3rd POV

Ruby had left both Oobleck and Zwei to combat the enemy driven Paladin. She hurried to reach the front of the train. Soon after the rest of Team RWBY exited from the train cars to rejoin her. "Where's (Y/N)?"

"Fighting the Kurgan," Yang answered.

Her sister's answered worried Ruby. If (Y/N) lost then it wouldn't matter if they stopped the train. Then her mind changed it focus onto a concrete wall ahead. It wouldn't be long until the train collided with it.

"What do we do?" Blake asked.

Ruby looked to Weiss with a smile. She smiled back to her and then proceeded to create an ice shield. The four braced themselves as the train crashed into the wall.

(Y/N) POV

Air rushed back into my lungs as I took a deep breath. Whatever the train had hit flung the Kurgan and I across the car and into a wall. The impact must have killed me. I searched the room and found the Kurgan limp on the floor next to his sword. He hadn't come back yet. My first thought was to pick up his sword and take his head, but then the thought of Yang and the others. I grabbed my sword and began to run through the remaining cars to the engine. When I reached it I looked out the viewing port to see we were outside. I saw a square crawling with many species of Grimm, and standing in the middle of the pavilion was Team RWBY. "You did this," a voice came from behind me. I turned around to find a man with orange hair, a white suit, and a black bowler pointing a cane at me.

"You Immortals are the reason this happened," the man continued. "If the Kurgan hadn't shown up, if you hadn't shown up, then everything would be going according to plan."

I could sense his violent intent as he took aim for my torso. "You're the only one at fault," I said as I focused my Quickening throughout my body. "Your mistake was thinking you could trust him."

The man gritted his teeth then a ball of fire came forth from the cane and struck me in the chest. The force of the impact blew me through the front of the train and sent me flying through the air. When I hit the ground I had collided with a Beowolf, and the dark particles of its dying body went into the air. I got off of my back and onto all fours to find a hand reach out to me. Looking up I found Yang with a grin on her face. "Hey."

I smiled as I took her hand and was lifted up. Then a buzzing sensation flowed through my head. An explosion sounded in the direction of the wrecked train, and I saw the Kurgan leap from it with his blade ready to strike down. "LOOK OUT!" I shouted pushing Yang away and drew my sword to block his. The clash of our blades released sparks in all directions. As I held the Kurgan back I caught a glimpse of Yang in the corner of my eye. "Go, you have your fight I have mine!" She nodded and returned her focus on the Grimm that filled the square.

"Oh the games we'll play together once you're dead," the Kurgan growled with a smile.

My anger flared as I pushed him away. As the space between us grew we circled one another moving to the center of the pavilion. I looked around noticing that Grimm ignoring our presence and focusing on the number of Huntsmen and Huntresses that had entered the square to combat them. I pulled my hood over my head cautious that my altered hair wouldn't be enough to conceal my identity.

My concern seemed to amuse the Kurgan and he used the moment to close the distance between us. Our blades met and our battle began. Strikes were blocked and sparks flew as metal slid against metal. We appeared to be matched in skill holding our own. Then he charged at me bringing his sword down on me. I deflected the strike creating an opening and slashed him across the belly. "That's for Ramirez."

I hid my enjoyment of the look of surprise on the Kurgan's face. He had slowed down slightly readying a two handed strike at my side. I deflected the strike again and cut up his torso. "That's for Heather."

The Kurgan stared me down and grinned. Our gazes were locked as we circled once again. He knew as well as I did that this would be the last move. He readied his blade to swing but I was faster with mine. By the time he finished his stroke I was already behind him. I turned around to face him and he did the same to me. "That was for me."

3rd POV

The Huntsman, Huntresses, and civilians in the square were confused. The Grimm had suddenly stopped fighting. Their aggression disappear and they were all calmly staring at the center of the square.

This predicament bothered Cinder most of all. Not only was their attack on Beacon triggered prematurely, the Grimm were being beaten back, and now they weren't moving. It was then that she saw what they were looking at.

The two Immortals stood at the center of the pavilion. The Kurgan dropped his sword and reacted his hand toward (Y/N). His eyes met Cinder's and he smiled as the slit across his throat expanded. The Kurgan's head fell back until coming completely off. Then with a monstrous roar a pillar of light shot from his neck into the sky. The headless Immortal fell to his knees before the Highlander as the light continued to go up until it flickering out and the body went flat to the ground.

The Huntsman, civilians, and Grimm stared silently at the center of the square where (Y/N) stood next to the decapitated body of the Kurgan. Dark clouds gathered above and thunder rolled. The Highlander removed his hood for all to see who he was. "I am the Highlander, and I am Immortal!" he shouted with his voice breaking the silence. "The death of Viktor Kreuger marks the end of the Gathering, when the stroke of a sword and the fall of a head releases the power of the Quickening. In the end, there can be only one!" Then the windows of the surrounding buildings shattered startling everyone. A light came down from the sky striking the Immortal and releasing a shockwave of energy that obliterated the Grimm and knocked everyone else to the ground.

Team RWBY picked themselves up and regrouped staring at the spectacle. "Is that the Kurgan's Quickening?" Ruby yelled.

"No," Yang shouted remembering (Y/N) fight with Fasil. "That light that came out of him before was his Quickening. Which means this must be the Prize."

(Y/N) moaned loudly as lightning went into him and mist formed a circle around him. From the mist came a spectral hand that took hold of the Immortal, and lifted him into the air. The mist then took the form of demonic spirits that flew around the square before flying through (Y/N). "The Quickening overpowers me!" (Y/N) shouted. "I feel everything! I know, I know everything! I AM EVERYTHING!" The spirits gathered together forming one great creature that clamps its ethereal jaws around the Immortal only to be taken into his body. The lightning arced out of his body striking the surrounding triggering explosions all around. At that moment he saw an endless white plane where two figures stood. One with antlers bathed in light, and the other with horns shrouded in darkness. "Well done," they said in unison. (Y/N)'s view return to the dark sky and then immediately fell to the ground.

Team RWBY rushed to (Y/N) who was struggling to get on his feet. Both Yang and Blake helped him up and Weiss picked up his sword. They took a moment to look around. The power of the Prize had killed all the Grimm and destroyed much of the surrounding area.

"Is it over?" Ruby asked.

"Yeah," (Y/N) answered as he removed himself from Yang and Blake. "Let's get back to Beacon. I need to speak with Ozpin."

"Be careful," Yang said. "You were up in the air pretty high."

"I'll be fine," (Y/N) replied while Weiss handed him his sword. He returned it to his side and started to make his way out of the square followed by Team RWBY. It was then that Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury came up to the group.

"That was quite the show," Cinder said. With a swift motion (Y/N) came up to her and began to whisper into her ear. What he had said had caused her eyes to widen in shock. He left her side and went back to walking.

"What was that about?" Weiss asked.

(Y/N) sighed. "Just told her something she might want to know."
