Hello, and welcome to the next chapter!
Guest 1; Thanks very much! Thanks for the suggestions! Yeah, Mirko is a pretty cool character, I don't know how I'd do that with Nana.
Eavise; Thanks for the suggestions! Momo and Keita would be pretty awesome together, she could make anything, he'd fuse it together into different things, it would be a great combination.
JWJNation; Thanks! And I will be soon yeah~
ThunderFang72; Thanks very much! And yeah, she could be~
Vizard Masky; Thanks! We'll find out a bit more about that this chapter. Yeah, Kai does care about Keita, but he's also willing to do horrific things to Keita or around Keita. Thanks for the harem suggestions! Keita will have his moments when he does stand up to Kai and shows him what's what. And thanks!
gundam 09; Thank you! Yeah, Keita's eventually gonna be caring for Eri.
Unzueta; Thanks for the votes! Haha, I could see Setsuna doing that. And thanks, it's gonna be an interesting journey for Keita.
weslyschraepen; Thanks for the suggestions!
ShadowUzumaki55; Thanks very much! Yeah, they're very different to one another. I suppose in a sense it does mirror them. Keita's observant, and can learn and pick up things quickly, and adapt to most situations within a split second. It is quite horrible, Keita's had quite a bad life so far, but he'll eventually gain a better life as people come to help him. Sir Nighteye is definitely going to be a huge influence in his life. Thanks for the votes!
Silver crow; Thanks! Yeah, he's met Mirko, and she's gonna be rather, inspiration for him. It's gonna be quite the fun way he can use his Quirk. Keita and Kai are going to have...interesting interactions. He will do and has shown some traits that Kai has, and no, he's not a germaphobe. Katsuki seemed to take some kind of shine yeah. That's gonna be important later on down the line. Yeah, Keita's lived his life around it, so he doesn't really affect him. He does get something from Keita's DNA, maybe or it's for another reason. Whatever it is, will become apparent as we go forward. Yup, Mirko came in and showed her strength. The Boss and Keita do have a good relationship. Keita and Sir Nighteye's relationship is going to be quite deep as we go forward. Ooh yeah, he's got insane pain tolerance, being Overhaulled, basically killed, a number of times, allows him to suffer pain and it not really bother him as it would others. Keita and Rappa are going to have a nice relationship. He has yeah, he doesn't want to be weak, he wishes to be strong, and to stop Kai and any other Villain. Seeing him being Overhaulled, Sir Nighteye put his personal feelings aside, so he could rescue Keita from that fate. Kai does love Keita, he's the person he cares most about, even above the Boss, but there's reasons for him doing what he's doing to him. He could do it if he wished to do so. He might do yeah with the robots. He can do yeah, with some practice. His range will increase as the story goes on. In a sense, Keita could counter Decay, before the full effects happen, he could simply restore himself, and take away the Decaying parts of his body, Keita will be quite dangerous to Tomura if they fight. Keita could do, or he might already have some, who knows. Thanks for the harem suggestions! Hana wont be in this story. Yeah maybe she could do. Besides Rappa...well, we'll see. We'll be seeing Keita doing some cool stuff. His Hero's costume is gonna be quite fun~
Hazzaman; Thanks very much! And thanks for the suggestions!
lord web of life of destiny; Yeah, I try my best to make things interesting~
Chrono trigger; Yeah, I've been thinking about doing it for a while, and thought that now would be a good chance to do it. Eh, not sure yet, still thinking about how to proceed there. Thanks for the suggestions!
InnocentxPsycho; Thank you very much! I'm glad you're enjoying it! Yeah, it is quite like that. My next real life story huh. Erm, it would either be Flash Season 2, or Buffy Season 2, I'm keen to do either of them, just have to find the right time. I'm behind on Lucifer, by about a season or so, but I do like that show so I could make a story for that in the future.
Bobby Jenkins; Thanks for the suggestions! I'm glad you're enjoying it so far, it's going to get rather interesting as we go forward, and Keita begins showing more of his strengths, and resilience.
L; I am thinking of taking inspiration from Edward, he does use it quite well. And thanks for the suggestion!
Andrew123456; A female Tomura huh, that would be fun and scary to explore~ The other two, could be fun~
Guest 2; There will be a few from different places, not just U.A~ Thanks for the suggestions!
Well, with those lovely reviews out of the way, it's time to start the chapter!
The Search begins!
A week had gone by since Keita had met with Sir Nighteye, and during that time, Keita had to wonder more and more about what he knew. Why he seemed to suddenly say he could be safe.
He didn't know Sir Nighteye, or his Quirk.
He wondered if it was mind reading, or something that could allow him to gather intelligence about people from a touch, or a look in his eyes. He remember Sir Nighteye doing both, so perhaps it used both his eyes and his touch to make sure he could gather the information.
He hoped that his brother would leave him alone.
Right now though, Keita didn't have time to deal with that, he was currently walking through an area together with Rappa, Chronostasis and Kai. Chronostasis was the right hand man of Kai, and someone he considered not expendable at all.
Keita didn't like him, he was just as cold as his brother, but unlike Kai, Chronostasis wasn't at least a bit kind towards Keita.
Kai kept a close hand towards Keita while Rappa rolled his eyes at the sight.
"Keita, remember, keep your mask on. We don't need to breathe the same air as these horrid people."
Kai said, fixing the bird like mask that was on Keita's face, matching the one that was on his own face.
"Yes, I know."
Rappa continued to roll his eyes.
"So Overjerk, why are we here anyway?"
"I'm looking for someone to boost the overall power of the Shie Hassaikai."
Kai replied with a stern look.
Rappa huffed as Keita placed his hands together.
"This place is rather dirty looking, and the people here are all glaring at us as if they're going to...I believe the word is, lynch us."
Rappa lightly laughed, hearing what Keita had said.
"Naturally, this is a disgusting place Keita." Kai replied, his hand resting on the boys shoulder. "It's a place we shouldn't have to be in. But, I've heard that there might be a person with a Quirk that will come in handy. It shouldn't take long to find this person."
"If it's dangerous here, why bring this boy?"
Rappa demanded, showcasing a small amount of care for Keita who felt touched by it.
"I wouldn't put my brother in harms way, if that's what you're implying. I like having my brother beside me, it gives me ease. Besides, he has a useful power in case I need to use it."
"Whatever you say Overjerk." Rappa placed a hand on top of Keita's head, who smiled up towards him. "Don't worry kid, I'll kick crap out of anything that comes near you."
"Rappa-san, you're too kind~"
Kai's eyes landed upon Keita and Rappa, seeing how Keita was smiling towards Rappa, left a jealous sting within him.
Kai pushed Rappa's hand off of Keita and pulled him close.
"While you're with me, nothing will harm you, Keita."
"Y...Yes, I'm sure you're right. But still, these people look a bit odd. They don't really know us, and they're glaring and...that ones making suggestive moves towards me."
Keita pointed out a female licking her lips towards Keita who awkwardly smile.
"Don't worry, it wont take..." Kai paused, when seeing the person he desired. "Good, he is here after all. Rappa, watch Keita. Chrono, come with me."
Kai moved forward, while Chronostasis looked back towards Keita.
Keita simply stared at him as Chronostasis shook his head.
"See boy? He needs me beside him more than you."
Keita rolled his eyes as Chronostasis walked forward, getting towards Kai, while Rappa raised an eyebrow.
"What was that about?"
Keita looked around as he spoke.
"You mean with Chrono there?"
"Right, his words seemed a bit more venomous than most when speaking to you."
"He's a childhood friend of my brother, he's never liked me due to the amount of time my brother spends with me. He tries to get one up on me or whatever, saying how he's more useful to my brother, and things like that. I don't really pay him much mind. I have more things to worry about than what he thinks."
"Say the word kid, and I'll knock his ass out."
Keita chortled.
"It's alright Rappa-san, he wouldn't ever do anything to hurt me. He would hurt big brother Kai if he tried to hurt me. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but his words couldn't ever hurt me, isn't that a saying? Thanks for offering though."
Rappa lightly smirked.
Keita's eyes drifted back towards the woman who was winking this time. Keita looked towards Rappa as he turned his nose up at the place they were in.
"Run down dump, isn't it kid?"
"With some touch up, it could be a diamond in the rough."
"Heh, I suppose that it could be." Rappa looked around as Keita hummed. "Still, I can't see anything good being here. I think your brother probably is a little nuts to believe someone here could be helpful."
"My brother probably sees someone as expendable here that could have a useful ability. He only sees a few people as not expendable."
"And you're one of them, right?" Keita shrugged. "He said something that intrigued me. He said you had a useful ability. What did he mean by that? Don't you guys have the same Quirk?"
Keita genuinely didn't know either, shrugging his shoulders.
"Your guess is as good as mine Rappa-san, I don't know what he was speaking about. Perhaps he was just saying some nonsensical things, to throw you off, or maybe he was thinking that the two of us would be better than one. Probably things like that." As Keita spoke, he saw from the corner, there was someone there, being bullied, being punched and kicked. "Ooh my God, Rappa-san! That man needs help!"
"Kid, wait!"
Rappa called, but Keita couldn't let someone be attacked like that.
Rushing closer, Keita slammed his hand on the ground, and caused the ground to erupt in pillars, slamming deeply into some of the men's torso's, flinging them away from the man on the ground, Keita could see that it was a blonde haired man who was freaking out.
"Oi brat! Don't get involved! This bastard owes us money!"
The seemingly leader yelled at Keita, his hand began growing and his muscles protruded from his arm. Keita pulled forward, not backing down from this man as Rappa noticed some sparks were going around his fingers, spreading up his hands.
His eyebrows raised at that, wondering what was happening.
"I don't care, you can't attack a man like that over money."
"Tch, who the hell do you think you are kid?"
"That doesn't matter. I wont let you attack him."
Keita said it with a surprisingly serious stare, something Rappa thought could match Kai in the scary department.
The man looked on with a slight hesitation, before he pushed forward, his fist going towards Keita's body.
"Hey kid, want me to deal with it?"
"Rappa-san...do you mind?"
Rappa punched his fists together, stepping between Keita and the man.
"I don't mind at all kid. Remember, I'm your fists, anyone that tries to harm you, I'll knock it out."
The man's fist heading forward. But Rappa didn't mind, Keita seeing his shoulders twisting slightly as rapid fire punches erupted forward, slamming against the man's upper body again and again.
The strength enhancer couldn't fight against the powerful fists of Rappa. He tried, he definitely tried. But Rappa's strength was more than he could handle, and received a number of blows to his upper body, bruising his skin, and busting his lip as well as delivering a number of other injuries.
Seeing it going too far, Keita stepped in, grabbing Rappa's arm, and held him back.
"Rappa-san, that's enough. I don't want to kill him."
Rappa sighed, seeing the expression on Keita's face, and pulled back.
"...Alright kid, I'll let it go." His eyes went towards the man, and glared hard. "Ever try anything against this boy, and I'll splatter you across the walls, understood?"
He cringed, nodding so fast Rappa thought he was going to have his head come off.
Keita went towards the man on the ground, seeing him grab the remnants of his mask. The black and grey mask that had been scattered, it seemed that he wasn't handling it well. In fact, Keita hadn't seen someone so panicked before.
"No...I'm going to split...I'm splitting! I can't deal with this!"
Keita bent down, seeing him beginning to shake and he even saw the man shed a tear or two. It seemed like he truly was struggling. Bending his body into all sorts of shapes, and ways, his face contorting.
Keita placed a hand over his chest, taking the man's hands, and stopped him, the man's eyes turning towards Keita.
"It's alright...don't worry now." Keita took the remnants of the mask, and began using his Quirk to restore it. "There's many pieces...but, I think I should be able to fix it..." The man watched in amazement as the mask that had been ripped apart, was restored back to normal. "There you go. Good as new." Keita placed the man on his head, gently smiling towards him. "No more splitting now."
The man looked at his mask, seeing it being fully fixed.
Then his eyes took him towards Keita.
Seeing his smile, the man took his hands.
"You fixed it..." The man suddenly turned away, and huffed. "I'm not going to thank you!" He snapped, Keita watched curiously as the man suddenly turned back and grinned. "Thank you very much!"
"Hehe, you're quite odd. But you sound quite pleasant~"
"You're the odd one kid!" He roared defensively, but then he showed a peace sign. "I suppose you're alright."
Keita gave him a curious stare, before standing up.
"It's alright now, that man's not going to hurt you anymore. But, maybe stay away from these kind of places."
"Stay away? I don't have anywhere else to go! No one would want me!"
Keita could understand that.
He also felt like that sometimes.
"I'm sorry about that...maybe you could find somewhere you belong. With people that care about you."
"People...that care?"
He didn't seem to get it, Keita curiously cocked his head.
"Yes, that's right. Everyone deserves to be with people that care about them. I'm sure you can find it too. Don't give up, you'll find somewhere, some people that will cherish you."
Those words, seemed to have a deep impact on the man.
However, before he could say anything, Kai came rushing over, so he began to run away.
"Wait, maybe I could help you! I could-"
"You helped enough!" He yelled, stopping, and bowed his head. "Thank you kind boy~"
"Keita, that's my name."
"Keita...Twice!"
"Twice...is that..."
Before he could ask, the man rushed forward, through the door. Keita gave a wondering look towards the man known as Twice as Keita believed from what he said, wondering if he was going to be okay.
Kai came over, seeing the men on the floor, then his eyes went towards Rappa.
"What have you done..."
"Big brother, I did it. I started the fight."
Kai's eyes shot for Keita curiously.
"Why?"
"Because they were hurting an innocent man, I had to stop them."
Keita replied, not wanting Rappa to be harmed at all.
"I see...well, that's how my little brother is." Keita was pulled towards Kai, while Chronostasis walked up with gritted teeth. "I've convinced a new member to come back with us. As I thought, this man was also down on his luck, so I gave him a reason to stay with us. Keita, I'm sure he'll be quite useful as we grow stronger."
"I see...I'm happy for you big brother."
"Yes, now come with me Keita. Lets go home, out of this filthy place."
Chronostasis watched as Kai began leaving with Keita, and the seemingly new member of the Shie Hassaikai.
Shaking his head, Rappa noticed that Chronostasis was taking out what seemed to be a high pressured shooter to hit Keita with it to hurt him, so he casually punched him in the back of the head while saying "Oops, sorry Chrono bastard. My hand slipped." as he snickered, Chronostasis groaned, looking up towards Keita and the others, narrowing his eyes considerably.
At the same time, Sir Nighteye right now, was beginning to think about who would be able to help search for him, while keeping it quiet, in case Keita's brother had some connections that could keep him hidden and out of the public eye.
He started in areas around the place he had met Keita and was beginning to expand with time. Thinking about what could be happening with Keita, what kind of situation he could be in.
Now that he was searching everyday.
He was going to all sorts of places that he saw within his vision of Keita. He did see some landmarks that could help him, guide the way to where Keita could be.
But each time he came towards them, he couldn't find out where they were. Where he could have gone after that. He recalled from memory, trying to see how Keita entered and exited.
But the places he visited, didn't have anything that looked like the place Keita had gone into.
He kept thinking about Keita, and what kind of situation he was in.
As he was searching, All Might dropped down.
But as soon as he did, Sir Nighteye could see that he was unsteady on his feet. He almost fell flat on his face, Sir Nighteye moved closer, and propped him up.
"All Might, don't push yourself."
Showing his concern, Sir Nighteye didn't want to put anymore strain on him.
But, All Might waved off the concern.
"No, it's fine. A kid out there needs saving. What kind of Hero would I be if I didn't search for him myself?"
While Sir Nighteye expected All Might to be concerned,
"I am thankful to that, but you also have to think about your own health. Have you taken my advice, and began searching for a successor? Seeing your state now...this boy I'm searching for, he has a good ability, I saw him controlling the ground and even using his Quirk to heal people...I'm not currently sure how he's doing that, though I have some theories he can manipulate matter in some way, perhaps if we find him, then maybe he could be the person you pass on the Quirk too..."
"Nighteye...I know that you're worried about me and things like that...this boy, he might be a good person to inherit the Quirk. Right now, I'm more focused on saving this boy than anything else."
"As am I. But take it into consideration. Someone that can heal as well as have your power...imagine how strong he'd truly be. I also have another candidate, in the form of young Mirio Togata, his Quirk would also be amazing with One For All."
All Might knew that Sir Nighteye was worried about him.
"...I'll think about it. But, lets find this boy first of all."
It was clear that All Might was avoiding the question, and didn't want to talk about that specifically.
Right now, Sir Nighteye could understand.
They still had a boy that needed to be saved, after all.
Having spent just over two weeks with Katsuki now, Keita was getting a better read on her. More and more, he could understand about her. He had met her a number of times in the park, and today was no different.
As time passed, he began to truly understand her more as a person, her drives, and her motivations. But he also saw that she was a little more calmer when they seemingly were talking together.
Today, Keita saw that she had something in her hand.
"What's that?"
"It's called a crepe."
"Crepe...ooh, I've heard of them before...I wonder what they taste like?"
Katsuki raised an eyebrow at that.
"You've never had one before?"
"Nope~"
Katsuki became curious about that.
Seeing his expression, it didn't seem like he was lying, so she thrusted hers forward, and said "Try it, I don't care." so Keita smiled, and took a bite out of it, his face turning slowly to a happy state.
"Amazing..."
Katsuki gave a bemused look.
"You truly haven't had one before, have you?"
Keita shook his head.
"Nope, I've never had one before. It's amazing to have this kind of food Bakugo-san."
"It's weird, why haven't you had one? They're pretty common around here."
Keita paused.
He couldn't answer that without revealing some stuff about himself.
And he couldn't reveal anything about himself.
"W-Well, I've just not had the chance before! Hahaha, n-never mind that! Tell me Bakugo-san, what's your favourite type of food anyway?"
"Favourite food? Eeh...I like spicy food I guess."
"Spicy foods...it's because you're an angry kitten huh~?"
Katsuki frowned lightly as he simply smiled towards her.
"You're a bit weird, huh...well, we could always go and get something to eat."
"Get something to eat…? But, I don't have any money Bakugo-san."
"Really? You have no money?"
"No, my family...they don't like...what I mean is, I don't get much...erm, pocket allowance and I haven't...got much on me...maybe a little bit, but nothing to buy a meal or anything like that..."
Katsuki rolled her eyes, jumping to her feet, and grabbed his arm, pulling him to his feet as well.
"Come, we're leaving."
"But, I don't have any money..."
"I don't care, we're going now!"
Keita chortled lightly poking her cheek to her slight embarrassment.
"You're quite bossy, huh~?"
"I am not bossy!"
"It's okay, I think it's really adorable~"
Katsuki growled as Keita simply laughed.
Shaking her head, she simply turned towards the city and began dragging him away.
When arriving in the city fully, Keita's eyes looked around at the different people moving through the city. Seeing how they were talking together, how they were interacting. It was amazing to see people like that.
He then saw a Hero covered in wood swinging on by, Keita giving an intrigued look.
"Do you think he suffers from morning wood?"
"Pft!" Katsuki did a spit take, trying to hold in a laugh. "W-What!?"
"You know, because he's covered in wood, do you think it's hard to wake up with that wood all around him? Morning wood must be difficult. I suppose it would be like unmanageable bed hair or something."
Katsuki stifled a laugh, now understanding what he was saying. It didn't make it any less funny in her eyes though.
"O-Oh...I thought you meant...never mind..."
"It must be uncomfortable to sleep with wood all around you. What if it gets wet? Baths must be hard too...maybe he could have dry rot as well...termites must be killer for him as well..."
"You just say what ever's on your mind, don't you?"
Katsuki murmured, Keita shrugged.
"I don't see why you shouldn't. As long as you don't hurt anyone, why can't you say what's on your mind~? You'll never learn if you just keep quiet, right? Of course there's times you have to remain quiet as well, but I just like to know more things about people."
"Heh, you are an odd one alright. So tell me something." Keita nodded for her to continue. "You said you haven't had a crepe before."
"Yes, that's right."
"Then, tell me you've had things like ice cream before."
"Ice cream...well, I've had a few before. It isn't like I've never had any different types before Bakugo-san~" He lightly chuckled, turning around to see different market stalls. "So many time of food, it makes me want to eat it all~" Katsuki gave a bemused look as he bent towards her. "It says free samples! Lets try some Bakugo-san!"
"Heeeh..."
Katsuki was then dragged away with Keita holding onto her arm. She watched as he began taking different types of food. She was astonished that each time he took a bite out of a new one, it was as if he was doing it for the first time.
As they walked through, Keita saw a clown come up to Katsuki, and sprayed water at her.
Keita began to laugh while Katsuki snapped "Die!" and went to explode him, but Keita held her back form doing it.
"It was only a joke Bakugo-san~"
"Stupid clown! He's begging me to kick his ass!"
Keita lightly petted her head, as she let out a low growl.
"Now, now. Don't worry about that~"
Katsuki huffed, and walked forward through the food stalls. Keita followed after her, taking different kinds of samples for him to try.
As he tried one, a picture fell out of his pocket, so he bent down to pick it up.
As he did, Katsuki's eyes were drawn to behind him, looking at him intently with a small dusting of pink filling her cheeks.
However, she stopped when she noticed he noticed her.
"Something wrong?"
"No. Come, lets go."
"Haha, sure~"
Like that, they continued
Keita and Katsuki continued together, and did various things together. As time went on, Katsuki allowed herself to relax more, and allowed her to breathe calmly, it was a situation she quite liked, something she didn't think she'd be able to say.
Eventually, the sun began to go down. Keita knew he'd have to go back home soon, but he still was enjoying himself so much.
He couldn't recall a time when he was able to be this relaxed in any kind of situation.
"Bakugo-san, I don't know if this qualifies, but was this a date?"
Her eyes went towards him in confusion.
"Why would you assume that anyway?!"
"It's just because we're close like this, right? We're spending time together like this..." Keita poked his fingers together. "...I've never been on a date before...and if that was...it was so fun..."
"This wasn't a date." Katsuki clarified, as she brushed past him. "We're just hanging out. If we go on a date, you'll know about it."
That only caused more confusion to Keita, while Katsuki merely pressed forward.
"I see...I suppose it's too early for us to go on a date anyway~ We've only known one another for a few weeks~" Keita turned back to Katsuki curiously. "Say Bakugo-san. I get the feeling you don't like to hang out with many people. So, why do you want to hang out with me?"
"Why? Because I..." Katsuki paused, looking Keita up and down. "...I guess I just wanted to know more about you and your power, that's all. Besides, you don't piss me off unlike a certain Deku."
"What's a Deku?"
Katsuki rolled her eyes.
"It's a thing we don't talk about."
"Hmmm...seems like there's complex things there..."
"You're reading too much into it. Deku just pisses me off, follows me around and does annoying crap. Though Deku's Quirkless...believing that U.A would accept Deku...tch, it isn't even worth thinking about."
"Aah well, I still think that this has been good..."
"Yeah, it's been...pretty...good. Though just so you're aware, I do want to see how strong you are."
Keita cocked his head.
"Why's that?"
"Because I want to become stronger, fighting someone strong would help me achieve that."
Keita shrugged.
"Yeah, that makes sense. Hey, maybe we could spar sometime Bakugo-san? Imagine it, your explosions and my earth bending powers..."
"Earth bending powers...you've never actually said what your Quirk does. Is it just limited to the ground?"
Keita looked around, seeing a coin on the ground, so he picked it up, and changed it into a square, surprising Katsuki.
"As long as I can touch it, I can form it it any shape, even restore it to what it once was."
"I see...quite the power. Makes me want to fight you even more. Though I'll have to destroy you."
Keita chortled at her bravado, lightly poking her cheek.
"We'll see Bakugo-san~"
"You saying you're stronger than me?"
Keita once more shrugged.
"I don't know, but my bodygua...erm, my friend is teaching me how to fight with my fists." Keita thrust his hands out, punching the air in a cute manner in Katsuki's eyes, wearing a smiling expression. "Bring it on, anytime Bakugo-san! I'll show you the Keita style of fighting! If I wanna be strong, I gotta fight strong people, like you said, right?"
"Hah, you're right. While you're showing that, I'll show you my style of fighting!"
Keita leaned closer, his hands behind his back, and whispered "You're on." sending shivers up and down her spine, the good kind of shivers.
He then pulled back, and placed a hand to his face.
"You know, Bakugo-san. I don't know if friends do these things together...this is quite new to me...but I think personally that it's been the best day I've had in ages~"
"You don't have friends?"
Keita paused.
He presumed it was normal for people to have friends at their age. But for him...he didn't. Besides Rappa that was. And even then, Rappa wasn't his age, so they had a more bodyguard and protected type of relationship.
So to have a true friend...he didn't think he did have one.
"I-I...well, people are...erm...I just haven't found the opportunity to gain a friend, that's all!"
"Is that so? Well I guess that maybe...ugh...don't make me...ugh...I hate speaking like this..."
Keita grabbed Katsuki's hands, Keita's eyes met hers.
"Bakugo-san, will you...be my friend?"
"Be your friend?" Katsuki said it with a rough edge to her voice. Keita's eyes averted as Katsuki tapped his head. "I guess we could. Though if you piss me off, I will explode you, got it?"
Brightening up, Keita showed a cheerful smile.
"Haha, of course~ I wouldn't expect anything different from my angry kitten~"
"D-Don't call me an angry kitten!"
Keita lightly giggled while Katsuki scowl soon began to fade, and form a light smile. She wasn't sure what it was, but she couldn't really stay angry at him. He didn't do anything maliciously, he wasn't trying to be a jerk to her by calling her 'angry kitten' it just seemed to be the way that Keita spoke, and to her at least, she found it rather…charming.
Keita then looked at his watch and saw the time.
"Ooh, I have to go Bakugo-san." Keita bent his neck, and smiled gently. "Tomorrow...Bakugo-san?"
"If I feel like it, I suppose that I could come back."
Keita cheerfully embraced Katsuki who was stunned.
She didn't know what to say for a few moments, until he backed off, and waved.
"Until then, my exploding angry kitten~"
Katsuki shook her head as he run off.
Her eyes ran themselves over his form, and she lightly smirked at the sight before her.
After having just spent sometime with Katsuki, Keita was going to walk back home from the park, when he heard a call "Heeeeeeeeeeeeey!" from up above him. His eyes turned upwards, and he saw a figure coming down from the sky.
He paused as the figure landed before him.
His eyes saw the rabbit ears, along with the tail behind her. The fluffy white tail that Keita thought looked rather soft.
"Ooh, it's the rabbit Hero. Hello rabbit Hero~"
Mirko gave a sly smile, leaning forward.
"That's how you're gonna address me?"
"That's what you are, aren't you?"
"Mirko, got it memorized?"
Mirko said, poking his forehead.
Keita's eyes looked up towards his head, then towards the woman before him.
"Mirko...yup, I've got it memorized." He chortled out, spinning around her, and saw her tail. "Is that real? Or apart of your costume?" Keita watched as the tail began to move on its own. As soon as he did, he placed his hands together. "How adorable~"
"Adorable...heh, adorable. Not many people can get away with saying that to me."
"Can I?"
"Hahaha, you're an odd boy alright!"
Keita cocked his head.
"How so?"
Mirko sweat dropped, seeing Keita's innocent expression on his face.
"Never mind that. So what you doing kid? Getting into more fights?"
Keita placed a hand by his forehead, and saluted Mirko to her bemusement.
"No ma'am!"
"M-Ma'am? Making me sound old! I'm only in my twenties!" Mirko pulled Keita's cheek, while he just smiled towards her. "So kid, what are you doing around here anyway? I've seen you here sometimes lately."
She asked, letting go of his face.
"I've just come off a day out with a...girl that I know~"
"Ooh, a date is it? Young love, blossoming."
Keita lightly poked his fingers together, shaking his head side to side.
"I thought it was, but she insisted that it wasn't. She truly is a cutely weird girl~ But, I like her quite a bit~"
"I see, I see." Mirko overlooked Keita's general appearance, seeing his face, and his body as well. "So boy, you handled yourself pretty well against those thugs."
"I guess, they seemed to be mostly inexperienced with the usage of their powers though."
"You're not wrong, they weren't anything to write home about." Mirko got close to Keita, and peered into his eyes. "So, when I saw you that day. I didn't see any fear in your eyes. Even when they were trying to take you, you still held no fear and took action immediately."
"Is that bad?"
Mirko slapped his back, nearly pushing him over.
"Not at all!"
"Haha, you're an odd bunny, aren't you?"
"Odd bunny? I'm an odd bunny?" Mirko smirked towards him, and pushed his forehead. "Tell me boy, since I saw your attitude, I quite liked it. Ever thought about becoming a Hero?"
"A Hero...erm, well..."
"Not "Erm.." or "Well..." I asked, did you ever think about becoming a Hero?"
Though she was rather rough, Keita found her quite amusing.
"I honestly, don't know if I would be able to become one."
"Why not? That fearless look in your eyes when you fought those guys. I liked seeing that. I'd like to see more of that. We have so many Hero's nowadays that don't have the guts to stare down enemies, and fight, not giving up."
Keita bit his lower lip.
"Mirko-san, can I tell you something?"
"Sure, what is it?"
"It's...how you spoke, how you liked the way I wasn't afraid. I wasn't trying to be brave at all. It's just a natural reaction for me. So, I don't know if liking me for that is something good. It would like liking me for...I don't know, breathing normally. It sounds weird..."
"Aah, I understand now." Mirko nodded again and again as she circled him. "You're one of those types aren't you?"
"One of...what types?"
"You're humble." Mirko bent towards his face. "Cute, and humble. I'm sure you'd become popular. Though, more than that, you say those things that you were just doing it as an instinct. But, if others your age were to be nearly kidnapped, they'd be afraid, or would freeze. But you didn't. You took action immediately, you defied their disgusting acts. Don't sell yourself short. It isn't the same as breathing. It takes strength of heart to face down danger like that."
"I...I thank you, Mirko-san."
Mirko waved her hand, as a beeping of her phone went off.
"A Hero's work is never done." Mirko smirked at Keita, and began bending down. "Remember kid, you are strong. Next time you doubt it, remember what you did back then, and know that you can do it. I'm sure you'd be a pretty...interesting Hero. Goodbye for now!"
Keita watched as she shot into the air, disappearing in a single bounce.
Though the meeting was brief, it had a profound effect on the young boy.
Something she said..
How he could be strong.
He hadn't ever considered himself strong, he considered himself someone that was able to stop the evil from doing more harm.
But...maybe he could be strong.
Maybe, he had the chance to be strong.
A few days after spending time with Katsuki and Mirko, Keita mused "So these are some of the strongest Hero's...huh. Still, Mirko-sans one of my favourites~" to himself, as he overlooked a few screen shots on some websites.
Ever since he had learned a bit about this All Might, he decided to see why he was the Number One, and while not dying his abilities…
It seemed like All Might was a person that could use his strength in different ways. Punching so hard the air was caught and blasted forward, his ability to kick the air and stay up, and things like that.
Though Keita also saw another bunch of Hero's that he thought also had cool Quirks.
However, he was more fascinated by the things Hero's did. Of course he had an idea of what they did, he knew the general idea of Hero's. But he hadn't ever really bothered looking into what more they did than the obvious.
Rappa, who was sat nearby, just casually eating something Keita had made, called into question about something's.
"According to this article I've found on the statistics for the higher ranked Hero's, this flaming man...eeh, Endeavour-san it says his name is...he has more cases solved than All Might. Yet, people look to this All Might, and say he's the Number One. Why is that Rappa-san? Wouldn't they believe in the person that solved more crimes?"
That's what Keita thought.
But Rappa simply explained it quickly.
"Why people call All Might the Number One is because he's like...I suppose you could say he's the ideal people believe a Hero should be. You know, charming, chivalrous, things like that. Endeavour from what I heard is a cold bastard despite him being a flaming man, so it makes sense why he's Number Two. He might have more crimes solved, but his personality is like a flaming crap bag while All Might inspires people with his attitude. It ain't all about strength, it's a popularity thing as well."
"Popularity...so, it's a contest to see who's more likable as well as strong? I presumed it was something like that...but, being popular makes that much of a difference?"
Keita articulated his thoughts, with Rappa agreeing with a bobbing head.
"Basically. Though I'm sure All Might probably is stronger than Endeavour anyway so that helps the ranking. But yeah, if you're popular, even people stronger than you might be ranked lower, though it isn't like those people high up are weak, I'm sure they're skilled in different ways. And in these days, many people in this world are comfortable with being under All Might, or those top Hero's you're looking up. I don't really care myself, as long as I get to fight strong opponents."
"But, wouldn't you want to surpass the best? Making it a goal of a Hero to become strong as well as kind? I'm not really sure about being popular, I've never even had the opportunity to try and be popular, and I don't think I'd really care as long as I could help people."
Putting his thoughts across, Rappa chortled.
"People tend to not think like that from my experiences. They're comfortable with just sitting back and watching the world go by. That's why you're different kid. You wanna do things for yourself, and grow stronger. Not caring about popularity shows your humble nature, I'm sure you'd probably go far with a nature like that. There can be selfish people out there. I should know, I'm one of them."
"Rappa-san, I don't think you're selfish."
"Hah, that's because you're too kind, and see good in others. I am selfish, and I admit that freely. Don't think too hard about it kid."
"I suppose..." Keita mused, but then clapped his hands together. "Ooh yeah, I nearly forgot." Rappa watched as Keita rushed into the kitchen. Coming back a few moments later, he had a cake in hand. "I baked this, to celebrate our friendship! I remembered your favourite type of cake, I hope you enjoy it~"
Rappa scrunched his eyes together.
This was something odd to him.
He hadn't ever had anyone act like this before, so he wasn't accustomed to it.
"Our friendship...huh."
"Yup, I've never had a guard last this long before, so it's a real treat~ Plus, I've decided that Rappa-san is cool too~"
"Hahaha! You've decided that, have you?"
Keita clapped his hands, then bent forward with a keen smile.
"Yeah, that's right."
"Well, I guess I could eat some cake."
"Great! Please enjoy! Oh, also thank you for getting me this computer. Big brother doesn't like me having anything that can connect me to the outside world."
"Heh, well he's a freak anyway so it doesn't matter."
Keita held back a small laugh as he sat back down.
Rappa's eyes went over Keita's form, looking towards the different little things that he was doing.
Keita on the other hand was becoming more fascinated with the outside world.
Wanting to know more and more about it.
"Rappa-san, tell me more about your life, okay?"
"Why?"
"Because, I'm curious. How did you end up fighting in an underground fighting arena thing anyway? Why do you like it so much?"
Rappa began to think while Keita leaned forward, more intrigued than before.
"Well, I became a fighter as a defiance to my strict parents. Telling me what to do all the time, not allowing me to follow what I was passionate in. I decided to defy their words, and their upbringing and be whoever it is that I wished to be."
Keita cocked his head left.
"You had strict parents? So it's a rebellion type of thing then?"
"I suppose you could say it is like that. I just love challenging people with my fists and my Quirk. If it doesn't come from the body, if people use like guns, then I think they're pitiful, and shouldn't be in a fight with me in the first place."
"But, what if people make guns with their Quirk?"
"Eh...well, I guess that would be apart of their body...even then, I'm looking for a thrill of a fight. A truly good fight that could help me become stronger."
As he ate, he saw Keita simply smiling towards him.
As time went on, Rappa was slowly but surely becoming more friendly with Keita.
He did like being around the young boy after all.
Over three weeks…
And no luck.
Sir Nighteye, in his continued search, wasn't pulling any leads.
For those three weeks now, he hadn't been able to find anything about him. Nothing, had been turned up. It was like he had disappeared off the face of the earth. Or he was that good at not being spotted that he was able to stay hidden.
However, luck would strike when an unexpected person showed up at his agency.
Mirko, the rabbit Hero, lounged around his office. It seemed that she had simply broken into the office, and was sat down on his desk, her lazy eyes going around to different places. Sir Nighteye showed slight irritation at her methods.
"I heard you were in particularly difficult to deal with."
Mirko showed her smirk, jumping to her feet.
"I've been waiting for ages now."
"Waiting for what exactly?"
Mirko took out a picture of Keita, tossing it to Sir Nighteye.
"I've seen this kid before."
Sir Nighteye couldn't believe it.
Nearly a month of nothing and now…
He had a chance to find him.
"You have…? I need the location immediately."
"Alright, chill out. I heard that this kids in some kinda trouble, and saw this picture so I came to tell you about it."
"Yes, thank you. Now please tell me."
Mirko sighed, and did as he asked.
She then flipped in the air, and turned towards the exit.
"He's there some days. I've seen him a few times. Just got the memo today about it, which I'm surprised about. You should've just asked more people earlier. So I thought that I'd give the information. So, what kind of trouble is this kid in anyway? He seemed to be able to handle himself quite a bit."
"I...This boy needs to be saved. That's all I can divulge right now."
Mirko rolled her eyes.
"Don't tell me, it's fine." Mirko went towards the door, opening it, and began moving forward. "You better go, if that kid needs help, then you better help him."
"Yes, I will. Thank you, Mirko-san."
"No need to thank me, just doing my job as a Hero. Now, I've got another bastard to kick the shit out of, got a call. Bye, have fun. Be there soon and all that good stuff. Hahaha, time to go and beat a Villain!"
With that, she walked out of the door. Sir Nighteye immediately went to call All Might...but he stopped. He recalled that All Might had already exhausted his time limit for the day, in part of him helping search different cities with his incredible speed.
So he couldn't rely on All Might.
He didn't want to.
He could save this boy too.
He rushed towards that park.
It took him just under half an hour to get there. Usually, it would take longer than that. He couldn't drive there due to the traffic of that day, so he ran as fast as he could.
Eventually, he arrived at the park. Sweating, panting, exhausted from running so fast and hard.
However, Keita wasn't there.
He wasn't around at all.
Sir Nighteye breathed out, attempting to think of where he could be now.
Sitting down on a nearby bench, he simply waited.
Maybe he was early.
Maybe he was late.
He didn't know.
He just waited.
Meanwhile, Keita sat around the Shie Hassaikai, lamenting on the day out he had with Katsuki the other day. It was so fun, he wished that he could spend even more time out like that.
He wondered if he could have experiences like that everyday.
But as he was, Kai suddenly came through the door. His eyes landed on Keita, moving closer. Keita didn't say anything as he sat down, Kai's eyes turned towards Keita, and gave a soft smile.
"Keita."
Keita turned towards him, and offered a kind smile.
"Yes, big brother?"
"I've been thinking. Remember how we used to go to the park together?"
"Y-Yes…?"
Keita was wondering if he had been found out.
If Katsuki had been discovered.
He was always so careful…
But if Katsuki had been found…
It felt like a number of minutes before he replied, but in reality, it was only a few seconds, and to the relief of Keita, Kai was thinking about something else entirely.
"Well, how about we go now? I'm not busy, I'd like to spend some quality time with you."
"Quality time…?"
"Away from the Shie Hassaikai. Just you and me, how it started out."
Keita had to wonder if something else had prompted this.
"Is there something going on big brother? You usually don't like going to the park..."
Kai placed a hand on top of Keita's head.
"Well, I'm making an exception this time. Besides, since you've been doing so well, enduring all we've been doing, you've been making me very happy with the progress we've made Keita. I want to bring a smile to my brothers face. It isn't a crime, is it?"
"N...No, of course not. I'd love to go to the park!"
Kai showed a smile on his face.
"Then, go and get ready. It's warm outside, so you don't need your coat. I'll even get us some ice cream."
"Of course...going to the park, I'm so excited~"
Kai continued to smile as Keita jumped to his feet. Seeing the smile on Keita's face, it did bring some joy to Kai. And for Keita. Though he knew that Kai was still a monster...he'd take any kind of happiness he could get.
Back at the park, Sir Nighteye waited for Keita to come.
He wondered if he had missed him, and if he had, then he'd simply come back in the morning, and wait all day if he had to.
He didn't have any other leads.
But then, he heard the sound of shoes tapping on the ground.
There he was, Keita.
"...I've found you."
Keita looked shocked at the man that was sat there, on the bench.
He recalled him, the man that tried to help him the first time nearly a month ago. But Keita knew that if he had found him, then something could happen to him, and he could end up dying if Kai found out about him.
Keita went to leave, when Sir Nighteye yelled "Please don't go!" causing Keita to stop.
"...Why?"
"Because..." Sir Nighteye pulled himself up, facing the boy seriously. "...I've been looking for you."
"...Stalker?"
Sir Nighteye almost did a spit take.
"N-No...I...it's hard to explain but I know you're...you're in danger. If you come with me, I can protect you...I can keep you safe..."
Keita gave a sad smile.
"I'm fine, I can take care of myself. You need to leave right now..." Keita looked behind him, then towards Sir Nighteye. "He'll...He'll be here soon, you have to go...besides, I'm fine. You don't have to worry about me~"
He lied, bending his neck right, and stuck out his tongue in a cutesy manner, trying his best to appear as if everything was alright.
"You don't have to lie...you don't have to hide it...I saw it..."
"Saw...it? Saw what?"
Keita had to wonder.
He did wonder more about why Sir Nighteye seemed to be so intent on helping him that day, and even now. It seemed like he had been looking for Keita for a while now.
"...My Quirk, you see...it allows me to see into the future of people that I make eye contact with. I saw your future, I saw...what happens to you. Please, I don't know if it's already happened to you...but, I can keep you safe, so...so what happens doesn't happen again..."
Keita was shocked that there was someone that could see the future. Sir Nighteye had seen his future. Had he seen Keita being Overhauled? Had he seen something else happening to Keita? He wasn't sure, and he wasn't sure if he wanted to know either.
"...Look, I'm sorry you wasted your time, but I'm fine. I don't need saving, and..."
"I saw you dying." Sir Nighteye said seriously, catching Keita off guard. "...By your expression, it tells me that you...you already have died...haven't you?" Keita's eyes averted themselves from Sir Nighteye since he couldn't look at him anymore, the elder man collapsed to the ground, and punched it, in a surprising twist to Keita. "Damn it...I failed...I couldn't protect you in time..."
Keita saw that Sir Nighteye had cut his knuckles from punching the ground, so he walked forward, bending down towards him.
Taking Sir Nighteye's hand, the man stared into the boys eyes, as he used his Quirk to fix the damage on Sir Nighteye's hand. Sir Nighteye couldn't help but be astonished by how he was fixing the damage. How he was able to do these things with his Quirk, it made him wonder all the more what kind of power he had.
"Why are you so angry?"
"I'm...angry at myself for being unable to protect you..."
"Then...you shouldn't be. I died and came back to life a long time before we ever met. You didn't do anything wrong. You couldn't fail something that's already happened before you knew about it, you know?"
Sir Nighteye felt disgusted.
Hearing that, it seemed that it had been happening for a long time.
He also saw the gentleness of Keita's fingers brushing against his hand, healing him and fixed his hand to a perfect state.
"...Your touch is gentle...yet, you've experienced those horrors..."
"I don't want those things to define me. I want to be someone that helps people." Keita pulled back, and showed a kind smile. "But, you shouldn't try to find me again. I'm sorry that you've been trying so hard, but please don't anymore. Leave...please just go before anything happens to you...he's coming...we won escape even if we run...please, just forget me."
Keita pleaded with him.
He didn't want him to suffer a terrible fate, knowing that Kai was coming around quite soon.
"Why? Why don't you...want to be saved? You said that it was for my own safety..."
"...You saw me dying, right?" Sir Nighteye nodded. "That will happen to you if you try and help me. Unlike me...you wont come back. I can't be helped by anyone, because they will...they will end up dead. That's my reality Sir Nighteye-san, and I don't want to drag anyone else into my reality. I don't want to get anyone killed. That's why, please just forget about me."
Sir Nighteye couldn't hide his own sadness at hearing that.
It was disheartening, it was heart breaking.
But at the same time, he felt like Keita was very strong willed.
He hadn't broke through all of what had happened to him.
He was thinking of others.
In many ways, he already had the mentality of a great Hero.
He put others before him.
But still, he was a teenager, and Sir Nighteye couldn't allow him to suffer anymore.
"I can see your kind heart...it's a very wonderful quality to have. But, I can't simply let you be in harms way either...being killed and put back together isn't right. Whoever's doing this to you...All Might, he's very strong, and so are other Hero's. They can help protect you. You wouldn't have to do it alone anymore...you're young, and you already know the sting of death. You don't have to die anymore...you can have a better life than-"
"Please stop..."
Keita's voice came out, with Sir Nighteye looking at the boys face, seeing that he looked sad.
"Young man..."
"I don't want...I don't want to have anyone die...you don't know what he's capable of...I do. If it's me...if I'm the one who's with him, I can stop him...if I'm not there, then God knows what he'll do...I might not be strong enough to beat him, but I...I can stop him from killing others. He'll listen to me..."
"...So you stay there to stop him hurting others? Even if he hurts you?"
"I'd rather it be me, than some innocent person. I can take it...I have done for a long time now. Others shouldn't have to die because of me...because I wasn't there to stop him..."
"And while you're protecting everyone else...who's protecting you?"
Keita felt deeply impacted by that.
He couldn't hide it on his face.
"..."
When he couldn't reply, Sir Nighteye placed a hand to his own chest, trying to convince this boy to not go.
"I can protect you. You don't have to die anymore...you can live any kind of life you want. This isn't a life young man. Your self sacrificing your own happiness for the sake of others, and while that's wonderful...it's alright to have others help you. Tell me...are you happy right now? If others are being saved...yet you have to suffer for it...is this truly the life you want?"
Keita began to shed tears.
Those tears touched Sir Nighteye's heart.
It was so hard to see someone looking like this.
Especially since he knew exactly what Keita had been going through.
"...Of course it isn't. But, it's the only life I have. It's the only way I can do any good. I understand you want to save me...but, that's all I want to do as well, save someone. I want...what I want is to..."
"Tell me, what do you want? What kind of life do you want? If you could have any life...what would that be? Because I can tell...it wouldn't be a life like this. I'm only scratching the surface...aren't I?" Keita didn't say anything, Sir Nighteye knew it was probably worse than he had seen. "...tell me, what is it you want in life?"
"...What I want...it's the simplest things. I want someone...I want a family that loves me...I want to have friends...I want to find a girlfriend, and experience love, and maybe even have children in the future...I also want to help people that have bad situations too...it's so simple, I see it everyday as people walk by...but, that's not my current life...one day, when I stop him...it will be. Until then...I can keep imagining it...I can keep my dreams until I'm strong enough."
"That doesn't have to be a dream...that can be your reality, now. I know you're probably scared...scared of what this man can do...but, he's not invincible..."
"I know he's not invincible...but he's also..."
"Keita!"
Keita grimaced, hearing the voice of that man once more. Within Kai's hands, was some ice cream.
But when seeing that Keita had been confronted by Sir Nighteye. He rushed to Keita's side and just before he could, Sir Nighteye stepped forward, getting between them.
Kai's eyes sunk upon Sir Nighteye's form.
"What are you doing with my little brother?"
"Little brother...so, you're the one that's been harming this boy, is that right? I heard from that Trigger seller, that you're a monster. And seeing this boys demeanour...you're the one that's been killing him, haven't you?" Kai's eyes narrowed even more, beginning to turn towards Keita, but Sir Nighteye stopped him. "He didn't tell me a thing, I found out on my own."
He lied, knowing that if there was a chance that Kai got away with Keita, he wouldn't take out his anger on the boy. He had to think of all of these situations, he had to remember that this Kai could be very strong and he might not win.
But he wouldn't give up either, not until he had exhausted every option.
"Then, you have no proof of anything. I'd never hurt my little brother."
"In case you attempted to lie, I used my own Quirk to see for myself. I saw it...you are destroying your own brother...your flesh and blood, for what? For some sick satisfaction? Are you trying to crush this boys spirit?"
"As I said, I'd never hurt my little brother. You know nothing."
Kai tried to show an intimidating glare.
But Sir Nighteye couldn't be stopped so easily.
He just had to remember the future he saw with this boy.
"I know enough. I know that you are...you are killing this boy...why are you doing this? This child is a good person...he's got a good heart...and you're physically...killing this boy. How could you do that to him? Don't you even care about him at-"
"Of course I care about him! I love my little brother! How dare you say any different?!"
Kai snapped, Keita could see that he was slowly reaching for his glove.
He went to move forward to stop it, but Sir Nighteye stuck out his arm, stopping Keita from going forward, something Kai noticed, and growled.
"Do not attempt to get between me and my brother."
"I'll protect this boy from you."
Keita wished that he didn't say that. While he was touched, he also didn't want anything to happen to Sir Nighteye, he could see the anger that was on Kai's face. From what he could tell, Sir Nighteye only had a Quirk that allowed him to see the future. It didn't allow him to change his body or shoot out any kind of power.
He wasn't sure what Sir Nighteye could actually do against this person.
Keita watched as Kai fully removed his glove, and then the other one came off.
Kai was seriously going to do something to Sir Nighteye, Keita could see that Sir Nighteye probably didn't have a chance, so he tried to move him.
"Sir Nighteye-san, please! Just go!"
"I can't...I can't leave you alone. Not with him…I wont, I wont abandon you to this monster!"
Keita's surprise couldn't be contained.
Someone...was willing to face down his brother, just for him.
To protect him.
Knowing of the consequences…
"Is this...what a Hero does…? Do they...risk themselves for others...even if they could die?"
Keita murmured, with Sir Nighteye looking towards him, with a surprising smile.
"A Hero, wouldn't abandon a child in this situation. I wont abandon you...I saw it...you've lived it...I can't let you go through that anymore. I know it's hard...I know you want to keep others safe...but, it's alright to be selfish sometimes, it's alright to want something better for yourself."
Keita's eyes lowered as he said it.
He knew Sir Nighteye was trying to be kind.
He knew his words did hold some truth.
Kai's eyes angrily widened, his finger going down.
"Stop trying to brainwash my little brother. I'm all he needs. I love him, we're a family. Don't try and disrupt that."
Kai said it mercilessly, with Keita biting his lower lip.
However, Sir Nighteye remembered how Keita's Quirk worked, and how he touched the ground to move it. So he presumed that Kai did the same thing, so he couldn't allow that to happen, taking out a small weight, launching it towards Kai's upper body.
Kai dodged out of the way, as Sir Nighteye came in with a flying kick. Kai raised his arm, blocking the kick, and sent out his own, forcing Sir Nighteye backwards. As he did, Kai used this chance to touch the ground, and the ground instantly turned into spikes.
Sir Nighteye who was skidding backwards couldn't move out of the way in time…
But then he saw the spike that was going to pierce him...suddenly bent in a different way, becoming a smooth surface.
It was shocking.
Kai wouldn't have done that so…
It was Keita.
Briefly glancing at the boy, he saw him with his hand touching one of the spikes, Keita had protected him.
Because of that, it allowed Sir Nighteye to kick off the ground, taking out a few weights, launching them at Kai.
Kai forced the ground to become a wall, blocking off the several weights that came for him. That gave Sir Nighteye the time to circle around him, flanking his right hand side, and launch a weight for his face.
Sir Nighteye thought that perhaps he'd be able to knock him out with that.
But Kai was faster, piercing the weight as it flowed through the air, then the number of spikes heading for Sir Nighteye were unreal. So many of them, Sir Nighteye dodged the first one, but the second one cut into his right hand side.
Keita yelled "Brother, please stop!" but Kai didn't stop.
He kept trying to pierce Sir Nighteye.
Surrounding him in a very fast move, Sir Nighteye couldn't see a way out of it.
He couldn't move out of the way of all of them at the same time.
However, the moment they came to pierce him…
They bent and twisted away from Sir Nighteye all at once. They even went into each other, and broke down all at once.
Sir Nighteye's eyes caught the sight of Keita with his hands moving on the ground. He could also see that Keita was panting. It probably was difficult for him to do all of it at once, and at such a speed, he knew he couldn't keep it up.
Yet, he still looked determined to stop his elder brothers ways.
"...Even now, he's protecting me...this boy is protecting me. From his brother..."
Sir Nighteye's thoughts were interrupted when Kai's eyes shot for Keita.
"Keita, what are you doing? Saving this man...he'll take you away, is that what you want?"
Kai looked surprisingly hurt when he said that.
Sir Nighteye attempted to move in that moments hesitation, but Kai wasn't going to be distracted so easily, and summoned more spikes for Sir Nighteye to deal with, half heartedly doing so as he stared at Keita's eyes.
Keita steeled his will.
"...I don't want any bloodshed. He doesn't...he doesn't understand big brother. That you...you're my brother, we...belong together."
It was so difficult for Keita to say that.
But, he knew it would be the only way he could reach Kai.
Their brotherly bond.
While Kai might be a monster, Keita knew that somewhere deep down, there was some love for him.
Even if it was twisted...Kai would try at least to help Keita if he could.
Kai lightly smiled.
"I know, he doesn't understand. I'm sorry, I know you don't like me killing people. This Hero wont break us apart."
Keita breathed out of his nose, moving to the side of Kai. He knew that if Kai wanted to, he could take down Sir Nighteye now. Seeing the wound on Sir Nighteye's side...he knew that Sir Nighteye had amazing intentions, but he right now didn't have the ability to take down his brother.
Taking Kai's hand, Keita gave a light smile.
"Big brother...can we just go home…?"
"Of course. Right after I finish dealing with this man."
Sensing the malice within his voice, Keita knew exactly what was going on. What Kai was going to do.
"No, please don't do it big brother!"
"Keita, he'll keep trying to get you if I don't finish him off now."
"But if you do then..."
"I'm protecting you. He said that I didn't love you...but he doesn't understand anything. You're the most important person to me. I wouldn't..."
"I know...but, please...he can't win...he can't beat you, even if he does come back...remember big brother...just me and you, against the world..."
Trying to appeal to Kai's more, human side, it seemed to work.
"Yes...you're right, just me and you, against the world." Kai's eyes went towards Sir Nighteye, his hand stretching out. "But still, I can't let you be around...I'll make sure you can't wake up again. I'll put you in the deepest of comas..."
Sir Nighteye went to move, when the earth began to form around him thanks to Kai's Quirk. Sir Nighteye, tried to escape, but with the wound on his side slowing him down for a few moments, the earth was fast enough to wrap around him.
"B-Big brother...you're..."
"Yes, I'll make sure that he wont be able to tell anyone. I wont allow him to come between us. I promised I wouldn't kill him, but he needs to be silenced Keita. It's alright, I'll make sure that he disappears from our lives."
"But, doing that would be like killing him! His friends, his family...you'd be taking him away from them..."
"He'll be alive, maybe one day a doctor can fix him...though not likely. His family and friends can mourn him from his bedside as he's comatose!"
Keita could see that Kai was serious.
Seeing that he was going to do it, Keita couldn't.
He just couldn't do it.
As Kai went to move past him, Keita managed to raise a wall between Sir Nighteye and Kai, surprising him greatly, but his little brother wouldn't move.
"No, big brother. The big brother I knew...he'd not make me sad...you promised you'd never make me sad...so why are you doing that now?"
At those words...Kai actually contemplated what he was going to do.
It wasn't enough to change his mind that Sir Nighteye was dangerous.
But seeing his little brother upset…
He couldn't take it.
"Keita..." He was going say something else, when he saw that from the distance, a woman was pulling closer. A woman with rabbit ears. "Damn rabbit...come Keita, we're leaving."
Seeing her speed, Kai took Keita's hand, and began to move away. Sir Nighteye couldn't get out of the prison, but he could do one thing.
One thing that he could do.
Taking a business card, he tossed it to Keita secretly as Kai formed walls of the earth to intercept Mirko. Keita caught the card, looking down at it, then towards Sir Nighteye who mouthed "You don't have to live this life." knowing that's the only thing he could do now.
He didn't have the power to save himself.
He didn't have the power to save Keita.
But he could do this.
He could give him the card, in case Keita summoned the strength to leave Kai.
As the walls of the earth separated them, Keita mouthed "Thank you, for caring about me." something that broke Sir Nighteye's heart.
He wondered more and more, if anyone had ever truly cared about this boy, if he had anyone he could talk to. If he had anyone at all.
Mirko came shooting down, and slammed her feet downwards in a barrage of kicks. Her kicks were strong enough to break through the earth walls, landing on the ground. But when she did...Kai and Keita had already disappeared.
"I thought I could get here quicker. Tch, damn it." Her eyes turned to Sir Nighteye who looked down. "Geez, you're looking worse for wear."
"...Naturally, it seems that I...I failed him."
"It seems you're alive. So, what are you complaining about?"
"As I said..."
"I know what you said. But those bent spikes over there, did that guy do it? Or was it the kid?"
Sir Nighteye looked towards the spikes, seeing how they were bent, and how Keita had protected him. Risking himself to just save him. He knew this boy now was selfless, he put himself in harms way just for a stranger. He'd stay there and suffer, so others wouldn't have to.
To him, Keita was a boy that had the best qualities of being a Hero.
"...That boy...he was called Keita by his elder brother...Keita-san, he protected me. He stopped me from being killed...he saved me from being pierced. Though I'm the Hero...he was able to keep me safe..."
"Haha...I see, that kid seems to want to keep people safe huh. Well, stop complaining and find him then."
"E-Excuse me?"
Sir Nighteye thought that he had misheard her.
But, Mirko seemed to be quite stern with her looks.
"You heard. Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, and regretting crap, just go and find him. You've got his name, go and find him. We're Hero's, aren't we?"
It seemed so simple.
Yet, it was powerful.
He didn't have time to feel sorry for himself.
Keita still needed someone to save him, and now speaking to the boy…
He was more than convinced that this boy wasn't a victim.
He was something more than that.
He was a trapped Hero waiting to be saved.
End chapter!
So, we got more Keita with Rappa this chapter, their friendship is quite strong, and that's gonna be something that pays off later on down the line. Keita and Katsuki are also growing closer together, while Sir Nighteye seems to be quite forward into trying to find Keita. Keita and Mirko also had another meeting with some, fun implications. She'll be involved helping him grow stronger.
So, thanks for everyone who suggested for the harem! I'm still accepting more so if you want anyone, feel free to suggest!
Also about that, a number of you have suggested having a female Izuku, and I had two ideas about Izuku, depending on if Izuku was still a boy, or was gender flipped.
I thought that as a male, he and Keita would have a similar relationship to how Mirio and Tamaki have, helping bring the best out of each other, or having him as a girl, and being in a relationship.
I'll leave it to you all to decide, and yeah,
Well, until next time, thanks for reading!
