In the aftermath of the unorthodox rescue from the Dragon's Castle where the bridge was left to be split in half while the middle part had fallen into the lava below, Princess Fiona slid down in the slope before her where she ran to the edge of where the vast green fields were right in the very distance; the roar of the Dragon could still be heard but has since faded with the many and many clouds in the clear sky of the ashen filled lands. She believed the day that though it might not have come to her, it had finally happen even if her rescuer was not whom he appeared to be underneath that helmet; but how could she doubt herself now? He was tall and had some lean muscle to his rather large body, still a rescuer of that size is one whom she's forever greatful to no matter whatever he looked like. She could not hold her excitement in any longer as she was willings to see her beloved King Harold and dearest Queen Lillian again in the Kingdom of Far Far Away, how she can imagine their reactions when she was rescued from the tallest tower from a valiant knight and his noble steed. "You did it, you rescued me!" Fiona cried out in excitement
"Your're amazing. You're wonderful, you're..." Fiona continued as Donkey spun vertically down in a wheel form before flipping over onto the ground, while Shrek slid down on his back and hit him; causing his right segmented shoulder guard to break off and flip to the ground, thank god it wasn't his helmet because that would be a massive disaster if Fiona found out what he looked like underneath. "A little unorthodox I'll admit" She paused at the end as Shrek and Donkey got back up from the ground, coming over to them where she continued on
"But thy deed is great and thine heart is pure, I am enternally in your debt" Fiona continued as her rescuer brushed himself off, though Donkey made sure to make his presence known as he cleared his throat from the mucus building up inside; it was no easy task and this was not a one man job after all as he shook himself off beforehand since that was quite the way down. "And where would a brave knight be without his noble steed?" Fiona asked as she got down to pet him on the body and neck
"Oh I hope you heard that, she called me a noble steed; she thinks I'm a steed" Donkey took this compliment to heart and though Shrek responded with a shake off his head, following it up with a breath of exhaling air; neither of them couldn't help but share a smile and chuckle
Princess Fiona believed all her dreams had come true as she had been rescued from the tallest tower by a knight in shining armor, she wasn't going to complain now because she's free from the confinement of her life; to think she couldn't go to Repunzel's slumber party with her other friends. She was imprisoned on the eve of Christmas upon the age of seven and spent twenty long years with the bare essentials such as food to water, army cot, hot plate and chamber pot being her only source to survive the years until the thirdieth year where the present day has at last come. Now it was time to see who her rescuer was behind the helmet he wore on his head
"The battle is won, you may remove your helmet; good Sir Knight" Oh boy, this cannot end well as Donkey gasped; she will be scared off by the sight of the ogre in front of her then if that's how it goes then... No, Shrek must get his Swamp back and rid of those Fairy Tale Creatures or face the pain of having to live with them for as long as he lived
"Uhhh, no" Shrek denied as he backed off, though this seemed to have confused Fiona
"Why not?" She asked him and wondered if there was something her rescuer was embarassed of, like she was about her own secret that she couldn't tell anyone or otherwise; she might be alone if that happens and that shame will follow her to her grave when she passes away
"I... I have helmet hair" Shrek responded as it was true, he really did have helmet hair and it ain't looking pretty to other ladies around because god forbid it if they found out he had nothing on that dome of his. Nevertheless, ogres like him are supposed to have helmet hair because since when was the last time they ever got a haircut? Still though, Fiona presisted
"Please, I would'st look upon the face of my rescuer" Fiona continued forward as Shrek backed off once again
"Oh no, you wouldn't... 'st" Shrek added at the end as this really is not a good idea, what would her parents think about who rescued her back at the tower? Considering that he hasn't met any of his in-laws just yet or a swashbuckling puss who's wanted in San Ricardo and is making quite the reputation in the hidden village of San Lorenzo, he'd say that he's got a few more months to boot until that unavoidable day comes after giving her to Lord Farquaad; just hope she doesn't mention it to King Harold and Queen Lillian nor to the entire people of Far Far Away, it's never a good sign when information like that is leaked. However, Fiona would not relent as she asked him this next
"But, how will you kiss me?" Fiona asked
"What?" Shrek couldn't understand and backed up until he hit up against the stone black walls of jagged scorched stone that was cooled lava. "That wasn't in the job description!" Shrek told his partner in crime as Lord Farquaad did not mention anything about being kissed by a princess as apart of their deal, this woman's got the wrong kind of guy right here
"Maybe it's a perk!" Donkey thought for a moment as he was lost about what to do in the situation like this, that's when Fiona happened to clear up the confusion by telling them
"No it's destiny, oh you must know how it goes: A princess locked in a tower and beset by a Dragon is rescued by a brave knight, and then they share true love's first kiss" Fiona declared as she closed her eyes to reminence in the moment. Donkey was starting to understand here and tried to ask her
"Hmm, with Shrek? You think... wait, wait. You think that Shrek is your true love?" Donkey asked as even Fiona didn't seem so sure, but gave him a clear answer on what she thought was right
"Well... yes" Fiona replied as Shrek and Donkey took this moment to look at each other to process what was going on

They ended up bursting into full heartedly laughter that went on throughout the ages, but the princess didn't understand the humor behind what she believed what was right to her; dare she ask them the next question about this
"What is so funny?" Fiona asked as Shrek's laughter faded and replied with his answer
"Let's just say: I'm not your type, okay?" Shrek told her though Fiona remained stubborn about what he was trying to tell her, she didn't want to be left alone by herself and it was clear that it's a lost opportunity to finally have someone love her for who she was behind the beautiful look and appearance that comes at day; for night however that is the secret she's humiliated with as it happened at the time when she was a little girl where a witch cast a spell on her, from what her father and mother told her since she was young back then
"Of course you are, you're my rescuer; now... now remove your helmet" Fiona asked him but is met with hesitation from her knight in shining armor
"Look, I really don't think this is a good idea" Shrek warned her about the great disappointment that was about to consume her until they reached Duloc miles back from her tower
"Just take off the helmet" She persisted
"I'm not going to" Shrek refused
"Take. It. Off" She was getting impatient
"No!" Shrek denied as he raised his voice
"Now!" Fiona demanded
"Okay, easy! As you command, your highness" Shrek was forced to give in as this was a no win argument that he could not face off against, as much as it hurt him to be forced into giving her the disappointment he tried to warn her earlier; he had no regrets about giving her what she is practically asking for since she would not listen to whatever warnings he gave the princess. He removed his helmet as expected and let's bring on the disappointment from her
Fiona was unexpectingly not afraid but disappointed as Shrek predicted, she didn't know what to exactly really say in response to his true appearance; only then could she had realized that he was not the arrogant momma's boy that was Prince Charming in reality while a brave hero in the dreams of many, but a ogre of all beasts. Shrek's face was covered in filth from that nasty Shrek sized knight helmet he wore but he did give it his best by at least smiling, albiet giving a little troll face as if he was telling her that: "I warned you that I'm not your type, princess" Now that is not something he said to her directly, that is just what his face was expressing
"You're a... an ogre" Fiona expressed calmly, deluded princesses and their high expectations for someone that they could be loved for not by their hearts but by their appearances; this is one of the many things Shrek had seen throughout his solitary life in guarding his swamp from the real threats of the villagers who resided in the village nearby, if they could only spend time with the lovers they've met to find out who they really are behind the judgement of the real world only then would they realize that they're not who they appear to be
"Oh, you were expecting Prince Charming?" Shrek smiled as he asked him, who would want to date that arrogant momma's boy to begin with? Though he has yet to see him he could tell that he was not who he was under the impression of the book he read on him, now that he just prove to Princess Fiona that he was not who he was under the impression of what she thought that he was; there's no going back from this point forward
"Well yes, actually... oh no. This is all wrong, you're not supposed to be a ogre!" Princess Fiona felt everything was collapsing right before her eyes, this is not how she planned about meeting her rescuer and true love; she walked off as Shrek breathed one out before throwing his helmet to the floor as he began to explain everything to her
"Princess, I was sent to rescue youw by Lord Farquaad okay? He's the one who wants to marry you" Shrek told her as he threw off his other shoulder guard, Fiona couldn't help but make a reasonable point here
"Then why didn't he come rescue me?" Fiona was not aware that Farquaad preferred someone else to make the sacrifice over himself since he was just not the rescuing type at all, even Shrek took notice about the question as well as Farquaad simply let someone do the rescuing for him while he took the credit for himself; the things he'd do to become a king even if it meant being a coward to face against her guardian
"Good question, you should ask him that when we get there" Shrek responded as he took off his gloves, looks like Lord Farquaad has more to answer to him than he originally thought back at when he told him that he didn't own the swamp therefore this allowed him to use it as anything but a dumping ground for the Fairy Tale Creatures
"But I have to be rescued by my true love, not by some ogre and his... pet" Fiona protested but stuttered as Shrek mocked her behind her back, taking off his gloves and gauntlets along with his kneeguards
"Well so much for noble steed" Donkey didn't take this very well and Shrek knew that this was not going to be easy getting her back whether she liked it or not
"Look Princess, you're not making my job any easier" Shrek grimaced as Fiona continued to make this a pain in his ass
"Well I'm sorry but your job is not my problem" Fiona crossed her arms and breathed one out as she told him. "You can tell Lord Farquaad that if he wants to rescue me, properly, then I'll be waiting for him right here!" She sat down on the dead tree and emphasized on the word properly but Shrek was through with her defiance and approached her with a reasonable smug on his face
"Hey! I'm no one's messenger boy, alright?" Shrek's voice turned ominously dark and his face turned angry. "I'm a delivery boy..." He held his arms outward towards her to the sides as he leaned down
"You wouldn't dare..." Fiona tested his patience, oh yes he would because the next thing she knew was Shrek swiftly picked her up from the tree and hung her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes; which were assholes by the way because they're so unpredictable when they were all heated by the microwave. "Oh! Put me down!" She protested
"Ya' comin' Donkey?" Shrek asked him as it seems like he still needs someone to talk to after being alone for nearly his whole life, it all brought him back to that lonely night when he was eating alone
"Oh yes, I'm right behind you" Donkey followed him behind as Fiona struggled
"Put me down, or you will suffer the consequences! This is not dignified, put me down!" Princess Fiona continued to fight as smacked Shrek on the back of his head, though he showed no such response to the pain she gave him and neither did he show no such pain to her pounding on the back of his crocodile leather vest as she yelled in frustration
Hours came to mellow out the frustrated princess as she decided to take to answering what was on Donkey's mind that he couldn't help but asking, such as this one while they're walking through the forest in the afternoon. There was a small lake just up ahead from the road that it would appear the three of them are taking, Shrek could use some cleaning on his face since it was still there; never gotten off as they've walked out to the grass fields ahead and over from rock where Shrek and Donkey first overlooked the volcano, to the spot where they rested for now as they walked down the same path as before. So either way he should know where to go from here back to Duloc and end this quest as soon as possible, he misses his slime covered toadstool already
Donkey couldn't stop thinking back to his time spent with the Dragon uncomfortably as it did not look like she's used to having someone to talk to, not only that but she seemed to have a kind of basic view on falling in love with him; at least he tried suggesting that they know just a little more about each other first. Come to think of it, think she might've broken out yet? It was worth the running exercise if she's still in hot pursuit. Just hoped she'd forgiven him, ah what is he thinking she's forgiven him; to make sure though Donkey continued his questions with this one in particular:
"Okay so here's another question: say there's a woman that digs you, right? But you don't really like her that way. How do you let her down real easy so her feelings aren't hurt but you don't get burned to a crisp and eaten, how do you that?" Shrek saw the irony in this situation and so did Fiona as that's what he's been trying to tell her, though she was too engulfed in her fantasies to listen; nevertheless she won't be clouded by her expectations anymore following this point and so she answered for him
"You just tell her she's not your true love, everyone knows what happens when you find your- Hey!" Shrek nearly dropped her on the ground but hoisted her back up on his shoulder with an smug on his face. "The sooner we get to Duloc, the better" She stated firmly
"Ah! Yeah you're gonna love it there, Princess. It's beautiful!" Donkey encouraged, for a lordship ruled town it looked gorgeous as it was especially built to be like a theme park that you can live in. If Duloc was as beautiful as he claimed it to be, she wondered about something else as well
"And what of my groom-to-be, Lord Farquaad; what's he like?" Fiona asked curiously when the trio arrived at a lake close to them
"Well let me put it this way, Princess" Shrek dropped to the ground albeit hardly to make it even between them for that slap on the back of his head earlier and repeatedly pounding on the back of his crocodile leather vest. Just after the tournament Shrek and Donkey had been escorted into Duloc Castle to discover the truth about the swamp, agreeing to head on out to rescue Fiona from the Dragon's Castle in order to get back the home he lived in. Didn't seem to hold him much regard as this happened next when he began to make fun of him, and little old Farquaad can't stop them as they're out here far far away; not to be confused with the kingdom of the same name that's seven hundred miles away from the swamp, the Dragon would be able to provide them a shortcut if she wasn't going to burn them alive that is!
"Men of Farquaad's stature are in... short supply heheheh!" Shrek spanned his hands out to provide her a picture of how much less men that Farquaad has, in actuality he's giving her a hint to what he looks like in person
"Hehah oh I don't know Shrek, there are those who think little of him" Donkey added to the pun as Shrek proceeded to splash water onto his face to wash off the dust, grime and filth as he hadn't done so earlier due to the lack of water nearby. Stifling at first before full heartedly laughing together at what just might be Farquaad's short term rule as king, Princess Fiona just about had enough though in truth didn't know what was so funny about him; or unless they are making fun of him because they're not as great rulers as he is. She had to put a stop to this immediately
"Stop it, stop it both of you. Y'know, you're just jealous because you can never measure up to a great ruler like Lord Farquaad" Princess Fiona unwittingly made a pun about Farquaad's short stature and Shrek agreed with her, but pulled this on her which made the princess realize something else; one that would doom her to exposure of who she really was
"Yeah, well maybe you're right Princess; but I'll let you do the measuring when you see him tomorrow" Shrek emphasized the word measure and quoted with his fingers as believe it or not that was one of the few pieces of fragments left behind when Chris Farley passed away, thus transforming into a ogre that sounds like that one Scottish voice that Mike Myers does; at least he doesn't have a crap on deck that choke a donkey and he's actually met the man himself, the latter one at least. Chris is dead remember? Fiona looked up in horror when Shrek mentioned meeting him the next day
"Tomorrow...?!" Princess Fiona looked back at the sun in the distance that was casting heavier shadows on the trees, that was not a good sign for her as she tensed up. "It'll take that long? Shouldn't we stop to set up camp?" She suggested as worriment in her tone was made clear but Shrek turned to her in denying a suggestion like that, could this be what the Magic Mirror was trying to warn Lord Farquaad about? He did say something about the little thing that happens at night and after sunset, something's gonna go bad worse than a easter egg that none of the children have found in a few months; jesus christ that smell is terrible, god damn son
"No, that'll take longer; we can keep going" Shrek had a point as setting up camp did take longer and if he alongside Donkey made it to the Dragon's Castle in just a day that passed, they can make it back in one day. Fiona however didn't seem to agree with him
"But there's... robbers, in the woods!" Princess Fiona tried to reason with the ogre who only gave a stubborn expression as he's not changing his mind about setting up camp to sleep out the sunset. Donkey was tensed up too because he didn't want his old woman owner to sic a number of bounty hunters after him to sell to Lord Farquaad, she's doing that out of revenge for not claiming her ten shillings. Fiona was right you know, they're getting awfully close into the territory war between the merry men and the English soldiers sent after them; Sherwood Forest was just two miles away
"Whoa, time out Shrek! Camp is starting to sound good" Donkey stopped in his tracks in a intensified stature, Fiona agreed and nodded with him; Shrek ain't having it
"Hey, come on; I'm scarier than anything we're going to see in this forest" Shrek turned to face Donkey, nothing is going to stop them from moving onward and what is she so afraid about in the sunset anyway? He'll guard her for Farquaad's sake so he can go back home in peace. Princess Fiona rushed in front of him having snapped at his stubborn refusal to stop here for the night
"I need to find somewhere to camp, NOW!" She demanded as her voice echoed scaring the birds off, both Shrek and Donkey's ears lower as they shrink away from her slightly but in the case of the ogre himself; pretended to be scared though Donkey was frightened of that yell
Shrek growled to himself as he wanted to argue but was too tired to fight and disagree, he's carried her on his shoulder for long enough and it's putting a strain on his arm; in the end she got what she wanted but the reason behind this was still mysteriously ambiguous. The both of them each secretly came up with a possibility that she's either gets extremely cranky past her bedtime, or she's just not sleeping very well. Whatever the case is she was a morning person in fact during her time in the tallest tower, and she has been there since she was seven on a Christmas Eve. Shrek on the other thought that she's just being rude because one he's not her Prince Charming 'cause again who can love that arrogant momma's boy? Two she's stressed of the events that took place this morning and three, she didn't get to join a sleepover with her friends preferably Sleeping Beauty herself; like he could even give two shillings of a damn
Princess Fiona paced back and forth once they arrived at the mountain cliff where the land is overlooked by all, mass of hills with a river that ran through and the ambiance of the outdoor wilderness gave Shrek some nostalgia of being at his swamp. Speaking of which he was in the meantime moving a boulder to open up a cave for the princess to sleep in, it had a rock that is slanted upward to the right to form the roof with a tall rock on the right to support that; there was a small rock on the left that added onto that with the boulder shifted to the side. Behind it were a few more large rocks as in front of that was a large tree missing a few pieces of bark, although it's gonna miss a large boarded chunk of it when she came over; though she's in the process of intently watching the sunset. Shrek turned over to face her when he saw just how hollow it was inside, this cave appeared to be in good order according to him
"Hey, over here!" Shrek looked in a little more but Donkey didn't think she was gonna like an cramp and dusty old cave to sleep in
"Shrek we can do better than that, I don't think this is fit for a princess" Donkey shared his thoughts on this but Fiona gasped at the thought of finding somewhere else around that's suitable, finding someplace else that she can remain out of sight would take longer than setting up camp like Shrek told her earlier
"*Ah!* No, no it's perfect; it just needs a few homey touches... heheh" Princess Fiona assured them, passing by as although the boulder can protect her from exposure of the twilight that showed her true form; she lacks the strength to free herself from the inside and she's not willing to be trapped again. Hey, even in the Dragon's Castle she had coffee and food to eat; here? It's not worth holding her breath
"Homey touches... like what?" Shrek turned to Donkey to share his confusion, the sound of a cracking snap was heard when they both turned over to find Fiona; having ripped the largest chunk of wood all without it having deteriorated in pieces, Shrek 'oughta be impressed for just how strong she was and how god damn lucky that didn't break into thick shards of wood splinters. How innovative, he sarcastically thought to himself but unlike his door back at the swamp in which those squatters better not be touching any of his belongings; this one wasn't a two way door nor did it shift up to close on either side which gave it that function
"A door?" She stated simply before going into the cave first before setting her makeshift bark made and built door in place. "Well gentlemen, I bid thee goodnight" Although Shrek let her be, Donkey couldn't keep himself from asking
"Um you want me to come in there and read you a bedtime story? 'Cause I will" Jesus christ, that's the last thing he needs to hear seeing how he ain't no good at telling stories and it seemed that Fiona agreed with her; though not in a pleasant way
"I said goodnight!" She firmly stated wanting it to be the end of this, though her anxious and duty to guard her secret got the better of her; thus at the very least reacted to her own voice behind the door within the darkness. She might've been too harsh to Donkey considering he wasn't bad, but he sure did have a motor mouth alright
Shrek frowned upon her rudeness but got a quick smug as he then decided to seal the entry into the cave as payback to make them even with Fiona still inside, moving the boulder a bit before Donkey asked him what he's up to: "Shrek, what are you doing?" He panicked in a hushed voice as the ogre turned to face him laughing
"I just- you know, oh come on I was just kidding" Shrek left as Donkey shook his head at him, he clearly didn't understand the joke just like how Farquaad was compensating for his rather tall castle structure
Later that night Shrek and Donkey sat around a campfire looking up at the sky, with the ogre pointing out the constellations that told him about who these other ogres were such as this one for example. Princess Fiona on the other hand listened through in the case, resting on her back with her arms supporting the back of her head; sometimes she just feels like she's trapped in this cycle of a curse that made her whatever she was in the night
"And uh, that one... that's Throwback; the only ogre to ever spit over three wheat fields" Shrek explained
"Right.. yeah, hey can you tell my future from these stars?" Donkey asked
"Stars don't tell the future, Donkey; they tell stories. Look there's Bloodnut the Flatulent, heh... you can guess what he's famous for" Shrek joked about
"Alright I know you're making this up" Donkey didn't believe him
"No look, there he is and there's the group of hunters running away from his stench" Shrek pointed out with his hand towards the sky, explaining what he's famous for
"That ain't nothin' but a bunch of little dots" Donkey was not one to watch the stars in order to tell him stories as Shrek breathed one out
"You know Donkey, sometimes things are more than they appear" Shrek taught him but also seemed to foreshadow that Fiona's not whom she claims to be, as he is also trying to teach to Donkey that he's not what the villagers claim him to be. "Hmm? Forget it" He guessed that is also a no win argument
Giving out a heavy breath of fresh air he turned to face him, asking him a question that would result in a conflict between the two: "Hey Shrek, what we gonna do when we get our swamp anyway?" Scoffing at the image of that unlikely concept, but the fact he's acting like it's their reward when it's supposed to be his; he replied quickly
"Our swamp?" Shrek replied scoffing as if he just heard him say that
"Yeah, you know when we're through rescuing the princess and all that stuff"
"We?" Shrek blinked but most horrifyingly when Donkey focused a little more when he blinked, his eye was slicing through his eyelid and protruding out from the closed lid; no sleep for him tonight but he didn't really need it, Shrek had something to tell him for thinking that by joining him he was inclined to share the swamp he lived in first as a reward when Farquaad asked him specifically. "Donkey, there's no 'we' there's no 'our' it's just me and my swamp. The first thing I'm gonna do is build a ten foot wall around my land" Shrek explained what he was gonna do, although it'll take a long while; it's worth keeping out unwanted intruders, turning over as Donkey stood up
"You cut me deep, Shrek; you cut me real just now" Donkey admitted as he walked over to speak to him face to face telling his thoughts about what he thinks of it. "You know what I think? I think this whole wall thing is just a way to keep somebody out"
"No... do ya think?" Shrek asked as he turned to the other side resting on a log for his head, now he's made him grumpier than usual
"Are you hidin' something?" Donkey suspected
"Nevermind, Donkey" Shrek is in no mood to talk about this, but he ain't gonna be left alone as if God hated him for what he does to villagers alike; turning to his back as he looked over him trying to get a idea on what this was about
"Oh this is another one of those onion things, isn't it?" Donkey suspected it was another analogy about onions that he shared with them
"No, this is one of those drop-it and leave-it alone things" Shrek raised his voice
"Why don't you want to talk about it?" Donkey responded to him
"Why do you WANT to talk about it?" Shrek shifted to the right
"Why are you blocking?/I'm not blocking/Oh yes, you are/Donkey I'm warning you" Shrek and Donkey got engaged as he tried to break though to him, his stubbornness could only bring him so far. Shrek soon got up when he warned him
"Who you trying to keep out, just tell me that Shrek; who?" Donkey's not giving up as Shrek inhaled and revealed the one he's building a wall against as a restraining order for his land
"Everyone, okay?!" Shrek looked like he was about to hiss satisfied to him, Donkey didn't reply for a few seconds when his ears lowered but grinned as he's made a breakthrough
"Oh, now we're gettin' somewhere!"
"Oh, for the love of pete!" Shrek stormed off towards the edge of the cliff
Princess Fiona whose true form was hidden in the shadows alongside the cover of fire glow that kept the appearance of her human flesh tone opened the door to the side, neither of the two see or hear her as she watched on; the truth behind Shrek is about to be revealed to her at last. Now she will see that she is more than just alone in the world, he has the same issues as she fears to face while Shrek takes them head on with no one to stand by his side
"Hey what's your problem, Shrek; what you got against the whole world anyway huh?" Donkey asked
"Look I'm not the one with the problem okay, it's the world that seems to have a problem with me; people take one look at me and go: AAH! HELP! RUN! A big stupid, ugly ogre; they judge me before they even know me, that's why I'm better off alone" Shrek revealed the reason for his lonesome and anti-social nature, drowning his sorrows in looking down at the land before him
Princess Fiona saw it all from the shadows and the fireglow, looking down on herself as he is no different from her with the secret behind her secluded life; and it was all because she was judging herself because of her curse. Shrek on the other hand had been judged by others and on the outside he was more than cantankerous, irritable and uncooperative to doing things in ways that he's not used to doing. He was just a insecure, reclused and a complete introvert to those who attack him for the things other ogres have done. There are lots of them who need this judgement and they're attacking a few who don't, since then he's been proud of himself for living in his own world until it was destroyed forever when Lord Farquaad unleashed his wicked plan to use his swamp as his dumping ground for the Fairy Tale Creatures. She on the other hand thought that he was just as trapped as she was, he was forced into making a life on his own and she was forced into living out a prophecy that her parents; most preferably her father King Harold is forced into doing to keep his happily ever after, not knowing that Lord Farquaad's interference at the hands of Queen Lilian who wanted her daughter back would cause the catalyst of what kickstarted them off into a series of adventures for the lifetime. She took one last look back at Shrek before returning to the shadows, closing the door all without saying a single word but if she had; it would be she now knew what he felt
"You know what, when we met I didn't hink you was just a big stupid ugly ogre" Donkey came over, sitting down next to him on his left but Shrek knew that from the beginning
"Yeah I know..." His tiny trumpet ears were drooping but perked up when he began to answer a question that his furry friend he called him in his mind asked
"So uh, are there any donkeys up there?"
"Well... there's um, Gabby; the Small... and Annoying" Shrek thought of a constellation on the spot when he turned to him
"Okay okay I see it now, the big shiny one right there; that one there?" Donkey spotted the big and shiny round sphere, though Shrek merely turned to him in order to call him out like a dope
"That's the moon" Shrek answered
"Oh, okay" Donkey's not very good at this
Shrek had his palms supporting him on the sides behind him looking up at the moon before them and Donkey sat with all four hooves on the ground, not risking to fall off to his doom all while the fire burned for as long as the night remained. Shrek could even see another man as he knew him too, his name was William Steig who lived throughout his years from 1907-2003 and posthumously is still here with him; although his story wouldn't be as faithful as it is to the one that unfolds here and he has read it before, he's making sure that it will be a better one for all ages to remember him by. It's what Mr. Steig would've wanted
Elsewhere in Duloc where the moon still shined far away from the mountain cliffside camp set up on request by Princess Fiona albeit with sourness that would fade away into a much more nicer person at the next morning, the trapezoid lined edged three vertical rectangular windows were opened which blew the snow white and light morning blue colored curtains; having gold colored designs which judging by how half of it was obscured by the round folding it featured three gold trapezoid shaped wings that diagonally went down on the sides of the outlined wankel shaped shield with diagonal slanted bottom edges as that's the best way to describe it. This led into the bedroom of Lord Farquaad where next to that were two standing mannequins without a head or hands, wedding tux and dress respectively next to each other as such
Not much difference between his lordship uniform but for one thing it's white with a line of a canary yellow colored diamond pattern that went from left to right, the renaissance shoulder puffed three white lined pauldrons were gold as was his downward beaked collar that went up on the upper edges; but is also segmented into squares with red ovals on each of them and a black belt went across the waist with a red square jewel in place of a blue one like his lordship uniform, this wedding tux also sported a black cape on the back. Fiona's wedding dress was white like the wedding tux of Lord Farquaad as the front was gold edged as it went down before meeting in the middle beaking down a little bit, having a brick to flamingo pink horizontal breast crack cover; the waist also beaked downward with the two sides spanning outwards to have a wide gap of pink down towards the bottom gold edge that went all around. But you know what's the real shame? There's no hat for the wedding tux as instead it fully shows his hair all around, at least not until Thelonious takes over should anything happen to him. Behind the wedding uniforms were a couple of presents that were either red or purple for the most part
There was a dark blue seat with a merlon and embrasure top as the backboard cushions were shaped like a pair of hearts, both of them are occupied by a crown and the top of each end also had a heart on them with arm rests; could this be a wedding throne? The king's crown had a full dark red cushion with golden arches that went all around to meet the cross in the center, all of them were studded upwards with the following jewels on the thick rim in the middle; the jewels alternated between red diamond, green emerald, pink diamond, yellow emerald and so on and so forth. In between the jewel strip was a black and white diagonal spiral outline on the top and bottom, the lower thick fluff edge had a regal white and black spotted edge. Just think about what might happen if this was burped out of a dragon, celebrity marriages could only last for so long; but on the other hand the queen's cushion was smaller and the cross was replaced a pearl, the jewels were the same but the green and yellows were replaced with a light blue and pink instead. A pair of candles were lit behind them to provide some light and a pair of chairs with one facing forward and the other facing the grey granite wall had hollowed arm rests. These chairs were vertically rectangular as the top looked like a horizontal rectangular shape with two towers on the sides, having three squares in front like the castle of Duloc itself. These were also used for the dining room as the bottom had an solid wall that also had a merlon and embrasure pattern that faced the ground
In front of the presumed wedding two seated throne was a wide octagon which had two pairs of slippers as one was basic blue whose front went upwards like a pair of 70s loafers, the one next to that one were heels that had a thick pink fluff ball; the octagon looked like a kind of wardrobe which had a forward facing pyramid shaped square on the diagonal edges around. The ground itself was the same color as the wedding throne, reflective as such. Next to the fireplace which was a bad idea was a painting that depicted a white suited Farquaad with a inner red white cape, silver sword tip first pointing against the fallen beast holding the hand of a blonde short haired princess who also wore similar clothes like him; but with three coat tails on the front and together standing in front of a multi-green hill environment with a blue sky that had gold clouds in the distance. The fallen beast's head lied on the ground facing the left side with a yellow pupiless eye and the painting had a white cloth that drooped behind it
The fireplace was square shaped that went inwards three times to get more smaller until it stopped the third time with a burning fire, even for 2001 it looks cheap; said no one ever. The top had a blue and white striped renaissance puffy beret hat with a white feather curving like a crescent to the left, next to it stood a cone hat as that had a white sash on the tip; again lit with tall candles which is a bad idea. The canvas that stood above the fireplace was a horizontal rectangular shape which had white robbed people standing in a connected chain with each other in the background, a tall blue bird with storm blue and sunrise gold wings and tailfeathers that went down to the right side had what looked like Farquaad standing next to it; though it's head was like a peacock due to it's neck and the background behind the white robed men happened to be gold edged white x-crosses like the flag of Scotland, all while he's standing on a branch. Next to that was a moving wall for changing clothes which had a plaid square design for most of it until the top square which had a crowned king on top, in front of it was pinkish red colored regal robes with the white and black spotted puff edges that cuffed the wrists and went all around the neck down to the bottom as it was strapped across underneath the upper muscles
At last it is here that the fate of Momma Bear has been revealed as she has been turned into a skinrug, such as the doomed life of mothers from the films made by Walt Disney himself as he too lost his mother from a gas leak when he bought a home for his parents; his father on the other hand went to the hospital and he personally felt responsible for their conditions, thus influencing his animated features from this point forward. Oh how the mighty have fallen when their modern movies nowadays are shit to appeal to children instead of being equal to them and adults, damn the modern parents. On the side of the moving wall border was a three inward square shaped mirror behind a line of three shelves that held bottles and a counter with four zebra striped seats, this must be the bachelor/bachelorette's drinking bar for celebrating the anniversary of their marriage also lit by candles; does this even need to be said a third time? At last was the bed which was large and round with two wide discs that led up the third thick disc which had the zebra striped covers, having black pillows and the main silver edged black pillow where Farquaad laid against, either being square like the three on the back or round like a citrus orange disc on the sides in front of the back pillows. Having a trio of vertical rectangular walls that the left depicted a green tunic man with a knife in hand, bringing a sea cyan blue scaled white edged woman showering pink tulips down on the white and silver shell in the sea which is presumingly a grown up Peter Pan with a mermaid; the left was a barefooted white dressed woman spanning out her arm outward with inner pink fabric outwards from her arm being showered in leaves with a lake on the left side of the green lands in the background, also having the same shell going outwards on the right side. This all led to the middle canvas that depicted a blue clothed Farquaad whose hair blew in the wind, standing atop of the shell that spanned out like a white dress backwards into the air and this all made it into a picture of three individuals offering tribute to their soon to be king
The far sides had a tall red curtain and hanging from the ceilings were three downward oval shaped lanterns, from highest to midway and lowest not being anywhere near the bed or anywhere to bump into them. The backboard for the headrest consisted of a tall rectangular stone with a thin plate that went across to form into a plate of sorts, and in front of the bed was the Magic Mirror who displayed the image of Princess Fiona as the music Fairytale or at least a variation using a string guitar played; though it was interrupted when Farquaad who was in bed asked him
"Again, show me again" The music stopped like a jack-in-the-box stopping a few tunes in as the white inverted bell shaped mask appeared before him, Farquaad made himself a little more clearer this time. "Mirror, mirror; show her to me. Show me the Princess" He asked so humbly of him with a martini glass in hand
"Hmph.." The Magic Mirror couldn't argue but his expression spoke for him, at first though you think he was just irritated and tired he had to keep showing her to him; but the truth is far from being complicated. Poor mirror has to uncomfortably watch him indulge himself in such atrocious act, he was not being forced into doing so. Rewinding like a VHS he showed it once more against his will to not be uncomfortable in showing this to him, having different music to play to drown out the cold breezes in the wind of night. Taking a drink of his martini as Farquaad breathed one out
"Ah, perfect..." Oop he got a little too excited there and so he raised his blanket up, doesn't want others to know the truth; so he'll just say he was trying to cover his nipple and chesthair from the cold air. Although he thought that Fiona might be watching, no reason to let her see him in his most vulnerable state like this; the Magic Mirror was also on a painting stand for that reason. (A/N: I'm missing a few more little details for the bedroom so best hang on until I get around to them, gotta be detailed down to the last slime covered toadstool and have the lack of them be good as gone) Sheepishly it's though she could see him as he gazes at her image in the mirror
He did have to wonder to himself, where is Princess Fiona; could Shrek have been slain by the Dragon? At least he doesn't have to hold up his end of the deal and he is honest, it's not too late to send his knights how to rescue her and if it comes down to them meeting their doom; him not willing to go makes no difference to him. If he can't with the one he loves when others bring her to him, then he'll take her back himself
For now he's just gotta hang in there because it'll only be just a few more days before it's time to declare that he's dead, and at least the runner-ups can take his place like he announced before in the tournament that he won fair and square. He will have order, he will have perfection and Duloc will have a king at last
No matter what it takes to get Fiona as the quest given to the ogre Shrek will end in victory, it must end in victory for his beloved bride and queen to be...
