"Guys I'm serious I saw her covered in bruises and crying. I didn't even know she had emotions." Jay says exasperatedly. Why don't they believe me? I've always been honest with them.
"Jay listen to yourself. Your saying that the toughest and meanest teen on the isle not only got her ass handed to her but also was crying all alone? You have to admit that sounds absolutely insane. That's not even counting how you are claiming that she was wearing a halter top to let you see all this." Mal says.
"What did the markings look like?" Evie asks, curious regardless of whether or not she actually believes that this person she had come to fear had anything wrong in her life.
"I couldn't get a closer look but they looked like the old runes on the big gnarl tree we used to play on." Jay responds hoping that maybe Evie believes him.
"If you're so worried you should ask her some time. If it really is something maybe she needs someone to talk to." Carlos says genuinely. She isn't that bad. She never fights the rest of us, just Jay and half of the time she gives him advice that actually helps him the next time he fights.
The following morning the teens all get into the limo in silence. Jay and Carlos are the first to notice a large amount of candy displayed for them which sends four of the five of them to grab at least something. Gale just looks at it and proceeds to stare outside having taken the window seat from Mal. She tunes out the others and tries not to think of the night before determined not to show signs of weakness. I kinda wish I was able to get something to eat. I'll get something later.
She drums her fingers on her lap but seconds after starting the four to her left begin to scream. She's still trying to ignore their screams as she still stares out the window, noticing the end of the road. Excellent plan, Gale muses, kill off some villain kids to teach the islanders not to mess with the King. Gale is silent as she prepares for the car to fall.
The car never fell however. Just as they were about to fall a golden bridge appears. Gale winces and leans a bit more forward. What the hell? I never get headaches. Why does my back hurt? What is going on? Gale breathes deeply and slowly hoping that will help the pain subside, and subconsciously her hand goes toward her bag. If I could just have a little… no I can't… they're here
"Are you okay?" Carlos asks much to Jay's relief.
"I'm fine." She sits up straighter, and returns to looking out the window, no matter how much pain she was in.
"Free… At… Last…"
Gales brow furrows at the strange whisper. Who was that?
By the time they arrive at the school Gale is ready to pass out from the pain that has yet to subside. I can NOT be weak. I'll rest later. While everyone else gets out of the limo and steps away the boys start fighting over a towel. Don't they realize they can have all of the stupid towels they want once we take over Auridon? They are such children.
"Enough!" Gale shouts at them gesturing with her hands. Crimson light flies towards them and sends the boys flying apart. Shocked at what she just did she grabs her bag of clothes and turns away. I need to lie down. When three figures approach she briskly walks up to them.
"Show me where I will be staying." Gales tone is distant but her face is notably paler than normal.
"Oh of course. Are you feeling alright? Audrey honey, would you take her to her dorm?"
"Of course ma'am. Right this way." Audrey says with a hint of irritation. Gale quietly follows and after a while they arrive at a door.
"This is you and the other villain girls dorm so have fun." Audrey says walking off. Gale opens the door and is surprised at all the furniture in the room. This is for us? Part of this is for me? Why would they do that?
"This… place… will do… for now…" The whisper says again leaving gale more confused than ever. I have no damn clue who you are but I swear I will get rid of you.
~with the others~
The four friends congregate in the boy's room. Mal and Evie sit on one bed and Carlos lounges on the other. Jay stands constantly shifting his weight contemplating.
"Okay I'm just gonna say what's on everyone's mind. How did she do that?" Carlos says, his relaxed posture covering up his worry.
"Gaston doesn't have a magic bone in his body so it would have to be because her mother… but that opens up another question…" Jay says. Strange marks and magic powers? That's concerning.
"Who is her mother?" Mal says picking up where he left off.
"Gaston has always refused to talk about it. Do you think she at least knows?" Carlos responds.
"It's not like she knows much, so probably not." Jay says in a spiteful tone.
"We can solve this after we have the wand." Mal says getting the conversation to take a productive turn.
~later~
Mal and Evie walk into their room for the first time and find Gale sleeping on the floor. They look at each other confused silently searching for the reason she isn't laying in a bed. Simultaneously they shrug and cautiously approach the sleeping teen.
"Gale. We know where the wand is." Mal says, a calm tone covering up her nervousness at being around a teen so prone to violent outbursts.
Gale sits up eyes wide open as if she wasn't even sleeping in the first place. The sooner we get the wand the sooner I can get rid of this bonus voice in my head. Besides…. getting the wand will make father happy. Maybe he will be proud of me for once? Gale thinks to herself and follows the other girls out of the room. Soon enough they all meet up outside the museum.
"How are we going to get in?" Carlos asks, breaking the silence. Most of the assembled teens freeze at the realization they have no idea as to how to get inside. Gale merely pauses for a moment before walking off raising her right hand and beckoning the others to follow.
"Follow me." Gale says coldly and leads them to the amazingly under guarded back door. They peer through the glass and notice a guard.
"What do we do about him? Or the other guards?" Evie asks quietly.
"Gale you should try your magic. That could probably work." Carlos says surprising the whole group. Gale nods and focuses her magic making a crimson needle of energy. Once the magic is stable she points it at the guard and sends it forward. When the magic strikes the guard he collapses like a sack of potatoes.
"Dude! He's dead." Carlos shouts.
"I'm pretty sure he's just asleep. That was the goal anyway." Gale calmly responds. I hope I didn't kill him… Stop caring Gale. No one matters.
"Good girl. That's the right mentality. No one matters; they are all pawns to be sacrificed to my goals."
You can talk in full sentences now?
"Yes. No thanks to you. Now retrieve me that wand. I want out."
You're just a voice in my head. You aren't a real person.
While Gale is distracted Mal got the door open causing Jay (in his attempt to kick the door open) to land on the ground with an unceremonious thud snapping Gale back into the here and now. The group makes their way into the museum and Gale feels a pull to explore a little. She wanders through the halls until she comes to a room with a man with blue robes locked in battle with a woman with crimson hair and a regal looking black dress. She looks familiar…
"Ah… He may have one the battle but I shall win the war. He thinks I am dead. Only when I end his life will he know he was wrong."
What are you talking about? You are just a voice in my head. You don't exist outside my delusion.
"You really believe that? I birthed an idiot. Oh well I can get rid of you later."
You birthed me? What do you think you are? My mother?
"Mother makes it sound like I care about you. Yes I birthed you but I don't care about you."
Who are you?
"My name is Morgana Le Fey. Soon everyone will know my name."
How do you plan to do anything when you are stuck in my head?
"Soon I will dispose of you."
Gale growls quietly and looks around the room until she notices a leather bound book in a glass case. What's that?
"Don't you dare touch that!
Gale smirks and walks up to the case. She notices a small lock at the bottom of the case and puts her hand around it. Okay just focus like earlier and it should… There is a quiet click as the lock came loose. She smirks to herself and she opens the case grabbing the book, the migraine she had since leaving the isle suddenly dissipating. Her moment of peace shatters when the alarm goes off.
Her body reacts before her brain does as she bolts out of there and she takes off down the halls. In her flight from the crime scene the instant she got outside she slam into a solid body. She crashes into the ground and the book is flung into the dirt off to the side. My arm hurts like hell. She realizes that the solid body she crashed into was Jay.
"You ditched us for a BOOK? Gaston would be ashamed." Jay shouts at her too angry to care that she winces at his comment.
"Did you get the wand?" She responds while grabbing the book and clutching it. Father would be ashamed of me wouldn't he? Am I that much of a failure?
"Nope cause this genius decided that he wouldn't think first before he tried to grab the wand that was conveniently out in the open." Mal says frustratedly.
"You have GOT to be kidding me. Now we have to go to school." Gale shouts, covering her sorrow with anger.
