The doctor and the nurse were looking worried. This didn't make Ronnie and Alesha feel any better. It just made them feel even worse then they did already.

"How he's doing Doc?" Ronnie asked as he couldn't wait for the doctor to answer any longer.

The doctor took a deep breath in. Alesha had tears filling her eyes, she hated waiting. She always liked having the information there and then.

"Mr Devlin is out of surgery. We managed to stop the bleeding and we managed to close up the wounds."

Alesha gave out a loud sigh of relief. Ronnie hugged her close as they received this news.

"He's not awake yet but he's going to be awake tomorrow if you want to wait around." The Doctor said smiling.

"That's fine." Ronnie nodded relieved.

"When can we see him?" Alesha asked, holding back a lump in her throat.

"The nurses are tending to him right now but you can go in." The nurse with the doctor replied.

Alesha nodded as the doctor and the nurse headed out.

"Hey that's good news isn't it?" Ronnie said patting Alesha on the back.

Alesha just nodded. She didn't want to say anything just in case she made Ronnie upset by seeing her upset. Ronnie didn't mind this though as he was kind of used to not getting an answer from Alesha at first.

"I'm going to get a sandwich." Ronnie said going outside the room so that Alesha could make her own way to Matt.

"I'll leave you to see Matt." Natasha said putting her arm around Alesha.

"You sure?" Alesha managed to say.

"Yeah. Someone has to make sure Ronnie doesn't eat something that upsets his stomach." Natasha smiled.

Alesha wanted to go to Matt straight away but didn't seem to have the strength to get up to go to him. If she had Ronnie it might have been easier but now she had to have the right amount of braveness to go on her own.

She got off the seat and brushed herself off. She took a deep breath just to make herself a little bit more calm and composed to face Matt. Matt was unconscious but if she was going to talk to him she didn't want to mumble the whole time.

Henry and Jake were on their way to hospital. Luckily by the time they had finally made it to their car the traffic had pretty much cleared. Jake had been quiet since facing the press back at the crime scene. Henry had tried and failed to get him speaking again.

"I wonder if the others are there yet." Henry said looking at Jake as Jake drove to the hospital, hopeful for an answer this time.

"Yeah." Jake answered. That was the most he had said through the whole journey so Henry was satisfied with just that answer.

Just as Jake finished his very short answer, a car went racing by quickly followed by a whole squad of police cars. It literally looked like the whole Met were after this one car!

"I wonder what that car did wrong!" Henry chuckled as they raced past.

"That's one hell of a speeding ticket!" Jake also chuckled.

"He speaks!" Henry said laughing at this reaction from Jake.

Jake smiled at Henry. He knew he had to say something to keep the journey light especially as they were going to hospital. Henry was happy to see Jake feel good to say something.

"What do you think the police squad was for?" Henry asked Jake again for a proper answer this time.

"I don't know. Probably someone failing to stop or something." Jake answered.

"I'm so glad I'm not a cop." Henry laughed as the car kept going.

The car carried on going to the hospital going past traffic that were still stopped because of the police cars. Henry's phone rang and he picked it up to answer it.

"Henry." He said into the phone.

Jake kept his eyes on the road more as Henry was on the phone.

"Yeah. Yeah we're on our way now." Henry carried on.

Henry looked at his watch. Then back at the road.

"Yeah we'll be there. Oka calm down, we'll be there." Henry kept saying.

Henry then put the phone down and sighed. Jake turned his head a little as Henry ended the call. Henry was obviously bothered by this call and Jake really wanted to know what was going on now.

"What's up?" Jake asked concerned.

"Natasha, she keeps ringing me about being in the hospital. Saying we should be there by now." Henry answered with another sigh.

Jake could now see why Henry was so bothered. Natasha was lovely but sometimes she could be so annoying even though neither of the two men would tell her so.

"You told her we're nearly there then." Jake kept back laughter.

Henry didn't give an answer so Jake already knew that Henry didn't like that question. Jake kept driving hoping that the hospital was close so that he didn't have to deal with Henry's wrath a second more.

Alesha stood at the door of Matt's hospital room. She was still a little bit scared to go in. Ronnie came up behind her. Alesha already knew he was there so didn't really react.

"I don't think I can go in." Alesha said, turning to Ronnie.

"Yes you can. You love Matt and he loves you. You need to be together." Ronnie calmed her.

"I hope he does." Alesha said sort of smiling.

Ronnie saw this little smile. Even though it was little, it still counted and that's what mattered.

Alesha walked into the room with Ronnie following soon after. Ronnie got a seat at the back of the room and put his feet up on a table nearby. Alesha looked at him for comfort and then sat down next to Matt's bed.

Matt was bear chested with tubes coming out of him, his face was a little brighter then at the crime scene but huge purple rings under his eyes had now taken its place.

Alesha was a little bit taken aback by this but it was still the same Matt she knows so still sat next to him.

She moved some hair out of Matt's face so his face could be seen properly. Matt hated nothing more than hair being in his face when he didn't want it there. Alesha chuckled softly when she remembered this.

"He still looks twelve even if he is unconscious." Ronnie smiled from the back of the room.

"It seems to be his thing doesn't it." Alesha replied.

Ronnie sat back and admired the connection between Matt and Alesha. He had always had an idea that they liked each other more than friends and now it was confirmed!

"Has someone told his sister?" Alesha suddenly asked.

"We're trying to get a hold of her on her phone. I'm sure she'll be here soon." Ronnie nodded.

Alesha nodded back and then looked back at Matt. He looked so helpless lying there. She got onto the bed without any hesitation and lied next to Matt.

"I'll leave you two alone." Ronnie said quietly, leaving the room.

"Thanks Ronnie." Alesha said after him.

Alesha put her head against the pillow where Matt's head was. She really wanted to stay the night but knew it wasn't going to be allowed.

Ronnie met a nurse coming down the corridor towards Matt's room. She looked like she was on a mission but Ronnie still stopped her.

"Excuse me, are you nursing Matt Devlin?" Ronnie asked her.

"Yes I am." She replied with a little smile on her face.

"There's a young woman in there. Can she stay the night with Mr Devlin?" Ronnie asked.

"I don't think…."

"Please she loves him so much. I don't really want to separate them."

"Okay. I know it's against protocol but she can stay as long as she doesn't mess with any of the equipment." The nurse gave in.

"Thanks nurse."

The nurse smiled as she went into the room. Ronnie carried on to find some food or some grapes as they seemed to be very popular in hospitals.

Alesha had nearly fallen asleep when the nurse came in. The nurse went about checking on everything that was connected to Matt. Alesha was ready for the nurse to chuck her out but she didn't.

"How's he doing?" Alesha asked, yawing.

"Well. Better than most of us expected so soon after the surgery."

"That's good."

"Boyfriend?" The nurse said cautiously.

"I hope so in the future." Alesha answered the nurse.

The nurse nodded, finished her work and then went towards the door which confused Alesha quite a lot.

"You're not going to chuck me out?" Alesha asked the nurse before she left.

"No. The other cop who's walking around made your case to stay here tonight."

The nurse then left. Alesha smiled as she realised what Ronnie had done.

"Thanks Ronnie." Alesha whispered.

Alesha put her head down next to Matt's again and then fell asleep.
