Chapter 4

I bet she's awake now, Cyrus thought as he was driving home from the police station. He laughed. The expression on Kevin's face as he was handcuffed and waiting to make his phone call was priceless .Getting Collins to punch him was unexpected but it worked out perfectly. It was 9 pm; he doubted that Collins would make bail tonight. Oh sure, someone would bail him out, probably his ex-wife Lucy Coe. He had done his research. He knew what kind of woman Lucy was and how she was desperate to stay in Kevin's life. Then his thoughts turned back to Laura. He smiled. Just thinking about her was turning him on but there was a time to act on that. He suddenly had an idea. He would stop and get her a present.

…..

Lucy Coe was humming to her herself. She was thinking about the success she had with Deception and the model Sasha. Her phone suddenly rang. It was the Port Charles Police Department. Now who could that be? She wondered.

"Hello?" she asked curiously.

"Lucy? It's Kevin. I need your help." Kevin replied from the other end.

"Doc? What in the world?"
"Look, I'm sorry to ask this, but can you bail me out?"

"What are you in for?" Lucy asked, concerned.

"I punched Cyrus Renault. I think he has Laura somewhere." Kevin said.

"What?! Oh my goodness, Doc. I'll be right down!" She hung up and then grabbed her purse as she headed out the door.

…..

Cyrus pulled up to his house and shut off his car. He grabbed the package that was on the other seat and smiled. Yes, she'll like this, he thought to himself with a grin. He stepped out of the car and went into the house. It was quiet, but he expected that. He paused at the cupboard for a second. Wait, what am I doing? This isn't right. He was second guessing himself, having an attack of conscience. But as quickly as that thought came to him, it disappeared. No, this is the only way. He moved the cupboard to the door to the secret passage and entered. He walked the hallway to the door and paused. He opened the door slowly and gasped. Adam and Boggs were gone. But Laura was still sleeping. He hoped the chloroform they had used was not too powerful and didn't keep her asleep for too long. He put the gift, a box of chocolates in a heart-shaped box, on the table. Laura moaned in her sleep. He sat down on the bed next to her and stroked her face. He closed his eyes. She was so beautiful.

I appreciate your commitment to getting justice on my behalf in the unfortunate event that it should become necessary.

Well, you could save me the work. And save your life too, and just leave.

Oh I couldn't possibly leave now. It would look like I'm running. I'd lose respect, not only from my business associates, but I'd lose yours as well.

You don't have my respect and you never will.

We'll see.

Cyrus smirked. She was so feisty. But that's what he loved about her. Before he could help himself, he leaned down and kissed her gently on the lips.

"Kevin," she whispered with her eyes closed "How long have I been sleeping?" She opened her eyes and couldn't believe what she was seeing. Cyrus Renault was staring back at her.

"You!" she exclaimed. "Where am I? What are you doing here?" She tried to get up and realized she was handcuffed to the bed. She looked at him with fear in her eyes.
