Chapter 1

It had been 2 years since the war and everything was back to normal. Well as normal as it could, deep down everyone knew it could never be the same. First of all Hermione and Ron had finally gotten together after denying their feelings for each other for years, George had taken some time but eventually realised that Fred would have wanted him to be happy and in his words, "when we meet again he would kill me again for acting all depressed". Bill and Fleur had a wonderful life and a beautiful six month old daughter, Victoire. Charlie was back in Romania with his dragons, but he visited more often (twice a month at least). Percy had apologised to his family and Harry and they were all on good terms. Mr. and Mrs. Weasley were happy that their family was back together.

And Ginny... well Ginny had graduated from Hogwarts about two months ago and immediately got a place on the Holyhead Harpies as a chaser. She wanted to get a job as quick as she could so that she could move out of the Burrow. She made excuses like "needing her own space" and "not enough room" to convince everyone (mostly herself) that it wasn't because Harry visited the Burrow almost everyday. Everyone had went back to their lives after the war, sure it took some time but eventually everyone settled back.

Well maybe not everyone.

Harry was sitting outside the Burrow by the pond when he heard footsteps. He turned around and pointed it straight at the person's chest.

"Woah! I'm not going to kill you." She said with a smile.

"Sorry, old habits." He said and sat back down. She came and sat next to him. They sat in silence for a little bit until Ginny spoke.

"Hi."

"Hey."

"What happens now?" She asked.

"I don't know. Me and Ron starting Auror training next week, you and Hermione are going back to Hogwarts in a few months." He said not making eye contact with her.

"You know that's not what I mean. What about us?" She said pointing between herself and him. "Is there an 'us' anymore?"

"I... I don't know Gin." Finally making eye contact with her. "I'm starting Auror training and I'll be very busy with that. Not to mention there are still death eaters out for revenge and being with you puts you in a lot danger."

"Harry why don't you understand! I. Don't. Bloody. Care." She said raising her voice.

"But I do Ginny! I don't want you to get hurt because of me!"

"You already hurt me! You hurt me when you broke up with me! You hurt me when you left! You hurt me when you went and got yourself killed!" She said as tears flowed down her cheeks. She stood up and so did he.

"Ginny..." he started but she cut him off.

"NO! YOU DON'T GET TO DO THIS TO ME!" she yelled when he reached for her hand. "I spent all my life trying to get you to love me and whenever I think there maybe a little chance you might you go and break my heart! Every fucking time! First you don't even notice I'm a person for five bloody years and when I finally get tired of waiting around for you, you go and kiss me! Then when I finally think that there might be a chance for 'us', you break up with me, but I keep telling myself that you'll come back to me after this is all over. Now when that finally happens you tell me that there isn't an 'us' anymore!?!"

"Ginny I didn't say that! I just said maybe we wait a little while." He said looking her straight in the eyes.

"I'm done waiting for you Harry Potter." She said as a tear fell out of her eye. All he wanted to do was wipe it away.

"Ginny please don't do this. I just need a little time."

"I'm sorry Harry but I've wasted all my life waiting and waiting and I just can't anymore." She turned around and made her way back to the Burrow. Harry felt something wet on his cheek and he realised that he had let a tear escape his eyes.

After that Harry and Ginny generally tried to avoid each other. Sure they'd see each other at Sunday dinners at the Burrow sometimes but they tried their best to keep away from one another. After awhile Ginny and Harry started missing a few of the Sunday dinners because of work. They started seeing less of each other and their conversations mostly of 'hi's and 'hello's.

That was until it was Ron's birthday and he and Hermione had invited quite a few people over to the Burrow for a party. Obviously Harry and Ginny were invited.

At Ginny's flat

The alarm started ringing and Ginny Weasley started slapping her hand on her bedside table trying to find the alarm clock. When she failed she raised her head up and opened her eyes. She saw the alarm clock and started hitting it, but it wouldn't stop. She finally realised that waant going to work unless she actually got up. Hermione had charmed the clock so if there was an event or a special occasion it wouldn't stop unless the person woke up. She lazily got out of bed realising it was Ron's birthday today. As she was getting out she tripped over her sheets and landed face first on the floor.

'A great start to a great day.' She thought.

She got off the floor and headed to the bathroom to get dressed.
