3rd POV

Sunrise came and brought light to the new day. The members of Team STRQ waited outside the Poppy Field Inn for (Y/N) to meet with them. Qrow stood as the odd one out with his backpack and sword hanging off his shoulders.

"That seems like it's pretty heavy Qrow," Summer said.

"He said to pack what I need to travel," Qrow replied.

"It still seem like a little too much," said Taiyang.

"I just wish the guy could hurry up," Qrow replied. "It's already dawn."

"Maybe he slept in," Raven said keeping from the others what she had done to (Y/N) the previous night. "I arrive exactly when I intend to Raven," a voice said coming from the inn's front door. Her eyes widened as she turned to find (Y/N) with a backpack and a katana hanging off his shoulders. Confusion and fear filled her seeing the man she killed alive and walking.

"You look like you've seen a ghost," (Y/N) said to Raven who stayed silent. "It's good to see you came to say farewell to your friend, but you need to make it quick. We have a lot of ground to cover today."

"Where are you guys going anyway?" Summer asked.

(Y/N) reached into his backpacked pulling out a map and unfolded it. "Right here," he said pointing at a mountainous area at the south by south west region of Sanus. "The Sanus Highlands. Home sweet home."

"Sounds good," Qrow said. "How do we get there?"

"Look down," (Y/N) answered.

Qrow did as he said looking down at the ground and seeing his feet. He then realized what (Y/N) meant. "We're walking there!?"

"Yes," (Y/N) replied. "If we move at the average walking speed for fifteen hours a day avoiding the road we can make it there in two months."

"Two months!?" Taiyang exclaimed.

"This is a part of his training," (Y/N) said. "He's going to build up his endurance and stamina. Now enough talk. We need to cover at least forty-five miles before dark." He returned the map to his backpack and started to run. "Come on Qrow," (Y/N) shouted. "It's three miles to the wall. Let's go!"

Qrow quickly said his good-byes to his teammates and chased after (Y/N) nearly tripping as he did. "Hey man, wait up!"

Raven watched as the two disappeared still confused to how (Y/N) was still alive.

Present Day.

(Y/N) POV

Ozpin had returned to Beacon leaving the girls in my care for the time being. I had finished telling them about Team STRQ making sure to leave the incident with Raven myself. Then we began walking down the streets of Vale so that I could keep a promise to a certain someone.

"So what was training Uncle Crow like?" Ruby asked.

"He complained a lot at first," I answered. "Especially about the blisters on his feet from walking all day. But like his feet he toughened up over time."

"But why the Highlands?" Weiss asked.

"It's my home and where Methos and Ramirez trained me," I said. "Sure I learned how to fight when I was a gladiator, but my skills with a blade were dull. They sharpened those skills with their training there. Plus the land has a kind of magic to it. The number of Grimm there is scarce and there are no attacks on the settlements in the area. A good place to start his training before traveling the rest of Remnant."

"Did he ever learn that you're Immortal?" Blake asked.

"I didn't intend on him finding out," I started. "But halfway through our training we were in Atlas where I was cornered by two Immortals working together. I killed them both and Qrow witnessed me receive their Quickenings. And like you I explained what I am to him."

"Do you still stay in contact?" Yang asked after being silent for some time.

I sighed. "I haven't been in contact with anyone from Team STRQ since I finished training Qrow," I replied. "It would be different if I was mortal, but it's difficult to maintain a relationship when those you care about grow old and you remain the same until you lose your head."

Yang frowned. "She's gone (Y/N)," she said. "Our mom, Summer, she's gone."

I stopped walking causing the others to stop. "I'm sorry," I said as I turned to face them. "I didn't know. She was a good person."

"The best," Ruby replied looking as if she was going to cry.

Our attention was grabbed by a loud coming from a big screen from across the street. "Breaking News" scrolled across it and Lisa Lavender appeared.

"The murder of Sunda Kastagir last night shook the Faunus community to its core," Lisa said. "But justice may be found for his death as the Headhunter of Vale has been revealed. The following photo was taken by a witness at the scene." Then a picture of the Kurgan wielding his sword faded onto one side of the screen. "Authorities have identified this man as thirty-four year old Viktor Krueger." Then a mug shot of the Kurgan appeared next to it. "This man has upstanding warrants across all four kingdom for crimes including rape, murder, theft, and kidnapping. A manhunt has begun for Krueger, and authorities are stressing that if anyone encounters him to report immediately to the nearest law enforcement officer. He is considered to be armed and extremely dangerous."

"Well it looks like he's going to have difficult time participating in your Gathering," Weis said with a smile.

I sighed. "It won't be an issue for him," I told her as I started to walk again. "He may be a savage but he's also smart. How do think he's been able to avoid the authorities of all four kingdoms? How do you think he came to Vale without anyone noticing?"

"Who is the Kurgan?" Ruby asked. "Where did he come from?"

"Well the Kurgans were an ancient people who lived in the north western steppes of Sanus," I began. "They were known for throwing their children into to pits of starving dogs and watching them fight over meat. Not the sort of environment you want a future Immortal to be born into."

"You're right," Blake said. "It sounds totally barbaric."

"It was considered so back then too," I replied. "The Kurgan is the strongest of all the Immortals. The perfect warrior. In his three thousand years on Remnant he's taken in incalculable number of heads growing more powerful with each one. If he gets the Prize he'll cover the world in a darkness from which it can never recover."

"How are you supposed to beat a monster like that?" Yang asked.

"With heart, faith, and steel," I said giving the same answer Ramirez gave me. "In end there can be only one." I stopped as we reached a Gothic cathedral with stained glass windows. "We're here."

"This is a church," Weiss said confused. "Why are we here?'

"To pay respect to the dead," I answered. "And to keep the promise."
