Peter came home from Tony's funereal with tears in his eyes. He wasn't expecting much at his house. He was offered to stay at Tony's cabin for a couple of days but denied.
He was in his room on his bed crying. All he wanted to do was cry, or find a way to bring him back. It was impossible but that was all he wanted. He said goodbye but didn't want that to be it. There was still so much he wanted to do with him. He wanted to work in the lab with Tony's lab. He wanted to have Tony comfort him after a nightmare. He wanted to spend time together, to get to know each other. He just wanted a father figure but, the chance of that happening was gone.
He heard a beep from his phone. He looked at it and saw a voicemail from an unknown number. He didn't hear his phone ring but he listened to it anyway.
"Pete, it's me." It was Tony. It sounded like he was running. "I know today has been rough but I need you to listen to me. I'm okay, you're okay. I need to..." It stopped there. It was static.
"No no no!" Peter begged for it to finish but it stopped. The voice mail stopped. "He's ok. He's ok! He can come back." Hope filled Peter but not for long.
