Chapter 7: Home is Where the Heart Is
Betty, Daniel and Isabelle walked into the hotel that had a beautiful outdoor terraced restaurant. Betty laughed when Isabelle ran to the elevator and pushed the button. She and Daniel smiled, taking each other's hand. A flurry of butterflies surfaced at his touch. How was it that no matter how long they were married she still felt butterflies around him?
As they got into the elevator that opened, Daniel placed his arm around her and she melted into him, her eyes becoming glossy at the overwhelming feeling of love that swept over her.
He looked at her and the sweet look in his beautiful blue eyes went straight to her heart. She smiled, her eyes shining as she looked at him, "I love you so much"
He grinned "I love you, gorgeous."
She smiled brighter, and he held her tighter and said. "I missed your smile so much."
His voice gave her butterflies. She pulled him close, "I missed you" she placed a kiss on his cheek.
Just a few minutes later they were being led to the outdoor seating of the restaurant. Each time they came here with Isabelle, she always gasped in awe as she saw it. "It's so pretty"
Daniel smiled "Just like you, princess"
They were led to a booth that was near the fence that encompassed the beautiful space; it was covered in ivy and roses, the whole place was like a secret English garden. All the tables had pink and white flowers in the center. Everything about the space was charming.
"Oo, I wanna sit in the middle" Isabelle stated as she slid into the center. The hostess smiled, while Daniel and Betty laughed, getting in on either side of Isabelle. The hostess placed down a couple of menus before she left.
Daniel picked up one of them and opened it, handing it to Isabelle. Isabelle looked for a minute trying to read everything, while Betty played with her hair, and Daniel smiled as he watched her look at the menu.
After a moment he leaned into her, "Hey, princess, see anything you like?"
She nodded, "Uh-huh, there's so many things!"
He chuckled, "I have an idea, what do you think if we all share the buttermilk pancakes with berries and maple syrup?"
Isabelle looked at him, "oo, that sounds yummy."
He chuckled, "yep, it definitely is. And we can get that cinnamon French toast you got last time that you liked a lot."
She nodded, excitedly "ok! I like the cinnamon"
Daniel smiled, "Me too"
Betty bit her lip as she watched them interact, her heart floating. There was nothing sweeter to her than seeing her husband and best friend, Daniel Meade, and their sweet daughter interact with each other. They were so cute.
She loved being with the both of them, and enjoyed seeing how Isabelle liked this place just as much as she did.
She remembered when Daniel brought her here for their anniversary a few years ago. It was so magical, especially at night with the way they had little candles and lanterns making it look so romantic and beautiful, especially amidst all the flowers and plants everywhere.
"Daniel! This place is amazing and so beautiful " She stated in awe, her eyes shining at the breath-taking sight. He smiled as he placed his hand to her waist, leaning in to whisper in her ear "not as amazing and beautiful as you right now"
She blushed as he looked at her with such an admiring gaze. She took his hand in hers and he soon led her to a table. Before she sat down, he picked out his phone and said, "wait, Betty, let me take a picture. You look so pretty and gorgeous. With this lighting, and the flowers and plants all around you, you look like a goddess."
She blushed, her heart filling, "thank you, Daniel, but only if you take a picture WITH me after."
He grinned, "deal"
She smiled, and he took a picture of her, a sweet smile on his face. She blushed when his eyes met hers and he smirked flirtingly at her, "you look so damn gorgeous tonight, Betty."
She smiled as he approached her and wrapped his arm around her waist pulling her close, the look in his eyes so magnetizing.
"I love it so much when you wear red, Betty. You look hot" The desire in his voice gave her butterflies.
She bit her lip, as she pulled at the lapels of his jacket and then kissed him. His hand went into her hair as he returned the kiss. Her heart lifted. She wished she could get carried away, but moved back, a dazed look in her eyes, "let's take a picture together before the waiter gets here." She whispered breathlessly.
He nodded and picked out his phone again. They took a couple of pictures, but at the last one, just as he was taking it Betty snuck a kiss to his cheek. He grinned once he took it looking to her, his eyes shining. She giggled, "I couldn't resist. You are so hot!"
He grinned, "why thank you, sexy."
She smiled, "you're welcome, hottie. We should probably sit down. People keep looking at us." She blushed, realizing several times others nearby took glances at them. Daniel on the other hand didn't care one bit, and said, "that's because my wife is so freaking gorgeous."
She beamed, "well, that's only because my husband is so freaking handsome and sexy." She pulled at him to bring him closer and gave him a deep kiss.
He grinned, chuckling realizing how crazy they really were. "I love you, Betty. I will never stop showing you how much I love you. I don't care who is around us."
She felt her heart soar as he said that. He was so sweet. He smirked, "Besides, how the hell do you expect me not to, with you looking this gorgeous? You are radiant."
She looked at his eyes with so much love and admiration, the fact that he thought and said those things about her never ceased to amaze and touch her. She pulled him close and placed a kiss to his cheek, "I love you"
He smiled, "Come on, guess we better sit down now. The waiter is coming" he pulled out her chair for her and she took it, wanting so badly to pull him down to her for another kiss, but settled on saying "thank you"
He sat across from her and the waiter came and dropped them a couple of menus before he went to get some water and wine that Daniel ordered.
Once the waiter left Daniel looked at Betty to see that she had been watching him. He felt his heart race seeing just how breathtaking Betty really was tonight, especially knowing that she had been watching him with that sweet smile of hers, her eyes sparkling amidst the lanterns around their table.
The red hot blazer she was wearing was making her look even more gorgeous, and with the fabric being sequins it caught and reflected any light that was around. He could tell the black dress underneath was pretty, too. Since she wasn't wearing her glasses tonight, he could see her sparkling pretty eyes.
His wife, his Betty, was a radiant beauty. He grinned, his eyes shining in flirtation, "see something you like, my love?" He teased.
She blushed, taking him in, her eyes gliding over him, as he was looking so handsome in his sharp black suit, his blue eyes shining, then said, "mhm, except I don't just like it… I love you. Your face, your eyes, your heart, your everything."
He smiled, "I love you, Betty. I can't believe we've been married for 4 years already and have an almost 3-year old daughter."
Her eyes became glossy almost instantly, "I know. Time goes by so fast. But I feel like we've already shared a lifetime together."
He smirked, "Yah, being best friends and working at Mode together definitely makes it feel like we were in battle together."
She laughed, "I guess in some ways we actually were"
He grinned, but reached across picking up her hand, "I'm so grateful that I had you in my life. I can't imagine surviving Mode, hell, my life, without you, Betty. You were, are and always will be the best thing that ever happened to me."
She placed her other hand over their hands, her eyes glossy and shining with admiration, "Me too, Daniel. Having you in my life brought so much excitement and surprises, and you inspired me and pushed me to keep pursuing my dreams."
They shared a meaningful loving smile when the waiter came back placing their waters and wine glasses, pouring them each a glass, then asked them what they wanted to order. Betty and Daniel picked up their forgotten menus and quickly placed their order.
Once the waiter left Daniel picked up his glass, prompting her to do the same. He smiled, his eyes reflecting that twinkle "To us and another lifetime together"
She clinked her glass with his, "to my best friend and my love"
They took a sip, but Daniel surprised her when he quickly got up and stood next to her. "Can I hug you?"
Tears filled her eyes and she got up and hugged him. Daniel held her closer, his warmth and love enveloping her.
Betty felt like her heart was not only bursting with love, but soaring out of her body from the best hug of her life. She pulled away just enough to see his face, "I love you"
He smiled and picked up her hand and placed a sweet kiss, his eyes locked on hers reflecting all of his love, "I love you, Betty."
"Betty… psst…" she heard Daniel's voice snapping her back to the present. She looked at him, her eyes shining, and he gave a funny curious smile, "you really zoned for a minute there, are you ok?"
She nodded, "mhm, more than ok" she looked at him and Isabelle, her heart glowing at the love she felt for them. Nothing was better than being with them.
He smirked, "what were you thinking about?"
She looked to Isabelle who was looking at her with a sweet smile, and then back to Daniel. "You. About our anniversary, here. About how lucky I am to have not one but two loves of my life" she hugged Isabelle to her, who said "I love you, too, mommy"
Daniel looked at Betty with possibly the sweetest look in his blue starry eyes. "That was a great night."
She nodded, "The best"
He grinned, "do you still have the letter I wrote you?"
She laughed, "Do you even have to ask? I keep everything you give me. I even still have that recommendation you wrote me and, of course, that issue of Mode."
He smiled, "Good"
She laughed, "Do you have the letter I wrote you?"
He grinned, "I don't just have it, whenever I'm feeling upset about something or stressed, I read your words and I instantly feel better."
She smiled, then blushed when she noticed Isabelle was watching her with a smile. Betty hugged her close. Betty twisted a strand of her hair, "I love you, Belle."
"I love you, mommy" Isabelle's voice was so sweet.
Betty's heart was floating being here with her two loves. They were her heart and she knew she only felt home whenever she was with them.
