First and foremost, I want to apologize for the cliffhanger. Sometimes those are impossible to resist. I love writing cliffhangers. . . although I probably made this one a little too big.

Overall, I had a lot of fun writing this, though the story characters underwent several changes as the story progressed, as in the case of Spirit and Onyx.

They were based, albeit loosely, on the Night Fury OCs of two other users on the School of Dragons Forum - Phantom, Hookless' OC, and Ebony, LissaFish's OC. I say "loosely" because I didn't make a huge effort to keep the personalities the same, mainly because I wanted to keep my incarnations as my characters, and also I didn't know Phantom's personality, and I only knew one thing about Ebony.

My version of the Lycanwings is based on a thread on the School of Dragons Forums that another user made - you'll see more of them in the next book. When I first started writing this, in fact, the General was going to be one of Flitt's HTTYD shapeshifting creatures (I changed that though because hey, they're her creatures) - I love her I Am Dragonblood fanfiction series. In fact, the book that Everlynh was reading in Chapter 8 was more than just foreshadowing - it was an easter egg.

Now for some explanations for the epilogue. First things first, thank you Niccunningham for your suggestions for Wings of War after I first joined this site. I wouldn't have had the slightest clue what to do with Pheda in Book 3 if it hadn't been for that.

Secondly, even before I started writing this, before I knew what the plot would be, I knew how I wanted it to end. I knew where I wanted Book 3 to pick up, and how that would help me introduce several other OCs. One of them just so happens to be my go-to for every HTTYD-related fanfiction I write, normal or crossover, and I'd been wanting her in here for a while now.

But enough spoilers. Book 3, Talons of Iron, will be up next Monday. Maybe this coming Sunday. . .

Don't expect it this week, though. I'm gonna be off-the-grid for the weekend.

Thank you to everyone who has read this far. It means so much to me that people enjoy reading my work.

And here I leave you, unfortunately with no song or video, because the link won't stay a link.

until next time,
