Chapter 3: The Battle for Carne
-•••-
Sunlight Scripture Camp…
Nigun Grid Luin was very happy of their success of luring the Warrior Captain into their little trap. They were currently doing their assigned mission of executing Gazef Stronoff as per the request of the corrupt nobles. The Theocracy is secretly manipulating the affairs of other human nations for what they saw as the greater good. They mainly agreed because the Theocracy had more to gain from the deal, since killing the highly favored Gazef Stronoff would greatly weaken the military and political power of the king because of the power struggles that the nobles had with him, and the Theocracy can intervene within their political situation take over the country internally to put them in the "right path".
"Just you wait Warrior Captain, Just you wait…" He said to himself as he looked at Gazef's infantry going into their trap.
-•••-
Gazef Stronoff was having one of his bad days, he was pissed. He was loyal to the king because he was basically his second father due to him being taken in by the king at a very young age.
He doesn't have any hate with his job protecting the king of all the threats and dangers that he faces. He doesn't mind that because it's the least he could do to repay him. But for all the praise he gives towards the king, his kingdom doesn't reflect it at all. As a commoner, he was born one of the lowest of the low. It was hard to be a commoner that rose above the ranks because of harsh competition of the power and the corrupt nobles that control the kingdom. He knows very well how people like them get away with their corruption.
He thought it was a very convenient and obvious plot by the nobles. The knights from the "Baharuth Empire" was ravaging the villages and convinced the king to not make him wear the treasures of the kingdom and his sword Razor Edge was left behind. All he had now was a spare and some light armor.
But what has happened right now was beyond his expectations. Who the hell would expect the undead of all things to side with them, and legendary looking ones at that.
"Ehem." Ainz fake coughs which quickly snaps Gazef back to reality.
"Good afternoon Stronoff-sama, my name is Ainz Ooal Gown. I am an undead magic caster that saw the predicament that this village was in so I decided to help." Gazef was so shocked and befuddled at the response of the seven-foot tall, skeletal undead being that stood before him. Before he could say anything the second undead being spoke.
"Good day Mister Stronoff. This one's name is Grim Reaper Thanatos. Thou canst call this one just Thanatos. I am a loyal servant to mine summoner and Lord, the Master of Death, Ainz Ooal Gown-sama." The literal fucking Reaper spoke to him in a deep and ominous voice. As Gazef heard the names and titles that these beings had, he was racking his brains to the point that you could almost see the smoke coming out of his head from processing the information that he just received. He stood there for a while astonished of everything he had heard, while the Vice-Warrior Captain was sweating bullets off because of the two beings.
When the two were lost in thought, Ainz chuckled and laughed momentarily at their confused and funny expressions and spoke to them in a reassuring tone.
"You're probably wondering about everything you've heard now, Stronoff-sama. Well I know it's hard to believe, but I am real. An undead that do not hate the living nor do I wish to do any harm to them. I know, I know you are probably suspicious of me. I mean, who would believe an undead that just barges in their door and tells you that he is a friend, right? Rest assured my intentions are genuine." As he said that, Gazef ever so slightly felt a bit calm but that's about it. He then proceeded to speak with him.
"Nevertheless, I am grateful from the bottom of my heart, Gown-dono for saving them. If you hadn't been here awhile ago, we would've found another dead village. You have my thanks. Also, please refer to me as just Gazef, I am no Lord, I am but a commoner who was elevated in position by the king." Gazef Stronoff sincerely thanked them.
"Oh it's alright Gazef-dono, think nothing of it. After all just like one of my great comrades once said, 'Helping the weak is common sense!'." Ainz said that in a tone that speaks of things that happened a long time ago while looking in the far horizon reminiscing memories. Ainz still called Gazef with that suffix but he just accepted it. As Gazef heard this, his respect for the undead being grew exponentially, but was still cautious if he had any ulterior motives. But he was also shocked at the same time because of what the undead being said having comrades, but he would rather ask him that question some time later. He looked at his legion of soldiers and made a thumbs-up to make them know that the situation is alright, and he turned to Ainz again.
"Alright Gazef-dono, do you want to check out the situation of the village? Oh also if you are wondering where the villagers are, they're in the warehouse. We kept them there because we were not sure of your intentions for coming here, but now that we know, you can stay here with us just before you get to your duties. Oh yes, we've also captured about twenty-three knights that surrendered to us and we were planning give it them to the authorities. If you don't mind, I plan to make one or two of them my subordinates."
"Thank you very much Gown-dono, I would like to check out how the village is holding up. Sure, you can also make some of them your subordinates."
"Oh, I'd be happy to show you around but you may also find several undead that may look... intimidating along the way but worry not, those are just my servants." He said reassuringly. After that, the Warrior Captain and his right hand joined the three figures in touring through the village. And true to what Ainz said, there were indeed undead and abominations passively walking about and doing their duties. One looked like the literal manifestation of brutality, while others were large hulking mountain of corpses with a battle-axe and a large right hand. Others were skeletons with what seemed to be decent enchanted armor and weapons. After walking a bit, they encountered Tsunami, which startled the two and held the hilts of their swords by reflex.
Seeing this, Ainz reassured them and said.
"It's alright, that is another servant of mine. Tsunami! How is your situation with the knights!?"
"Oh, it's you my Lord. They are alright and they are being fed along with villagers fairly." He responded.
"Oh yeah and also, inform the legion of soldiers to settle down and set up camp while they are here, treat them as guests too."
Tsunami just nodded to carry out his orders. The two newcomers just stopped thinking about it anymore, and they just silently followed behind the undead. As they got closer to the warehouse, a little girl probably no more than the age of five, ran up and hugged Ainz fearlessly. Ainz was surprised by this but quickly recognized that the girl was the one that he saved before and put her down gently. The older sister of the girl yelled at her to keep her distance from him and apologized, but he was alright with it and the little girl said.
"Thank you so much for saving us Gown-san! We are forever indebted to you!" The girl said in a cheerful tone. The older girl, assumingly her sister, scolded her for addressing him in an informal way but he said that it didn't bother him.
"It's alright little one, I'm just glad you were safe." He patted her on the head and she gave out a cute giggle.
"Oh yes, I didn't get your names last time, would you mind introducing yourselves?"
"No Gown-san! I am Nemu Emmot and that's my older sister Enri. But our parents sadly didn't make it. Oh I'm sorry for getting you involved our personal matters when you've already done so much for us." The little girl said in a sad tone while tearing up a bit. After hearing this, Ainz remembered his mom who died of being overworked and abused by the powerful megacorporations and he was powerless to do anything about it. He too was sad and furious, which made his emotional suppression kick in, and ever so slightly, shed a small, black tear that he shrugged off. He knelt and grabbed the shoulder of the crying child and responded.
"Oh no, it's alright little Nemu. You have my condolences. I know very well how it feels to lose parents and how hard it is to go through that. But still, try your best to cheer up, little one, I'm sure your parents wouldn't want to see you in this sad state any longer. But of course, I'm not one to dictate one's emotions, so it's okay to let it all out." After he said that, the child cried even more and Ainz knelt and hugged little Nemu and reassured her. He grabbed a handkerchief from his nigh infinite pocket dimension and wiped out the tears in her eyes. He knows he could resurrect them but refrained from doing so. After that, he broke the embrace and they parted ways while waving goodbye.
(Fan Fact: As we all know how much of a hoarder Ainz is, I made him in this fanfic have MORE items in his person. His inventory is a mess and contains thousands upon thousands of items. From trolling items, cosmetics, role-playing items, infinite battery cell phones, cars, to fucking buildings and cameras. Useless trash to legendary items, healing potions, EXP potions, and other shit. He even has the fireworks which the devs gave him as a commemoration for the end of YGGDRASIL which he never got to use. Anyways back to the story.)
The village chief, Gazef, and his Vice Captain silently looked at the exchange of the two beings whose difference in power and significance was probably Heaven and Earth. The two were dazed on how deeply the undead connected emotionally to the child and they noticed him shed a tiny, black tear while hearing the words of the child. They just thought 'What the fuck?' and Gazef even thought if the skull was just a mask and he was actually a human inside. The most surprisingly of all is that this undead being supposedly can care and had parents?! They would absolutely ask him about this later.
"Ehem, sorry everyone for the... Detour that recently happened. Now let us continue with our activities." They complied and went inside the warehouse where they stayed and talked to the inhabitants for a moment. Thanatos just stood still laying his back on the wall and the Vice Captain went back to the soldiers. Then Gazef spoke to Ainz.
"Gown-dono, I am genuinely grateful for your help with this village, but I have some questions for you because you've intrigued my curiosity. Are you really undead?" As Ainz heard this he thought 'What does he mean? I'm clearly undead, unless he sees me with an illusion? No, probably not. I'll just ask him about first.'
"Um, I'm not sure what you mean by that Gazef-dono. As you could clearly see, I am literally made of bones. What made you ask that question, Warrior Captain?"
"It's just, even though your appearance is totally undead, some of your actions, especially earlier, seemed way too human. At first I thought your voice was going to be dark and raspy like the typical Elder Lich, but you sound uncannily human, and act like not of the typical undead. Oh yeah, and the way you talk to that child and shed a tear really made you like a human."
At first Ainz was silent, 'Oh that's what he meant.' but it was broken by the somber voice of the Overlord.
"Ah, I see what you mean. I was... carried away earlier when I talked to her, but think nothing of it. And before I answer your question, do you really think I am a mere Elder Lich?" Gazef looked at Ainz for a second then realized that he was wrong for judging his race taken at face value.
"Oh, I'm sorry if I might have offended you Gown-dono for assuming your race."
"No worries. If you immediately assumed that I was a Lich then it means that my race is not well known in this world. Anyways, my race is of the Undead Overlord race. This means I am an Overlord." Gazef Stronoff made an expression that says 'what's that?'
"Alright, since you are not familiar with my race I'll brief you on about it. Similar to you humans, we undead also have hierarchies. And my race is located at the highest order of undead, meaning in away, we are "commanders" or "rulers", for the undead but that's about it." As he said, Gazef silently gulped inside and realized that this undead he was talking to might be a monarch or a very high ranking person.
"Anyways, your question on why I acted like a human and cared for living beings is because I too was once a mortal."
The Warrior Captain's eyes widened and shrunk again and said.
"So that explains why you said you had parents earlier."
"Please don't ask any further questions about my past and pry deeper." Ainz said in a grim but a bit sorrow tone to which Gazef understood and nodded.
"I'm sorry for your loss." Gazef said respectfully to Ainz.
"Oh it's alright, that was a very, VERY long time ago when I was living. What's important is we move forward and focus our eyes on the present."
'And the Bullshit of the year goes to: Suzuki Satoru!' He made it sound like that so Gazef thinks Ainz was talking about years and years ago, or maybe even millennia for the ageless undead being. But in reality, he just became undead about 16 hours ago, and his Mother died 9 years ago, which is I guess pretty long for humans, and he had to fend for himself after that.
After that, the two were silent for a few moments before it was broken by a knock from a soldier in Gazef's infantry.
"Warrior Captain! I have something to report to yo-" he said out loud but quickly realized that Death was literally conversing with Gazef. He made a nervous gulped and mustered up the courage to speak.
"What's the situation that requires of my attention soldier? Do not worry about him, he is trustworthy." Gazef asked the soldier who suddenly intruded their peaceful conversation.
The soldier had a slightly doubtful expression but regained his composure and spoke in a more practical tone.
"There is an army of mages with angels surrounding us. They number, in my estimation, 2,000 men." As they heard the news, Gazef was shocked, and then quickly realized the situation and calmed down, while Ainz was intrigued. Ainz looked out the window and was surprised to see the Angels from the distance with his enhanced, undead sights. 'Wait a minute, aren't those the level 15 Angel summons, Archangel Flames from YGGDRASIL? Oh I'm so definitely going to ask them about this.'
"Gazef-dono, who do you think are the people that are surrounding the village?"
"The Slane Theocracy probably, no doubt about it. The Baharuth Empire doesn't utilize Angels much, there would be no reason the Roble Holy Kingdom would do this, and the Argland State doesn't really bother much with the kingdom, which makes the Slane Theocracy the most logical culprit. They probably sent one of their scriptures, professionally trained special operatives that work directly under the Cardinals, to deal with their business here."
"Umu, I wonder, is this village really that valuable for them to send out a battalion of mages? Isn't this a little bit, overkill?" Ainz asked Gazef which he replied.
"Ah, I don't think the village is what they're really after." When Ainz heard this, understanding dawned on him that their real target was the Warrior Captain.
"Ah, I see. Apologies, it must be hard always being a person with a target on his back, hmm?"
"Yes, but I deal with it. To think even the Theocracy got in on this. They even said that they are the 'Saviors of Humanity' yet they have no qualms when sacrificing innocent peasants, people, just to kill one person? And their reason is that it is the will of their Gods?! They are such hypocrites, I think the nobles made a deal with the Theocracy in this one since they 'convinced' the king to lessen the resources for my mission, that's why I only have about 50 men." Gazef answered in a furious but controlled tone because Death was in front of him. Ainz nodded in understanding and approval to what he said.
"Gown-dono, I'd like to hire you on helping us exterminate the agresso-" Gazef said but was quickly cut off by the raising of Ainz' hands.
"I'm sorry Mr. Stronoff but I respectfully decline your offer. I do not have enough information on how powerful these Scriptures are so I wouldn't recklessly involve myself in affairs that I am not part of." When Gazef heard this he was sad that he didn't get any help from the him but he understood that he was in no position to say anything to him being a third party who just got here and all and nodded but-
"Please Gown-dono, no, Ainz-sama I beg of you, please protect this village one last time, I know I don't have anything to give right now, but I promise I will-" The Warrior Captain was about to kneel and beg before the Undead King for his assistance but was stopped when he grabbed his shoulder.
"It is alright Gazef-dono, I have protected this village once, and I WILL protect it again. I will personally put the name of Ainz Ooal Gown on the line in protecting this village. You have my word Warrior Captain, Gazef Stronoff." Ainz said reassuring him to which Gazef was very thankful for. After that, Gazef and co. went out to deal with their foes and Ainz wished them luck.
Right after Gazef left, Ainz sat on a chair which he materialized, inside the warehouse with all the villagers in it. He then pulled out an elongated, expensive looking mirror from his pocket dimension and floated it to a large wall for all to see. He then cast the magic [Expand: 85 x 125] on the mirror which, unsurprisingly, increased in size. It grew a height of 85 inches and a length of 125 inches. It looks like one of those massive TV screens but not too big in order to fit on the wall of the warehouse. The mirror glowed and projected an image which was basically the wall behind the mirror. He quickly maneuvered the view to the destination of the battle of Gazef, his men, and the Sunlight Scripture of the Theocracy. Ainz then pulled out two magical speaker's and a [Antenna of Remote Hearing] which looked like some form of enchanted, golden antenna and connected them through magical mana wires in the Mirror so they could hear sound in the battle.
Magical mana wires and other magical machinery were one of the things in YGGDRASIL that allowed players to make their own magical contraptions adding to the versatility and player creation freedom in the game. To compare it to other games for us viewers, they are similar to red stone or command blocks, or scrap mechanic's wiring system.
All the people in the room were in awe at the magical mirror and the strange device that made sound that Ainz produced out of thin air. Ainz broke the silence and pulled out [Bags of Bottomless Popcorns] and several drinks like pitchers of endless fruit juices, water, soft drinks, energy drinks, smoothies, and shakes from his inventory, which were essentially buff items and cosmetics for role-playing purposes back in the game but it became real as he was transported into the New World. Mind you, Ainz carries thousands of useless things and it was a miracle his Dive gear didn't explode from all the data his inventory carried.
"We will be watching the battle here, I have brought some food and drinks from my wo-myself to satiate your hungers and make watching the ensuing battle more comfortable. Now let us wish them luck." The commoners wore bright smiles and felt overwhelming gratitude as he distributed the food and drinks along with cups and bowls of crazy expensive value to the villagers. They then wished for Gazef to win against the Theocracy bastards that harmed them, so they sat, some stood, ate, drank, and watched the unfolding scene before them.
Ainz confirmed his suspicions when he saw the mages of the Theocracy summon and use Archangel Flames to fight against Gazef and his men. What happened next intrigued Ainz of Gazef's next movements. He invoked something like [Martial Arts] and [Haste] and then his body started to glow. He was intrigued of the moves that he did that he did not know of, so he mentally noted to himself that he would ask Gazef about it. Then the next move brightened Ainz's vermillion eyes with curiosity when the Captain said the words [Sixfold Slash of Lights], and 6 red slashes if light manifested from his spare sword, and killed six Archangel Flames simultaneously. Oh yes, he was NOW really curious and his collector's heart burned warmly.
After a good 15 minutes of battling, Gazef was not going to survive any longer at this rate. Warrior's Spirit can only get you so far if you are a mortal. Everyone in the room was sad and had sorrow expressions upon witnessing their human champion bodied by the sheer amount of mages and angels of the Theocracy. Ainz saw this, and stood up, dematerializing his chair and told Thanatos to guard everyone in this village, and capture or incapacitate trespassers. He made a mental command to all his undead summons, like a bunch strings in a web, to tighten security. When the people saw this, the village chief asked Ainz.
"Ainz-dono, wh-where are you going?"
"To battle of course, Gazef-dono may need a bit of assistance after all." He said casually then casted [Greater Teleportation] to the battlefield.
After he left, everyone sighed in relief that their noble hero was getting his overpowered assistance.
-•••-
In the Battlefield...
Gazef Stronoff, the revered strongest human in the kingdom, and the kingdom's Trump card, was panting and almost running out of Life force as he was bleeding heavily when the flame swords thrust into many parts of his torso. With all his remaining strength, he screamed vehemently to the mages.
"NO WAY IN HELL I'M GONNA DIE TO THE LIKES OF YOU, YOU BASTARDS! YOU'D NEED TO KILL ME A THOUSAND TIMES BEFORE I'M THROUGH WITH YOU!"
"And that's exactly why you're going to die, Warrior Captain." Nigun, the captain of the Sunlight Scripture, said in a mocking tone and grinned while the others mages laughed. Everything was going according to plan.
"Not... Good... Losing... Consciousness..." He muttered to himself while coughing blood and close to the hands of Death. Little did he know he was 'literally' close to the hands of Death. He heard footsteps near him and heard a deep, somber but familiar voice.
"[Absolute Healing Authority!], [Cleanse]" The figure invoked.
As he said that, all the wounds and gashes he had from the battle immediately and abruptly healed. He felt a strong life force flowing back to his body and he felt more alive than ever before, you could even say it's the best feeling he has had in years. All his bruises where gone, even scars from several years of training and fighting were all gone! His back felt great and felt even more flexible than before and it was like his youth was given back to him. All the blood he had before has been cleansed from his body as if he never even bled like a few seconds ago.
He opened his once almost dead but now brimming with life eyes and looked at the figure right next to him in shock.
"G-Gown-dono?! What are you doing here?"
The undead spoke.
"It seemed to me that you were in a rock and a hard place, so I came here to help you in your situation. Did you really think I'd leave you here to die? I maybe a heartless undead, but I'm not that heartless." He chuckled at his own, terrible joke, but quickly regained his composure.
"I've already cast [Mass heal] to your remaining soldiers and sent the bodies of your fallen comrades to go back to the village for safety, ku ku ku. You've fought well Captain, I'll take it from here. You can stand by my side and watch. I already cast my defensive spells and my troops in the warehouse so I've got that covered." Gazef let those words sink in, then he nodded, and stood behind Ainz.
"You got some nerve you fools for attacking the village which I personally swore to protect. Alright people of The Slane Theocracy, I will give you three chances of mercy to stand down and surrender peacefully to me. Surrender now!"
Then something like glass shattered in the air. 'Must be divination magic that triggered my countermeasures, it's pretty weak though' The Slane Theocracy soldiers looked at each other and was surprised at the undead. They thought it was just a mask, and he was bluffing. They ignored his warning and sent two Angels to attack him and stabbed him and sighed in relief.
Gazef was worried and also dumbfounded at the scene happening. Ainz looked to him and said.
"Do not worry, Gazef-dono, such small fry are nothing to me."
"See? You were just bluffi-" As Nigun was about to say that, Ainz grabbed the Angels' heads and smashed them to the ground with sheer strength superiority. As they saw this, the mages had horrified and confused expressions. Nigun was now worried so he said to attack him all at once. Gazef on the other hand was in awe with the realization that this bring in front of him was really powerful.
"Collect all Angels, and order them all to attack at onc-" but was quickly cut off when the undead figure said.
"Stop this nonsense bickering, [Negative Burst]." As he said that, a shockwave of Negative Energy and fairly strong winds erupted from his body and destroyed all the low-level Angels and damaged the Principality Observation. That was the time that they realized that this being was legitimately undead and he did not wear a mask. The mages were sweating bullets and even more horrified as they cast all the spells they could think of to kill this undead being.
[Holy Ray!]
[Acid Arrow!]
[Fire Ball!]
[Ice Ball!]
[Magic Arrow]
And more...
As the mages said that, Ainz confirmed another one of his suspicions that these spells were definitely from YGGDRASIL and the ones he was fighting right now was not players. All the mages spells were futile and nullified by Ainz resistances.
"Alright you lot, tell me where'd you learn Tier spells from and who taught you how to summon Angels from YGGDRASIL?! No matter, I'll get my answer later anyway. Now, I'll give you another chance at mercy, surrender now." The mages still refused and Nigun ordered Principality Observation to attack Ainz. It slammed it's mace toward Ainz and expecting him to get crippled, to which he grabbed it with his bare hands and said.
"Pathetic, [Hellflame]." A small, blood red, agonizing flame came from his finger tip and burned the poor Angel with a raging Inferno.
As we all know, the mages get horrified, once again, Ainz tells a last chance of mercy which they ultimately refused and Nigun revealed a data crystal.
"A-alright you undead, I-I've deemed you worthy to taste the power of the Gods that took part in defeating the Demon God's 200 years ago!" Ainz was tensed up but got disappointed because he later found out it was just Dominion Authority and said it was stupid as we all know, then he gets [Holy Smited!], which barely feels anything to him.
"GOWN-DONO NO-" He was concerned for Ainz but he later found that he was laughing and seemed to be absolutely uncaring.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAH! SO THIS IS WHAT PAIN FEELS LIKE! IT IS , IT IS VERY, disappointing. I really got hyped up for this shit, if you had at least a Seraphim Empyrean, you might've given me some sort of obstacle but this, this is nothing. It's just some mid-level boss that I've killed many times before."
"I-Impossible! This is what vanquished the Demon Gods!"
"Then maybe they were weak? Anyways, [Black Hole]."
A black hole materialized from his hand and absorbed the Dominion into oblivion. The display of magical prowess and overall brokenness of power the Overlord showed left everyone speechless, and the Sunlight Scripture begging for mercy.
"[Dimensional Lock]!" A rainbow like dome covered everyone in the plains to prevent anyone from teleporting or escaping.
"You've refused my offer of mercy 3 times now and I am RUNNING out of patience! It's my turn." Everyone gulped, including the soldiers watching him from afar and the ones in the warehouse watching him from the Mirror of Remote Viewing.
"I have over 450 Offensive spells and a lot of other items in my arsenal to finish you off, but I think I'd like to do something different today." He took out something incredibly valuable from what seems like thin air from an outsider's perspective.
To Gazef, he looked like he pulled a sword from the mythical legends with unbridled power, which quite frankly probably is. He saw the hilt of the incredible luxurious and expensive looking blade. It had Golden touches with powerful looking runes engraved into it and you can feel the mana and power from the blade with its presence alone. The sheath in itself was of amazing quality, actually everything about the sword showed great craftsmanship.
To the Warrior Captain, it was basically a National Treasure in itself, and Razor Edge paled in comparison to what he pulled out. He unsheathed the blade. What the masses saw first was blinding, golden light. When the shine dimmed, it showed a blade of absolute beauty and power. It had an extremely sturdy Scarletite-crystal alloy core, and its blade was made of gold and runes were engraved in the sword. And lastly its blade was surrounded with floating, golden flames, brimming with deadly and awesome power, that doesn't harm the user but only affects its opponents. Everyone was in awe, this must be one of his very powerful items they thought.
What Ainz pulled out from his Pocket Dimension was the [Blade of the Golden Sun], a fairly high-class item just a notch below Legacy-class. It was one of the prizes he got from his first experiences in raiding dungeons along with his first few friends during the early days of YGGDRASIL. Since then, he sort of forgot about it, and has been in his inventory, sitting there just collecting some dust. Anyways, it was an AOE weapon. Its focus was mainly distributing damage over many opponents. It has decent piercing, holy, and fire damage but not enough to take him down even with a hundred hits so it was useless to him, and decided take it to out right now.
"What was the magic you invoked earlier Gazef-dono again? [Sixfold Slash of Light]?
"Y-yes Gown-d-dono, does it have something to do with 'that'" He said while looking at the Legendary Blade.
"Yes. Well, this blade does something similar. It's called the [Blade of the Golden Sun], one of the first items I have acquired in the past, along with my comrades. And I'd like you to do the honor of using it." Gazef was shocked and told him.
"W-what?! I can't possibly use such a valuable ite-" His denial was interrupted by another denial.
"No Warrior Captain, since it's been sitting in my... Storage for God knows how long, I think it's time that I give it a use so I present to you, the [Blade of the Golden Sun]!" In reality, the blade was basically trash to Ainz so he just gave it away, since he already has hundreds of swords and all sorts of weapons in his pocket dimension, both trash and treasures. Gazef shot out a look of gratefulness and steeled himself for getting the blade.
From just appearance wise it looked very powerful and heavy, but to Gazef's surprise, it was very light, more so than the average sword. As he held it up, he could feel his body raging with grand power coming from the blade. His body emitted a slightly golden aura as he held it up to a stance.
"I thank you so much Gown-dono for giving me the honor of holding such a blade." He said gratefully.
"No worries, now it's time to face them. Say the words [Rays of the Golden Sun] and release its power toward your enemies. Now, go Warrior, Gazef Stronoff!" As he hears his melodious, baritone voice, he nodded in approval and ran towards his enemies with all his might, with assistance from the blade. He ran with inhuman speed and balance and screamed at the terrified mages.
"THIS IS THE FITTING END FOR BASTARDS LIKE YOU! [RAYS OF THE GOLDEN SUN]!" As he said that, he slashed the sword in the air and it manifested 200 huge slashes of golden light aimed directly at his enemies. All the mages were frightened. They tried to get away from the slashes but everything they did was utterly futile. Majority of the Scripture got slashed up and chopped up in a slice'n dice fashion. From 2,300 men, 213, including their captain Nigun Grid Luin, only survived which will be arrested and interrogated. In the end, the bloody one-sided battle's victor has been decided– the protectors of the village.
Gazef thought to himself 'Wow, so this is the legitimate power of mythical prowess and legends.'
Shortly after the tide-turned battle, Ainz [Greater Teleportation]-ed to Nigun and cast a [Sleep] spell to his body and went back to his previous location carrying the body of Nigun. Ainz then summoned several corpse collectors to get all the bodies from the ones that got killed by the golden slashes and bring them to the center where he would later deal with it.
(Fan Fact: in this world and fanfic, the most valuable items in his Arsenal are three WCIs, [Ouroboros] which he bought at a discount galore back in the central market, PVP free zone at the last day of the game in Helheim. [Depiction of Mountains and Rivers] which he forgot to put back in the Treasury, and the one in his stomach [The Great Absorber](Since it doesn't mention what it does I just made stuff up), a WCI that increases it's attack power indefinitely of True damage that negates all resistances as it stays longer in his body, it also absorbs all the damage given by another World item or Wild Magic. Other non-WCI important things are the guild weapon, [Staff of Ainz Ooal Gown], cash shop items, equipment of some of his comrades which he forgot to put in the mausoleum, and several data crystals containing the Super-Tier spell [Gate of The Dragon God] which he couldn't obtain with his Dark wisdom due to Absolute racial class restrictions (You'll know what it does later into the story). Also, so far, Ainz has an impressive set of 25 Super-Tier spells that he can use without limit besides from cooldowns of course.)

Gazef walked back to Ainz to give back the sword of legends which he has honored him with. He was surprised when Ainz politely declined before he was about to say anything.
"Gazef-dono, it is alright, think of it as a... gift from me, of sorts. Keep it, I have no use it for it anyway and might as well give one away, plus I have hundreds of these in my storage, and a lot of them are useless to me and for memories only. It feels good for someone to make use of them, no?"
Gazef grew respect for the unique undead for all he has done. And wholeheartedly accepted the weapon which could be said once wielded by the Gods.
"I humbly accept this legendary weapon that you have bestowed upon me. I am greatly indebted to you."
"Umu, it's alright, now let's go back to the village. They are probably awaiting your arrival."
After that, they went to the village, interrogated all the living captives, rested, and Ainz turned the corpses into a total of 1,400 Death Knights and 42 more Corpse Guardians, to secure the area even more, as his daily undead summoning limit has been increased hundred-fold. It was pretty fucking overkill, 1,442 undead knights and abominations were literally more than the village's numbers and Gazef's infantry combined. But no doubt that actually took out a big chunk of Ainz's mana pool, despite it being nigh bottomless.
(A/N: I sort of did the math, since there were 213 survivors, there were now 2,087 corpses. One corpse = One Death Knight, sixteen corpses = 1 Corpse Guardian. I made this corpse-undead summoning rule thing for number's sake.)
They then went to pay respects for the dead villagers that were slain by the Slane knights(pun intended) during the burial. He ordered Tsunami and Thanatos to give the remaining Theocracy culprit captives to the Re-Estize soldiers which was Gazef's infantry and got two knights that know how to use Martial Arts to be trained and turned into his human agents for less conspicuous information gathering and experiments, because, why not? Ainz wanted to know how capable humans can be instead of using unsociable intimidating undead servants all the time.
All the villagers and soldiers were resting at the dark of night while the undead were doing their duties as usual, while Tsunami and Thanatos were conversing about random things. After all the things that had happened today, Ainz was sitting alone in the grassy plains looking up at the clear and beautiful night sky.
Gazef too walked to the plains, with his brand new sword on his side, and was surprised when he saw him. He went beside Ainz while looking up to the stars. Ainz accidentally blurted in a sad, nostalgic tone.
"Ah if only Blue Planet-san could see this, he would go crazy... Oh how I miss them..."
Gazef sat there listening carefully to what Ainz was saying as they gazed towards the endless ocean of dark beauty and shining diamond. Ainz spoke in a way that made him seem he could feel emotions of a living being, and have comrades just like he and the humans next door. Then he saw it again, tears?! Ainz was crying black tears and fog made out of negative energy from his eyes, which he later wiped out. He spoke which snapped Ainz out of his trance.
"If I may ask, who are you talking about, Gown-dono?" Ainz was silent for a good minute or two, staring at the sky and made a phantom smile, as much as skeletons can do, which Gazef could somehow sense.
"My comrades, friends, from my place. I was just, reminiscing about them."
"Are these comrades of yours from, this 'YGGDRASIL'?" Ainz looked at him in surprise and asked him.
"How did you know about that?"
"Oh I merely assumed since you said something about it earlier while talking about the Angels."
"Ah, you're an observant one, well guess the jig is up. I am from another world, YGGDRASIL, the same realm from where the Six Great 'Gods' and Demon Gods, according to the information I've extracted from their leader and their remaining numbers. Though I only got two of the Six Great Gods' names, I was still a bit familiar to me like 'Surshana' and 'Alah Alaf', so I'm fairly certain that must be it." When Gazef heard this, he realized this being was might legitimately be a God. A mythical being standing before him. He was startled a bit and spoke.
"So Gown-dono, are you saying you are a God?" Ainz looked at him for a bit.
"My answer to that is no, maybe from your standards, I maybe a God-like being but to me, I am not a God. I don't believe I am the "chosen one" or whatever titles the previous beings had, that's why I am always cautious of everything in my surroundings. Evaluating every information and every nook and cranny to secure absolute success. I maybe powerful, but I still need to be careful, you can never be too prepared." He paused for a bit to let his words sink in then continued speaking.
"Now I have a question for you, what do you think makes a God?" Gazef contemplated a bit and realized that the question was actually more difficult than he imagined before answering and said.
"Power and Authority..." Gazef answered with uncertainty in his voice.
"Really, then are you not a God yourself Mr. Stronoff? You have Power that seemed to be considered to be of legends, and probably enough Authority to influence others if I'm correct? Aren't kings wise and filled to the brim with authority? Aren't legendary warriors considered Gods due to their power? If that is so, then a lot of people would probably be 'Gods' by now, I assume."
"No! Absolutely not! I am not a God, I am but a mortal man. So I guess divinity is what makes a God?" He said with even more uncertainty.
"Really, Mr. Stronoff? If so, then what makes things "Divine", what is divinity really? What determines things to be Divine?" When Gazef heard this, he could no longer think of an answer to his arguments. He was simply impressed at the cunning and knowledge the wise being in front of him had. Ainz himself was actually surprised at the knowledge he said, he thought that it might have something to do with his intelligent stat and said it subconsciously.
"Alright, I'll go back to a slightly different question. What determines a God?" He thought for a good minute or two then arrived at a fairly logical answer.
"The people?"
"Correct. That is, at least what I think, determines a God. It is because people entitle them to Godhood. But of course, if you have your own opinions on what makes a God, I will respect it." He marveled at Ainz's knowledge and complete wisdom of the matter, befitting of a being that might have lived for a very long time, which in reality, he lived only thirty years old, but if you consider the his age to be the start of his avatar's creation, then 12 years. 'Well, if he says he's not a God, then I don't know what is anymore.' As Gazef thought about this, while Ainz just now fully realized what he has become in this New World.
Satoru was just a simple, insignificant salary man that knows ample knowledge of business and careers, and YGGDRASIL being his past time and encourages him to move forward. But now, he was a new being, one that can have the power to not just be a bystander and be controlled by megacorporations. He was Momonga and Suzuki Satoru, in one body, and he plans to spread the name of Ainz Ooal Gown to maybe get the attention of his friends if they are ever here.
"Well, if you have time to spare, would you want to know more about me and my comrades? In exchange you tell me more about yourself."
He started seeing the figure in front of him less of an undead but more of an "acquaintance", who sincerely loved his friends and people, whatever they maybe.
"Of course Gown-dono. I'd like to know more about you, and sure I'd tell you about myself too ."
"Very well." Ainz then pulled a strange box from his PD, and put some crystals into it. And it glowed, projecting an image of thin air. It displayed a picture of all the members of Ainz Ooal Gown. It showed grotesque looking monsters, slimes, angels, dragons, demons, undead, and all sorts of monstrosities, but Gazef sort of expected this because everything this undead had done was and still is mind boggling anyway.
They sat there in the starry night, and Ainz materialized a magically powered chimney of all things to keep Gazef warm as they talked all night, exchanging stories and having laughs. That was the time that they had struck a cord with each other and slowly but surely became friends in the near future.
Gazef was getting sleepy when he laid down at the soft grassy plains and closed his eyes as their conversation came to an end.
~End of Chapter 3-
Since my online classes will start in a few days, my schedule for posting chapters will change also. My schedule of releasing chapters will probably be one chapter every one or two weeks. Sorry about this but please bear with it. Thanks for the support btw :).
