Chapter 12: Return to Traverse Town Part 1
It was evening aboard the Gummi Ship. Plucky, Dizzy, and Elder-Ham are eating dinner.
Sweetie: We should be at Traverse Town in 10 minutes. Eat up, boys!
Dizzy: Yeah! Dizzy need to eat up lots!
Dizzy leans over to tap Plucky's left shoulder and Plucky turns to his left.
Plucky: Huh? That was strange.
Dizzy steals Plucky's pizza slice while Plucky was not looking. Plucky turns back and notices that his pizza slice was gone. He then turns to Dizzy.
Plucky: Dizzy, did you eat my pizza slice?
Dizzy:(Lying)It not Dizzy! Honest!
Plucky turns to take a sip of his soda. Dizzy snickers and steals another slice of Plucky's pizza. Plucky looks back down and notices another pizza slice missing,
Plucky: Dizzy, do you have to keep stealing my food?
Dizzy:(Lying)It not Dizzy! Elder-Ham eat it!
Elder-Ham: How dare you accuse me of something I didn't do! Besides, I wouldn't eat that pizza in one gulp!
Plucky crossed his arms while Dizzy made a nervous look.
Plucky: I'm watching you, buddy!
He then turns to Sora who was looking out the window with a real sad look.
Plucky: Hey, kid! are you alright?
Dizzy tried to grab another slice, but Plucky grabs his arms.
Plucky: Not this time, buster! Lego my Eggo!
Dizzy: Me not Buster.
Elder-Ham: And that's a pizza, not a waffle.
Plucky: Whatever!
The two played tug-a-war with the pizza until Dizzy turns to Sora and notices him sniffling. He let's go of the pizza which sent Plucky flying into a wall.
Elder-Ham: A little too late to be playing games, don't you think, Plucky?
Dizzy walks up to Sora and jumps on his lap.
Dizzy: Is Sora crying?
Sora: I'm not crying. I've got something in my eyes.
Plucky: That's tears, Sora. What's wrong?
Sora: I miss Riku and Kairi. I...feel like I may never see them...again.
Plucky: Sorry. We're trying the best we can, but we don't have any leads yet on where they are.
Dizzy hugs Sora and talks to him very softly.
Dizzy: Let it all out, Sora. It OK to cry.
Plucky: You're saying big boys don't cry. Everyone cries. Even yours truly has squirt a few tears.
Dizzy: It nothing to be ashamed of. Sora just let bad things out that he hid deep inside of him.
Sora: I'm sorry, guys. I didn't mean to cause a scene.
Dizzy: Sora, no need to apologize.
Plucky: Besides, remember what I told you? This ship runs on happy faces. No frowning and no sad faces.
Dizzy: Yeah, Sora no be sad. Dizzy and Plucky here to help.
Plucky: They're out there somewhere. You're doubting yourself. Remember when we faced Cloud and Team Rocket? You never gave up even when the odds are against us.
Elder-Ham: Plucky's right. And remember how you helped Seiya to try and save Saori even by risking your own life? Doubting yourself isn't the Sora we know.
Sora took Dizzy off his lap and stops sobbing.
Sora: You're right, guys. Riku and Kairi are out there somewhere and I won't rest until they're safe.
Plucky: That's the spirit, kid!
Dizzy: You go, Sora!
Elder-Ham: Then let's say we stop standing around and finish eating. Your food is getting cold.
Sora: OK! Let's eat! I'm getting hungry!
Dizzy ran back to the table and grabs Plucky's plate.
Plucky: Come back here with my pizza, you thief!
Sora and Elder-Ham broke into laughter as Plucky chased Dizzy around the ship. For the next 10 minutes, Sora and the group finished eating. The ship arrives at Traverse Town. Sora and the gang departs from the ship and arrives at the First District. There, they found Yuffie.
Sora: Hey, Yuffie!
Yuffie: Hey, guys! Nice to see you again. How's your quest going?
Dizzy: Great! Dizzy fight bad guys and gave them knockouts!
He then punches the air and accidentally hits Plucky.
Dizzy: Oops. Sorry, Plucky.
Sora: Yuffie, do you know where we can find Leon?
Yuffie: He's probably at the underground cave in the alleyway. He trains there often. There's a channel in the alleyway that is connected to the cavern.
Sora: OK. Thanks, Yuffie. See you later!
The trio said good-bye and heads off. Before heading to the Second District, they went to the back alley of the First District and found a chest containing five Pikmin. They then went back to the Second District where they encountered a new type of Heartless called the Yellow Operas. They look just like the Red Nocturnes and Blue Rhapsodies, except they cast Thunder. Sora and the gang quickly finished them off and heads towards Olimar's house. Inside the house, Olimar was pacing around back and forth while Louie was sitting.
Olimar: Louie, I'm having a panic attack! What if our friend Sora doesn't find the Pikmin in time?
Louie: Calm down, Olimar! We have to trust in Sora. He seems pretty confident in finding the Pikmin.
Olimar: But what if he's too late by the time he finds them all? We'll die, Louie!
Louie: Snap out of it, Olimar! You're losing your mind!
Sora and the gang enters the house. The two stopped what they are doing and walked over to Sora.
Olimar: Sora, thank goodness your back!
Dizzy: We interrupt anything?
Olimar: It was nothing.
Sora: Well, anyway, we found some Pikmin.
He released the box and a bunch of Pikmin came flying out. They saw Olimar's ship and went to work on it.
Olimar: This is amazing! The Pikmin are fixing our ship!
Louie: But we need 70 more of them.
Olimar: You're right, Louie.
He then turns to Sora.
Olimar: Sora, thank you for gathering the Pikmin. We're one step closer to leaving this world and going home. However, we still need more of them and I'm counting on you to find them all.
Plucky: Don't worry. You can count on us.
Louie: Take this as a thanks.
He gave Sora a bag. He opens the bag and saw pieces for the Gummi Ship.
Plucky: This stuff could come in handy for us later. I'll hang onto it.
Olimar: Sora, we're running out of time! We need more Pikmin as soon as possible!
Sora: Don't worry, sir. We won't rest until we find them all.
Sora and Olimar shook hands as the group left the house. Sora and the gang returns to the alleyway where they encountered more Heartless which they quickly finish off. They went to the canal and rammed towards the iron bars. They went through the tunnel which leads to an underground cave. At the end of the cave, they found Leon and Aerith. Leon was swinging his Gunblade around while Aerith was watching him.
Sora: Hey, Leon!
Leon stops swinging and turns to see Sora.
Leon: Sora, nice to see you again. I see that you've gotten stronger since the last time we met.
Plucky: Yeah, we've been beating up Heartless left and right.
Sora: Yeah, while you were cowering behind a tree, Plucky.
Sora and Dizzy laughs.
Plucky: HEY!
Sora: Just kidding!
Leon: So, what brings you three here?
Sora told them about the worlds they have visited, mentioning the people they have met, including Cloud which caught Aerith's attention.
Aerith: Cloud is alive?
Dizzy: Aerith know Cloud?
Leon: It's a long story, but it's not something we should be talking about right now. But we do know that Cloud is from our world.
Aerith: Sora, if you see him again, please tell him to be careful.
Sora: We will. We promise.
Sora then went on and mentions the Keyholes.
Leon: So, you found the Keyholes?
Sora: Yeah. The Keyblade seals them and they locked automatically. Do you know what it means?
Leon: Every world among the stars has a Keyhole. Each one leads to the heart of that world. There must be one in this town as well.
Sora: What do you mean?
Aerith: It was in Ansem's Report.
Leon: The Heartless enters through the Keyhole and eats away the heart of that world.
Sora: The heart of the world?
Aerith: In the end, the world gets destroyed.
Sora, Plucky, & Dizzy: WHAT?
Sora puts his head down and looks sad thinking.
Sora: If only I knew sooner, I could have saved my world, Riku, and Kairi.
Dizzy puts his arm around Sora.
Dizzy: It OK, Sora. Dizzy here for Sora.
He licks Sora's face and made him smile.
Plucky: Don't worry, kid. We'll do everything we can to help.
Leon: That's why the Keyblade is so important.
Aerith: Please lock the Keyholes. You're the only one who can.
Sora: I don't know...
Leon: Seeing other worlds would probably serve you well.
Plucky: He's right, kid.
Dizzy: We gotta find Sora's friends and Buster.
Sora: I guess you're right...OK! I'll do it!
Leon: I have faith in you, Sora. You're the only one who can stop the Heartless.
Plucky then elbows Sora about the Gummi Block. Sora walks over to Leon, showing him the block.
Sora: Hey, Leon. We found a Gummi Block different from the others when we sealed the Keyholes. Do you know what it's for?
Leon: I don't know.
Aerith: Ask Cid. He should know.
Leon: Wait, Sora. Take this with you.
Before Sora begins to leave, Leon hands him a gem. The gem looks like a white egg with wings.
Leon: It's called a Rescue Gem. It holds a mysterious power. I've been carrying it as a good luck charm. Now I want you to hold onto it.
Sora: How do you use it?
Leon: I don't know, but I'm sure you can figure it out.
Sora then turns to his friends.
Sora: Come on, guys! We don't have time to waste!
Before Sora leaves the cave, he opens a chest that contains five more Pikmin. The gang then left the cave and returns to the alleyway. They fought off more Heartless as they returned to the First District. Back in the First District, they returned to the Accessory Shop. As they entered, they saw Cid taking a sip of his coffee and reading the newspaper. He then hears the bell on the door ring when they opened the door and he puts his paper down.
Cid: Hey, kid. Long time no see.
Sora: How are you doing, Cid?
Cid: Business is slow as ever. The Warners are makin a fortune from their Item Shop, they have to extend their shop as big as a Publix store.
Sora: Well, anyway, I came to bring you this.
He brings out the Gummi Block and shows it to Cid.
Cid: Well, if it ain't a Gummi Block. And it's a rare navigation type.
Dizzy: What it do?
Cid then starts laughing.
Cid: Are you kiddin me? Yer flyin a Gummi Ship and you don't know anything about Navigation Gummis? Bunch of pinheads. Interspace ain't no playground.
Sora:(Angry)There's alot we don't know! We have to use the Gummi Ship to go to other worlds! We don't have a choice!
Cid: Whoa, easy, kid. I didn't know. No hard feelins, alright? I guess I could lend you a hand.
Sora: Thanks, Cid!
Cid: Basically, with Navigation Gummis, you can go to new places. You want one on your ship, right?
Sora and the gang nods.
Cid: OK. I'll install it for you. But first...
Plucky: Why is there a catch for everything?
Cid:(Angry)Listen! How would you like to make over 300 shipments a day? You don't wanna see me in my angry mood!
Plucky jumps into Dizzy's arms.
Sora: Take it easy, Cid! He was kidding! So what's the problem?
Cid: Well, anyway, I gotta deliver this thing first.
Sora: What do you need to deliver?
Cid: Just this book.
He pulls out an old book. It has a green hard cover, but has no name.
Cid: It's real old. When the guy brought it in, it was practically fallin apart. Too beat up to restore it the way it was. But overall, I did a decent job puttin it back together. Anyway, you mind deliverin it for me? It's this skull house past the Third District. Look for a big fire sign.
He gave the book to Sora, then everybody felt a shaking and hear a loud bell sound.
Sora: Wh-what was that?
Cid: Hmm? The bell at the Gizmo Shop is ringin. Go check it out if you want, but deliver that book for me first. When you're done, stop by the house in the Third District. I'll be there.
The trio left the shop and heads for the Third District. There, they encountered Soldiers and a new type of Heartless called Air Soldiers. They are blue Soldiers with wings. Sora and the gang quickly took out the ground Soldiers and finished off the Air Soldiers with Thunder. After finishing off the Heartless, the trio found a door with a fire sign.
Sora: This must be the door. We better use the Fire spell.
He uses Fire to open the door. They went through the door to find a huge lake in a big cave and a house at the end. The house looks like a skull with feathers on top.
Dizzy: What that funny looking house?
Sora: It looks like a skull house. I wonder who lives there?
Plucky: Let's go in.
The trio enters the house. There are no Heartless in sight, but they were still alert just in case. At the end of the room is the stairs which leads to the second floor. The trio took the stairs and went up to the second floor. All of a sudden, Sora hears a very familiar voice.
?: There's something about this empty, musty place that reminds me of home...
Sora turns to see Kairi standing in front of him.
Kairi: It reminds me of the secret place back home, where we would scribble on the walls. The three of us sure had some fun, remember?
Sora: Kairi? Is that you?
Dizzy: Sora?
Sora turns to notice Plucky and Dizzy looking at him weird.
Plucky: You OK, kid?
Sora: I'm fine, but...
He turns back to where Kairi is, but she disappeared.
Sora: I could have sworn that was Kairi, or maybe I miss her so much, I can't get her out of my head.
?: Ho! Ho! Ho! You arrived sooner than me expected.
Dizzy: Who there?
Everyone turns to see a witch doctor with a bag. He wears a skull mask, feathers on top of his head, pink legs, and a straw skirt.
Sora: What? You knew we were coming?
Man: Of course.
Sora: Are you...a Heartless?
Plucky: How are you sure? He doesn't look like one.
Man: Me no Heartless. Me Mumbo Jumbo. Me witch doctor. Me spend time traveling world. Me help boy, duck, and dog.
Dizzy: Me no dog!
Plucky: How do you know we would arrive?
Mumbo: King Bunny requested help.
Dizzy: Buster?
Mumbo: Yes, duck name Plucky Duck and dog name Dizzy Devil. What is boy's name?
Sora: My name is Sora.
Mumbo: So, boy has found key.
Plucky: What did Buster ask you to do?
Mumbo: Just one moment...
He opens his bag and brings out the furniture with his magic. The furniture dances around the room before being set to their places.
Mumbo: King Bunny ask Mumbo to train boy in art of magic. Let Mumbo know when boy like to train. One more thing...
Suddenly, a Native American woman in a yellow poncho and headband arrives. Dizzy became love struck again.
Dizzy:(Blushing)Wh-Who you?
Woman: Me Humba Wumba. King Bunny ask me to help boy with key.
Plucky: Great, another person who can only talk in third person.
Sora then remembers the book Cid gave him.
Sora: By the way, the reason we came here is because Cid had a book that needs to be delivered to you.
He hands the book to Mumbo.
Mumbo: Thank you, boy. Me wonder when Cid will be finished with book. Boy wish to know what book it is. Me don't know what book is. Book show up in Mumbo's bag one day, so it not mine. It is curious book. Me ask Cid to repair it. Me put it on desk. Book hold great secret. Missing pages will unlock it. Give Cid my regard for fixing it up.
As Mumbo puts the book on his desk, Sora walks over to him and shows him a gem.
Sora: By the way, Leon gave us this weird gem. Do you have any idea what it does?
Mumbo: Boy should ask Humba Wumba about that.
Sora walks over to Wumba and hands her the gem.
Wumba: Poor things, trapped in here.
Dizzy: Someone actually in there?
Wumba: They turned into Summon Gem.
Sora: What's a Summon Gem?
Wumba: Little creatures live in world consumed by darkness. Although world destroyed, creatures have strong hearts to survive, so they become gem.
Sora: Can they regain themselves?
Wumba: Only spirit. Now watch!
She chants some weird words and taps the gem and it glows.
Dizzy: What happened?
Wumba: Their spirits revived. Boy can call them to help, but only for short time. If boy find any more, bring them to Wumba. When their world restored, they will return to world. Please save them, boy.
Sora: Don't worry, we'll find them.
He then walks over to Mumbo.
Sora: Mumbo, we like to test out this gem.
Mumbo: Very well. Boy will test out Summon Gem. Mumbo will teleport boy to special room.
Mumbo then uses some kind of magic to teleport Sora and the gang to a special room.
Plucky: Where are we?
Mumbo: This is training room. Targets will be furniture.
He uses his magic to move the furniture around.
Sora: Time to see what's in the gem.
Sora threw the Summon Gem in the air and his Keyblade began to glow. It fires a white light at the gem and the gem flashed. What came out are three small creatures. One creature looks like a small blue and yellow echidna with squinty eyes and four spots on it's back. One creature looks like a small light green sauropod with a leaf on it's head and what looks like a green necklace. The last creature looks like a small anthropomorphic light blue crocodile with red scales on it's back.
Creature 1: Wh-where are we? Last time we remember, we completed the Purity Forest and meet Celebi. All of a sudden, those black creatures came and now we ended up here.
The three creatures then looked at Sora.
Creature 2: Wow! An actual human! I thought they only existed in storybooks.
Sora: Who are you three?
Creature 1: Oh, forgive me. We haven't introduced ourselves. My name is Cyndaquil.
Creature 2: My name is Chikorita.
Creature 3: And I'm Totodile.
Cyndaquil: We are Team Go-Getters.
Sora, Plucky, and Dizzy looks at the three creatures. Plucky suddenly bursts out into laughter.
Plucky: HAHAHAHAHA! Those are the heroes of their world? I was expecting some big strong creature and all I saw are three young Pokemon!
The three creatures got mad at Plucky's comment. Cyndaquil activates the flames on his back and uses Flamethrower to burn Plucky, Totodile uses Water Gun to soak Plucky, and Chikorita uses Razor Leaf from her leaf to shred off Plucky's feathers and clothes.
Plucky: NO! My clothes!
He picks up his feathers and clothes and walks off screen. Sora and Dizzy were shocked to see that they were Pokemon.
Sora: Really? You guys were Pokemon?
Cyndaquil: Yes.
Sora: But we just visited the Pokemon World recently.
Dizzy: Not only that. These Pokemon can talk too.
Mumbo then walks up to the gang.
Mumbo: There must be two Pokemon Worlds. One has humans live with Pokemon. The other does not.
Cyndaquil: Our world doesn't have any humans. They only exist in stories.
Chikorita: In our world, we go on Rescue Missions to help other Pokemon.
Totodile: Most importantly, where are we and who are you?
Sora: Oh right. I haven't introduce myself. I'm Sora. The duck you three beat up was Plucky Duck.
Dizzy: And me Dizzy Devil.
Cyndaquil: Nice to meet you, Sora. But what about our world?
Sora: I hate to tell you, but your world was destroyed by the creatures called Heartless.
Chikorita: WHAT? Our world was destroyed? How did it happen?
Sora: It's kinda a long story. But your hearts were strong enough to survive and were imprisoned in this gem.
He shows them the gem they were contained in.
Totodile: Hey, that's the Rescue Badge.
Cyndaquil: But where did you get it?
Sora: A guy named Leon gave it to me. He said it was some kinda lucky charm.
Chikorita: Well, we were lucky to live and meet someone like you, Sora.
Mumbo: Mumbo hate to break your moment, but we have some training to do.
Mumbo uses his magic again to move the furniture around.
Totodile: Ahh! He's using magic!
Sora: You three can fight, right?
Cyndaquil: Of course we can.
Sora: Then show us what you can do.
Cyndaquil uses Flamethrower to burn the furniture, Chikorita uses Razor Leaf to tear up the furniture, and Totodile uses Water Gun to soak up and break the furniture.
Sora: Wow! That's incredible!
Cyndaquil: We would be of great help to you, Sora.
Suddenly, the gem starts glowing and the three Pokemon starts to disappear.
Chikorita: Well, our time is up. See you later, Sora!
The three Pokemon returns to the gem. Plucky walks back on screen with his feathers and clothes back on.
Plucky: Did I miss something?
Dizzy: You miss what Pokemon can do.
Plucky: WHAT? Please let me see what it is!
Sora: Sorry, Plucky. But the stone is deactivated.
Mumbo: Do boy wanna go back?
Sora: Yes. I think we're done here.
Mumbo then teleports the trio back to the second floor. Sora and the gang are about to leave.
Sora: It was nice knowing you, Mumbo. See Ya!
Mumbo: Give Cid, Mumbo's regards.
Sora and the gang left Mumbo's House and returns to the Third District.
That's it for Chapter 12. For those of you who may be wondering, Team Go-Getter is the team name from the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon anime special. Only I used Cyndaquil and Totodile to replace Charmander and Squirtle. I use the name Team Go-Getters whenever I start a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game. Next time, Sora will meet a familiar old friend.
