Jacqueline Kirk was called up to the stage at Comic Con. As the crowd roared, Jackie joined her co-stars in answering questions about Neptune 26. After an hour of questions, Wade approached Jackie with her personal assistant Rachel. Wade told Jackie that she was great in hyping up the crowd and that executives were getting great reviews as the movie was being released around the world in a couple of major cities. Fans were apparently watching the movie two to three times, this put Jackie in a good mood as sales at the box office were projected to hit the 100 million dollars mark.
As Jackie sat down back in her private room, her glam squad came into touch-up her hair and makeup. Rachel handed Jackie her cell phone and gave her a rundown of her calls and text messages. As Rachel read text after text, she told Jackie as she read the next text, Catherine Stark wrote..., a stunned Jackie took her phone from Rachel's hands not allowing her time to finish reading and went into the bathroom. Reading the message, Jackie was shocked. Jackie's eyes began tearing up at Catherine's apology. It had been months since she heard from Catherine.
Rachel knocked on the door and Jackie said, "Rachel, please give me a second." Jackie was crying, she wanted to call Catherine right that second and tell her she loved her and missed her. That she would give up everything to just have her back. Rachel knocked again saying, "Jackie, your up." At that Jackie wiped off her tears and gave Rachel back her phone. As Jackie walked out, she put on a fake smile, and went back out to face the crowds waiting for her autograph. Jackie was a professional.
That evening, Jackie was taken to a private viewing of Neptune 26 with her co-stars. Mrs. Kirk, Jackie's mother and stepfather were both in attendance, as Jackie was introduced to the crowd she bowed and thanked her fans for their support. As all this was going on, all Jackie could think about was Catherine. She was hoping to sneak out early, but studio executives were having an after party for her and her co-stars. As Jackie exited this venue to be taken away to the Chateau Marmont, the paparazzi were unrelenting with their cameras. Flash after bright flash, Jackie was blinded by all the lights and fell face first in the street. Security guards were quick to pick her up and move her into a black SUV. In the backseat, Rachel looked at Jackie's scratched up face as she winced in pain. Jackie said, "I think its broken."
Rachel immediately called Wade to let him know what happened and they were headed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Wade told Rachel he would call ahead, so she would be brought in through the back of the emergency room. Wade was there by the time Jackie was down in radiology. It was confirmed that Jackie did indeed break her wrist and would require surgery. Jackie would be admitted for the night and given a powerful pain killer until the Beverly Hills orthopedic surgeon arrived in the morning. Jackie's arm was immobilized. As she lied in bed, Rachel put on TMZ. On TMZ, and all over every other major media outlet, they were showing the moment Jackie fell to the ground breaking her wrist. The media also reported about the crowds gathering at the hospital. LAPD officers were already on scene trying to control the crowd of fans and paparazzi trying to get a glimpse of Jacqueline Kirk, and her very famous friends and co-stars. Disappointed, Jackie told Rachel to turn off the TV.
Back in Bloomington, Catherine was in bed watching the news when reports appeared of Actress Jacqueline Kirk injured and admitted to Cedars-Sinai. Catherine's heart stopped as she thought she might of had something to do with Jackie being there. Switching channels, she saw the replay of Jackie exiting Chateau Marmont with security. As she tried to move toward a black SUV, she fell to the ground face first hitting the pavement. Security quickly pushed the paparazzi back as they whisked her away. Catherine, immediately, reached for her cell phone and texted the number with the 323 area code. Catherine wrote, " Porcupine, I hope your okay. Call me when you can please."
Back at the hospital, Jackie's phone wouldn't stop buzzing. In pain, Jackie asked the nurse to bring her phone to her, so she could shut it off. As she looked at her phone, she had 36 missed called and 54 missed text messages. As she moved to turn it off, another text came in from Catherine Stark. Jackie couldn't stop looking at the name that appeared on the screen. Jackie quickly flipped her phone open and read Catherine's message. Jackie responded, "Catherine, I'm okay. I just broken my wrist and will be having surgery tomorrow. " Jackie pushed send. Jackie decided she was not done texting her ,so she typed "Catherine, I miss you." Once more, Jackie hit send as her phone continued to receive text messages and phone calls, one after another. At that moment, Jackie 's nurse took her phone and shut it off. The nurse said, "Young lady, you need your rest. Your having surgery tomorrow." Jackie was suddenly very drowsy and falling asleep.
Back in Bloomington, Catherine could do nothing but watch the news for any reports of how Jackie was doing. Her phone began to buzz with that 323 number. The screen read 2 messages received. Catherine read Jackie's messages and sighed in relief. Jackie was okay and she missed her. Catherine responded, "I miss you too, Porcupine."
Catherine fell asleep worried about Jackie's having surgery tomorrow.
