Ronnie was trying to take his mind off of everything that was going on whilst he was in the ambulance. The paramedics were busy driving and working on Matt to notice what Ronnie was doing.

Ronnies phone buzzed. It hadn't stopped buzzing since the incident. He just hadn't had the time to look at it yet. He got it out of his pocket and looked straight at the opening screen.

"Five missed calls." Ronnie sighed.

Ronnie then looked over at Matt lying on the stretcher. He was motionless as his chest slowly went up and down. Monitors continued to beep all around him.

"What have you done Matty?" Ronnie said, holding Matts hand in his.

Ronnies eyes began to fill with tears as he remembered all the times they had spent together and all the sandwiches they had eaten.

His phone buzzed again and the paramedic in the back with them looked up from his work.

Ronnie smiled as a picture of his grandson came on the screen. That was the last time him and Matt talked. The events of the day had taken away from the happiness that was supposed to happen that day.

"New baby?" The paramedic asked.

"Yeah. Grandson." Ronnie smiled back.

"Congratulations." The paramedic smiled.

"Thanks. One's okay, just hope this one is." Ronnie pointed his phone at Matt.

"You two close?"

"Yeah. Partners."

"I'm sorry he's in this state."

"Thanks. They're at the same hospital." Ronnie said, waving his phone.

"At least he gets to see the baby. Not just pictures."

"Yeah. He couldn't wait. Was going to get chinese and everything."

"Nice way to celebrate."

"Yeah he thought so."

"Let's hope you do get to celebrate soon." The paramedic tried to lift the mood.

"He will do it. Won't let a good chinese go to rest." Ronnie chuckled.

The paramedic smiled as he returned to his work checking over Matts vitals. Ronnie watched him for a few moments and turned back to his phone.

Natalie and James had called him three of the five times. The last time was his daughter.

Matt's head was burning. As his eyes slowly opened, his vision became blurry as the lights hurt his eyes. His vision became a little more clearer as he realised where he was.

"Ron...Ron.. Ronnie?" Matt's voice asked quietly.

Ronnie's head had never moved so fast. Matts head was looking right at him with his big blue eyes also shining like they usually do.

"Matt." Ronnie smiled.

"What happened?" Matt asked, confused.

"You don't remember?"

"Not much. I remember lying on the floor but…" Matt began to cough heavily.

"It's okay. Get some rest." Ronnie said, patting his partner's shoulder.

Matt gave a weak nod as a response and closed his eyes again. Ronnie was just happy for those few moments, even if it was ages until they had a moment like that again.

The ambulance made its way carefully but quickly to the hospital, fighting traffic to get there with the young DS in the back.

Back at the scene Henry and Jacob were getting ready to deal with the press. The press were already writing everything down stuff that they were probably going to ask.

"I hope they're too hard on us." Jacob whispered.

"You haven't had one of these before have you?" Henry asked laughing.

"No I haven't. I have watched one though."

"And what happened?"

"The lawyers got slaughtered."

"Well there you go."

Jacob sighed as he remembered the last time he saw one of them. It wasn't outside a courthouse but it did involve police officers being hurt. He hated watching them squirm and now he had to do it.

"Ready?" Henry asked him.

"Nope." Jacob replied, shaking his head.

"Good." Henry said stepping towards the press gathered.

The press noticed this and crowded Jacob and Henry. Jacob wasn't ready for all of this but he needed to keep them away from the hospital and ask Ronnie and Alesha questions.

Questions came from every direction. Henry answered most of them with Jacob holding back and just being there for moral support. Plus as Henry was his senior he should take precedence.

Alesha and Kaden were stuck in traffic trying to get to hospital. Alesha was getting more and more agitated. Kaden was staring at his phone hoping for some news on Mr Devlin.

"Oh no." Kaden whispered.

"What's the matter?" Alesha tried to get her mind away from the traffic in front of her.

"The press. They're releasing stuff on the story."

"Don't read it." Alesha said, shaking her head.

Kaden did what she said and put his phone away. He didn't want to upset her or upset himself further. Kaden had so many questions that needed answers but Alesha was a little too emotional to ask so had to keep it to himself.

Alesha noticed there was something bothering him. She hated seeing anyone upset or hurt especially people close to her.

"What music do you like?" Alesha smiled at Kaden.

"What?" Kaden replied confused.

"For the radio. So we can keep our mind on something else for a few minutes."

"Radio 1." Kaden smiled and nodded.

"Good choice." Alesha smiled back.

Alesha turned on the radio hoping that the news didn't interrupt anything. Plus music could calm her down a little before she had to deal with what happened to Matt again.

As the music started up, the traffic started to move more quickly. Alesha sighed happily as black magic by Little Mix came on the radio.

"Thank goodness." Alesha whispered under her breath.

Kaden also smiled as they finally made their way to the hospital. Alesha knew that Matt and Ronnie would be mad if they were late even if Matt was probably unconscious when she got there. She knew he would be happier to know she was there.
