Chapter 22: An Inferno Fight at the May Cup
The next morning, Sora and the gang woke up. They put on their day clothes and rushed to the stadium. They ran all the way to the lobby where Ash, May, and Prof. Oak are waiting.
Oak: Sora, you're a little bit early.
Sora: I can't wait for the tournament to start!
Ash: We can start now if you wish.
Plucky: Well, let's start anyways!
May: Good luck, you guys. And it looks like you have some fans rooting for you here.
Sora and the gang turns to the Ham-Hams who are holding up signs and banners wishing them good luck.
Hamtaro: We'll be rooting for you, Sora!
Bijou: Go kick some butt, hamigos!
Sora: Thanks, you guys. Let's go, Plucky and Dizzy!
Plucky & Dizzy: Right!
Sora, Plucky, and Dizzy enters the arena while everyone else went up to the seats. Sweetie and Sneezer sat next to the Ham-Hams while Ash and Pikachu sat next to T.K. and Patamon. Team Sora will be facing Team Matt. The team consisted of Matt, Mimi, Joe, and their Digimon.
T.K.: Come on, Matt! You can do it, brother!
Matt: I hope your ready, Sora. Because we won't go easy on you.
Sora: I'm not planning to go easy on you guys either!
Announcer: Let the battle begin!
Gabumon, Palmon, and Gomamon Digivolves to their Ultimate Forms. Sora takes on Weregarurumon, Plucky takes on Lillymon, and Dizzy takes on Zudomon. Weregarurumon starts the fight with Garuru Kick, but Sora dodges it and uses Sonic Blade on him. Lillymon uses Flower Cannon, but Plucky counters it with Fira and burns Lillymon. Dizzy uses Spin Attack on Zudomon, doing some damage to him. After a few minutes, Weregarurumon and Lillymon got knocked out, reverting back to their Rookie Forms.
Sora: Now all that's left is Gomamon.
Plucky: I think you mean Zudomon.
Zudomon uses Hammer Throw to throw his hammer at Team Sora, but they dodged it and proceed to attack him. Sora and Plucky uses the Blizzara and Gravity combo while Dizzy finishes him off with Mega Punch and Mega Kick. Zudomon reverts back to his Rookie Form and got knocked out.
Announcer: Team Sora is the winner!
Sora walks up to Team Matt.
Sora: Are you guys OK?
Matt: Yeah. You are way too strong, Sora.
Mimi: I think Palmon should take a good long rest.
Joe: We need to train harder next time.
Plucky: And you'll need plenty of training if you wanna catch up to us.
Gomamon: You've got a good point there.
Gabumon: Next time we fight, I think I should become Metalgarurumon.
Palmon: I wish I would become a Mega too, Gabumon.
Gabumon blushes from Palmon's comment.
Sora: Well, anyway, good fight.
Sora and Matt shook hands as they took a 10 minute break. After 10 minutes are up, Team Sora went up in the arena against Team Tai. The team consisted of Tai, the Girl Sora, Izzy, and their Digimon.
Gatomon: Come on, Tai! You can do it!
Tai: Sora, we may be allies against Myotismon, but don't think that means I'll go easy on you.
Sora: Me neither. I'll give it everything I got!
Announcer: Let the battle begin!
Agumon, Biyomon, and Tentomon all Digivolved to their Ultimate Forms. Sora takes on Metalgreymon, Plucky takes on Garudamon, and Dizzy takes on Megakabuterimon. Metalgreymon starts things off with Mega Claw, launching his left claw at Sora, but he dodges it, climbs up the metal arm, and hits Metalgreymon in the face. Garudamon uses Wing Blade to hit Plucky, but Plucky counters with Thunder, zapping Garudamon. Megakabuterimon charges at Dizzy, but Dizzy jumps on Megakabuterimon and rides him around. Metalgreymon and Garudamon flew up in the sky and uses Giga Blaster and Wing Blade. They aimed at Sora and Plucky, but Dizzy rode Megakabuterimon towards the attacks. The attacks hit Megakabuterimon, reverting him back to his Rookie Stage.
Sora: Way to go, Dizzy!
Dizzy: Thanks, Sora.
Plucky: No, all that's left are Metalgreymon and Garudamon.
Dizzy: But they fly in air. How are we gonna take them down?
Plucky: Me and Sora know how.
Sora and Plucky uses Gravity on Metalgreymon and Garudamon, sending them both down to the ground. Sora quickly rushes in with the Sonic Blade, hitting both monsters at the same time. Metalgreymon fell on top of Garudamon as they both fall to the ground. When the dust clears, they reverted back to their Rookie Forms. Agumon was on top of Biyomon, locking lips in a kiss.
Sora: Aww, that's cute.
Announcer: Team Sora is the winner!
Agumon got off of Biyomon. Both of them are blushing. Sora walks up to Team Tai.
Sora: Are you alright, guys?
Tai: Yeah. Sorry we've underestimated you.
Girl Sora: You've made Agumon and Biyomon hook up though.
Agumon and Biyomon are still blushing.
Izzy: Somehow, I knew that Team Sora would win.
Tentomon: Oh, and why's that Izzy?
Izzy: We may have more experience than them, but they are much stronger and faster.
Sora: Well, we've faced alot of really strong foes.
Agumon: Next time we fight, I'll have to become Wargreymon.
Biyomon: You'll need alot of power to defeat him, Agumon.
Tai: And I'll have to team up with Matt to defeat you, Sora.
Sora: That's a match I'm looking forward to.
Sora and Tai shook hands as they took their 10 minute break. After 10 minutes are up, Team Sora returns to the arena. Their next opponents are Leon and Yuffie.
Plucky: Hey there, strangers. Who are you two again?
Leon: Come on, Plucky. You know it was us.
Plucky: Hahahahaha! I was just messing with you.
Sora: So we get to fight again, Leon. This time, I won't hold back.
Leon: Me neither. I'll fight with everything I got.
Announcer: Let the battle begin!
Sora charges at Leon while Plucky and Dizzy took on Yuffie. She threw ninja stars at the duo. They quickly avoided the attack, but one is able to take a tiny tear on Plucky's shirt. Meanwhile, Sora and Leon are clashing blades. Leon then uses the Fire spell on Sora, but Sora dodges it and uses Sonic Blade at Leon. Meanwhile, Plucky and Dizzy are still fighting Yuffie. Yuffie threw more stars, but Plucky counters them with Blizzara. Dizzy then proceeds to use his Spin Attack on Yuffie, doing some serious damage to her. Leon and Yuffie falls back.
Yuffie: They have grown alot stronger alright.
Plucky: Well, what do you expect? We are awesome!
Sora: You two are barely holding on and I doubt you can continue.
Leon: Think again. We're just getting warmed up. POWER!
Leon's Gunblade starts to glow and grew five times it's size.
Plucky:(Whimpers)I think it's time to run!
Leon swipes his sword at Sora, but he still dodges all of the attacks. Plucky and Dizzy are dodging Yuffie's punches and kicks, but couldn't lay a finger on her.
Plucky: You're really good. I'm glad we had a chance to spar.
Yuffie: You're pretty good too. But I'm dominating you so far.
Dizzy: We see about that.
Dizzy ran up to Yuffie and rams into her stomach. She fell into the ground, heavily panting. She tried to get up, but Plucky uses Gravity on her, putting her back on the ground. Plucky and Dizzy finishes her off by doing a punch and kick combo, knocking her out of the arena.
Dizzy: We did it!
Plucky: Now we must help Sora. He's struggling against Leon.
Sora was still dodging Leon's attacks, but still couldn't land a hit. Leon then jumps into the air and was about to land a hit on Sora, but Sora blocks it.
Leon: No way! How could you block that? My sword has the power to break anything in half!
Sora: I guess I'm the first to block it.
Sora pushes the Gunblade up and quickly kicks Leon in the guts. Plucky and Dizzy joins in to help Sora. Plucky uses Fira on Leon while Dizzy uses Spin Attack. They both did some damage to Leon. He then comes charging at the trio with his Gunblade, but Sora counters it with the Keyblade. Suddenly, Leon's Gunblade stops glowing and returns to normal. Sora proceeds to finish Leon off with the Keyblade, slashing him, and knocking him out.
Announcer: Team Sora is the winner! They will proceed to the finals!
The audience cheers for Team Sora's victory. Sora walks over to Leon and extends his hand. Plucky also heals Yuffie and she got up.
Leon: I'm impressed. You really are a great fighter.
Sora: The funny thing is, I was only warming up.
Leon: So you were. Now that makes us even.
Sora and Leon shook hands. Oak walks into the arena to congratulate Team Sora.
Oak: Well done, boys! You've made it to the finals!
He then turns to Leon and Yuffie.
Oak: As for you two. I have a surprise. There is a way for you to get back into the games. We hold special raffles. If you draw the right cards, you could return for a future tournament.
Yuffie: So that means we can have a second chance!
Leon: You're on your own then, because I'm gonna have Cloud as my partner.
He then turns to Sora.
Leon: Sora, good luck in the finals. Maybe we'll face each other again.
Sora: I'd look forward to it.
Everybody left the arena for a 20 minute break. During the break, they were talking to Ash and his friends. The Ham-Hams were there too.
Hamtaro: Congratulations! You guys have made it to the finals!
Bijou: I knew you would make it!
Sora: Thanks, Ham-Hams. I know of a place you could stay in for a while.
Maxwell: Oh, and what's that?
Sora: It's called Traverse Town. It's northwest of here.
Cappy: That sounds like a nice place.
Penelope: Ookwee!
Sandy: But once we get there, who will take care of us?
Sora: You can ask Leon. He should be able to help you guys.
Stan: That sounds like a plan. Don't you think, guys?
Pashmina: Yeah, we'll go check it out.
Plucky: So who are we fighting in the finals?
May: You'll get to fight me next. I won't go easy on you, guys.
Sora: We'll give it our all too.
Ash: Good luck, May! I'm rooting for you!
May: Thanks, Ash.
Oak: Well, you two better hurry! The match will start soon!
Sora: We're coming, Professor!
Team Sora went back to the arena. Their last opponent is May.
Ash: Come on, May! Show them what you got!
Girl Sora: You can do it!
Sora: Are you ready, May?
May: I'm as ready as you are!
May brings out her three Pokeballs.
May: Combusken, Beautifly, Skitty, take the stage!
She threw her Pokeballs and out came Combusken, Skitty, and a gray butterfly with colorful wings.
Gatomon: Come on, Skitty! You can do it!
Announcer: Let the battle begin!
The battle starts with Sora going after Combusken, Plucky going after Skitty, and Dizzy going after Beautifly.
Plucky: I get to fight a cute little kitten? This is going to be easy!
May orders Skitty to use Blizzard, freezing Plucky. She then uses Assist, which turns out to be a Fire Spin. It melts the ice and burns Plucky. Beautifly uses String Shot on Dizzy, causing him to trip. She then use Silver Wind, hitting Dizzy with silver energy cutters. Combusken uses Double Kick on Sora who blocks it with his Keyblade, but on the final kick, the Keyblade flew out of Sora's hand. Combusken proceeds to use Sky Uppercut, which sends Sora flying up in the air. Team Sora are struggling against May's Pokemon.
Plucky: Man, they are really strong!
Dizzy: Dizzy don't think he can beat them easily!
May: You three should give up now if you value your lives!
Sora: Never! We'll keep on fighting to the end!
May: Very well, then! Prepare to lose!
Skitty uses another Assist, which turns out to be Silver Wind, but Plucky uses Stop to freeze time. This gives Team Sora an opportunity to escape and counterattack. When time returns to normal, Skitty's attack missed. Plucky uses Blizzara on Skitty, Dizzy delivers Mega Punch and Mega Kick, and Sora uses Fira. They ganged up on Skitty, knocking her out. Next, they focused on Beautifly. She uses Psychic on Dizzy, but Sora and Plucky uses Thunder on her, freeing Dizzy. Sora then use Gravity on Beautifly, flooring her to the ground. Dizzy uses Spin Attack to finish off Beautifly, sending her out of the arena.
All that's left is Combusken. She uses Fire Spin on the trio, doing some serious damage to them and trapping them in a flaming vortex. She then proceeds to use High Jump Kick on Sora, but he uses Stop. Once the vortex dies down, Team Sora manages to escape. When time returns to normal, Combusken hits the ground, doing some recoil damage to herself. Plucky uses Blizzara, Dizzy uses Spin Attack, and Sora uses Sonic Blade to finish Combusken off. All three attacks hit Combusken, knocking her out.
Announcer: Team May is unable to battle! Team Sora is the winner!
The audience cheers for Team Sora's victory. May ran up to her Pokemon.
May: Combusken! Beautifly! Skitty! Are you all OK?
Her Pokemon all nodded. Sora walks up to May.
Sora: Hey, that was a great battle.
May: I've really underestimated you guys.
Plucky: Hey, don't sweat it. We've been through alot worse.
May: You guys were great. Do you think we can battle again once my team gets stronger?
Sora: Sure, May. I would love to have a rematch.
Sora and May shook hands. Moments later, Sora is back at the lobby, speaking to Oak.
Oak: Excellent job, Sora. You've been doing so well in the tournament. I'm very pleased with the progress your making. I now feel sorry for underestimating you.
Plucky: So, does that mean we're heroes?
Oak: Not just yet, Plucky. You still have a long way to go.
Plucky looks down in disappointment.
Sora: Relax, Plucky. We'll become heroes soon.
Oak turns to Sora.
Oak: Here's your reward.
He hands Sora a badge.
Sora: What kinda badge is this?
Plucky: That's a rare badge. It's called the Strike Raid. It allows you to throw the Keyblade.
Oak: I hope to see you soon.
Ash: The next tournament will be my cup. You'll have to train really hard.
Sora: Thanks, Ash. See you later.
Sweetie: Good-bye, Hamtaro and Bijou.
Hamtaro: Good-bye, Sweetie and Sneezer.
Bijou: You two take care of Sora and the others.
Sneezer: We will. See you later.
Sora's group said good-bye to everybody and returns to the Gummi Ship. They warped back to Odaiba.
Sweetie: It will take use 30 minutes to get to the next world. We couldn't get there before, because of Sweet Paradise.
Sora: Well, now that Sweet Paradise is gone, we can proceed.
The Gummi Ship proceeds east from Odaiba and went into the vacuum of space.
That's it for chapter 22. Next time, Sora and the gang will arrive at the world they were originally going to before Sweet Paradise got in the way.
