Chapter 6

I frantically paced my room, hoping to Dumbledore my parents were fast asleep. Harry and Ginny Potter catching their wayward teen sneaking out again? That was definitely not an accusation I wanted- I couldn't risk letting them hear me leave. Dad was both a night owl and workaholic who got stuff done while everyone else was safely in bed. Weird, I know, but also an unfortunate combination for a teen like me who just wanted to meet my crush in secret. It was half an hour past midnight, now, and the door to my parents room had been shut approximately 45 minutes ago. I glanced at my window- was it time? I shook my head. No. I needed to be safer than last time. I slowly tiptoed over to my door and peeped my head out. The house was dark, and the door to my parents' bedroom was firmly shut. Perfect- I was safe to go.

The ride to Shell Cottage was familiar- it always had been. The forestry that Potter Manor subsided in quickly shifted into the sweet salty air I associated with Victoire. Beautiful, funny Victoire, who was probably sound asleep in her warm bed without even a thought of me. I sighed and leaned into my broom, pushing it to go faster. I couldn't let my doubts that something would go wrong win over. She was worth too much not to tell her how I felt.

I finally flew over the section of shoreline I knew the Weasley's resided in, and spotted her house. Pushing down the nerves I felt, I dipped into a dive aimed at Vic's window.

It was hard to believe I was here. After weeks fantasizing about telling her how much I liked her, how gorgeous she was, how perfect we would be, the task at hand suddenly felt impossible. But I was already here. At her window, fluffy pink curtains drawn.

I rubbed my neck, carefully hovering on my broom. It was now or never.

I gently knocked on the window a few times. A movement stirred in the room, and Victoire leaned from her bed to snatch the curtains open. Her eyebrows just about popped out of her head at the view of me.

Shit, shit, shit. Bad idea. What was I doing here again? Waking a poor girl up in the middle of slumber?

Victoire mouthed a confused 'Teddy?' before sleepily pushing herself out of bed and lifting the window. Even with bed head her hair perfectly framed her face- she looked as flawless as ever.

"Hi," I tried, offering a small smile.

She wiped the sleep out of her eyes, then settled by crossing her arms and staring me down. It occurred to me she was looking very much like Aunt Fleur. Rather scary, if you ask me.

"What the hell are you doing here, Teddy? It's near one in the morning!"

I gaped. This was not the reaction I was hoping for. Wouldn't she be excited to see me after so long of going without? "I know it's late. I know I probably shouldn't be here, but I've missed you so much. And I really have been meaning to talk to you!"

Now she was grabbing at a robe hanging on her wardrobe and tying it quickly onto her slender hips. "So it couldn't have waited until Sunday? That's in, like, two days, and I'll be ungrounded!"

This was not going as planned. "I couldn't wait any longer to talk to you. Can't you just hear me out? It's important." And it was. What if she had decided she liked some other boy in these two days? I couldn't gamble with that!

She lowered her voice even more, firmly placing both hands on the windowsill. "If my parents hear me up with some boy at my window, I'm dead meat. I'm already in enough trouble as it is. And it's inconsiderate of you to not even think that I could possibly get into more!" Victoire spun around and sat on her bed.

My heart dropped. I didn't mean to be rude. I just wanted to surprise her. And make her happy.

I clicked my tongue, wary of the angry girl in front of me.

"Vic, what if we went somewhere they can't hear you?" I suggested.

She looked at me, puzzled. "What?"

"The whole reason I came here was to talk to you. So let's go somewhere we can talk!"

"Teddy…" she murmured, carefully walking back to the windowsill.

"Please." I repeated. "Let's go for a walk on the beach. I just can't go any longer without getting this off my chest." I really couldn't. Knowing she was unaware of my feelings had my heart clawing at me from within. I had to get it out.

She stared at me, icy blue eyes meeting the gray I wore to resemble my first father. "Okay, let's go," she agreed. "Before I change my mind…"

I grinned. "That's what I thought you'd say."

Vic quirked an eyebrow at me to hide the small smile creeping in. "If we get caught…" she started.

"Don't even say that. We won't. I was really careful coming over and I plan on keeping it that way."

Victoire head my gaze for a second, then ruffled the curtains back shut. She popped her head back out the window a moment later. Evidently, she had changed out of her night dress and into some casual clothes- an old Muggle T-shirt and shorts that hugged her figure tightly.

I pinched myself to keep from staring. Victoire didn't seem to notice though, as she grabbed my offered hand and cautiously climbed out the window.

Even grabbing her hand sent a buzz of excitement through me. I shook the feeling off quickly, though, when I felt Vic's weight drop on back of the broom.

Her voice spoke up from behind me. "Get far from the house, quick. I don't want Maman waking up for a glass of water and mistakenly seeing us out for a one AM stroll."

I turned around. "Noted. And Vic?"

"Yeah?"

I took a deep breath."You look really pretty tonight." There. I said it. And she did- even half awake, her eyes were sparkling brightly with her fiery spirit. It was Victoire's personality that made her so irresistible to me. Not to mention she had the face of a model. That certainly didn't hurt, either.

She looked down, embarrassed. But she quickly met my eye again. "Thanks." Vic giggled. "I'm in my pajamas, though."

I shrugged. "Doesn't makes difference to me."

With that, I rapidly accelerated the broom into the night sky, the most gorgeous girl I knew squealing behind me. When we had finally gotten far enough along the shoreline from Shell Cottage, I dipped into a dive, landing safely on the sandy ground.

"You always go so fast!" laughed Victoire.

I shook my shaggy hair out from the wind, smiling. "Because I know it makes you laugh."

She blushed, but quickly recovered by bouncing her shoulder into mine. The move caught me off guard, and I promptly fell back to the ground.

Victoire burst into giggles but quickly stopped herself. "Oh my goodness, Teddy. I didn't mean to shove you that hard!"

I pretended to be annoyed, and extended a hand to her, asking with my eyes to kindly pull me up. She reached for it, but to her surprise, I had snatched her wrist and pulled her to join me on the sandy shoreline. Victoire shrieked.

Now I was the one laughing.

"Teddy Remus Lupin-Potter!"

I raised my eyebrows. "Oh really? All four names?"

She nodded, long hair bobbing onto the sand.. "Strictly reserved for when you act like a buffoon."

"You sound like my mother. I think buffoon is her favorite word, raising three boys," I challenged, grinning.

Victoire pulled herself to a sitting position on the sand. "Well, someone's gotta do be the adult one. Aunt Ginny isn't here, is she?" Her playful smile eliminated any chance she was being serious.

"Aunt Ginny would probably laugh at how sandy you are right now, Miss Victoire Gabrielle."

Victoire giggled and lightly slapped my arm. "I dunno how I'm gonna get all this gross sand off of me in the middle of the night without my parents knowing. That's all your fault."

I shrugged. "I'm certain there's a spell for it." I adjusted my hand behind my head and shifted my gaze to the starry sky. I felt Victoire do the same.

"You better hope. Otherwise I'm jinxing your hands together."

"I'd like to see you try."

We both laughed, a sound quickly dissolved into a moment of comfortable silence. The only thing surrounding us was the inky black of the night, peppered with stars and constellations and endless mysteries. The sound of the constant roaring waves was comforting. It always seemed so much louder at night than during the day.

"Teddy?" Victoire asked, almost in hesitation.

"What's up?" I asked, slowly turning onto my side so I could see her. The moonlight hit her face, highlighting her skin and button nose in the cutest way.

"You said you wanted to talk to me about something." She fiddled with the bracelet around her wrist.

Right. My whole point in gallivanting here in the middle of the night was to tell Vic how incredibly much I liked her. "Yeah, I did, actually." I pushed myself up from the ground and sat up, legs pointed straight in front of me.

"Well, what is it?"

I took a deep breath and felt my heart pick up. I had to tell her now. I couldn't wait any longer. I studied her face carefully, almost scared to say the words-

"I like you, Victoire."

She quickly sat up, mirroring me. "What?"

I gulped and started to trace stars in the sand. "I like you. Um, I have for a while."

Vic tilted her head and looked carefully at me, almost like the words she wanted to say were trapped in her mouth. "Teddy…"

This was probably a huge mistake.. "Look- I know you probably don't feel the same. But I had to tell you Vic." Her sympathetic, pitiful look was slowly killing me. "It's just- every time I look at you, I- I cant help but think you're the most beautiful girl. And how fun and amazing and hilarious you are. And I can't stop my feelings, and I can't make you feel the same, but I had to tell you. I just had to."

"Teddy," she repeated looking at me hard.

I shook my head. This was gonna hurt so badly and it was my fault for even bringing it up. "No, Vic. It's okay. I shouldn't have said anything." I dropped my chin, ashamed.

"Teddy!" Vic demanded.

I snapped my head quickly back up.

"What's your problem?" she said, a fierce look lighting her eyes.

"What?"

"Why do you assume I don't feel the same?"

My jaw dropped. She had feelings for some other bloke! Not me, the guy she thought of as a cousin, a childhood best friend. "Vic, you like someone else. I already know."

Her eyebrows raised. "But I don't. I like someone, yeah, but it's not someone else." She gently placed her hand on mine, sending electric currents through me. "I like you, Teddy Potter."

I glanced down at her delicate little hand, and flipped mine over to squeeze it. "You've liked me? This whole time?"

She nodded, a small smile creeping onto her face. "I have. I never thought in a million years you'd feel the same. I thought you saw me as a little sister."

"No. I can't ever even get you off my mind."

"Me either." Vic paused. "So it's true? I'm not just a little sister to you?"

I grinned. "Let's hope you're not like my little sis. Otherwise, what I'm about to do would be entirely inappropriate…"

And with that, I took the back of her neck and pulled in. Our lips met softly, my hand in her long blonde hair. It was the kind of conversation we'd never had before, something beautiful I had dreamed about doing but never quite expected to happen. The roar of the ocean suddenly echoed in the background of our new love story, the kind where she was all mine, the kind where Victoire Gabrielle was the only thing my lips truly knew.

I fingered my way through her long blonde hair softly, the sweet taste of her mouth egging me on. Vic pulled me in by the collar of my jacket, closer and closer, our kiss becoming rougher and rougher.

She pulled me over her, and I was straddled above her hips. My response was to press my lips into her more firmly, hands cradling her soft body into mine.

"Vic," I murmured.

"Y-yes?" she responded, pulling away from me and looking up with shining blue eyes.

"I'm just crazy about you."

Author's Note: Vic and Teddy kissed! Yay! I'm so happy they worked out. That last scene was a bunch of fun to write. Unfortunately, this is the end of this little story. I won't be able to update regularly for the foreseeable future, and this is where I originally planned to end anyway- our two love birds' first kiss! However, I still will be writing one-shots whenever I can squeeze writing into spare time. Please follow if you'd like to see what I post! They'll just be fluffy stories, maybe a funny one or even a discipline fic-something new I've always wanted to try. I haven't quite decided yet, so stay tuned! If you have any requests, please leave them in a review and I'll see if I can make it happen, I'd love to try. And, of course, tell me how you feel about this last chapter. I hope you loved it, have a great day y'all!
