Chapter 4
Neddie and Andrea continued sitting on the couch.
"Kyle's been in the restroom for an awfully long time," Andrea said.
"He went home," Neddie said.
"Oh," Andrea said.
Meanwhile, Kyle got out of his car and entered his house. He noticed Kip asleep on the couch and lightly tapped him on the shoulder.
"Dad," Kyle said.
Kip woke up and looked at Kyle.
"You're back," Kip said.
"Finally," Kyle said.
"How was it?" Kip asked.
"Awful," Kyle said. "I hate dress shopping."
"Me too," Kip said.
Kyle sat beside his father.
"Mandy still hasn't picked out her dress, so I came home," Kyle said.
"I would too," Kip said.
"Thanks for watching Kylie," Kyle said.
"You're welcome," Kip said.
Kevin and Kaleb entered the house.
"Hey," Kyle said. "How was the party?"
"Oh," Kevin said. "It turned out to be a make-out party."
Kyle eyes got wide.
"A make-out party?" Kyle asked.
"I immediately called Kaleb to pick me up and waited outside on the porch," Kevin said.
"And Scammer?" Kyle asked.
"We had a fight and he stayed at the party," Kevin replied.
"Oh," Kyle said.
"Dad?" Kevin asked. "Did you ever go to make-out parties?"
"Did I ever!" Kyle exclaimed.
Kip looked at Kyle.
"I mean, no," Kyle said nervously.
"I'm going to bed," Kevin said, walking upstairs.
"Me too," Kaleb said, following Kevin.
Later that night, Scammer stood outside throwing pebbles at a bedroom window.
"Kevin!" Scammer shouted, throwing pebbles. "Kevin!"
The window opened and Kyle stuck out his head.
"Other side of the house, Haskell," Kyle said.
Scammer went into the back yard and began throwing pebbles at another window.
"Kevin!" Scammer hollered. "Kevin!"
The window opened at Kylie stuck out her head.
"Wrong window," Kylie said.
Kyle walked out the back door, grabbed Scammer, dragged him inside to Kevin's room, and woke Kevin up.
"Kevin," Kyle said. "Talk to Scammer so he'll stop throwing rocks at the windows."
Kyle walked out and Kevin looked at Scammer.
"What do you want?" Kevin asked.
"Look," Scammer said. "I feel bad for what I said to you."
"Good," Kevin said. "You hurt my feelings."
"I'm sorry," Scammer said. "It's just, I really wanted to be a part of the cool group."
"They're not very nice people," Kevin said.
"Tell me about it," Scammer said. "After you left, Carl's parents came home early and called everyone's parents. My dad grounded me for a month. I had to wait until he was asleep to sneak over here."
Scammer looked at Kevin.
"Can you ever forgive me for how I treated you?" Scammer asked.
"Yes," Kevin replied.
Scammer and Kevin shared a hug.
"You tell anyone we hugged, and I'll pound you," Scammer said.
