Inuyasha hears the fight between Sesshomaru and Avalon as he sits by the dying embers of the fire. Everyone else has fallen asleep.
It is a one sided battle. The screaming made him get up and now he watches her hyperventilate into exhaustion. He jumps out of the trees just before she passes out and touches her shoulder. "Hey, are you okay?"
Avalon is shocked by the touch and takes a deep breath. Her eyes snap to his face. "Inuyasha?" she whimpers through trembling lips.
"What just happened?" Inuyahsa reaches down to help her stand.
Avalon tries to stand, but her legs are too weak and she ends up wrapping her arms around Inuyasha, crying into his shoulder. "He left me," she says in between her tears. "I love him and he left me," she whispers, confessing her feelings, feeling even weaker for it.
Inuyasha hauls her into his arms, bridal style and carries her back to camp. "Sorry," he says quietly. "I told you he was an asshole." He sets her down next to the fire and throws the robe of the fire rat over her shoulder. "Try to rest."
Avalon nods, trying to gain control of herself again. The tears refuse to stop, even as she falls asleep.
Kagome wakes first, rubbing her eyes and greets Inuyasha, who never fell asleep the night before. She sees Avalon sleeping alone and asks, "What happened?"
"He left her last night," Inuyasha says quietly, trying to not wake Avalon.
"Why?"
"I don't know," Inuyasha shrugs his shoulders. "Probably the same reason we don't trust her either."
Kagome sets about making breakfast, warming hot water and packing up the camp.
Shippo stretches as he wakes and sees Avalon. He can smell her tears. 'What happened?' He goes to Avalon and cuddles into her arms.
Avalon shifts and wraps her arms around Shippo. She pulls him tightly to her chest as tears start flowing again.
"What are we going to do with her?" Inuyasha asks.
"I don't know," Kagome says. "Maybe we should talk to her?"
Avalon finally wakes. She sees that Shippo is in her arms. "Thank you Shippo," she says quietly and kisses his hair.
"What happened Avalon?" Shippo asks, hugging her.
"He left me," she answers mournfully.
"Oh Avalon." Shippo hugs her tighter.
Avalon grabs the cloth covering her and sees Inuyasha's robe of the fire rat. She takes it in her other arm, then stands up. She walks over to Inuyasha and hands him the robe. "Thank you," she says sincerely, bowing her head to him
Kagome finishes making breakfast and then says quietly. "We still don't know we can trust you. You need to tell us more about you and then we'll decide."
Miroku yawns lazily, waking up to the smell of food.
"I understand," Avalon says, sitting back down. "I'm for the year 2019. I was brought to the Sengoku period about a year ago. When I arrived, I was attacked by five samurai. I was violated by one and I killed him while he was….Anyway, the other four didn't like that very much and intended to kill me. I was tied and bound to a tree. So I really didn't have much hope for survival. I stood up and looked them in the eye and said that I wanted to die on my feet. I guess that was when Sesshomaru decided to step in. He killed the four men and freed me from the tree. So you can see why I don't think of him as the bad guy."
Kagome covers her mouth in shock, while Inuyasha still sits with a stoic face. Miroku sits up rubbing his face and shaking his head. "The samurai of this time are despicable," Miroku says softly. "But that doesn't explain why you led him to us."
Avalon takes a deep breath. "Miroku, I...you're right." Her eyes become distant. "I...I want to put right what was wronged by me being here. If I wasn't here, if I hadn't interfered, Sesshomaru would have been coming after Inuyasha. Naraku would have approached him and offered a human arm with a jewel shard in it. Sesshomaru would have taken the offer for a chance to steal tetsusaiga. But me being here changed it. Naraku would never approach Sesshomaru now. And, Sesshomaru would never take the offer if he did. He would seek to kill Naraku for what he did to me." Her voice crestfallen.
Inuyasha's eyes roll. "If he cared that much he wouldn't have left you."
Avalon's head snaps at Inuyasha. Pain, then a coldness settles over her face. "Maybe you are right Inuyasha," she says monotonically "Maybe I have messed things up too much now." Her head head falls down staring at the ground.
Kagome stiffens her resolve enough to ask, "but none of this explains how you know the future. I'm from the future and I don't know what is going to happen."
"Where I am from there is a TV show and a manga called Inuyasha. I am a big fan. It helped me through a difficult time. But the show goes through your adventures. I ended up finding a purpose because of it. I became a translator. The author of the show is Rumiko Takahashi-"
"Rumiko Takahashi!?" Kagome blurts out. "I know her work. She wrote the Mermaid Saga! She was my mom's roommate in college. They turned this into a TV show?" Kagome squeals. "That's so cool!"
"TV?" Miroku and Shippo ask at the same time.
"Uh, it's a box that plays moving pictures and has sound. It's kind of like having a miniature play, right in front of you," Avalon says, trying to describe a TV in feudal Japan.
"Kagome has one of those. I watch soap operas with Ji-chan," Inuyasha says proudly.
"Strange…" Miroku contemplates it.
Avalon smiles at Inuyasha. "It is an interesting piece of technology, but in your time Rumiko is real?" She looks at Kagome in question.
"Yeah," Kagome answers. "We should talk to her! We could go back and see if my mom still has her information!"
"I would like to do that very much. I wonder why I'm not mentioned in the series. how does this even work?" Avalon rubs her temples trying to figure this all out.
"I don't know, but we could find out," Kagome offers. "Let's pack and go back." She nods at Inuyasha, Miroku and Shippo.
"Alright," Avalon says softly.
Kagome works quickly to pick up the camp. Avalon helps roll the bedding up. 'I miss Tenun,' she thinks sadly. Once everything is ready to go they head out.
Jaken lands on the steps with a half unconscious
Sesshomaru still clinging to Rin. Rin has been watching everything from behind Sesshomaru.
Jaken rushes to find the healer, leaving Sesshomaru on the dragon. 'Great another human,' Jaken pouts. He runs down the hallways, twisting and turning until he finds her in her room. "Chie-sama!" he calls entering quickly. "It's Sesshomaru-sama! He's been hit with Kaze no Kizu!"
Chie rises from her bed and rushes to the imp. "Where is he?"
"He's at the entrance on the dragon. Oh, he has a human girl with him. Where is Hikari?" He runs out of the hallways yelling, "Hikari!"
Chie runs down the hall, twisting along the corridor to find Sesshomaru. "Sesshomaru-sama!" she exclaims. She touches his body, feeling for any open wounds. "When were you hit by the kaze no kizu?"
He nods panting. "Find someone to take the child." He passes her over to Chie without waiting for acknowledgment.
Chie takes the young girl, who starts crying instantly. "Shhh, honey it's okay. Chie is here." She holds the young girl to her chest rocking her.
Rin shakes her head, "No!" she wails and tries to get out of her arms.
"What's wrong with her?" Sesshomaru asks, disliking the twinging the child's crying is causing him.
Chie looks over at him knowingly. "I think the girl is bonded to you."
Rin continues to cry and struggle.
"Another one," Sesshomaru mutters to himself angrily. "Give her to me." He holds his arm open. 'This is ridiculous.'
Chie moves closer, handing him the young child.
Rin instantly stops crying and wraps her small arms around his waist.
"What is her name Sesshomaru-sama?"
"Rin," he pushes himself off the dragon and begins the trek to his room. "Can you walk?"
Rin nods her head.
Chie repeats her question, "When were you hit?"
"Two days ago. Unless I am doomed for death, I'm going to my room. Tell Jaken to send Hikari. Perhaps Rin would like a friend." He sets the girl down and leans against the wall as he walks to his room.
"You forced yourself to heal," Chie accuses, following him.
Rin walks besides him, holding the cloth of his hakama
"And if I did?" he calls over his shoulder, leading the child to his room. "If I could manage to not be attacked while healing, this Sesshomaru would not have to expend so much energy." He slides the door to his room open and falls to his knees on the futon, wondering what the hell he is going to do with Rin. He pushes himself onto the pillows, removing his armor and katana, flopping on his back.
Chie shakes her head. "You will be in pain. I will retrieve more vials for you."
Rin climbs next to Sesshomaru and cuddles into the side of his chest.
"Will the girl be safe?" Chie questions.
"From who?" Sesshomaru scoffs. "Send for Hikari and Doumaru to come take her."
Chie wants to roll her eyes. "Hai, my Lord. Rest while I am gone." Chie exits the room, heading for her own to get several of the vials. 'Where is his mate?' She runs into a servant. "Find Hikari and Doumaru and send them to Sesshomaru-sama's room."
The young servant bows his head and runs off, following his nose to find the young children.
Chie slides her door open and collects the vials and places them in a pouch. She turns around, closing her shoji door and walks back to Sesshomaru's room.
The servant finds Hikari and Doumaru playing in the gardens. "Young Lord and Lady, Sesshomaru-sama requires your presence in his room." He smiles kindly at the children.
Doumaru stands up proudly. "Come mate, Sesshomaru-sama is very important." He holds his little hand out to Hikari.
Hikari smiles, grabbing his hand. "Arigato Saibansho. Lets go to see Sesshomaru-sama. I'm so excited to see Avalon!"
Doumaru leads her at a quick pace to Sesshomaru's room. Before they reach the doors, his nose wrinkles. "She is not there." He knocks on the door.
"Enter," Sesshomaru calls.
Hikari looks slightly confused but allows Doumaru to lead her into the room. She sweeps her eyes around. "Sesshomaru-sama where is Avalon-sama?"
Sesshomaru's face remains placid. "With friends," he says quietly. "Rin, would you like to meet new friends?"
Doumaru gazes at Sesshomaru quizzically and pulls Hikari's shoulder down. "I smell salt. She was crying and she is not here." He keeps his voice barely audible, hoping Hikari hears him.
Rin shakes her head and then curls back into his chest.
'Will I never be rid of females crawling on me?' He strokes her hair, attempting to comfort her. "Hikari and Doumaru will take you to play."
"You made your mate cry," Doumaru paces the room with his nose in the air and hands behind his back. "I am a better mate than you. I do not make my female cry."
Sesshomaru flicks his whip at the child's ear, hitting its mark.
Hikari looks at Sesshomaru with hard eyes. "WHAT DID YOU DO TO AVALON-ONESAN?!" she screams at him. "You lied! You said she was with friends! What happened to her? Did you abandon her again?" Hikari fumes.
"She is with friends," he says more firmly, peeling Rin off his leg and giving her a good push to Hikari. "Go find her something nice to wear."
"She stinks," Doumaru plugs his nose. "Come child, you will take a bath with Jaken Jr...she also stinks." Doumaru grabs Rin's hand and tugs her out of the room.
Hikari stays in the room crossing her arms. "Tell me what happened?!" She taps her foot impatiently fuming. 'He made Avalon cry again.'
He closes his eyes, waving her off with his hand, refusing to answer to a child.
"I'm not going anywhere. I will drive you insane, unless you tell me what happened!" Hikari starts pacing the room.
Sesshomaru grits his teeth, forcing himself up. He limps over to Hikari, taking her by the arm, and forces her out of the room, slamming the door behind her and then holds the door shut.
Hkari pounds on the door with her fist. "I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR ME SESSHOMARU! DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA DA BA BA BA BA BA BA BA BA I'M NOT LEAVING! DA DA DA DA DA DA…" Hikari continues making loud obnoxious noises.
He smiles to himself, seeing Hikari in good spirits makes his chest warm, which then makes his stomach warm, which makes him think of Avalon and suddenly... "Great," he slides down the wall, still holding the door closed with an uncomfortable rod in his hakama. 'Maybe I will call for Ainu,' but the thought repulses him and to his dismay so does any other female he tries to think about. He shutters his eyes, attempting to force his body to calm itself. 'She'll wear herself out eventually,' he thinks of Hikari.
Hikari tries something else. She screams a soprano note as loudly as she can. "AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH."
Doumaru comes around the corner rubbing his ears. "You are hurting my ears mate and the little girl is crying. I do not know what to do with her. You will come with me and make her happy." He takes Hikari's wrist to lead her away. "She smells funny, not wonderful like you."
"But Sessshomaru-sama never told me what happened," She laments as Doumaru leads her away.
"He made her cry," he says simply. "He is good at making girls cry."
"I know, but I want to know why." She shakes her head sadly.
Inuyasha and everyone travel for the day, heading to Keade's but it was getting late and the sun was setting. They set up camp and went to sleep to start fresh in the morning.
Avalon wakes stiffly. Her eyes feel dry. She remembers what happened between her and Sesshomaru and is about ready to cry again. She slaps her face loudly. 'Stop crying! You're stronger than this!' she chides herself. The slap wakes the group. She shakes her head, clearing the sorrow and tries to concentrate on what comes next. She looks at the group and only sees Kagome sitting across from her. The fire has died out. All that is left are black ashes and charred wood. "They went to find something for breakfast. Um...do you want to talk?" Kagome asks her sympathetically.
Avalon shakes her head, then nods and then shakes her head again. "I'm not sure Kagome."
Kagome exhales, shrugging her shoulders. "I'm sorry...I kind of feel like it's our fault that he left you. He's such a jerk."
Avalon snorts at the comment of him being a jerk. "I keep messing up Kagome. It's not your fault. It's mine." She sighs. "I just don't know how to talk to him."
Kagome only chuckles. "Try being trapped between the guy and his former lover." Kagome stands up dusting herself off. "I really like him and all he can think about is her."
"Imagine being stuck in a castle surrounded by his former lovers and he won't get rid of any of them and they all want you gone." She shakes her head, sadly.
"Men are idiots," Kagome surmises. "That's it. They're all stupid and these two have the same father, so it has to be his fault."
"I'm really sorry Kagome. I know I broke your trust. I will try to regain it," Avalon says, genuinely.
"Well, I guess it will just take time. How did you get here anyway?"
"It's the oddest thing. I put a DVD in of the Inuyasha series to watch and then I just got sucked into the TV." Avalon's face contorts with confusion. She still didn't understand why or how it happened.
Kagome thinks to herself. "That's so weird. At least you weren't sucked through by a creepy centipede who tries to kiss you and smash her boobs on you. You don't want to go back? You could just go through the well and relive your life. You don't have to stay."
"I would have preferred the centipede. Getting raped and going to be executed. Yup, centipede. I can't go back through the well to live. I'm from 2019. It's 1996 through the Well. I'm alive in Illinois right now. I have no idea what the implications of two Avalon's in one world would be. And since I am bonded to Sesshomaru, I have to return to him."
"Bonded?"
"Hai, me and Sesshomaru are connected. It isn't romantic. It's more instinctual. We both experience an unquenchable desire for each other. We need to make love periodically or we will both go crazy more or less. I'm not sure what else is truly meant by it, but it was an accident. He never meant to bond me. He was only trying to save my life," Avalon finishes softly.
Kagome covers her mouth at the word make love and flushes bright red. "I wonder if that's what happened to Inuyasha and kikyo and no...no...ewwww mental pictures!" She shrieks covering her eyes. "Eewwww!" Kagome shudders. "Nope don't want to think about it! You really did….that...with Sesshomaru?"
"Don't think about it Kagome." Avalon shrugs, not answering her. "When do you think the guys will be back with food?"
"Hopefully soon." Kagome shifts uncomfortably. "You don't know more about Naraku do you? Inuyasha started clamming up after Kikyo was brought back."
"I was his prisoner for months. I know a lot about him. Ask me anything."
"Oi!" Miroku waves his hand from afar with a pile of food on a platter.
"Are you comfortable talking in front of them?" Kagome asks Avalon as Inuyasha, Miroku and Shippo finally return from the village, with a platter of fish, rice and vegetables.
"It doesn't bother me one way or the other." Avalon shrugs. "Some things I wouldn't want to say in front of Shippo though."
Kagome's face drops downcast. "He's seen and heard a lot already. This time, it's darker than what the history books say, especially for children."
Miroku sits down satisfied with the platter. "All we had to do was get rid of a demon."
"A demon you lied about!" Inuyasha growls and sits down. "Eat."
Avalon nods and grabs a pair of chopsticks. "Arigato." She picks at the rice and vegetables, slowly chewing each bite.
"Avalon was just going to tell us everything about Naraku," Kagome eyes Inuyasha nervously. "So who is he? Why does he want the Shikon no Tama?"
Avalon swallows her food. "Well he was a normal human once. His name was Onigumo. He coveted the jewel and Kikyo." She grabs another bite, chews and swallows. "He was badly burned and both his legs were shattered. You fought him Inuyasha. He tried to take the jewel from Kikyo but you stopped him easily." Avalon shrugs, grabbing another bite and chewing then swallowing. "Kikyo found him and nursed him in a cave. He was immoble and she figured he would never move and would die in the cave eventually. I don't know why she chose to keep him. Kikyo's powers waned with her love for you Inuyasha. Many demons passed by her barrier because they sensed Onigumo's dark desires and black heart."
Inuyasha listens quietly, not touching his food.
"They gathered before him and offered him their strength and he offered them his soul. His desire was so great to have Kikyo. However as soon as they had his soul and body, his wants were locked away."
Inuyasha's face hardens and his teeth grind together. "Kikyo," he says in a whisper.
"The new being was named Naraku. He watched Inuyasha and Kikyo. When you promised to become human for her he set a plan into action. He came to Kikyo that night disguised as you Inuyasha, asking her to change him immediately. Kikyo thought it was cute that you were being so impatient but she explained that it could not happen at night but she would do it at first light. She waited for you when Naraku attacked her, slashing her shoulder open and taunting her that she was a fool and the jewel was going to absorb a great deal of pain as he destroyed the village." Avalon sighs as tears fall from her eyes. She quickly wipes them away. "Naraku placed the jewel back in the shrine and then came after you Inuyasha dressed as Kikyo." Avalon shakes her head. "You know the rest. He has a spider on his back."
"How horrible," Kagome covers her mouth and tries to put a hand on Inuyasha's shoulder but only notices now that he is missing. "Where did he go?"
Avalon lets reiki flare out, sensing his aura.
"Ahhh!" Shippo screams at the energy, ducking into Kagome's arms. "Don't burn me!"
Avalon smiles. "It won't hurt you, Shippo. Is it burning you now?"
Shippo shakes his head.
"Reiki isn't always harmful. I was only looking for Inuyasha. Speaking of which, he is that way." Avalon points into the trees to the left.
Kagome smiles, while bowing lightly and goes to find Inuyasha.
Kagome comes back with Inuyasha and they all pack up camp and head out. They race to Kaede's village. They make it to the well as the sun is setting. "You stay here Inuyasha," Kagome tells him.
"Why? I don't trust her completely yet," Inuyasha argues.
"Girl talk and she doesn't want to talk about her experiences with you. Stay or I'll make you sit," Kagome threatens him, but it's already too late. Inuyasha face plants, cursing. "I'm sorry!" Kagome leans over him. "Good boy. You stay."
"I'm not a dog Kagome!" Inuyasha complains.
'No, they have better manners.' Kagome smiles and waves. "Come on Avalon."
Avalon waves shyly at Inuyasha, Miroku and Shippo. "We'll be back," she says, jumping into the well. The black and purple light twists about until she touches down gently on the bottom of the well in modern Japan. "It stinks here," she comments, holding her nose.
"I get overwhelmed sometimes too, going from there to here. But at least random men don't try to attack you. There are days I wonder what would happen if Inuyasha and Miroku weren't with me. But then Miroku isn't exactly prince charming." They climb out of the well together. "Mom is probably home."
"Yeah, you're lucky. He may be a perv but I don't see him ever taking someone against their will. Just copping a feel here and there." She climbs up the ladder behind Kagome. "I wonder how Inuyasha tolerates the smell. He has such a superb ability to smell."
"I don't know. I've never asked. Although sometimes I see him breathing through his mouth instead." Kagome leads her into her home. "Mom! Mom!" she calls, searching for her mother from room to room.
"Oh hello dear. I'm in the living room," her mother calls happily. She comes walking into the kitchen. "Oh, Avalon how are you dear?"
Avalon bows her head. "I'm alright I suppose."
Mrs. Higurashi looks at Avalon intently. "You don't look so well. Come have a seat." She pulls out a chair for Avalon to sit in.
Avalon takes the seat. "Thank you," Avalon whispers.
"Kagome dear, you're back sooner than I expected. What happened?"
"Well. Mom you roomed with Rumiko right?" Kagome starts massaging her temples. "This is so complicated."
"What is?" Her mother offers Kagome a chair as well. "Tea?" She puts a tea kettle on to boil.
"Momma," Kagome starts again. "Avalon is from the future, farther in the future than me and she said that Rumiko Takahashi wrote a story called Inuyasha." She waits for her mother to latch on to what she just said.
Her mother takes a seat next to Avalon. "Rumiko wrote about Inuyasha?" confusion laces her voice. "And you're from the future?"
Avalon nods her head.
"Well Rumiko always was creative and she did say she would one day write her family's tale, but she never told me what it was about." She rubs her eyes trying to figure out what else to tell her daughter. "You don't think she is related to Inuyasha do you?" she wonders aloud.
"I don't know. You don't happen to like...have her number? Do you still talk?" Kagome asks her mother, still feeling stressed and confused. "Why wouldn't she put Avalon in and how does she know about me?"
"I'm sorry dear, after college we drifted apart and we lost contact. I don't even know if her family story is about Inuyasha. I'm only trying to fit the pieces together."
"I don't know what I can do to help prove this," Avalon mumbles.
"Momma, can't you try to contact her publishers? If you asked to talk to her about it, wouldn't she?" Kagome begs her mom. "Please?"
"Of course I'll try." Her mother reaches out and grabs her daughter's hand giving it a squeeze. "Are you two hungry?"
Avalon shakes her head, frustrated that she can't figure out how to prove anything.
"She lives in Tokyo," Kagome says stubbornly. "And the publishers are in Tokyo." Kagomes's eyes widen. "Avalon, what if we just went to the building and tried to get in? Even if we can't, Inuyasha could get us past security! We should do it!"
Avalon looks at Kagome with a raised brow. "I think Inuyasha has influenced you too much."
"Don't act like you aren't at all curious how she would know and not put you in the story!" Kagome argues back. "We could do it. If they don't let us in to talk to her, we can just let Inuyasha get in. She'd talk to him. She couldn't resist. How else would she write the story?"
"Or we could get arrested. But we could try just going normally and seeing if she would answer to a Kagome Higurashi calling her," Avalon suggests.
"Fine you be a lump, I'm going to downtown Tokyo." Kagome kisses her mom on the cheek. "I'll be back later!" She runs out the door.
"I'll try to keep her out of jail," Avalon says glumly, following Kagome.
Mrs. Higurashi giggles. "Thanks dear."
Avalon runs out after Kagome. "Wait up!"
"I thought you didn't want to come," Kagome says jogging to get to the metro.
"I want to but I'm just worried," Avalon says, catching up to her.
Kagome leads Avalon onto the subway and they sit and watch the scenery go by. "The offices are probably starting to close. But if I can get a message, or at least try. You aren't at all curious why you aren't in it? Especially if you are with Sesshomaru. Why did she leave that out? Did you have kids? Does he ever love you? You aren't curious?"
"He'll never love me," Avalon says just above a whisper, darkness permeates her heart.
Kagome folds her arms. "You don't know that. I thought he would rather die than you know...with a human and before he was mad at you. I don't know, he was different, softer. Maybe it just takes time," Kagome says distantly as if she is encouraging herself. "He and Inuyasha are more alike than they know."
"I hope so. Let's go. Maybe we will get lucky," she says with some hope in her voice.
The train comes to a stop and Kagome tells Avalon about downtown Tokyo, pointing out different tourist hot spots. She tells her about her friends and how it's sometimes hard to adjust to coming back to this life. They make it to the office building. The lights are still on. People mill in and out. "Well, it looks like it's still open."
Avalon smiles, grabbing her hand. "Let's hurry," she says and jogs to the door. She opens the door for her and Kagome. There is a man behind a desk with a friendly smile on his face.
"Can I help you two young ladies?" the gentleman asks.
"Yeah we wanted to speak to Rumiko Takahashi," Avalon says with a smile on her face.
"Fans of hers. I'm sorry but she doesn't take guests," he says politely.
"I'm not a fan," Kagome says and purses her lips. "My name is Higurashi Kagome," she says quickly. "If we can't speak to her can you give her a message? Please? It's about her future project Inuyasha."
The man looks at the young woman curiously "I can certainly take a message for you Miss Higurashi, but I am not sure it will matter." He offers Kagome a notepad and a pen.
"Thanks," Kagome takes the pen and paper and starts writing. "What should we write? Can you draw? What if we put a picture of Inuyasha in?"
"I can draw and paint," Avalon says. "How about I draw Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. You can write that you are Kagome Higurashi and you want to know more about how she knows what she does, I guess." Avalon shrugs.
"Okay," Kagome says and starts writing while Avalon draws a picture of Inuyasha. "Do you think he'll really make sure she gets it?"
Avalon looks up from her work. "I don't see why he would lie," she says as she goes back to drawing Inuyasha clashing swords with Sesshomaru with two arms. Tetsusaiga is black and starry vs. Bakusaiga. She hopes the futuristic picture will grab Rumiko's attention. Once done with the picture, she hands it to Kagome.
Kagome takes the picture and gives it back to the man at the desk. She writes her name, her contact information and her mother's name on it. "I hope this works."
"I will have this delivered for you ladies." The man stops when he glimpses the picture. "Miss you are quite talented. Has anyone offered you a career?"
Avalon shakes her head.
"I think Takahashi will enjoy seeing your work," he says.
"Thank you," Avalon says bowing.
"Your name isn't on your work?" he asks curiously.
Avalon walks up only writing, Avalon, along the bottom.
"Thank you," Kagome says with a meek smile and a small bow. "Let's go. Mom will tell us if she ever gets it." She threads her arm through Avalon's. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," Avalon says distantly, letting Kagome lead her along. "I never thought of drawing for a career."
"Maybe after all this is over you could. Except you're going to be stuck with him. If it's just yoki can't you purify it? Have you tried? We could do it together?"
Avalon stops in her tracks and grabs Kagome around the shoulders. "That is the worst thing to do. I tried, it was bad, really bad. He...he...he...became rabid, more dangerous than anything. No, I will never try that again," her voice is dark and desperate.
"Rabid he can be rabid?" Kagome wonders befuddled. "I mean he's a jerk, but not like he loses control."
Avalon shakes her head. "He had no control, Kagome. He nearly killed me. He...NO, just no," Avalon refuses to tell her that he nearly raped her. "Just drop it."
"Okay, I'm sorry." Kagome walks away from Avalon, rubbing her arm nervously. "Um...do you mind if we stay tonight? I need to study."
"Yeah, I'll help you with what I can," Avalon says, calming down now that Kagome wasn't pushing her anymore.
A/N Please continue to read and enjoy my story. Elonhiniar has been a great help with everything. She is my editor and coauthor. Stay safe and please leave a review this is my first fanfic and I would love feed back.
itzatakahashi- I think Sesshomaru is being some what stubborn and Avalon isn't being completely open with him so they are both messing shit up but you will just have to wait and see where it all leads. Thanks for the review.
