"Daph, are you up?" Astoria asked, still staring at the ceiling.
"No," her sister replied from her bed.
Astoria turned on her side and rested her head on her hands. "I need to tell you something, but you have to promise not to tell anybody."
"Tori, your secret is safe with my indifference."
Astoria rolled her eyes, but continued anyway. "I went out with Draco Malfoy last night."
"You what?" Daphne's voice went up.
"Keep your voice down! You're going to wake up the whole building," Astoria hissed. "Not so indifferent anymore, are you?"
"Oh, wipe that smirk off your face," Daphne threw a pillow at her.
Daphne and Astoria liked to have sleepovers at least once every two weeks, either at Daphne's house or Astoria's. They cooked dinner together, drank wine on the carpet and talked about their lives. Astoria had rehearsed telling her sister about Draco all day, but every time she tried, she ended up saying something else. Now, there was no turning back.
"Are you going to tell me or what?" Daphne pressed.
"Yes, I am. So, I was at the Leaky Cauldron giving Hannah a hand a few days ago. It was crowded and she needed someone to help her serve the VIP booths. One of them was occupied by your former colleagues and friends. Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zabini, Theodore Nott, and, of course, Draco Malfoy."
"Oh, I remember that. They invited me, but I had a lot of work that night."
"Anyway, I served them all night, until Pansy finally recognized me. I mean, it's only been four years, I can't have changed that much."
"It's Pansy. She's not the best with faces," Daphne explained dismissively. "And then what?"
"Well, then she invited me to sit with them. I said I couldn't, because I was helping Hannah. They all basically hung out there until closing time. Hannah said I could go, because Nev would help her close the pub, and when I went out, Draco was outside."
"Ugh, disgusting. You're basically glowing, Tori," Daphne mocked her.
"Back off, okay? You've had your fair share of boyfriends. Let me have my moment."
"Fine, but go grab more wine. I want to hear every single detail, and I don't think I can do this sober."
Astoria left to get more wine, and found Daphne sitting down on the mattress she had laid on the floor for Astoria to sleep on. As Astoria kept telling Daphne about her date, she noticed how much she didn't want it to be just a moment. She wanted it to be whole life.
