(Y/N) POV

"I'm getting tired of our game of hide and seek. Let's finish this once and for all Highlander. Meet me at Mountain Glen within the next two days. If you're a no show I don't mind going after your little girlfriends at Beacon. This close to the end I have no problem going there and getting to know them better. I'll be waiting."

It had been a half hour since I had listened to that message on my machine. Since then I made three calls. One to Rachel, one to Ozpin, and one to a friend who owed me a favor. After that I filled a duffle bag with a change of clothes and my gladius blade which I neatly wrapped in cloth. I took both it and my Katana and slung them over my shoulder as I started downstairs from my loft to the front of the store. At that moment Rachel entered the door.

"It seems I made it just in time," Rachel said.

I walked up to Rachel and placed my hand on her shoulder. "Rachel, there are instructions in my desk drawer. I want you to follow them. There's a power of attorney for you. You'll have everything you need."

A look of sadness formed on her face. "You're not coming back," Rachel said. "Even if you kill him you're not coming back are you?"

I took my hand from her shoulder and placed it against her face. I then envisioned the young Faunus girl that I had first met decades ago. "Sweet Rachel," I said. "I couldn't been more proud of you. But you know what I am, and you always knew this would happen. As far as Remnant is concerned (Y/N) (L/N) dies tonight." Rachel's eyes were filled with tears. I kissed her on the other cheek and gave her a hug. "Hey," I said as I backed away and faced her. "Remember what I told you about immortality?"

Rachel smiled. "It's a kind of magic."

"That right," I agreed. "It's a kind of magic. Goodbye Rachel."

"Good bye (Y/N) (L/N)."

I turned for the door and left the store into the night. I needed to finish my preparations before I left for Beacon.

Next Day

New Bulletin scrolled across the screens of numerous televisions and multimedia devices across Remnant. Lisa Lavender sat at her desk with the same text on a screen.

"We interrupt your viewing content to bring you this special news bulletin," Lisa began as the text on the screen were replace with a picture of the Kurgan. "Viktor Kreuger, the infamous Headhunter of Vale has struck again adding to the serial beheading victims around the Kingdom over the past few months. City workers were responding to a power outage on the south side when they found the victim's decapitated body stuck in a Dust grid not far from his head. He carried no identification and both his body and face were burnt beyond recognition. This morning police released the identity of the victim as twenty-five year old (Y/N) (L/N)." An image of (Y/N) and Rachel appeared in the frame. "A local antique dealer (L/N) had sold pieces across all four kingdoms earning himself a reputation amongst those in the collector's community. He passes leaving no family or blood relatives. With this an eight o'clock curfew has gone into effect until further notice. Only law enforcement and authorized officials will be allowed past this time. Stay tuned to VNN for more on this story as it develops. We now return to your viewing content."

3rd POV

After the news of (Y/N)'s death had reached the members of Team RWBY a wave of sadness had overtaken the four. The news, however, hit Yang the hardest. She had not attended classes that day instead staying in the team's room. The girls had only learned recently of Yang's feelings for the Immortal, and couldn't begin to imagine her pain having learned of his passing. The others had skipped lunched in order to check up on her.

Ruby entered first while Weiss and Blake waited by the door. She found Yang in her makeshift bunk lying on her side facing the wall. Ruby carefully made her way to her sister. "Hey," she said calmly. "We brought notes from class."

"I'll look at them later," Yang replied unmoving and her voice filled with sorrow.

Weiss entered the room prompted by her teammate's behavior. "Yang, we all knew this might happen," Weiss said. "(Y/N) told us himself that there was a chance the Kurgan would kill him and get the Prize. We can't afford to mope."

"Weiss!" Blake yelled as she entered the room.

"No Blake!" Weiss shouted back.

"What's the point?" Yang whispered. "If the Kurgan has the Prize nothing can stop him."

"Well nothing like (Y/N) said has happen yet," Blake said.

"Blake's right," Ruby agreed. "We don't even know what the Prize has done to the Kurgan. There may be a way to stop him."

Yang rolled over to face the three. "HOW!?" she shouted. "How are we supposed to stop him? He's immortal and we're not. Remember how easily (Y/N) beat us? The Kurgan is stronger than he was. So how? How do we stop the Kurgan, Ruby?"

"I don't know!" Ruby shouted back. "We'll figure out something when it happens." She knew her answer didn't satisfy her sister, but she also knew she was right. The Kurgan was too strong for them. If they did encounter him all they could do is hope that a miracle would save them.

"In any case you've got to get up," Weiss said. "We have our mission today."

Yang's eyes widened. "That's today!?" she yelled. She jumped out of bed rushing to remove her pajamas and change into her combat gear.

"Well at least she's out of bed," Blake commented.

"Let's just hope she can focus out there," Weiss added.

"Yeah," Ruby replied.

1 hour later

Team RWBY had received the Grimm extermination at Mountain Glenn. This particular mission would give them the chance to investigate their lead on Torchwick and the White Fang. I would also help the four get their minds off of (Y/N).

"We can do this," Ruby said. "We've never backed down before, and we're not going to start now."

"Right," Blake replied.

"Besides, it won't only be us out there," Ruby continued. "We'll be fighting alongside a genuine Huntsman!"

"Yeah," Yang replied still dwelling on (Y/N).

The four had reached the airship. When they looked toward it each were stunned by Huntsman waiting for them.

"Why hello girls!" the green-haired and spectacled professor exclaimed. "Who's ready to fight for their lives?"

"Professor Oobleck?" Weiss said dumbfounded. "We're shadowing you?"

"That's correct Miss Schnee," Oobleck answered. "And as soon as Mr. Nash arrives we'll be on our way."

Yang's eyes widened. "Professor did you just say Nash?" The others appeared just as shocked by Oobleck's words.

"Why yes Miss Xiaolong," Oobleck replied. The professor looked past the four girls. "I believe this is him."

The four turned around to see a man walking toward them. He wore a long black coat, a (F/C) hoodie, a pair of cargo pants, and worn out street shoes. His hood was up obscuring his face, but when he reached the group he removed it. The man had (E/C) eyes and short spiked (dye/C) hair. Although he looked different the girls knew who he was.

"Russel Nash," (Y/N) said. "It's a pleasure to meet you ladies."

"(Y/N)!" Ruby yelled. "You're alive. But how?"

"It's not that hard when you have a friend who has access to dead bodies and can switch your dental records," (Y/N) explained. "Then I asked Ozpin to help me get to Mountain Glenn and here I am. Coincidentally you ladies are going there too."

Yang moved past the others stopping directly in front of (Y/N). Her eyes were filled with tears. She gritted her teeth as her irises turned red and then punched him in the gut. "Idiot!"

"Miss Xiaolong!" Oobleck exclaimed.

(Y/N) held up one hand while holding his stomach with the other. "It's alright Professor," he said. "I had it coming."

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Yang shouted. "Do you have any idea what you put us through? We thought the Kurgan killed you. We thought he had the Prize. We were- I was-" She looked down trying to hide her face.

"I'm sorry," (Y/N) said as he straightened out. "I wasn't trying to hurt you."

Yang looked back up at (Y/N) with her eyes welling up again as she wrapped her arms around him. He quickly raised his arms before contact was made. Then Ruby joined them unexpectedly wrapping her arms around the two of them.

Blake sighed at the spectacle being made. "Come on Weiss," she said dragging Weiss by her arm toward the three. The Faunus joined both Ruby and Yang hugging (Y/N), and Weiss hesitantly did the same.

"You girls realize that you're making a scene," (Y/N) stated.

"Shut up," Yang said. "It won't kill you."

"I guess you're right," (Y/N) said as he wrapped his arms around the four. Releasing himself from the girls he turned his attention to Oobleck. "I believe that Ozpin has informed you of my situation."

"Yes Mr. Nash," Oobleck answered. "I hope you'll be able to find and deal with Viktor Krueger while we're there."

"The Kurgan is at Mountain Glenn?" Weiss asked.

"He challenged me," (Y/N) replied. "He said to meet him there or he would come after the four of you." The girls looked shocked as they turned to each other. "I'm tired of waiting. It's time to end this."
