Frisk and Chara set off after Frisk had healed herself with the monster food, passing by large piles of accumulated garbage most of which was just junk. They soon came across a save point that Frisk promptly used. While Frisk was saving, Chara looked around and watched a tin can float towards the nearby waterfall. Frisk finished saving and watched the can with Chara as it floated over the waterfall and fell into the bottomless depths below.
Frisk and Chara turned away from the waterfall and rounded a corner, at the end of the short corridor they could see more piles of trash and a doorway at the far wall. As they moved towards the exit they passed by a few discarded items including a bent bicycle, an old empty computer tower, a portable cooler that had a few freeze-dried space food bars in it, which Frisk took and placed in her inventory, and an old training dummy.
As Chara and Frisk moved towards the exit the old training dummy suddenly appeared, floating, in front of them. Chara gasped in surprise but Frisk didn't even flinch.
The dummy looked angry as it laughed, "Hahaha! It's just like you to run away. I am a ghost that lives inside a DUMMY. My cousin used to live inside a DUMMY, too. Until... YOU CAME ALONG! Not only did YOUR actions cause them to leave their home, but now all of their neighbors are gone, too! Despicable. Despicable! DESPICABLE!"
The dummy's cloth was now red as it began shouting, "You're the worst person I've ever met! I've NEVER been more mad! Guoooooooohhhh! My mannequin levels are OFF THE CHARTS!"
Suddenly the dummy's cloth went back to normal in an instant.
After a brief pause the dummy said, "This... This feeling... Eureka. Eureka! EUREKA!" It shouted as a smile appeared on it's face.
"Human. That moment of unbridled emotion. It allowed me to finally fuse with my body! I'm fully corporeal now! My lifelong dream, realized! In return, I guess I won't stomp you. How's that sound?"
Frisk said nothing as she raised her knife and slashed the dummy into pieces. Chara only watched as the dummy's cotton puffed out of the gashes Frisk had made. Frisk walked towards the exit with Chara floating silently behind her. They entered a cavern that had a save point which Frisk used immediately. Chara wished Undyne would find them soon, she wanted this nightmare to end.
Chara was pulled out of her thoughts as she realized that Frisk had moved into a small hallway, pulling her along without her realizing. Frisk passed by what looked like a small shop in the rock wall, but didn't go inside. As they traveled deeper into Waterfall, they entered a mushroom forested area. Here there were large slim mushrooms that were as tall as saplings, as well small mushrooms that glowed when you touched them. Chara remembered that she and Asriel came to this part of the Underground often to play with the Temmies, strange monsters that resemble cats, with dog ears on the sides of their heads, as well as their normal cat ears, shoulder length black hair, and they all wore blue shirts.
Frisk walked from mushroom to mushroom, touching them as she went, lighting up the path a little more with each one. Chara was surprised, as Frisk didn't even pause once they had entered the forest. It was as if Frisk had seen this before, but that was impossible. They entered a cavern at the edge of the forest. Inside was another maze-like path, all along the path were several lanterns and purple crystals.
Chara had seen these crystals before. They were magic and would make whatever area they were in darker by absorbing the light. The only way to brighten the room again and take the light back from the crystals was to illuminate a new light source, hence the lanterns. But again, Frisk didn't falter, she didn't even take a wrong turn. It was as if she knew the maze like the back of her hand.
They reached the end of the maze and started to move forward but, as they did so it got darker and darker, until Chara could only see herself and Frisk. They soon encountered a lone Echo Flower.
As soon as Frisk got close it said in a voice Chara couldn't recognize, "Behind you."
The light suddenly returned as Chara and Frisk both turned around to find Undyne, in her shining full body armor, blocking the way. Frisk stood there unfazed as Chara looked between the two.
"Seven. Seven human souls." Undyne said menacingly. "With the power of seven human souls, our king, King Asgore Dreemurr, will become a god. With that power, Asgore can finally shatter the barrier. He will finally take the surface back from humanity, and give them back the suffering and pain we have endured. Understand, human? This is your only chance at redemption. Give up your soul, or I'll tear it from your body."
Chara held her breath, this was finally it, this is where all of the meaningless death and bloodshed finally ends. Frisk tightened her grip on her knife as Undyne summoned a spear in her hands and prepared to charge at her. Suddenly, Monster Kid jumped out of some nearby tall grass standing between Frisk and Undyne.
"Undyne! I'll help you fight!" Monster Kid shouted excitedly before looking at Undyne, who had frozen in place, and Frisk, who strangely didn't look surprised at all.
"YO! You did it! Undyne is RIGHT in front of you!" Monster Kid told Frisk with a big smile. "You've got front row seats to her fight!" Monster Kid looked between the two again and said, "...wait. Who's she fighting?"
Undyne dispelled her spear and grabbed Monster Kid by the ear, dragging him away from Frisk back towards the dark crystal maze.
"H-hey! You aren't gonna tell my parents about this, are you?" Monster Kid said as they disappeared into the maze.
"That kid really needs to find a new hobby." Chara remarked as she shook her head.
Frisk said nothing as she followed after them and took a north path they didn't see in the darkness earlier. This water logged path had several silent Echo Flowers and a save point at the end. The path itself ended with a right turn to the east. Frisk saved and made her way to the next area, and began crossing a wooden bridge.
Before they could make it to the other side however, a voice said, "Yo!"
Surprised, Chara and Frisk turned around and saw that Monster Kid had followed them. Monster Kid walked up to them with a troubled look.
"Yo. Undyne told me to stay away from you." Monster Kid said to Frisk. "She said you... you hurt a lot of people. But, yo, that's not true, right?!"
Frisk didn't say anything and turned to leave, but Monster Kid said, "Yo... Why won't you answer me? A... a... and what's with that weird expression...?"
Frisk suddenly turned around and Chara saw a smile on her face, but it was not a kind smile. That smile would have froze her heart with fear were it still beating. Frisk took several steps toward Monster Kid, forcing him to back up with a frightened look on his face.
"Oh... Oh man..." Monster Kid said before whispering, "Man, my h-heart's pounding right out of my chest... What would Undyne do?"
Monster Kid tired to put on a brave face and said, "Yo. Y-you'd b-better st-stop r-right where you are... Cause if you w-wanna hurt anyone else... you're... You're gonna have to get through me, first. A... and... and..."
Chara's eyes went wide as Frisk's SOUL suddenly floated out of her chest as she entered a FIGHT with Monster Kid.
"Frisk! What are you doing?!" Chara said her voice panicked. "He's just a kid!"
"In my way." Frisk replied and, with a cold smile, pressed the FIGHT button and attacked Monster Kid.
"Frisk NO!" Chara cried.
Suddenly out of nowhere, Undyne appeared and pushed Monster Kid out of the way, taking Frisk's attack instead, reducing her HP to zero in an instant. Undyne grunted in pain as the attack connected, a look of shock on her face.
"Undyne... You're... You're hurt..." Monster Kid said on the verge of tears.
"Hurt? It's nothing." she said with a pained look on her face. "Next time, listen when I tell you to leave, okay?"
"Undyne... I..."
"I'll take care of this! Get out of here!"
Monster Kid obeyed and ran back towards Snowdin.
Once Monster Kid was gone Undyne said, "... Heh... It's nothing... No... Somehow, with just one hit... I'm already... Already... D... Damn it..."
Undyne's body began to disintegrate into dust as Chara watched trying to hold back her tears.
"Papyrus... Alphys... Asgore..." Undyne said weakly as her body began to deteriorate further. "Just like that, I... I've failed you."
Chara choked out a sob as Undyne's dust began to scatter.
"... No..." Undyne said to both Frisk and Chara's surprise as her dust began to regather and reform her body. "My body... It feels like it's splitting apart. Like any instant... I'll scatter into a million pieces. But... Deep, deep in my soul. There's a burning feeling I can't describe. A burning feeling that WON'T let me die. This isn't just about monster's anymore, is it? If you get past me, you'll... You'll destroy them all, won't you? Monsters... Humans... Everyone... Everyone's hopes. Everyone's dreams. Vanquished in an instant. But I WON'T let you do that. Right now, everyone in the world... I can feel their hearts beating as one. And we all have ONE goal. To defeat YOU. Human. No WHATEVER you are. For the sake of the whole world... I, UNDYNE, will strike you down!"
Undyne began to glow brighter and brighter until Chara and Frisk had to cover their eyes. When it finally died down, Undyne stood there completely unharmed. Her suit of armor had changed, it was now black and had spiked shoulder guards, white gauntlets, and a large white heart on the chestplate.
Chara could hardly believe her eyes as Undyne said, "You're gonna have to try a little harder than THAT."
Frisk smiled as she pressed FIGHT and swung her knife as hard as she could, striking Undyne. The attack only brought her HP down by a small amount. Frisk looked surprised as Undyne swung her spear, sending a wave of light at Frisk's SOUL. Frisk's SOUL turned green and a shield appeared on her right arm. Chara recognized this as SOUL magic, a very rare type of magic that few people could use. SOUL magic, depending on the color, would set certain rules that the owner of the SOUL would have to follow. The green type would force Frisk to stand still but would allow her to defend herself with the provided shield.
Undyne summoned several spears that all began to fly towards Frisk, she quickly brought the shield up to meet them before attacking Undyne again. Her attack once again did very little damage to Undyne. Undyne summoned more spears all around Frisk, sending them hurtling towards her. Chara noticed that they had gotten faster as Frisk tried to block them all, but a few got through and struck her SOUL, reducing her HP. Frisk grunted in pain as a gash appeared on her left arm.
Frisk ignored her injury and pressed the FIGHT button, attacking Undyne, but still did very little damage. The SOUL magic on Frisk wore off and she was able to move around again, but Undyne did not let up on her attacks as she summoned spears from the ground. Frisk rolled to the side to avoid them, but a spear clipped her SOUL causing another gash to appear on Frisk's side.
Chara was in awe as they continued to exchange blow after blow, Frisk backing off occasionally to eat some food before attacking again. Undyne would cast the SOUL magic on Frisk whenever she could and continued to attack relentlessly. Frisk soon ran out of healing items and had no choice but to keep attacking.
Eventually, after what seemed like hours, both Frisk and Undyne were down to just a few HP each. Chara looked between the two, Undyne who was glaring at Frisk, the spear in her hand shaking from exhaustion, and Frisk who was breathing heavily, her body covered in large cuts and blood stains. Neither of them looked like they could keep standing much longer.
Undyne unleashed a huge volley of spears towards Frisk, who tightened her grip on the shield and stood her ground. Countless spears struck her shield as they flew at her from nearly every angle, some flipping around to the opposite side to try and hit her exposed back. Chara held her breath as the attack continued to pelt Frisk until the final spear sped towards her. Time seemed to slow for Chara as Frisk saw the spear coming and turned the shield towards it, but the spear suddenly flipped around her and embedded itself in the back of Frisk's SOUL.
Chara stared at Frisk, letting her breath out slowly, as she thought, It's finally over. Suddenly Frisk spun around and slashed Undyne from shoulder to hip.
Undyne's eye went wide as her HP dropped to zero, while Chara could only stare in horror.
"Damn it..." Undyne said. "So even THAT power... It wasn't enough...? ...Heh... Heheheh..." she laughed as she smiled widely. "If you... If you think I'm gonna give up hope, you're wrong. Cause I've... got my friends behind me. Alphys told me that she would watch me fight you... And if anything went wrong, she would... evacuate everyone. By now she's called Asgore and told him to absorb the 6 human SOULs."
Suddenly, Undyne appeared to start melting like ice cream on a hot day, she continued regardless but her voice was strained and shaky.
"And with that power... This world will live on...!" she said as she melted more and more before finally turning to dust that was quickly scattered by the wind.
