Chapter 37: A Storybook Ending Part 2
Sora arrives in another part of Animal Village where there was a river and a bridge. On the bridge, he notices Ai and Rosie looking down the river and talking.
Rosie: Look, Ai. Somebody is floating this way.
Ai: You're right, Rosie. Who could that be?
Sora and the girls looked at the river from the bridge to see a white elephant in a pink shirt with yellow flowers on them.
Ai: Why, it's Margie! Hello, Margie! How are you doing?
Margie looks up the bridge and sees Ai and Rosie.
Margie: Hello, Ai! I'm a little stuck down here. Could you please pull me out?
Sora and the girls went down to the river to get Margie out of the water.
Margie: Thank you, Ai, Rosie, and new boy. While I was floating around, it seems like something's gone missing.
Rosie checks Margie's pocket and notices something.
Rosie: Why, Margie's notebook has gone missing!
Margie: Is that what's missing?
She then checks her pocket to find out. She was shocked.
Margie: Oh no! I've lost my notebook again! It's not much of a notebook, but I'm attached to it!
Sora: You remind me of the donkey with a tail that always falls off.
Margie: Would you guys search for it? Please?
Ai: Sora, let's look for Margie's notebook.
Sora: Yeah, but this place is pretty big. How can we possibly find it?
?: Perhaps a better view could help.
Sora turns to see Tortimer with Yu and Tom Nook.
Sora: Sir, is there anyway we can get a better view?
Tortimer: Yes, but I can't help you from there. My eyes aren't what they used to be. Too much reading. I can offer good advise. Of course you don't have to if you don't want to.
Sora: I'd never give up! She's a friend, so she shouldn't be like this!
Tortimer: Such a nice boy. Now meet me at the swing over there by that tree.
He points to the tree with a swing on the hill.
Tortimer: I realize you can't fit on it, but Ai should do just fine.
Sora and Ai walks over to the tree with the swing. After they arrived there, Ai went on the swing and Tortimer walks up to the hill a bit tired.
Tortimer: Whew! I'm even slower than I use to be. Now then, prepare to swing Ai. Put your hand near the edge of either side, depending on if your left handed or right handed.
Sora walks over to where he could put his right hand on the swing.
Tortimer: Now try not to push too hard or too soft.
Sora pushed, trying not to use his full strength. Ai went half way up and half way back.
Tortimer: Good. Now as she comes back towards you, try to keep pushing to make her go higher and higher. I may not see as far, but I have a good sense of timing. Just watch for my cane to rise. That's when you push again. Soon enough, Ai will be sent flying.
Sora nods. He pushed the swing and Ai went up into the air. As she came back, Tortimer raised his cane, giving Sora the cue to push the swing again. Sora kept doing this a few more times when Ai went flying off the swing and into the air. She soon lands on top of a pile of sticks. Everyone ran to Ai's help as fast as they could. As Sora looks down, he could see a green notebook.
Margie: Hey, that's my notebook.
Sora picks up the notebook and gave it to Margie.
Margie: Thanks, everyone. It's not much of a notebook, but it's mine.
Ai: I wish we could restore Animal Village back to the way it was too.
As Sora walks around the Animal Village, he found a crystal which upgrades his Stop to Stopra. He came to a forest area where there are cut logs all over the place. Sora saw Yu and a brown alligator with a red shirt. The shirt has a white circle with a red M on it. Yu and the alligator are bouncing on a wooden seesaw.
Yu: Hiya, Sora! Welcome to my favorite hopping spot! We can hop around here all day!
Alligator: Nothing beats hopping.
Yu: You wanna hop too? It's alot of fun!
Sora: I guess.
He made an upset look.
Alligator: What's wrong, Sora?
Sora: It's nothing. I'm just a little sad right now.
Yu: I wish I had an idea to help make you feel better, Sora.
Alligator: Yu, are you pondering what I'm pondering?
Yu: I think so, Alfonso.
He then hears Sora laughing at the response.
Yu: What's so funny?
Sora: Nothing. That reminds me of a show I used to watch on T.V. One is a genius, the other's insane. What do you have in mind?
Yu: We would like you to play with us. It might make you feel better.
Sora: OK.
Alfonso: Then play "Follow the Leader" with us.
?: To hop with the finest, you'll need some pointers from the finest.
Tortimer shows up, ready to give some advice.
Alfonso: But Tortimer, you don't hop around like we do.
Tortimer: You're right, son. Even I can't master everything. I'll be around if you need me, Sora.
The old turtle walks off to the side.
Yu: Follow me.
He jumps off the seesaw and onto the cut log. Alfonso follows him as well as Sora.
Yu: Here's a little warm up.
Yu and Alfonso jumps on a series of cut logs and up to the cliff. Sora follows the same pattern of logs the boys jumped. They went back to the same cut log at the beginning.
Yu: Now it gets tricky.
The boys jumped on a trickier path which Sora follows. They went back to the first cut log.
Yu: You're doing great! This'll be the last one.
Alfonso jumps over to one end of the seesaw while Yu jumps on the other end. The two boys jumped on the opposite ends of the seesaw until Yu was launched up the tree. He jumps down from the branch and jumps on a path of cut logs. Sora jumps on the seesaw where Alfonso launches him to the tree branch, then jumps down the branch and onto the same path that Yu has traveled through. They went back to the same cut log.
Yu: You've gotten really good at hopping, Sora.
Alfonso: Yu, I think he's ready for the big one.
Yu: There's only one way to find out.
Yu went inside a giant pot on one of the cut logs.
Yu: In this game, I'll throw nuts out of the pot. You must send nuts back and break the pot.
Yu starts throwing nuts at Sora who knocks back the nuts at the giant pot. He did this at least 20 times until the pot breaks and Yu hops out of it.
Yu: Wow, you're really good, Sora!
Sora: Thanks!
Alfonso: Wanna play again?
Sora: I would, but I have a mission to complete. Maybe we can play again some other time.
Yu & Alfonso: Yay! That'd be fun!
Sora: Well, see ya later!
He waves good-bye to the boys and was ready to leave the area until he was stopped by Tortimer.
Tortimer: Hello, Sora. You only have one more page to go.
Sora: Only one more?
Tortimer: Yes. Once you complete it, you will be done here.
Sora: OK. Thanks.
Sora left the area and walks around the Animal Village. He came to a muddy area with a giant bush in the middle. He could see Ai walking around the muddy path.
Sora: Ai, what are you-
Ai: Shh, be quiet. If you talk too loud, they'll go away.
Sora: Who might get away?
Ai: The people that took my friends. See those footprints in the mud?
Sora looks down to notice the footprints in the mud that went around in a circle. Based on their size, Sora knew right away those were the footprints of Ai.
Ai: We were all sticking together to make sure no one gets lost again. But then I saw some footprints that looks like they need following, so I did and when I turned around, everyone was gone. The bad guys must have taken my friends away.
Sora: Actually, I think those footprints look more like...umm...never mind. Don't worry, I'll help you find your friends.
Ai: Thanks, Sora.
Sora began to look around for any sign of Ai's friends. As he walks past a giant bush, he could see someone inside of it. He walks inside and found Margie in the middle of it.
Sora: Margie? What are you doing here?
Margie: Hello, Sora. I'm still looking for my house.
Sora: This place already looks like a house. In fact, this might be a great place to gather the others.
?: HELP!
Sora and Ai left the bush area and walks around the muddy path to find Alfonso stuck on top of a tree.
Ai: Alfonso? What are you doing up there?
Alfonso: I tried hopping as high as Yu. I was so busy hopping, I forgot to watch where I was hopping.
Sora: That's OK. Just go wait over to the bush where Margie is.
Alfonso: OK.
Alfonso left to go find Margie in the bush. Sora and Ai continues their quest to find the others. They walked over to a small cave area where they found Tom Nook.
Ai: Tom Nook? What are you doing in there?
Tom Nook: Tortimer looks so intent on something. I just had to follow him, but then Tortimer disappears and here I was all by myself.
Sora: Look, we'll find him. Just go back to the bush and wait there.
Tom Nook ran to the bush. Sora and Ai continues their search for the others. They jumped on a well which sends them up a small cliff. They found Yu hopping around a log.
Ai: Yu? What are you doing there?
Yu: Ai! I saw you walking away, so I hopped after you. Then I hopped too high and I lost sight of you.
Sora: Just head back to that bush over there and wait for us.
Yu nods and left as Sora and Ai keeps looking around. They walked over the log which leads to another cliff. There, they found Tortimer.
Ai: Tortimer? What are you doing here?
Tortimer: I came around to have a word with Alfonso about his hopping. The next thing I know, I was lost too.
Sora: Well, anyway, you head back to the bush and wait for us. We'll be back soon.
Tortimer went back to the bush as Sora and Ai keeps looking around. They went to the tree with a small hole. Inside the hole, they could hear Rosie whimpering. Ai went inside to greet her friend.
Ai: Hello, Rosie.
Rosie: Ai, where are we?
Ai: I don't know where we are either, Rosie. But if we go back the way we came, we should find our ways home. Come on, Let's get outta here.
Sora and Ai left the area and Rosie follows. They made their way to the bush where everyone was waiting for them. Rosie ran over to her friends and began to hug them.
Ai: We gathered everyone. Thanks for finding my friends, Sora.
Sora: No problem. Glad to help.
Ai: Come with us. We wanna show you something amazing.
Sora: Amazing? What is it?
Ai: Just come along!
She pulls Sora along. Night came very quickly and stars lit up the skies. The full moon was shining down on the gang, as they were all sitting on top of a hill.
Rosie: I'm so glad we're all together again. But I was so scared when I'm all alone.
Yu had his ninja hood off, revealing that he has brown hair.
Yu: Rosie, you gotta be brave like me.
Rosie: You weren't scared at all?
Yu: Of course not! I'm afraid of nothing. I can handle being alone. But I do admit, having friends around is great too.
While everyone was watching the sky, Ai is thinking.
Ai: Think, think, think.
Sora turns to Ai.
Sora: Ai, what are you thinking about now?
Ai: I'm just thinking about what to think about.
Sora: Well, I'm off.
He stood up and starts leaving.
Rosie: Sora, where are you going?
Sora: I'm gonna go look for my friends. They're waiting for me.
Yu: Be sure to come back again.
Rosie: I hope you find your friends.
Sora: Me too. See you all later!
He then walks away. Before he leaves, he waves back to everyone.
Ai: Sora, don't forget...We shall always be here. If you'd like to visit again, that is.
As Sora walks away, he disappears. The gang watches a shooting star from the sky. As the book closed, it shows a cover called Animal Crossing with Sora and the Animal Village gang together. The Keyhole on the book then disappears. Back outside the book, Plucky, Dizzy, Mumbo, and Wumba are playing poker.
Plucky: I'm just about to win! I sure am glad that extra job at being a card dealer pays off.
He could see his pot of gold coins he has been wagering. It was very big and almost the size of the ceiling while everyone else's weren't very big at all. Dizzy was sweating nervously as he looks at his hand. Gaining a confident look, Mumbo shoves his gold coins onto the middle of the table.
Mumbo: Mumbo go all in!
Plucky: Then I'll go in as well! Let's see those babies!
He did the same thing as Mumbo. Mumbo laughs as he slams his cards onto the table, revealing a full house.
Mumbo: Har! Har! Har! Mumbo have good hand this time. A full house!
Plucky: That was a good show. I especially liked the guy who did the impressions. But there was too many hugs and lessons to be learned.
He then notices everyone looking at him funny.
Plucky: Oh right. A full house. So you think you got me beat? Check this out!
He then slams a royal flush onto the table. Everyone gasps in surprise and Mumbo slams his fists onto the table.
Mumbo: That impossible! That twelfth time in row! Duck cheated!
Plucky: What? For your information, I never cheat. I just believe in the heart of the cards, just like Yugi Moto.
As he stood up, extra cards from his shirt fell out and he notices Mumbo giving him a dirty look.
Mumbo: Heart of cards? More like cards in sleeve!
He took out his magic stick. Plucky backs up nervously and chuckles.
Plucky: Umm...can't you take a joke?
Mumbo: Mumbo turn duck into frog!
Plucky: Not again!
Mumbo fires his beam at Plucky which hits him and engulfs him into light. As it dims, Plucky is now a small green frog.
Mumbo: Har! Har! Har! Joke on duck now!
Everybody laughs at Plucky's misery.
Plucky: Change me back now!
He then notices a fly. It was flying around the room and he was keeping his eyes on it. He jumps onto a bookshelf, stuck his tongue out, and ate it.
Plucky: No! I don't wanna eat flies! I'm sorry! Please!
Wumba: Mumbo, you have fun, so change duck back.
Mumbo nods and changes Plucky back into his normal state. He was on top of the bookshelf and he fell off and lands on his head.
Plucky: OW! I guess I learned my lesson for today.
Suddenly, a flash of light brightens the entire room and the four gasps. As they turned around, they saw that Sora come out of the book and lands on the ground. Dizzy ran up to Sora and hugs him.
Dizzy: Dizzy miss Sora!
Plucky: Are you OK, kid? We were worried sick.
Sora: I'm OK. That book was another world. While I was in there, I found another Summon Gem.
Wumba: Wumba take look.
Sora hands the Element of Magic to Wumba who looks.
Wumba: Another little one needs help. Stand back and prepare to receive power!
She then chants something weird and taps the Summon Gem.
Sora: Now let's find out who's inside this thing.
Sora uses the gem and out came a purple unicorn pony with a dark purple mane and tail, a pink streak on her mane and tail, and a mark on the side of her rump with a six-point pink star.
Pony: Where am I? I was preparing for a wedding in Canterlot when those black creatures attacked me.
Plucky: A pony? I was expecting a powerful wizard and all I see was a pony who looks very anime-ish!
Plucky laughs really hard again. The pony then fires a small magic beam at him, shooting his beak off.
Plucky's beak: I should learn to keep my mouth shut.
Sora: That was incredible! Who are you?
Pony: Me? I'm Twilight Sparkle, but you can call me Twilight.
Sora: Pleased to meet you, Twilight. I'm Sora.
Plucky's beak: I'm Plucky Duck.
Dizzy: And me Dizzy Devil.
Twilight: So what happened to my world?
Sora: Your world was destroyed by the black creatures known as the Heartless. Your heart was strong enough to survive the attack and you were placed in a Summon Gem. Your magic could be very useful in our journey.
Twilight: Thanks, Sora. I shall take my leave and return when I'm needed.
She returns to her Summon Gem. Mumbo walks over to Sora.
Mumbo: Here, take this Keychain. It called Spellbinder. It will increase your magic power.
Sora: Thanks. I'll be sure to use it.
Sora and the gang said good-bye to Mumbo and Wumba and left the house. They went all the way back to the First District and found Cid sleeping on a counter behind the Accessory Shop. His chair was leaned back against a wall and he has his feet on his desk.
Sora: Hey, Cid. Are you awake yet?
Cid then woke up and got very grumpy.
Cid: GO AWAY, YOU NOISY NEIGHBOR KID! I DON'T WANT A SELF-HELP BOOK!
Sora cowers behind Plucky and shook in fear.
Plucky: Calm down, Cid. It's only us.
Cid: Oh, sorry. I overslept again. I'm usually cranky when I don't get my regular sleep. I wonder how long I've been asleep for. Do you kids have the time?
Plucky looks at his watch.
Plucky: It's a quarter passed five.
Cid: WHAT? I'VE BEEN ASLEEP FOR 18 HOURS?
Now Plucky cowers behind Sora.
Sora: Calm down, Cid! Dang, you make Grumpy from Snow White look really bad.
Cid: Sorry. Tough day.
Sora: Well, anyway, we came here because-
Cid: Let me guess, you brought me another Navigation Gummi.
Dizzy: How did Cid know?
Cid: Because I'm psychic. OK, I'll install it for you. It may take an hour, so why don't you guys get somethin to eat?
Dizzy: Dizzy wanna eat!
Dizzy ran to a nearby restaurant and Sora and Plucky follows him. It was an Italian restaurant and the trio orders their food. Sora was having Carbonara Spaghetti, Plucky was having Chicken Parmigiana, and Dizzy was having Lasagna. Sora was not eating his food for a moment and was sitting there, looking depressed. Plucky notices this and stops eating.
Plucky: Hey, kid. If you don't like your food, give to Mr. Garbage Disposal here.
Dizzy: Yeah, Dizzy eat it all up.
Plucky: You're upset again, aren't you?
Dizzy: Does Sora remember what Plucky said? No frowning and no sad faces.
Sora: You guys always seem so cheerful. Aren't you worried about Buster at all? We haven't found him yet.
Plucky: We're not worried at all.
Dizzy: Buster told Plucky and Dizzy to find key wielder, and we found Sora. As long as we stick together, we be fine.
Plucky: He's right, kid. As they say in that Disney movie, Hakuna Matata.
Dizzy: Sora need to believe in self.
Sora: Believe? Is that what I need to do?
Plucky: Just close your eyes and try to find that one thing close to your heart. Then you'll understand that the most important thing you need to do is believe in yourself.
Sora: I'll give it a try.
Sora then closed his eyes and think. For a moment nothing happened, but then he hears a familiar voice.
I believe in you.
Suddenly, Sora was flying through an endless tunnel and at the end of it was a light. He thought he could feel Kairi, so he trusted where the light was taking him and it consumes him. Seconds later, the light dims and he looks at the new area. He was in a strange library and it looks like it has long windows, sort of like a chapel.
Sora: Where am I?
He saw an old woman sitting in a rocking chair. She had white hair which was in a bun, wore an apron, and a blue shirt. He then saw a little girl with red hair, a white sleeveless shirt, and a purple skirt.
Girl: Grandma! Can you tell a story now? I've been wanting to hear it for weeks!
Grandma: All right, child. I'll tell you a tale of light and darkness. Long ago, people lived in peace, bathed in the warmth of light. Everyone loved the light. It kept them safe from darkness and it brought good fortune. It was a happy time.
She then made a glum look.
Grandma: But then people began to fight over it. They wanted to keep it for themselves. It broke out in wars and many people got hurt. This was a result because their hearts gave birth to darkness.
Girl: Darkness? Why would people do that?
Grandma: Greed and power, my young child. The darkness spread, swallowing the light and many people's hearts. It covered everything, and the world disappeared.
Girl:(Crying)Grandma, I don't wanna disappear!
Grandma: It's OK, little one. Not all was lost, because a small fragment of light survived...in the hearts of children.
Girl: Children like me?
Grandma: That's right. With these fragments of light, children rebuilt the lost world. It's the world we live in now. But the true light sleeps, deep within the darkness. That's why the worlds are still scattered, divided from each other.
Girl: Can I see the light?
Grandma: Of course. You just need to look inside of your heart. But someday, a door to the innermost darkness will open, and the true light will return. So listen, child. Even in the deepest darkness, there will always be a light to guide you. Believe in the light, and the darkness will never defeat you. Your heart will shine with it's power and push the darkness away. Do you understand, Kairi?
Kairi: Yes, grandma.
Grandma: Now run along and play, darling.
Young Kairi got up and starts to run off. Sora saw her running towards him.
Sora: Kairi!
As she got close to him, he could see a bright flash before his eyes and could feel his soul returning to his body. He opens his eyes and saw Plucky and Dizzy looking at him funny. He then notices that both of them have finished eating.
Plucky: Kid, when I said close your eyes, I didn't mean fall asleep.
Sora: Sorry. I was just...never mind.
Plucky: Then hurry up and eat before Dizzy eats your food.
Sora quickly finishes his food. After paying the bill, the trio heads back to where Cid was waiting for them.
Cid: What took ya so long? Yer 20 minutes late!
Plucky: Sorry. Somebody's a really slow eater.
Cid: Well, anyway, I finished installin the Navigation Gummi for you. Just Be careful, that place is overrun by Heartless. Don't say I didn't warn you.
Sora: Thanks for the warning, gramps.
Cid: IT'S CID! DON'T YOU GIVE ME ANY SARCASM, OR I'LL KICK YER BEHINDS TO THE END OF THE WORLD!
The trio gulps and backs away.
Sora: OK, we'll be leaving now.
The trio left and returns to the Gummi Ship.
Sweetie: Sora, the new world is east from West City. It will take us 30 minutes to get their.
Sora: Well, then let's warp back to West City. We'll go to this new world.
The Gummi Ship warps to West City and then travels eastward from their.
That's it for chapter 37. Next time, Sora and the gang will enter a new world.
