Chapter 2-

It was around six pm when Yasha arrived at the airport in east Germany. The snow in her home country was already packed on the ground for what was expected that time of year. The plane slowly crawled across the runway to a vacant gate to unload its passengers. 'We are now safely secured at the gate and will soon be unloading by section. The time is currently six fifteen pm.' The girl waited as each section of the plane was called forward to pass through the gate. She got up from her seat slipping on her coat and felt around in the overhead compartment finding her carry on. Yasha walked down the walkway between the seats and made it to the front of the plane. The young girl was walking around the terminal following the signs to where the luggage carousel was as she had three other bags to get a hold of before departing the airport. While walking she turned on her phone to find a few new texts and a missed call from her father. Yasha opened her phone and tried to call her father back. "Hello dad." "I'm at the front of the airport." "I'll be with you shortly, I just need to grab my luggage from the conveyor belt. How long have you been waiting here? I told you my last flight was delayed again." "I was already on my way before you texted me." "It's okay dad. I'll be with you in say ten minutes. Hopefully." "See you soon." Her dad hung up on her as she walked up to the conveyor.

Her luggage made its way down the moving belt as it was mixed in with everything else off the plane. Yasha stacked her luggage in a heap leaving the suitcase with metal wheels to drag behind her as she navigated the busy airport. She picked up her pace once her father was in view standing with his large stature in full use. The girl walked up to him and sighed as she set her luggage down on the marble floor engulfing him in a hug. "Hey Yasha." "Hi dad." Her dad was a tall man standing around five foot eleven. He had short dark brown hair and eyes that were a copper brown like molten metal from a forge. "Now come on kid, I haven't seen you since last semester. Let me see you." "Dad, I hardly changed." Yasha protested as she stood at an arms length away. Orcus always insisted that each time they sent her off to boarding school she changed in appearance despite her insistence that she remained the same. She was wearing a thin green flannel shirt with faded jeans and simple brown boots. Her dark hair was now braided over her shoulder and her large tan winter coat was hugging her body to remain warm. "Happy now?" "Not with the tone, but yes. Now were you able to retrieve all of your luggage?" "Yes." "Okay, let's get going. We have an hour long drive back to the cabin." Orcus grabbed his daughters bags as they walked out into the brisk cold.

The two of them threw their coats into the back of her fathers four door pick up along with the luggage. Once the vehicle started, Yasha was rubbing her arms to try to warm up as Orcus fiddled with the heaters since it was fifteen degrees outside. "How was school?" "I had finals two days ago but I won't be seeing any results until a few weeks from now." Orcus grunted in acknowledgement. "If you don't want to chat, we don't have to. I know you aren't really one for making conversation." "Sorry, it's just been a long day. I've had writer's block for a few days now." "It's okay. I can just read while you focus on the road." Yasha reached the back of her chair to grab her backpack in search of her book she started reading in London.

Orcus pulled up to a gas station to fill up the trucks tank as his daughter was still reading in the passengers seat. He tapped a knuckle on the window startling her. "Do you need to use the bathroom here or are you good until we get home?" "I'm fine dad." "Okay, I just need to get the ticket from the cashier." Yasha gave her dad the thumbs up as he locked up the gas cap and walked into the station. A few minutes later they were once again back on the road electing to take the back way to the cabin to avoid any mishaps with other vehicles. After some time, Orcus pulled up to a large cabin to find a light emitting from the living room window. He shut off the vehicle and got out to be greeted by his partner Sif. "Hey honey. How's our girl?" "She fell asleep about halfway home." Sif smiled at her husband and kissed him on the cheek. "The doors unlocked. Why don't you take her things into the house and I'll wake her up." Orcus softly nodded and started to retrieve the suitcases from the back seat. Sif walked over to the passengers side of the truck and gently opened the door. "There's my beautiful valkyrie." "Hey mama." Yasha opened her eyes as she straightened up to a more comfortable position. The older woman helped her daughter out of the vehicle being careful to guide her footing as their driveway managed to gain a few patches of ice. Just as they were walking up the steps Orcus removed the last bag from the truck and locked it up for the night.
