Hi guys. So this is the last chapter. I hope you have enjoyed reading it. Thanks for reading. :)
Ronnie made his way quietly back to the room. He had a whole bag of grapes, a massive sandwich and two bottles of water. He found Natasha and Henry standing outside looking into the window. He walked towards them.
"Ronnie. That's a lot of food!" Henry chuckled as the DS approached him.
"I'm nervous. I nervous eat." Ronnie said with his mouth full.
"Yeah right." Natasha smiled.
"Matt awake yet?" Ronnie asked, licking his fingers.
"Not yet. I'm sure Alesha will tell us when he does." Henry said pointing into the room.
Ronnie peered in and saw Alesha asleep on Matt's bed. The group gathered outside, turned to each other and smiled. They all knew how close the two were and Alesha wasn't going to leave Matt's side for one moment.
"Where's Jake?" Ronnie asked.
"Getting some water. Then we're going to head out." Natasha said.
"Coming back tomorrow though." Henry reassured Ronnie.
Ronnies phone rang for the nineteenth time that day. He picked it up and smiled when he saw a picture come up on screen.
"Grandchild?" Natasha asked.
"Yeah. Just went to see them. Mother and child are doing great, so very happy grandfather right here."
"Very happy for you." Henry patted Ronnie on the back.
"Staying the night?" Natasha asked Ronnie.
"Yeah I asked the nurse and she said it was fine. Plus if Matty wakes up in the night he'll only want people he knows around him." Ronnie nodded heading towards the door.
"Have a goodnight." Henry said.
"Night Henry." Ronnie and Natasha said.
Henry waved as he went to find Jake. Natasha turned round to face Ronnie all by herself.
"How you holding up?" Natasha finally asked Ronnie.
"That's the first time someone has asked me that." Ronnie gave a little smile.
"And what's the answer?" Natasha kept asking.
"I'm fine. Knowing Matt is going to be okay makes it a lot easier." Ronnie answered.
"That's good to know."
"How are you holding up Ma'am?" Ronnie asked.
"Same as you Ronnie. They've caught the guys who did this." Natasha said happily.
"Thank God for that." Ronnie sighed thankfully.
"I'd better say goodnight." Natasha said, waving.
Ronnie nodded and waved back. He then entered the room again. He sat down in his chair and fell asleep as soon as he slumped down.

The next morning the sky and the clouds turned orange as the sun rose. It usually meant that it was a good day and everyone involved with Matt hoped it would be a good day.

Matt's head acked. He felt like he couldn't move it at all. His eyes slowly came to open as he blinked to get over all of the lights on him. He moved his head a little to see what was around him.
He saw Ronnie still asleep at the back of the room. Matt smiled even though it hurt it was nice to smile again.
He then turned his eyes so that he didn't hurt his head anymore. He saw a bunch of black hair and already recognised it.
He tried to speak but his throat hurt too much. There had obviously been a tube down it which made it feel so bad. His chest also hurt quite bad but he wasn't surprised as he had been hit by two bullets there.
He finally plucked up the courage to move his head and get to Alesha. He battled the pain in his throat and managed to say something.
"I hope you haven't been there all night." Matt whispered into Alesha's ear.
Alesha blinked her eyes open. It can't be! She swore she had just heard Matt's voice. She then felt a hand going through her hair carefully.
She had never moved so fast in her life. As soon as her head had moved she saw the blue eyes of Matt staring back at her. He smiled at her when their eyes met.
"Hey." Matt said weakly.
"Hey." Alesha responded holding Matt's hand.
Alesha kissed Mat's hand and held onto it like she was never going to let go.
"Careful." Matt chuckled.
"Would you two get a room?" Ronnie's voice came from the back of the room.
The two turned their heads and saw Ronnie sitting up looking at them. Matt smiled at his partner as they locked eyes again.
"I think we already have one." Matt joked.
Ronnie laughed a little when he heard Matt's voice again. Matt then looked back at Alesha.
"I'll go and get the nurse." Ronnie said leaving Alesha and Matt to talk without any interruptions.
Matt shook his head as Ronnie left. Alesha could all but smile as she saw the two partners happy again.
"I'm sorry." Matt said once Ronnie had gone.
"For what?!" Alesha chuckled.
"For getting into this mess." Matt sighed with a squint after.
"Don't worry about that. You're still here, that's the main thing." Alesha tried to change Matt's mood.
Matt couldn't disagree with Alesha much. He hated disagreeing with her and now wasn't the best time either.
"Help me up." Matt changed the conversation.
"Are you sure?" Alesha asked concerned.
"Alesha please. It'll be easier to talk." Matt smiled.
"It'll hurt." Alesha said, reaching for the button.
"Please Lesh?" Matt asked again.
Alesha got the button off of the wall, took a deep breath in and pressed the button slowly. She had to block out the quiet gasps coming from Matt as his bed raised.
"Better?" Alesha asked as she sat back down.
"Yes thank you." Matt smiled at her.
The machines around the couple started to beep louder as it was obvious the move had made a difference in Matt's body since being shot twice.
Two nurses came running in with Ronnie close behind. As soon as the nurses saw Alesha and Matt they shook their heads and then left everyone to it.
"They just wanted to check you were alright." Ronnie smiled as Matt looked a little confused.
"Well I think someone else is seeing to that." Matt said, holding Alesha's hand closely to him.
Ronnie took that at his cue to leave. He went down to see his grandson and daughter to make sure everything was alright. Matt and Alesha were left alone again.
"Do you remember anything that happened yesterday?" Alesha asked Matt once everyone had left.
"Not much. I remember being in the ambulance but that's about it." Matt said, trying to reassure her.
"I've got to say it again have I?" Alesha said chuckling.
"Say what?" Matt asked, smiling with his usual big smile.
Alesha looked straight into Matt's big blue eyes. Matt stared straight back at her.
"I love you." Alesha finally said.
Matt had a surprised look on his face. Alesha's hopes went down the drain as he looked at her that way.
"I love you too." Matt finally smiled.
Alesha nearly gasped for joy when she heard this. That was all she needed. She planted a kiss on Matts lips with no disagreement from Matt whatsoever.
"I've always loved you Alesha and until the end of my life, however far away that will be, I will always love you." Matt smiled.
Alesha shook her head and bent down to Matt. Matt and her nuzzled foreheads together and that was it. Their love was all they needed right now.
