.

"I wouldn't want to join you guys," Percy says, shrugging a little bit. "I thought I had made that clear."

"Percy," his mother says, and the look on her face…

Percy feels ashamed, suddenly, because he knows that he's the reason for his mother being in so much pain right now. Is he really capable of that?

Two years ago, he would've said no. He would never want to hurt his mother, or his siblings, or anyone in his family.

Now, though, Percy thinks about the person he's become, working under the Ministry, right in the Minister's own office. He thinks that it's done something really wrong to him.

He doesn't like it, but he'd never actually admit that to his family.

So, sticking his chin up, Percy holds his ground.
