3rd POV

The Kurgan sat in his car listening to music while hitting his hands on the steering wheel to the beat. It had been two weeks since he had encountered (Y/N) and since then had slain five other Immortals. The number of Immortals remaining had gone down to the single digits making it difficult to locate one another and fight. However, the Kurgan had managed to locate an Immortal whose presence was near nonexistent up until now. An Immortal whose bookstore stood across the street from where he was parked.

The owner, Tukson, was an infant compared to the other Immortals that were part of the Gathering. He was over a hundred years old having died his first death during the Great War. Even so, he was one of the few who remained, and like the others he would have to fight for his survival. Fight for the Prize.

In order to confront Tukson, the Kurgan was staking out his bookstore staying far enough away to keep the Faunus from sensing his presence. He would wait for nightfall to take his head, and then move onto the next. It was then that he noticed two teenagers walking down the sidewalk toward the bookstore. One was a girl with green hair and dark skin who carried a pair of bladed pistols on the back of her waist. But it was the boy that was with her that caught his attention. He had gray unkempt hair and eyes like a hawk. They were the eyes of a killer. Something the Kurgan was all too familiar with. The teenagers entered Tukson's store and the Kurgan watched them move around inside from the window. Minutes past, then he saw the boy go to the side of the window and the glass became tinted. Then the door and the other window did the same.

"So that's how it is," the Kurgan said to himself realizing what was going on. The two teenagers were planning to kill Tukson. He could risk them taking the Faunus' head and wasting his Quickening. The Immortal stepped out of his car taking his claymore from the backseat and hung it across his back from the two hooks on his right shoulder. He walked across the street feeling the buzzing in his head. "Time to play."

Emerald POV

"You know who we are don't you?" I asked the Faunus standing behind the counter.

"Yes," Tukson answered avoiding eye contact.

"And you know why we're here?" I asked.

"Yes," the Faunus replied.

"So…are you going to fight back?' I asked ready to counterattack.

Tukson's eyes had begun to twitch. "No," he said sounding frightened.

"No?" Mercury said from behind me. "I was hoping for some resistance." Then he notice like I did that Tukson's attention was on the front door and not us.

"He's here," the Faunus said more terrified than before.

I turned around after hearing the door open to find a large man with long black hair and a scar across his neck. He wore a black leather jacket, pants, boots, and gloves, and the grip and pommel of a large sword could be seen behind his shoulder.

"Tukson," the man said with a scratchy voice. He looked at both Mercury and I. "You look like you're having fun. Mind if I join?"

"Hey buddy," Mercury said going up to the man. "If you know what's best for you go-" The man interrupted him with a punch to the gut bringing him to his knees.

"Stay out of this boy," the man said shoving Mercury aside. "This is between me and the Faunus."

"Mercury," I shouted.

"Kurgan why are you here?" Tukson asked.

"Isn't it obvious?" Kurgan said with a smile removing the sword from his back. "I'm here for your head!" With a roar he rushed past me and leapt towards Tukson with his blade raised.

The Faunus dodged as the strike destroyed the counter he stood behind. "Let me get my sword Kurgan," Tukson said.

"Too late for that," Kurgan replied.

Mercury groaned as he got back up. "Bastard," he said charging Kurgan with a kick.

Kurgan caught Mercury's foot with his left hand causing electricity to flow around it and destroying his glove. "I liked that glove," Kurgan said. He pushed Mercury to the ground and readied to thrust his sword into him.

I quickly reached out with my Semblance to place Kurgan in an illusion, and his blade stopped an inch away from Mercury's chest. He stood up straight and turned his head toward me. Electricity was sparking from behind his eyes as he walked toward me. He brought his left arm up against my throat and pinned me to the wall. "How…" I struggled to say.

"Sorry," Kurgan said with a smile. "Mind tricks don't work on me."

My eyes wandered the store seeing Mercury unconscious on the ground and Tukson nowhere in sight. I noticed a tattoo on the back of Kurgan's left hand. It was an open eye encased in a circle. It was a symbol I knew very well. Then a blade came out of Kurgan's stomach causing him to drop me.

Tukson stood behind Kurgan holding the sword impaling him. "I'm not dying Kurgan," the Faunus said pushing the blade deeper. "I will survive the Gathering."

Kurgan reached back and grabbed Tukson's wrist. He squeezed it forcing the Faunus to free his grip from the sword. "You talk as if you have a say in the matter," said Kurgan. "You should have aimed higher. Like this!" He switched his sword to an underhanded grip and pulled Tukson toward it. The blade cut through the Faunus' neck and his head land next to where Mercury laid. Kurgan dropped Tukson's headless body in front of me, and then he pulled the sword out of him tossing it to the side. Then, a white glow came from the decapitated Faunus and moved to Kurgan.

Kurgan held his sword in front of him moaning as electricity went from Tukson's body into his. Pages came out of the books and blew around the store as the ceiling lights exploded. Eventually the electricity dissipated and the wind died down. Kurgan straightened his stance and returned his sword to his back.

As Kurgan started to walk for the front door I saw that the place where he had been run through by Tukson was unscathed. Then I remembered the tattoo on his left hand. "Wait," I said standing up. "You serve her don't you? Her mark's on your hand."

Kurgan stopped after hearing what I had said. He glanced at the back of his left hand and chuckled. "So you're the ones Salem was talking about," he said with a smile. "Tell your boss I'll be coming by your place tonight. We have things to discuss."

I watched him leave then I rushed to Mercury and started to shake him awake. "Mercury come on get up," I said as his eyes started to open. He jumped upon seeing Tukson's head lying next to him.

"What the hell happened?" Mercury asked as he stood up. "Why is his head cut off?"

"That Kurgan guy did it," I answered.

"So that guy's the headhunter from the news?" Mercury asked as we started to walk to the door.

"Maybe, but that's not the crazy part," I said. "He works for the Mistress."

"What?" Mercury exclaimed as we exited the store. A car horn caught our attention and we both saw Kurgan sitting in a car waving at us with a smile. He cackled like a maniac as he drove away. "We need to tell Cinder."

"Yeah," I agreed. "Especially if he keeps his word."
