A/N: You know how I said it'll be in annabeths POV in chapter 9? I lied it's percys Pov in some of it. I'm writing this on my phone so give me a break. Sorry for any spelling mistakes or grammar mistakes or whatever. I will try to read this through but it's kinda hard on a phone so yeah. Also next weeks summer holidays so I'll be trying to update more. One more thing this goes after they're journey in Topeka. Enjoy!
Annabeths pov:
"Phorcys, we need to seek him out that's what Bacchus said right?" Percy said.
I looked at him shocked. That was the first smart thing I've ever heard him say. "Yeah...You know him?"
Percy shrugged. "I didn't recognise him at first. Then Bacchus mentioned salt water and it rang a bell. Phorcys is an old time sea god from before my dad's time. Never met hime, but supposedly he's a son of Gaia. I still don't understand what's a sea god would be found in atlanta."
Leo snorted. "What's a wine god doing in Kansas? Gods are weird. Anyway we should reach Atlanta by noon Tomorrow, unless something else goes wrong."
"Don't say that. It's getting late." I said checking the clock on the wall. The time said 11:30. "We should all get some sleep."
"Wait," Piper said. Suddenly, I shivered and was cold. "There's one last thing. The eidolons are still in this room."
Piper began explaining how she knew from one of her dad's Cherokee stories.
Finally Hazel exhaled looking pale. "Pipers right."
"How can you be so sure?" I asked. What as a child of Athena it was my duty to question everything.
"Like I said before I met some of them when I was..." her voice trailed off.
"So do you think they might be in some of us?" Jason asked piper holding her hand.
"We have to take steps," Piper looking ashen. "I think I can do this."
"Do what?" Percy said putting down his pizza.
"Just listen okay?" Piper took a deep breath. "Everybody listen."
She looked at everyone, one person at a time. "Eidolons. Raise your hand."
There was a tense silence.
Leo laughed nervously. "Did-did you really that I was going to wor-"
His voice died his face went slack. He raised his hand Percy and Jason doing the same. Frank scrambled out of his chair and put his back against the wall. I looked at Percy but he wasn't looking at me, he was staring at piper his hand raised. All of a sudden I had a flashback to this summer on the Empire State Building.
Luke I thought helplessly as Kronos whirled to face me. He slashed at me with Backbiter but somehow I caught the strike on my dagger hilt. I had a sudden burst of energy and adrenaline so is stepped in for leverage.
"Luke," I gritted my teeth, "I understand now you have to trust me." I did understand. And I hated myself for not understanding earlier.
"Luke Castellan is dead! His body will burn away as I assume my true form!" Kronos roared.
He pushed against me trying to dislodge my blade but I held him in check.
"Your mother," I grunted talking a fighting a titan without the curse of Achilles was hard. "She saw your fate."
"Service to Kronos!" He roared again. "This is my face."
"No!" I instead. My eyes were tearing up and soon everything would be a blur. "That's not the end Luke. The prophecy- she saw what you would do. It applies to you." Call me crazy all you want I knew what I was doing and I did it anyways even though it was heartbreaking to give him the idea.
"I will crush you child!" Kronos bellowed. Did he have to constantly speak in the loudest voice he could manage? It was seriously starting to hurt my eardrums.
"You won't." I said strained. "You promised. Your holding kronos back even now."
"LIES!" He screamed and pushed me back. I lost my balance and fell back tears openly streaming down my face now. I remember watching those hateful gold eyes and remembering how they used to be blue eyes full of nothing but love for me. He was like my older brother always there to catch me if I fell in battle always there to protect me always there to fulfill his promise of family. He wouldn't let me down but he did. And I think he new it. He hurt me in ways no one else could emotionally and physically. He had tried to kill me many times before and messed up my mind. How could anyone be so cruel?
When I came back to the scene I saw myself saying "Family Luke you promised." But my own voice sounded distant and it was streaked with misery. I felt blood trickling from the corner of my mouth but I couldn't be bothered to wipe it away.
Luke stares at the knife in my hand, the blood on my face. "Promise." Then he gasped like he couldn't get air. "Annabeth..." his voice was no longer Kronos's but was now his own. His blue eyes shone with the embarrassment of what he'd done. He stumbled forward. "Your bleeding..."
The scene fast forward in a blur of light. I don't know why but it didn't skip much.
Percy gave my knife to Luke. Yes! He was doing what I had planned but that meant...
Grover yelped. I had forgotten he was there he had been silent for so long. "Percy? Are you...um..."
He never finished that sentence.
Luke unlatched the side straps of his armour, exposing a small bit of skin just under his left arm, a place that would be very hard to hit. With difficulty, he stabbed himself. It wasn't deep but Luke howled. An aura of entry surrounded Luke growing brighter and brighter. I shut my eyes and hoped Percy and Grover did the same.
When I opened my eyes after, what felt like minutes, of silence, I saw Luke sprawled at the hearth. Luke's left side was bloody his eyes open blue and bold and caring they way they used to be.
"Good...blade." He whispered his voice barely audible.
I limped towards him tears threatening to spill.
Luke gazed at me. "You knew. I almost killed you but you knew..."
"Shhh." My voice trembled. "You were a hero at the end Luke. You'll go to Elysium."
He shook his head weakly. "Think...rebirth. Try for three times. Isles of the blest."
I sniffled. "You always pushed yourself too hard Luke."
And with that I was back at the ship. I hadn't realised it but I was crouched my hand over my mouth stifling my screams. Tears were running down my face. I saw Percy fall and hazel caught him. He looked around dazed and saw me terrified. Seeing him with those gold eyes had brought back bad memories that I didn't ever want to relieve again. He walked up to up and told me in hushed soothing tones that it would be okay. Percy gently pried my hand from my mouth.
"Here." He said brushing his thumb over my tears and clearing them away. "Better?" He asked I nodded.
"You-it- your eyes they were like Luke's. And you had no control like him and-" I stuttered
"Shhh." Percy said taking my hand. " I would never leave you not today not tomorrow and not ever. I swear it on the River Styx." There was no thunder in the background probably because the Styx knew Percy would keep his promise.
"It'll all be okay wise girl I promise." He said and in that moment I truly knew it all would get better.
A/N: So a little percabeth in there! Again sorry for repetition but it was relevant to the story line. I'm not going to read this through so sorry if a sentence or 2 doesn't make sense or it's not spelled right or anything like that.
