Many thanks to those who read and reviewed this fic. I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here Naegi gets into an identity crisis given his Amazon nature, and he intend to seek out answer before giving his to Fenrir…

Ch. 28: Amazon no kigen
At the Nozoma Pharmaceutical, the scene outside shows that it is a multi-story building, which appeared to be a corporate building, and there the scene shifts inside, and shifts towards a laboratory, where Nagito Komaeda is currently held prisoner, and the scientists are studying the A-Driver they took form Nagito, and explained to Makoma what they discerned so far.
Makoma is rather intrigued on who created the belt and how it helped Makoto in controlling his Amazon form, and also wondered how Nagito became an Amazon as well, and she instructed the scientist team members to keep on investigating and inform her of the findings, which they nodded in response, assuring her that she will be informed of what they find out.
"Yes, ma'am."
"Leave it to us."
"We'll get the data you need."
"And Nagito Komaeda won't escape."
"We will inform you of our findings."
"You will be the first to know."
"Count on us, ma'am."
"…"
By then one of the guards came and told Makoma that Nagito is awake and is causing a verbal ruckus, demanding meat, and he asked her what to do, unsure if he should approach him or not, and Makoma told the guard to ignore Nagito's ranting for now and not let him have his way.
"Ignore him."
"Ma'am?"
"Ignore that boy."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Even if…"
"That is an order."
"Yes, ma'am."
By then, Kizakura came and told Makoma that Makoto is currently with Fenrir and that they just brought in an Amazon here for study, which Makoma asked if Makoto has been sent home, in which Kizakura said there hasn't been any word yet, but also told her that the REAL Komaru happened to stumble at the scene earlier, and there is a possibility that she may have seen Makoto in action.
Makoma stared in a rather alarmed look, as this is unprecedented and told Kizakura to find Komaru and have her sent back to another place so as to keep her from meddling, which Kizakura adjusted his hat and asked if she is sure, which she sternly said she is.
"Are you sure, ma'am?"
"Yes. Find Komaru and send her away from here."
"Really? Throwing away your biological niece?"
"She doesn't belong here. I don't want her meddling around."
"Hmm…"
"Now go and do as told."
"As you wish."
"…"
After that, Kizakura nodded and took his leave.

Minutes later, the scene somewhere within the building, where the Fenrir members are at the ground floor, as they are told that Ryota is recovering well-enough, but he cannot go into field missions for at least two days.
Munakata was a bit concerned, as his subordinates will be hard-pressed, and that he is unsure if Naegi can be trusted given the boy's present stand on which path he should take, and what his decision will be, and there Sakakura asked what will happen now, which Munakata said that for now their weapons will have to do for the time being, given that Ryota is not medically cleared.
Sakakura stared seriously as he knew what the Fenrir leader is saying.
"Huh?"
"You heard me, Sakakura."
"But…you mean…"
"Until Ryota is cleared, we'll have to rely on our weapons."
"And what about that other kid?"
"Until he has a definite answer…we can't rely on him."
"Really?"
"Yes."
By then Ryota came out and greeted his fellow Fenrir members, and they were relieved to see that he is seemingly okay, though they told him that he will have a day-off, which he whined, but they told him that it is better to rest for two days before resuming their activities, which Ryota conceded.
"Sorry, Ryota."
"You need to rest."
"Yeah. For your own good."
"Eh? But I…"
"Trust us. Once you are rested, you will be better."
"That way you can help us out."
"We are all looking out for each other."
"I see…"
As a male nurse came and escorted Ryota to a recovery area, the Fenrir members pondered on what to do next, though Soda said that the Amazon they fought at the tunnel several minutes ago is dead, thus he said that they can rest for two days, which the others agreed, though they had to admit that they owe it to Naegi's assistance.
Munakata reluctantly nodded, and yet he made it clear that Naegi must show a firm resolve and which path he should choose before deciding to make him a full-time member of Fenrir, which Soda is in favor of letting Naegi join, reasoning that having two Amazon in the team would boost their operations, though Ikusaba said that it would depend on Naegi himself.
"That would depend on Naegi himself."
"Eh?"
"…"
"So we'll have to wait for his answer?"
"Yes."
"Come on…"
"It's for the best."
"…"
Suddenly, Naegi arrived at the building which surprised some of the Fenrir members, and Munakata asked Naegi if he is here to give his answer, which Naegi said that he has no answer as of now, stating that he is here to see someone so he can get answers himself that would help him decide on what to do next, and what his goal should be.
Munakata raised an eyebrow and told Naegi that if he has found the answer then he knows where to find Fenrir, which Naegi nodded, promising that he will give Munakata his answer.
"So then…"
"I'll find the answer."
"If you do…"
"I know."
"Fine."
"…"
"You know where to find us."
"Right."
After that, he went upstairs, to seek someone, and the Fenrir members watches on as they braced themselves on where this would lead to, and hopefully not the path they wanted to avoid.
Suddenly Munakata received a call from Makoma and gave him instructions, and there he is not quite pleased, asking her if she is sure, which he is told that it is an order and mentioned that they would be paid well if he and Fenrir do as told.
After that, Munakata told Sakakura to have the others ready, saying that they are doing something that is Amazon-related, and Sakakura asked if he is sure, given that Ryota is not ready yet and Naegi has not given his answer, and there Munakata said that for now, their current line-up will have to do for now.
"Have everyone available ready."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, Sakakura."
"But Ryota's still under observation…and that Naegi kid is…"
"I know."
"Huh?"
"But we will handle this on our own for now. Our current line-up will do for now."
"Fine…"

The scene shifts at a room where Nagito is being held, and he sarcastically pleaded for anyone to give him food, and as he lay back on bed seeing that no one is answering, he wondered what to do, given that the A-Driver is not in his possession, thus he cannot freely transform without it.
By then, Naegi came and is holding a hamburger, and Nagito smiled and politely asked him to give him some, though Naegi stared in a neutral manner and stared at him for a while before asking for a demand, which is telling him about the Amazons, how Nagito come to terms to being one, how he became one, his reasons for fighting and how to control it.
Nagito smiled, seeing that Naegi wanted to know about being an Amazon as well as having an identity crisis of sorts, and there Nagito said that he will explain if he is given the hamburger, but Naegi wanted answers first.
"So you want to know?"
"Yes."
"Okay."
"…"
"But give me the burger first…"
"No. tell me all you know."
"Oh spit."
"…"
Sighing, Nagito gave in and decided to tell Naegi what he knows though he warned that it might make little difference, revealing that he became an Amazon on his own free will and not out of some random experimental things.
Nagito revealed that a scientist from the Nozoma Pharmaceutical did not like what they are doing, creating Amazons and use them for weapon-related purposes, and told Nagito that he has the means to stop Nozoma and the Amazons. Nagito was inspired and accepted the scientist's offer and the teen took the Amazon cells that the scientist smuggled out and injected it into his body, which led to Nagito becoming an Amazon.
Naegi stared wide-eyed at hearing this, and by then Makoma arrived and explained to Naegi about the Amazon cells, which the creatures born from the cells had a variety of biological structures. They can also mimic the appearance and personality of a human , and then revealed that they devised special armbands that act as suppressants that dealt with the Amazons' insatiable craving for protein.
Naegi was shocked upon hearing this and asked why she did this, yet Makoma is indifferent and said it is for the betterment of society, and revealed that everything is going smoothly until the unnamed scientist is against it and uses Nagito to sabotage everything, which Nagito sarcastically apologize
Makoma did not bite the bait and blamed him for the INCIDENT that happened two years ago.
"You are a fool, boy."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"…"
"Because of what you did two years ago…"
"Oh. Me and my bad luck…"
"Know your place."
"Ha-ha…"

Meanwhile the scene shifts at the basement area of the building where Fenrir is outside a lab room where scientists are studying the Amazon that was taken down at the tunnel earlier, but then as Sakakura peered through the door glass, he noticed that the Amazon, which somewhat solidified, is shown to have cracks appearing, and he told Munakata about it.
Upon seeing it, Munakata told Sakakura to check it out, then he will alert the others to be ready.
"Sakakura."
"Yeah?"
"Go inside and have a look."
"Then?"
"Call me by radio if what you think is what we fear…"
"Okay."
"Good."
"I'm heading there."
Nodding, Sakakura went inside the lab to check out the scientists, and there he told them that cracks are forming, which the scientists noticed it, then they saw more cracks forming until the Amazon- which became solid, cracked further until it EXPLODED, and there it is revealed that the Amazon from the tunnel that was seemingly defeated by Naegi earlier turned into a pupa, and now it evolved, becoming the Swallowtail Amazon.
The scientists became terrified at what they are seeing and feared for their lives.
"WWWAAAHHH!"
"IT'S ALIVE!"
"RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!"
"I DON'T WANT TO DIE!"
"I'M OUT OF HERE!"
"RUN BEFORE THAT THING GETS YOU!"
"WAIT FOR ME!"
"MOMMY!"

Fenrir is now having their hands full now that an Amazon is rampaging and with Ryota and Naegi not available, the Fenrir members will have to deal with the Amazon themselves…
