Chapter 10
Our First Date
BPOV
I walked down the hall with Kelly and Donna. Things seemed good. Dylan had called on Monday and even now I'm not 100% sure why, it was still nice he apologized. I wasn't sure at the time how he knew I was bothered by seeing him with Jessica but maybe just maybe Dylan did have a heart. Ignoring each other wasn't going to work and then after getting kissed senseless…literally at the Peach Pit, I went home going back and forth about what I could have done differently. I had to be honest with myself. I was 15 years old and I didn't have the slightest clue how to do any of this. Plus I really really didn't know how to do this with someone like Dylan McKay. If Dylan had been a normal 15 yr old male, that was a virgin like me, maybe we could find out together what the right thing to do in our situation was. But let face it, Dylan knew about relationships, he knew about women. At least more than I even knew about them. I didn't want to act like a little kid dreaming about how relationships should be in my head. I thought that by putting it out there that just because we had a heated night, it didn't mean I expected him to be my boyfriend. I was hoping Dylan would show me the way. Maybe by being cool and collected, I would let him lead the way. I did though take the bait asking to help with a writing assignment on Friday night. Friday seemed so far away.
Los Angeles was having another heat wave. It seemed like a weekly occurrence these days. It was winter, it didn't feel like it at all, the temps hit breaking numbers this week. My parents went out to an early dinner, date night yuck! I was hoping to figure out dinner with Brandon since we'd be on our own tonight. Walking in my bedroom I felt the heat from the shower. Seriously?
"Brandon can't you ever shut the door? I mean it's hot enough in here already." Walking in the bathroom, I glared at the closed shower curtain. My brother was an idiot.
The shower pulled back slowly and my Mr. Sex smirked back at me. He held the shower curtain covering his man area but showing me the perfect view of his chest and that sexy V only godlike men have. "Sorry." he continued to smirk as his eyes traveled down my body. I gave myself a high five I had changed after school into the shortest cut off's I owned and tight tank top because it was hotter than Haiti outside. My eyes traveled down, I couldn't help it. I peeked sue me!
"Uhhhh no…it's ok." My eyes found his again. He held the shower curtain perfectly covering it, damn it. I looked again, I may have licked my lips. Oops! He looked wet and steamy…fucking edible. I was gawking, I smiled and shook my head wandering back into my room. "I didn't know you were here." I continued while I heard the water shut off.
"Yeah…we got the car running today. Brandon said I could wash up." He appeared at my bathroom door moments later, a towel around his waist as he towel dried his hair with another one. "Wish you had come in 5 minutes earlier, maybe you could have helped me in there." he stared. FUUUUUCK ME
"I bet you were really dirty." Oh god, I'm dumb.
He chuckled, "Yeah I AM dirty." he said with a sexy undertone.
I stepped towards him, "What are you doing tonight?"
He glanced down my frame again, YAY cut off's, "Actually what are WE doing tonight is a better question?"
"We?" I smiled.
"Well…Brandon and I were going to check out a movie, but he is going to Kelly's, your parents said before they left they would be home late. That leaves you." He moved closer to me, wet and clean smelling. "And me. He finished locking his sexy dark eyes on mine.
"A date?" I asked
He smiled and nodded, "Sure why not…we are pretending to be just friends, couldn't friends go to a movie?"
I eyed his towel covered waist and reached out and gently touched the towel. He was driving me crazy. His eyes looking at my hand, my index finger grazed the top of the towel, tickling his abdomen. I stepped closer and his hungry eyes met mine. "I'd love too." I whispered seductively.
He leaned down and captured my lips with his. "Until then." He whispered and backed towards the bathroom as Brandon walked in through his door. He looked at himself in the mirror and fixed his hair.
"Sorry I'm bailing on you Dylan, Kelly's mom is going out of town and…I NEED to be alone with her." He turned smiling at us and wiggled his eyebrows. GROSS!
"Nice Brandon." I rolled my eyes.
Brandon laughed, "Sorry Bren didn't know you were there." He looked at Dylan noticing he was half naked, "So…what are you guys going to do?" He looked my way, then eyed us back and forth.
Dylan shrugged, "Well one Walsh sold out on me so I asked the other one to join me in that movie." Oh god he told the truth.
"Yeah…I had no plans so Dylan was nice enough to ask me if I wanted to go."
"I see." Brandon responded weirdly. He glared at Dylan.
"Well If you'll excuse me, I'm going to change." I closed the boys in the bathroom and went to pick out the most perfect outfit for my first date with Dylan.

"What's going on Dylan? You're bringing Brenda to a movie? Is this like a date?" Brandon walked angrily into his room. I followed still in my towel and tossed the one I had around my shoulders onto the bed.
"It's not a date Brandon, your sister is my friend…were going to a movie." I justified.
"Your friend? Since when?" He crossed his arms. Shit seriously?
"We have classes together, we hang out among the same group, her brother, you, are my best friend. Of course she is my friend." I knew my voice was defensive again, but I couldn't help it. I needed it to be ok to hang out with Brenda as a friend, even though we were far from friends.
"Why don't you guys come to Kelly's? I'm sure she wouldn't mind." Oh man he was grasping at straws. He didn't want me to be alone with his sister.
"And ruin your night you planned? You just told me you wanted to be alone with her. That you two had talked about moving your relationship to the next level?" He straight told me he wanted to sleep with Kelly Taylor. He said they had been close and had done almost everything, that he had hoped this was it when she called inviting him over stating her mother was going out of town with a new boyfriend. That was WHY I had to understand him bailing out on me.
He signed knowing I was right, "Look Dylan, I just don't know. I told you Brenda is romantic and dreamy, maybe she will see this as something else?" He was trying to protect her, protect her from me.
"Brandon, Brenda is a big girl. I want to see that movie and she is willing to tag along with me. If you have an issue then talk to her about it." I grabbed my clean clothes I had brought over and went to the bathroom to change. I honestly didn't know what to say to him. Maybe Brenda would know if he approached her with this subject.
I finished changing and brought myself into Brandon's room again. He was gone, I walked to Brenda's door and knocked. "Come in." I heard her call out. I slowly opened the door freezing when I saw her. She had on a tight black jeans with a belt, boots, a white top that had a type of lace at the bottom that showed her skin and her hair was up away from her face. She looked so sexy.
"Wow." I breathed. She smiled appreciatively.
"Do I look ok?" She spun around and gave me a view of her ass, which by the way looked ample and perfect in those tight jeans.
"You look beautiful" lifting my eyes to hers. It was silent for a second and I looked around her room. "Did Brandon take off."
She rolled her eyes and went to her dresser putting on some perfume. She grunted, "My brother is such an ass, do you know he came in here before he left to warn me about you?"
"He did did he?" I wasn't surprised, "What did you say to him?"
"I told him to relax, I wasn't an idiot, I said you were my friend and it was just a movie."
"That's what I said." She turned towards me, and set her hand on her hip.
"He talked to you too?" She said surprised.
"Look Bren cut him some slack, I don't think he's too thrilled about you and me being alone together."
"But thats not his business." She looked pissed.
"No its not, why don't we get out of here huh? Don't worry about Brandon."
She nodded and smiled, "You're right. He doesn't know shit." I agreed as my hand found the small of her back. We walked out of her bedroom and on to our movie.
"What about them?" Brenda commented on a couple near us as we waited in line to buy our tickets.
"That's a pick up if I ever saw one."
"How can you tell?" she asked.
"Body language, he's available." I swung my arm around her shoulder, "she's open to suggestion."
I felt her tense up, "You know a lot about this stuff." she said quietly.
"What stuff?" I looked down at her warm eyes.
"People, couple stuff." she looked down again.
"Don't you?" assuming girls knew about relationships.
She responded shyly, "I don't know. Not really." she said honestly.
"Let's say we shine on this movie?" I tightened my arm around her shoulder.
"What did you have in mind?" she asked seductively. I smirked.
I held her hand tightly as I lead her into the hotel suite. I heard voices as I led her through the entrance. Grasping Brenda's hand tighter I saw my father, "Dylan." he said angrily.
"When did you get back into town?" I asked pissed, I hadn't spoken to my father since I caught him with that slut. That was months ago.
"I need to talk to you in private." He pulled my arm hard enough that our clasped hands split and he dragged me into the back bedroom.
My father started yelling at me about not doing him a favor and moving money into another bank for him. I went to the bank like he has asked, No he hadn't asked he had one of his secretary's ask me. He never showed up. He continued to yell about how life didn't revolve around me and that I was a spoiled brat. I threw his mistress in his face, stating I was going to tell my mother, which made him angrier. I couldn't take it. I stormed out of the bedroom slamming the door. I went straight for the whiskey. Picking up the bottle, I began to pour myself a shot.
"You don't drink do you?" I heard Brenda say judging.
"Only at family reunions." I felt her grab my hand.
"Come on don't you're driving me home." She pleaded. She was right this wasn't a party, she saw that when things got rough I went straight to the bottle.
"Come on let's get out here." I left quickly, Brenda two steps behind me. We had made it to the front of the hotel.
"You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to." She hurried to catch up with me.
"Good." I responded short.
"Do you want to take a walk on the beach or something." She was trying and nervous.
"Yeah and check out the homeless people, that would be great." It wasn't enough I was too riled up. I hated my father.
"Dylan, I don't know what happened up there."
I swung around my hand in my coat pocket, "That's right you don't." I raised my voice. She flinched.
"If you'd let me finish." She raised her voice with me.
"Excuse me, I have a nat for interrupting things." Like my father fucking some woman who wasn't my mother.
"Dylan." She pleaded again. I pictured my father again, with that bitch.
"I'm real good at interrupting things because I've had enough noise for one night ok?"
She looked over to the door man, "Can you get me a taxi?"
"Forget the taxi." I yelled at the door man.
"No…I want a taxi." She walked away from me. Now she was pissed. I followed her.
"No…Just come on damn it." I yelled.
"Look stop yelling at me." She screamed and I lost my cool. I knew she was scared of me. I ruined our first date. I reacted and picked up the potted plant I saw on the ledge and threw it to the ground. It broke on the concrete and made a loud noise. Brenda jumped, startled and took off. She started running down the street. I fucked up. Fuck, I ran after her. She was running away from me. I wrapped my arms around her from the back. My head going to the crook of her neck.
"I'm sorry…I'm sorry." I whispered.
"Just let me go." She tried to get away, her voice thick with tears. I roughly turned her around, I was desperate for her to stay with me. I held her arms tightly.
"Brenda…I'm an idiot please don't leave."
She struggled to try to break free, "You're scaring me." She cried. I let go and turned to the side leaning against the wall. Tears broke from my eyes.
"I'm sorry." I whispered now crying openly.
She reached and touched my arm, "What happened?" She looked at me concerned.
"He just gets to me. He always gets to me. I don't know what I'm suppose to…" I broke down harder and reached for her. I took her into my arms, hugging her tightly as I cried. She held me close as I buried my face into her neck sobbing. I heard her whisper over and over, It's ok. I slowly pulled out from her, she looked at me with sweet serious eyes. I was a mess and she was still here. She didn't leave. She didn't leave like everyone always did. I moved in wanting her. I kissed her hard, enveloping her in my arms. She kissed back, trying to catch up to me. I slowed my passion down and continued to kiss her eagerly. Our heat finally matching, lips and tongues caressing gently. I loved this girl. She made me want to be a better person. I may not be good enough for her but I would try my damnedest to be.
As I drove her home, I pulled up in front of her house. Mondale was still gone and her parents car wasn't there either. She looked over at me and smiled. I took a deep breath.
"I caught him with a girl…" I explained the story about my father. We didn't have a good relationship. I was always alone. "I haven't talked to him in a few months, he didn't even try to explain anything."
"I can't imagine being cut off like that, I tell my parents everything." She said innocently.
I smirked and turned crossing my arms, she was a liar, "Everything?" I mocked her.
She cleared her throat, "Well…not everything." She chuckled. She sure as hell hadn't told them or Brandon for that matter whats been going on between us.
I looked down quickly before meeting her stare, "Bren…don't tell Brandon I lost my cool tonight?"
She looked at me intensely, "I won't." she leaned in resting her hand on my cheek and kissing me softly, "I wouldn't." she finished.
"Are you sorry we missed the movie?" I flirted.
"Ohhh yeah…real sorry." she flirted back. I leaned in kissing her again, this time longer, more intense.
"I had a great time with you tonight." I told her.
"You want to come in?" she asked seriously.
"No…I better go." I didn't want to say goodbye but the truth was. I knew we didn't have the time I wanted to spend with her. She looked down sadly. I brought my finger to her chin lifting it softly. "I'll see you tomorrow at school?"
She smiled a warm smile and nodded, "Good night." she kissed me again.
"Good night Bren." I said softly. She got out of the car and trucked up the driveway to her front door. She turned and looked at me, with a smile she blew me a kiss. I winked at her and watched her enter her house. I sighed. I was falling in love with her. The Walsh's were proving to be great friends to me. Now both of them knew how fucked up my life was. They were still here with me, they cared for me. SHIT, I thought, Brandon was going to kick my ass we didn't make the movie.
