~Human-Like and Open Overlord~ Chapter 1

Introduction: Welp, guess this is my first time writing a story about, well anything , so here goes nothing.

SUMMARY: Momonga or Ainz arrives in the New World alone, with out the Glorious Tomb of Nazarick, along with [The Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown] and a WCI in his stomach in a large grassy plain with buffed up stats, and a good chunk of his humanity intact, though not all of it. Still, he is more "human in mind", you could say, than our original beloved Overlord. He actually cares for the innocent living people and hates the ones doing bad relentlessly. He follows the "Human moral code" that's why he is "Human like" but only for ones he deemed worthy of innocence. Anyone he sees to be not innocent, better have a good reason or they will meet their maker otherwise. Despite being human at heart, albeit not completely, he will not hesitate to kill any bastard that disregards life, he will feel a slight sting to his psyche when he kills people, reminding him that his mind is not completely undead but that's about it. Since he is undead, he still has the emotional suppression passive, but in this fanfic, he is able to cry except it is in the form of negative energy leaking out of his eye sockets like fog and black tears, but any stronger emotions will be suppressed. He also didn't change anything from Albedo's background settings. Anyhow, this is Momonga's interesting adventure in the New World, alone, without his guild base, and he openly acknowledges that he is your friendly undead neighbor next door (Not really, he just acknowledges his undead identity is all). Goodluck reading!

Chapter One: New World and Buffed up

A certain skeleton sat upon the black, majestic throne made of various-extremely valuable materials. The throne of kings, located in the 10th floor of Nazarick, is considered a "World Class Item" and was given to the guild Ainz Ooal Gown as a gift by the developers of the DMMO-RPG YGGDRASIL, or more popularly called and known by the players as the "sh**** devs." This was because they have conquered one of the most difficult dungeons in YGGDRASIL in one go, the Great Tomb of Nazarick, which they later turned into their guild base. Nevertheless, Momonga sat upon his throne reminiscing all the fun memories he had within this place. He had imagined all his friends, the guild members, chatting together, discussing different strategies for raiding dungeons, pranking each other, and generally having fun. He remembered the bickering and sibling arguments of Peroroncino and Bubukuchagama in the guild meeting room , and everyone laughing at and getting pissed-off at the mischevious pranks and works of Luc•fer.

Those were the fun times and the glory days, the high prime of the Ainz Ooal Gown, where everyone was genuinely doing their best in the game whilst having fun. But alas, the hard truth hit Suzuki Satoru's head, it was all going to end in less than a minute because of the official announcement of YGGDRASIL being shutdown due to the various reasons that we all probably know about due to the sheer amount of fanfics, the light novel, and the anime that you probably saw. All his friends have left the game because they chose real life over the imaginary. Suzuki Satoru didn't really have any attachments to real life, he was basically all alone now, with his parents dead, no friends in real life, no lover to take care of, YGGDRASIL is really the thing that keeps him going, and now without it, he thinks he doesn't have a reason to keep living anymore, with all the hard and mentally destroying work that he is subjected into in his daily life, it's hardly a life worth living, as he is considered part of the 97% of trash like the rest of people in the world.

It's the hard, sad, and depressing truth that came crashing down to Momonga, no, Suzuki Satoru's heart, all their hardwork is going to disappear in a few moments and all he could do was stand there and do nothing. As a final farewell, he got the the most prized possession of Ainz Ooal Gown, a testament of all their hardwork, the legendary guild weapon with power on par with WCIs—
[The Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown]. He grabbed the staff one last time and sat upon the throne of kings where he would say goodbye to the place and everyone in it. He waited there and closed his eyes and waited for the timer to hit zero.

'Oh man, I'd really need to hit the bed after this, I have work tomorrow in 4:00 am, dammit' He thought.

[23:59:58]

'Maybe I might as well end my life alongside this game, haha' He said that in a joking tone and let out a very dark and depressing chuckle.

'Huh' he thought. He opened his eyes expecting to see the log out screen and preparing to take off his Dive gear but what he saw next really baffled his braincells and mind, that is if he even has a brain which I doubt he has in his Overlord form.

He was standing in the middle of grassy plains. Seeing this weirdly beautiful sight, he stares in awe of the sheer beauty of this world. The non-polluted skies, no light pollution, no skyscrapers and no such horrible trash filled wasteland that is his homeland. The gentle and strong trees swaying about the green canopies of the forest and the lushous and lively grass of the plains. He was in shock and awed but quicky shook his head and snapped out of it. He looked around quickly and said in a genuinely confused tone.

"What the hell? Where am I? How'd I get here?" He said to himself out loud. He first thought that the devs maybe lied to them and this is a massive update that they surprised the players with but quicky scratched that because no way can the devs, even in all their amazing shitty glory, really create this extreme level of immersion despite the advancements of Suzuki's era. He can feel the gentle breeze of the wind going through his eye sockets and bony visage. He can also smell a faint relaxing odor from the gentle winds which shocked him even more. He touched the grass and the ground, sensing their textures which feels all too real to be considered a game, so he was confused beyond measure. But suddenly, as he touched the ground and the grass, they immediately turned black and decayed because of his passive skill [Negative Touch]. Sensing that he might accidentally kill living creatures by a mere touch by him, he thought on how to turn off his passive and he felt a surge of power vanishing from his body. This made him immediately realize that something happened and touched the ground again, which to his pleasure, did not wilt and die.

'It seems my passive still works huh' he said in his mind while patting off his extremely luxurious robes.

He tried reaching out in the air and pressing for his console, but it didn't show up and it was like this for a few minutes. Momonga was baffled of the recent events that occured and when he finally calmed down to assess the situation, he tried to use [Message] but he couldn't contact anyone, he tried to call out for the GMs but of course, it was all received by deaf ears. And at this point most of us already know his confusion about his situation and whatnot.

"Alright, alright, let's take in all the things that have transpired right now, since I seem to be in transported in this world along with the body of my avatar, I'd like to test out my abilities and capabilities since I am one of the more experienced and belonged to the middle-upper tiers of the player hierarchies." Momonga mumbles to himself proudly.

He felt weird but oddly familiar with his undead body of an Overlord. He can sort of 'feel' his HP and MP which was quite high since he was a level 100 veteran player. He could remember a lot of magical knowledge and he could feel that he could cast his spells, all 718 of them, from kind of like a mental instinct. So he decided to test it out. "Alright, so let's see what I can do, actually, I'll check out my stats first, [Status Check]."

The maximum amount of spells a level 100 player could learn was 300. However, Ainz used his special ability "Dark Wisdom" to learn and memorize 718 different spells. Even those spells he had not learned could still become a weapon to read his opponents' strengths, once Momonga knew of them. As part of Ainz Ooal Gown, he was easily ranked in the top five amongst his guild members when it came to magical knowledge. But then he noticed something different.

'WHAT THE HELL?! WHY AM I LEVEL 110?! HOW'D I SURPASS THE LEVEL CAP? Wait a second, that's not right, why do I have these two unfamiliar job classes too!?' he thought as he saw something out of place.

He had two new types of Job Classes-"Absolute Necromancer" and "Master of Life", both of which are level 10. He was curious as to how and why he had these new Job classes (A/N: Because of some probably-will-not-be-mentioned-in-the-story Random Omnipotent Being, and also because "The Author said so" and threw a bunch of half-assed plotlines. Also because he's a terrible writer. Anyways, back to the story).

He read upon the new Job classes and what he discovered was very useful. Absolute Necromancer allowed him to summon more undead than usual, but of course, he still had a limit that would eventually reset daily. The most broken thing of all is he could now summon very high-tier undead and creatures with no need of expending experience points and his undead, when given a corpse as material, will remain standing and not being dispelled unless destroyed. Of course, to permanently summon mid-tier and above undead, he needed a corpse for them to materialize on. He could summon the high tier undead like Grim Reaper Thanatos and Overlord Wiseman which are both extremely formidable opponents by themselves and could take on average level 100 players with a slight disparity of power levels and skills. He can still summon other high tier undead like the Doom Lord.

But the catch is, increased Mana consumption when summoning undead. Summoning mid-tier undead will consume twice the amount of Mana than usual and summoning High-tier, more specifically level 90 above, undead will take out 1/8 of his mana pool, regardless of size.

His new job class, "Master of Life", allowed him to use more healing and vitality spells like [Mass Heal] and [Absolute Cleanse].

(Note: Ainz has more Super Tier spells in his arsenal which are totally fictional and my own creation)

Although Momonga does have wands of ressurection, the only problem was, it was a limited resource that he doesn't want to expend carelessly. This job class allows him to have the spells [Raise dead], [Mass Ressurection], and [True Ressurection] and because of the job class, it reduces ressurection and healing spells MP consumption by 50%, which is a very huge advantage. It also decreases the cooldown of spells like that into 20% which is not ridiculously broken, but a commendable improvement.

He also had earned some druidic spells like [Gaia's Restoration] and [Call of Nature], and also a new barrage of healing spells such as [Heal], [Mass heal], and [Absolute Healing Authority].

Of course there was a downside to this outright broken power, he can only use 10 of them, every 120 hours before it gets refilled, which was alright.

Momonga was really confused and in awe of the things that has happened today and he wanted to test his skills. "Alrighty, since my spells are literally engrained into my consciousness, I think I'd like to test out my spells and see how they would fair in this world. So umm, how about... Ahaa! [Napalm]!" As he said the 7th tier spell, the place where he pointed his bony finger on, which is a part of the grassy plains, were quickly engulfed in a huge tower of flames.

"Wow, that was really effecti-" as he was about to say that, the fire burned a good chunk of the plains and the fire started spreading. He quickly realizes his mistake and due to his somewhat rushing state, he summoned, using the [Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown], a Primal Water Elemental and immediately ordered it to extinguish the ensuing fire.

"Whew, that situation almost got out of hand very quickly. Alright, gotta clean up this mess now. Hmmm... How about I try one of my new spells from my new job class 'Master of Life'. [Gaia's Restoration]!"

As he invoked the name of his newly acquired 10th tier spell, the ground immediately burst forth with lushous greenery and a sudden growth of trees and various plant life grew in the area simultaneously while covering up the charred aftermath of the previous demonstration of destructive power. [Gaia's Restoration] was a Druidic 10th tier AOE healing spell that heals players who are inside the zone of the application, and it creates a tile of nature that slowly regenerated the HP of those inside it. The only downside is it's longer cooldown compared to other healing spells. In Momonga's case however, he used it to, as the saying goes "Heal the land", literally.

"Welp, guess I need to be careful about using my abilities then, I might might accidentally destroy innocent beings, and I don't really want to happen."

Then he suddenly remembered that he summoned the damn Primal Water Elemental, and it was a permanent summon. He faceplamed and was very embarrassed of himself, which triggered his emotional supressor, as he made such a rash decision but nevertheless, what's done is done so he just went on with it. He faced the huge and intimidating monster made of wild, flowing water taking a very huge humanoid shape. 'Crap, I should've just used [Control Weather] to pour rain upon the fires, but I guess the deed is already done and I can't really "unsummon" it' he silently regretted his thoughtless actions.

"Um, Primal Water Elemental, actually you know what, since I can't unsummon you and you are basically a permanent creature, I might as well give you a name."

The Elemental just stared at him for a few seconds then nodded to show his approval. And surprisingly it talked.

"I shall be forever grateful for any name you shall give me, O summoner."

'What?! It can talk?! Well that just changes things a bit. This thing is an actual intelligent creature, so I guess that's alright, anyways I need to give it a name'

"Well then your name shall be,-" 'Ummmmm... how about Flood? Typhoon? No, no, no, Ahah! Tsunami! Yes that's right, it looks like the literal manifestation of a Tsunami if it were alive, able to talk and walk or hover rather, and is also a sentient being.' he thought to himself. "Tsunami! From this day forward Primal Water Elemental, your name shall be TSUNAMI!"

"I am grateful for giving this one a wonderful name, I shall cherish it until the end of my days, O summoner."

'Alright, now this situation's settled, I need to have something to do next in this New World' and after that, Momonga kept exploring, testing his new abilities and what not in his immediate vicinity, of course while being followed by Tsunami.

-•••-

After hours of wandering about the young and untainted-by-technology land that he came upon, he sat on top of a tree stump that seemed to be cut ages ago and thought about stuff for a moment.

He then proceeded to take out a Mirror of Remote Viewing. After minutes of trial and error of controlling the panning of the mirror, he finally got it to work with one of his exaggerated hand gestures.

Tsunami clapped it's hands in celebration of it's Lord's success at maneuvering the mirror.

"Really, is this really something worth congratulating for?" Said the Overlord.

"Of course, as your summon, I am delighted in praising my master no matter how insignificant your accomplishments maybe."

'Wew, way to go destroying my already broken pride, although it was broken by my own stupid actions'

As he panned along the view, he saw some smoke which suggested something was burning. A village with a few burning structures showed up and it looked like it's people was... Running around?

"Hm? What are they doing? Is it a festival?"

"If I may speak my Lord, I do not think that the humans are currently having fun right now and having a festival. Their actions seem, too panicked for any real enjoyment. I suggest we look into their situation thoroughly before we jump to conclusions."

"Umu, I see." He then pans the view down on ground level and what they saw disturbed him a bit. They saw knights slaughtering the villagers, and surprisingly, Momonga felt fairly calm about all that was happening. He felt startled a bit, and he knew very well how wrong the scene in the view was. He reacted with concern for the villagers and hatred for the knights but not in a way a human would. He reacted way more calm than what a human should be experiencing. He wondered if this is the effect of being undead, but deep inside, Momonga felt that he was still partially human. He remembered the phrase that Touch me-san always said. "Helping the weak is common sense!". Though even without remembering that, he would still help them because his human side was compelled to do so. He acted fairly quickly and decided their next move.

"Tsunami, I'll be preparing a gate and directly help them, be ready to cross the portal with me."

"I hear and obey, my Lord."

"Very well, [Gate]." Momonga opened two [Gate]s to their destinations and the two monstrosities stepped through the crack in the fabric of reality.

-•••-

Enri Emmot and her little sister Nemu was running away from the knights helplessly.

But then the unfortunate happened and she tripped on a stray piece of tree root making her land on the ground.

"Well, well, well, little missy, there's no more place to run eh? It's the end of the line for you. Hehehe." The knight said in a disgustingly sadistic tone. Enri used her body to protect Little Nemu as the knight slashed his sword on the back of Enri and left a huge, bleeding gash. She was sure that she would be done for, that she would die. But then, the unexpected came.

A large, violet, crack in reality suddenly opened out of thin air just behind the two helpless children. Just when the knight was about to stab and effectively kill Enri, someone stepped through the Gate. The knight was scared out of his wits on the absurdity of the situation and screamed

"M...M..M-MONSTER?!" The knight screamed while looking at the Divine Class Item Clad bony Overlord.

"Oh? Really?!" The player said in a seemingly mocking and angry tone.
